Abstract

Boronic acids and esters are well known substrates for the Suzuki–Miyaura cross-coupling. Yet their isolation can sometimes be tedious. We report here that the use of aryl dioxazaborocanes afford a simple isolation procedure while keeping a high efficiency in the cross-coupling process.

Abstract

The syntheses, the anticholinesterase activities and structure-activity relationships of homodimeric (3a-c) and heterodimeric (6a-c) alkylene linked bis-galanthamine are reported. Compounds 6b-c were found to be more potent than galanthamine and tacrine in inhibiting AChE.

The first use of an intramolecular Heck reaction for the construction of the quaternary centre of a galanthamine-like Amaryllidaceae alkaloid is described. The use of the acetate anion is shown as an activating factor in the 6- exo cyclisation of 5 .
