Abstract

Diels-Alder reaction of 3-chloro-1-methoxy-1,3-butadiene ( 1 ) with 2,3-dimethoxy-2,5-cyclohexadiene-1,4-dione (2) provides a facile and convergent synthesis of the β-halogenated polysubstituted naphthalene 5-lipoxygenase inhibitor RS-43179.
