To examine a wide range of potential contributors to the risk of obesity in female adolescents.Data for this study were collected using a cross-sectional design. A group of 175 female adolescents were recruited, and information on their demographic characteristics, lifestyle-related behaviors, and psychosocial factors was collected using a self-administered questionnaire during September 2018 to January 2019. Data were analyzed using SPSS 24.0.An overestimation of body weight was negatively correlated with overweight in the female adolescents. Age at menarche was negatively correlated with the arisk of overweight. Adolescents who slept for7 h on weekend nights were less likely to be overweight. Eating more cheese, fish, seafood, and organ meats was negatively correlated with obesity risk. The female adolescents were more likely to become overweight if they ate dinners prepared by family and experienced more disturbances from parents and other family members.Female adolescents are a unique population affected by obesity. Although incorporating both lifestyle-related behavioral and psychosocial factors in future investigations and developing multicomponent interventions for obesity prevention are crucial, female adolescents should receive the utmost attention from researchers to alleviate the health burden of obesity.The intertwined nature of obesity-related factors warrants future investigations to elaborate their roles interplaying with the risk of obesity. Multicomponent interventions should be developed, and nurses and health-care providers should target their efforts on obesity prevention for this specific population.

Toothpaste tablets are claimed as a sustainable oral care solution because of their plastic-free concept and ability to deliver the same health benefits as toothpaste cream without harming the environment. Various studies on the environmental impacts related to toothpaste packaging have been conducted; however, far too little attention has been paid to toothpaste ingredients. Life cycle assessment was employed to evaluate the impacts between cleaning teeth with toothpaste cream and tablets. The functional unit of brushing teeth for 2 min twice a day for 6 months was compared within a cradle-to-grave system boundary. The study was conducted in the context of toothpaste manufacturing and domestic consumption in Thailand. Results show that using toothpaste tablets remarkably contributes to a higher score than applying toothpaste cream, accounting for 188 and 163 millipoints, respectively. About 65% of the total impact is from the use phase, and 20% is from ingredient production. The damage to human health is the biggest concern (10.358 × 10−6 DALY). Sugar alcohols, magnesium stearate, and polyvidone are inactive ingredients in the tablets that cause serious human health problems. Toothpaste manufacturers should reconsider ingredient substitution and redesign an appropriate amount and form of the tablet to mitigate the abovementioned impacts.

Purpose Three commonly used classifications for thumb polydactyly are the Wassel-Flatt, Rotterdam, and Chung. The ideal classification system would have high validity and reliability and be descriptive of the thumb anomaly. The purposes of this investigation were to (1) compare the inter- and intrarater reliability of these 3 classifications when applied to a large sample of patients enrolled in the Congenital Upper Limb Differences (CoULD) Registry and (2) determine the prevalence of radial polydactyly types when using the various classifications in a North American population. Methods Inter- and intrarater reliability were determined using 150 cases of radial polydactyly presented in a Web-based format to 7 raters in 3 rounds, a preliminary training round and 2 observation rounds. Raters classified each case according to the Wassel-Flatt, Rotterdam, and Chung classifications. Inter- and intrarater reliability were evaluated with the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) calculated using 2-way random measures with perfect agreement. Results For Wassel-Flatt, both the interrater (ICC, 0.93) and the intrarater reliability (ICC, 0.91) were excellent. The Rotterdam classification had excellent reliability for both interrater reliability (ICC, 0.98) and intrarater reliability (ICC, 0.94), when considering type alone. Interrater analysis of the additional subtypes demonstrated a wide range of reliabilities. The Chung classification had good interrater (ICC, 0.88) and intrarater reliability (ICC, 0.77). Within the Wassel-Flatt classification, the most frequent unclassifiable thumb was a type IV hypoplastic thumb as classified by the Rotterdam classification. Conclusions The Wassel-Flatt and Rotterdam classifications for radial polydactyly have excellent inter- and intrarater reliability. Despite its simplicity, the Chung classification was less reliable in comparison. The Chung and Rotterdam classification systems capture the hypoplastic subtypes that are unclassifiable in the Wassel-Flatt system. Addition of the hypoplastic subtype to the Wassel-Flatt classification (eg, Wassel-Flatt type IVh) would maintain the highest reliability and classify over 90% of thumbs deemed unclassifiable in the Wassel-Flatt system. Clinical relevance The Wassel-Flatt and Rotterdam classifications have excellent inter-and intrarater reliability for the hand surgeon treating thumb polydactyly. Addition of a hypoplastic subtype to the Wassel-Flatt (Type 4h) allows classification of most previously unclassifiable thumbs.

Summary: Background: We undertook a Grand Challenges in Global Eye Health prioritisation exercise to identify the key issues that must be addressed to improve eye health in the context of an ageing population, to eliminate persistent inequities in health-care access, and to mitigate widespread resource limitations. Methods: Drawing on methods used in previous Grand Challenges studies, we used a multi-step recruitment strategy to assemble a diverse panel of individuals from a range of disciplines relevant to global eye health from all regions globally to participate in a three-round, online, Delphi-like, prioritisation process to nominate and rank challenges in global eye health. Through this process, we developed both global and regional priority lists. Findings: Between Sept 1 and Dec 12, 2019, 470 individuals complete round 1 of the process, of whom 336 completed all three rounds (round 2 between Feb 26 and March 18, 2020, and round 3 between April 2 and April 25, 2020) 156 (46%) of 336 were women, 180 (54%) were men. The proportion of participants who worked in each region ranged from 104 (31%) in sub-Saharan Africa to 21 (6%) in central Europe, eastern Europe, and in central Asia. Of 85 unique challenges identified after round 1, 16 challenges were prioritised at the global level; six focused on detection and treatment of conditions (cataract, refractive error, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, services for children and screening for early detection), two focused on addressing shortages in human resource capacity, five on other health service and policy factors (including strengthening policies, integration, health information systems, and budget allocation), and three on improving access to care and promoting equity. Interpretation: This list of Grand Challenges serves as a starting point for immediate action by funders to guide investment in research and innovation in eye health. It challenges researchers, clinicians, and policy makers to build collaborations to address specific challenges. We describe our preliminary experience using a 2D turbo gradient- and spin-echo (TGSE) diffusion-weighted (DW) pulse sequence with non-Cartesian BLADE trajectory at 3 T in pediatric patients. We compared the TGSE BLADE to conventional DW spin-echo echo-planar imaging (SE-EPI) in pediatric brain imaging, assessing the presence of artifacts from signal pile-ups, geometric distortion, motion, susceptibility from air-tissue interface, shunts and orthodontia, and diagnostic image quality.Data were acquired in 53 patients (10.4 ± 7.9 years). All DW imaging data were acquired precontrast, with SE-EPI first. A four-point scale for rating was used-1 (best) and 4 (worst). A neuroradiologist scored the two sequences and further noted whether the TGSE BLADE approach or SE-EPI was preferred in each case. Apparent diffusion coefficients were compared quantitatively between the two sequences in a subset of 16 patients, in 41 separate regions of interests including caudate nucleus, putamen, globus pallidus, thalamus, and pathological areas.In 43.4% of the cases, TGSE BLADE was preferred; in 49.1% of the cases, both sequences were preferred equally. Average scores for SE-EPI were 2.2 ± 0.8 versus TGSE's 1.2 ± 0.4 in assessing diagnostic quality (p0.05). Motion artifacts were minimal on both sequences in 92.5% of the cases. In the TGSE BLADE scores, no case received a "4" for significant artifacts with marginally acceptable image quality. Apparent diffusion coefficients values between the two sequences were statistically similar, with a linear regression slope of 0.92 (rTGSE BLADE DW imaging exhibited less geometric distortion in the brain and reduced signal pile-ups in areas of high susceptibility than conventional SE-EPI.

This study attempted to manage the food waste and soybean curd residue generated in Taiwan's National Ilan University by black soldier fly-aided co-composting. The food waste and soybean curd residue were co-composted with rice husk as a bulking agent in 4:1 ratio and 0.42 mg BSF/g waste. The higher organic matter degradation of 31.9% was found in Container B (black soldier flies aided food waste and rice husk co-composting) with a rate constant of 0.14 d

The effect of molecular crowding on the structure and function of Escherichia coli prolyl-transfer RNA synthetase (Ec ProRS), a member of the aminoacyl-transfer RNA synthetase family, has been investigated using a combined experimental and theoretical method. Ec ProRS is a multidomain enzyme; coupled-domain dynamics are essential for efficient catalysis. To gain insight into the mechanistic detail of the crowding effect, kinetic studies were conducted with varying concentrations and sizes of crowders. In parallel, spectroscopic and quantum chemical studies were employed to probe the “soft interactions” between crowders and protein side chains. Finally, the dynamics of the dimeric protein was examined in the presence of crowders using a long-duration (70 ns) classical molecular dynamic simulations. The results of the simulations revealed a shift in the conformational ensemble, which is consistent with the preferential exclusion of cosolutes. The “soft interactions” model of the crowding effect also explained the alteration in kinetic parameters. In summary, the study found that the effects of molecular crowding on both conformational dynamics and catalytic function are correlated in the multidomain Ec ProRS, an enzyme that is central to protein synthesis in all living cells. This study affirmed that large and small cosolutes have considerable impacts on the structure, dynamics, and function of modular proteins and therefore must be considered for stabilizing protein-based pharmaceuticals and industrial enzymes.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a powerful radiologic tool with the ability to generate a variety of proton-based signal contrast from tissues. Owing to this immense flexibility in signal generation, new MRI techniques are constantly being developed, tested, and optimized for clinical utility. In addition, the safe and nonionizing nature of MRI makes it a suitable modality for imaging in children. In this review article, we summarize a few of the most popular advances in MRI techniques in recent years. In particular, we highlight how these new developments have affected brain, spine, and neuromuscular imaging and focus on their applications in pediatric patients. In the first part of the review, we discuss new approaches such as multiphase and multidelay arterial spin labeling for quantitative perfusion and angiography of the brain, amide proton transfer MRI of the brain, MRI of brachial plexus and lumbar plexus nerves (i.e., neurography), and T2 mapping and fat characterization in neuromuscular diseases. In the second part of the review, we focus on describing new data acquisition strategies in accelerated MRI aimed collectively at reducing the scan time, including simultaneous multislice imaging, compressed sensing, synthetic MRI, and magnetic resonance fingerprinting. In discussing the aforementioned, the review also summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of each method and their current state of commercial availability from MRI vendors.

T1-weighted post-contrast MRI is essential in brain protocols. We demonstrate the feasibility and utility of a 3D non-Cartesian radial acquisition in children.To compare bulk motion artifacts, image quality, and lesion conspicuity in 3D T1-weighted post-contrast brain MRI between a new fat-suppressed radial gradient-echo and a traditional non-fat-suppressed inversion-recovery Cartesian gradient-echo sequence.Images from 53 patients acquired at 3 Tesla were compared. Three radiologists rated the images in three categories, including the presence of bulk motion and whether it impacted diagnosis, whether one sequence was preferred over the other in overall image quality and conspicuity of vascular structures and lesions, and whether diagnosis was possible if only the new fat-suppressed radial acquisition was obtained.The Fleiss' kappa for inter-rater agreement was 0.67 for bulk motion and 0.54 for sequence preference. Of the 53 cases, 56% were identified to have significant motion on conventional imaging, while only 13% had motion artifacts on the radial acquisition (p 0.05). There were no cases where motion was seen on the radial acquisition but not on conventional imaging. Both sequences were equally preferred in 87% of the cases. All radiologists agreed that the radial approach had lower gray-white matter contrast than the conventional inversion-recovery method, but preferred the former for making diagnosis in uncooperative patients.We demonstrate the potential utility of a fat-suppressed 3D T1-weighted post-contrast brain gradient-echo sequence in children. The technique is useful in non-sedate pediatric imaging due to its reduced sensitivity to bulk motion.

AIM To evaluate the association between volume ratio of the mucus pool and tumour response to neoadjuvant therapy in patients with mucinous rectal adenocarcinoma (MC). MATERIALS AND METHODS The volume of the mucus pool and whole tumour on pre-therapeutic T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of 79 patients was measured using semi-automated software. Mucus pool volume, whole tumour volume, and volume ratio of the mucus pool were compared to tumour response and tumour and lymph node downstaging after neoadjuvant therapy using receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) and multivariate logistic regression analysis. RESULTS After preoperative neoadjuvant therapy of rectal MC, the rate of pathological complete response, tumour downstaging, tumour response, and lymph node downstaging were 9%, 48%, 39% and 58%, respectively. Tumour downstaging more frequently occurred in patients with a mucus pool volume ratio of at least 68.3% (area under the ROC curve [AUC], 0.793 with 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.693–0.893), and at least 62.1% for identifying those with a higher tumour response with an AUC of 0.739 (95% CI: 0.630–0.847). CONCLUSION A higher volume ratio of mucus pool in patients with MC may be related to more tumour downstaging and therapy response, and therefore, could serve as an independent imaging biomarker for predicting tumour response to neoadjuvant therapy.

In past studies, the reorientation or true polar wander (TPW) of visco-elastic bodies has been studied with approximated solutions. Two types of methods are commonly adopted: those based on the quasi-fluid approximation e.g. Ricard et al., 1993 and those based on the fluid limit approximation which only consider the final orientation (e.g. Matsuyama and Nimmo, 2007). Recently, Hu et al., (2017b) established a method which provides a dynamic solution for calculating the reorientation of tidally deformed bodies. However, they did not provide the links between the complete solution and the fluid limit solution. This paper provides a semi-analytical method for calculating the reorientation of tidally deformed bodies and shows the relation between the complete and the approximated solutions. Furthermore, we provide a criterion, the fluid limit process number F , to test for a given model and estimated TPW speed if the quasi-fluid approximation or fluid limit solution is valid. This number is a quantitative description of how close the body stays in hydrostatic equilibrium during a reorientation process. We use this number to obtain the largest allowed TPW speed of Mars as a function of viscosity, for which the approximated solutions may be used.

The aim of this study was to explore whether application of BRs could alleviate drought-induced photoinhibition in pepper leaves by improving the photosynthetic electron transport via up-regulation of alternative oxidase (AOX) pathway, we examined the effects of 24-epibrassinolide (EBR, 0.1 μM) and salicylhydroxamic acid (SHAM, 1 mM) on the AOX pathway capacity, matale/oxaloacetate (OAA) shuttle, and chlorophyll fluorescence in pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) leaves under drought condition (treated by 15% polyethylene glycol, PEG). In this study, the leaf relative water content (LRWC) decreased from 92.0% to 47.0% by drought treatment for 4 d. Drought induced the up-regulation of AOX pathway and increased the activities of NADP-malate dehydrogenase (MDH) and NAD-MDH. Inhibition of AOX pathway decreased NADP-MDH and NAD-MDH activities and enhanced the increases of NADPH and NADPH/NADP+ ratio in leaves under drought condition. Meanwhile, inhibition of AOX pathway aggravated the decreases of maximal quantum efficiency of PSII (Fv/Fm), quantum efficiency of PSII (ФPSII), photochemical quenching coefficient (qP), and photosynthetic electron transport rate (ETR) in leaves under drought condition. These results indicated that up-regulation of AOX pathway could activate malate/OAA shuttle and dissipate the excess reducing equivalents in chloroplast, resulting in an optimization of PSII efficiency and photosynthetic electron transport. EBR treatment up-regulated the activity of AOX pathway in leaves under well-watered and drought conditions. EBR treatment also significantly alleviated the decreases of Fv/Fm, ФPSII, qP, and ETR in leaves with/without SHAM treatment under drought condition, however, the improvement degree was more efficiently in leaves with SHAM treatment. Furthermore, EBR increased the activities of NADP-MDH and NAD-MDH, and significantly decreased NADPH/NADP+ ratio in leaves with/without SHAM treatment under drought condition. These results suggested that EBR-induced protection against photoinhibition was partly related to the up-regulation of AOX pathway by dissipating excess reducing equivalents.

Background One in every three older adults who lives in a long-term-care facility in Taiwan has diabetes. Thus, examination of diabetes management for older adults in long-term-care facilities is warranted. Aims We investigated the current diabetes management for older adults, nurses' knowledge of diabetes care, and the factors associated with nurses' knowledge of diabetes care for older adults in long-term care facilities. Method This cross-sectional survey study was conducted from July to December 2015. A questionnaire about nurses' knowledge was developed, and then descriptive statistics and a multiple linear regression were used. Findings A total of 41 nurses (82% response rate) from five long-term-care facilities were enrolled. In total, 70.7% of nurses had experience transferring older adults with diabetes who live in long-term-care facilities to an emergency department. The most common reasons were hyperglycemia (n=18, 62.0%), followed by hypoglycemia (n=21, 72.4%). Nevertheless, items on the symptoms of ketoacidosis identification (9.8%) had the lowest correct answer rate, and nearly half (48.8%) of the nurses incorrectly answered a question about the value of glycated hemoglobin A1C for older adults. Diabetes education (β=0.528, p=0.007) was the only statistically significant factor that contributed to nurses' knowledge of diabetes management for older adults. Conclusions These study findings provide an initial basis for considering the development of diabetes management protocols, including nurses' continuing education, for older adults in long-term-care facilities.

Purpose This is a single center prospective research study using an Apple iPhone 7 stock voice recorder application to assess the relationship between LVAD frequency and invasive hemodynamics. Methods Patients were enrolled prior to their standard of care invasive speed adjustment/optimization study or routine RHC. A 35 second recorded auscultation using an iPhone 7 placed at the location of apex overlying the LVAD. Chest x-ray was utilized for estimation of ideal iPhone placement. Invasive hemodynamic data was recorded and baseline characteristics collected at time of acoustic acquisition. Acoustic data was analyzed post hoc using Audacity sound analysis software to produce frequency and decibel values for each audio file. Variation in frequency and decibels were observed between HVAD and HM3 despite differences in speed and rotational flow. Results 8 consecutive patients were studied, median age 59 years, male (63%) with 75% African American and 25% Caucasian. Mean height 173cm and weight 98kg. HVAD (3), Heartmate II (1) and Heartmate 3 (4) were included. Median CVP was 12mmHg, PCWP 17 mmHg, CO(F) 4.7, CI(F) 2.2, LVEDD 6.45cm and PASAT 62.9%. CVP was evaluated over a range of 7-15 mmHg and PCWP ranged from 10-23 mmHg. Mean frequency of HM3 was 53.5 Hz, HM2 68Hz and HVAD 49.7Hz. LVAD frequencies ranged from 48-63Hz in HM3, 68Hz HM2 and 47Hz-53Hz in HVAD. Pearson Correlation Coefficient R = -0.6616 (R² = 0.4377) for dB and PCWP (P=.07). This moderate negative correlation described a tendency for high dB variable scores to coincide with low PCWP scores. Conclusion This interim analysis demonstrates a relationship between cardiac filling pressures and acoustics. Using a universal audio recording application may aid in the medical management of LVAD patients in the inpatient and outpatient setting. This cross platform technology should be further investigated as a potential diagnostic tool.

Introduction FIL, inhibiteur selectif de JAK1 par voie orale, associe au MTX, a montre dans l’etude FINCH1 une amelioration significative des signes et symptomes de la PR chez les patients [pts] MTX-IR [1] . L’objectif de cette analyse est d’evaluer dans cette etude, a l’aide de questionnaires patients (PRO), l’evolution de la douleur (EVA), de la fatigue (FACIT), des fonctions physiques (HAQ-DI) et de la qualite de vie (SF-36), dimensions importantes de la prise en charge pour les patients [2] , [3] . Patients et methodes Dans l’etude FINCH 1 ( NCT02889796 ), les patients presentant une PR active MTX-IR ont recu par voie orale FIL 200 mg + MTX (475 pts), FIL 100 mg + MTX (480 pts), placebo (PBO) + MTX (475 pts) ou adalimumab sous-cutane (ADA) 40 mg + MTX (325 pts) pendant ≤ 52 semaines. A S24, les patients qui recevaient le PBO ont ete rerandomises selon un rapport 1/1 pour recevoir FIL 100 ou 200 mg. Resultats Sur les 1755 patients inclus, 80,7 % ont recu le medicament a l’etude jusqu’a S52. Des S2 et jusqu’a S24, les pts FIL 200 ou 100 mg (vs PBO) ont eu une amelioration significativement superieure (p Fig. 1 A, B). Pour l’HAQ-DI, une proportion significativement plus grande de pts a atteint des S2 une difference minimale cliniquement importante (MCID, baisse ≥ 0,22 points) dans les deux groupes FIL 200 mg (52,5 % ; p Conclusion Dans l’etude FINCH1 menee sur 52 semaines chez des patients PR MTX-IR, FIL a ameliore rapidement et durablement l’etat fonctionnel, la douleur, la qualite de vie liee a la sante et la fatigue, par rapport au PBO et, dans certains cas, versus ADA.

Advances in methods that determine cell mechanical phenotype, or mechanotype, have demonstrated the utility of biophysical markers in clinical and research applications ranging from cancer diagnosis to stem cell enrichment. Here, we introduce quantitative deformability cytometry (q-DC), a method for rapid, calibrated, single-cell mechanotyping. We track changes in cell shape as cells deform into microfluidic constrictions, and we calibrate the mechanical stresses using gel beads. We observe that time-dependent strain follows power-law rheology, enabling single-cell measurements of apparent elastic modulus, Ea, and power-law exponent, β. To validate our method, we mechanotype human promyelocytic leukemia (HL-60) cells and thereby confirm q-DC measurements of Ea= 0.53 ± 0.04kPa. We also demonstrate that q-DC is sensitive to pharmacological perturbations of the cytoskeleton as well as differences in the mechanotype of human breast cancer cell lines (Ea= 2.1 ± 0.1 and 0.80 ± 0.19kPa for MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 cells). To establish an operational framework for q-DC, we investigate the effects of applied stress and cell/pore-size ratio on mechanotype measurements. We show that Ea increases with applied stress, which is consistent with stress stiffening behavior of cells. We also find that Ea increases for larger cell/pore-size ratios, even when the same applied stress is maintained; these results indicate strain stiffening and/or dependence of mechanotype on deformation depth. Taken together, the calibrated measurements enabled by q-DC should advance applications of cell mechanotype in basic research and clinical settings.

Purpose To qualitatively compare a 2D single-shot turbo-spin-echo (ssTSE) diffusion-weighted imaging MRI technique with a spin-echo echo-planar imaging (SE-EPI) approach in pediatric neuroimaging. Methods Images were acquired at 3T in 15 patients (10.6±6.0years). A neuroradiologist rated the data based on the severity of image artifacts from air-tissue interfaces and devices such as ventriculoperitoneal shunts and orthodontia, and whether their presence affected diagnostic image quality. Results ssTSE was preferred over SE-EPI in diagnostic image quality and exhibited fewer clinically relevant artifacts (p Conclusion ssTSE provides superior diffusion-weighted brain images at 3T, particularly in the presence of orthodontia and shunts.

Rare earth elements are key raw materials in high-technology industries. Mining activities and manufacturing processes of such industries have caused considerable environmental impacts, such as soil erosion, vegetation destruction, and various forms of pollution. Sustaining the long-term supply of rare earth elements is difficult because of the global shortage of rare earth resources. The diminishing supply of rare earth elements has attracted considerable concern because many industrialized countries regarded such elements as important strategic resources for economic growth. This study aims to explore the carbon footprints of yttrium and europium recovery techniques from phosphor. Two extraction recovery methods, namely, acid extraction and solvent extraction, were selected for the analysis and comparison of carbon footprints. The two following functional units were used: (1) the same phosphor amounts for specific Y and Eu recovery concentrations, and (2) the same phosphor amounts for extraction. For acid extraction method, two acidic solutions (H2SO4 and HCl) were used at two different temperatures (60 and 90°C). For solvent extraction method, acid leaching was performed followed by ionic liquid extraction. Carbon footprints from acid and solvent extraction methods were estimated to be 10.1 and 10.6kgCO2eq, respectively. Comparison of the carbon emissions of the two extraction methods shows that the solvent extraction method has significantly higher extraction efficiency, even though acid extraction method has a lower carbon footprint. These results may be used to develop strategies for life cycle management of rare earth resources to realize sustainable usage.

Native vascular extracellular matrices (vECM) consist of elastic fibers that impart varied topographical properties, yet most in vitro models designed to study the effects of topography on cell behavior are not representative of native architecture. Here, we engineer an electrospun elastin-like protein (ELP) system with independently tunable, vECM-mimetic topography and demonstrate that increasing topographical variation causes loss of endothelial cell-cell junction organization. This loss of VE-cadherin signaling and increased cytoskeletal contractility on more topographically varied ELP substrates in turn promote YAP activation and nuclear translocation, resulting in significantly increased endothelial cell migration and proliferation. Our findings identify YAP as a required signaling factor through which fibrous substrate topography influences cell behavior and highlights topography as a key design parameter for engineered biomaterials.
