Abstract

This paper reports a current status of the measurements of the hadronic cross sections in the c.m. energy range from 0.32 to 2.0 GeV with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 electron-positron collider. The overall size of the data, acquired by the CMD-3 in the runs of 2010–2013 and 2017–2018 years, is about 160 pb−1. The results of data analysis for various exclusive modes of e + e − → h a d r o n s are described.

Abstract

A study of hadron production at the nucleon-antinucleon threshold has been performed with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 $e^+e^-$ collider. A very fast rise with about 1 MeV width has been observed in the $e^+e^- \to p\bar p$ cross section. A sharp drop in the $e^+e^- \to 3(\pi^+\pi^-)$ cross section has been confirmed and found to have a less than 2 MeV width, in agreement with the observed fast rise of the $e^+e^- \to p\bar p$ cross section. For the first time a similar sharp drop is demonstrated in the $e^+e^- \to K^+K^-\pi^+\pi^-$ cross section. The behavior of the $e^+e^- \to 3(\pi^+\pi^-),~ K^+K^-\pi^+\pi^-$ cross sections cannot be explained by an interference of any resonance amplitude with continuum, therefore this phenomenon cannot be due to a narrow near-threshold resonance. No such structure has been observed in the $e^+e^- \to 2(\pi^+\pi^-)$ cross section., Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures

Abstract

The cross section of the process $e^+e^- \to 3(\pi^+\pi^-)\pi^0$ has been measured for the first time using a data sample of 56.7 pb$^{-1}$ collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 $e^+e^-$ collider. 632$\pm$32 signal events have been selected in the center-of-mass energy range 1.6 -- 2.0 GeV. A study of dynamics of seven-pion production allows one to extract contributions of the dominated $2(\pi^+\pi^-)\omega$ and $2(\pi^+\pi^-)\eta$ intermediate states., Comment: 13 pages, 5 figures

Abstract

This paper reports measurements of the hadronic cross sections with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 electron-positron collider. The overall size of the data sample analyzed is about 60 pb-1, collected by the CMD- 3 running since December 2010 up to June 2013 in the c.m. energy range from 0.32 to 2.0 GeV. The preliminary results of data analysis for various modes of e + e − → hadrons are discussed.

Abstract

The cross section of the process $e^+e^- \to \pi^+\pi^-\pi^0\eta$ has been measured using a data sample of 21.8 pb$^{-1}$ collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 $e^+e^-$ collider. 2769$\pm$95 signal events have been selected in the center-of-mass energy range 1394--2005 MeV. The production dynamics is dominated by the $\omega(782)\eta$ and $\phi(1020)\eta$ intermediate states in the lower energy range, and by the $a_0(980)\rho(770)$ intermediate state at higher energies., Comment: 20 pages, 11 figures, 2 tables

Abstract

We present the first measurement of the Michel parameters η ‾ and ξκ in the radiative leptonic decay of the τ lepton using 703 fb-1 of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e + e − collider. The Michel parameters are measured by an unbinned maximum likelihood fit to the kinematic information of e + e − → τ + τ − → ( π + π 0 ν ‾ ) ( l − ν ν ‾ γ ) ( l = e or μ ) . The preliminary values of the measured Michel parameters are η ‾ = − 2.0 ± 1.5 ± 0.8 and ξ κ = 0.6 ± 0.4 ± 0.2 , where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic.

Abstract

Using a data sample of 7.7 pb − 1 collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e + e − collider we select about 2900 events of the process e + e − → p p ¯ and measure its cross section at 12 energy points with about 6% systematic uncertainty. From the angular distribution of produced nucleons we obtain the ratio G E / G M .

Abstract

A search for the process e + e − → η ′ ( 958 ) in the π + π − η → π + π − γ γ final state has been performed with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e + e − collider. Using an integrated luminosity of 2.69 pb − 1 collected at the center-of-mass energy E c.m. = 957.68 MeV we set an upper limit for the product of electronic width and branching fractions Γ η ′ ( 958 ) → e + e − ⋅ B η ′ ( 958 ) → π + π − η ⋅ B η → γ γ 0.00041 eV at 90% C.L.

Abstract

The absolute branching ratio of the K+ -> pi(+) pi(-) pi(+) (gamma) decay, inclusive of final-state radiation, has been measured using similar to 17 million tagged K+ mesons collected with the KLOE detector at DA Phi NE, the Frascati phi-factory. The result is: BR(K+ -> pi(+) pi(-) pi(+) (gamma)) = 0.05565 +/- 0.00031(stat) +/- 0.00025(syst) a factor similar or equal to 5 more precise with respect to the previous result. This work completes the program of precision measurements of the dominant kaon branching ratios at KLOE.

Abstract

The cross section of the process e + e − → 3 ( π + π − ) π 0 has been measured for the first time using a data sample of 56.7 pb−1 collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e + e − collider. 632±32 signal events have been selected in the center-of-mass energy range 1.6–2.0 GeV. A study of dynamics of seven-pion production allows one to extract contributions of the dominated 2 ( π + π − ) ω and 2 ( π + π − ) η intermediate states.

Abstract

We search for lepton-flavor and lepton-number-violating τ decays into a lepton (l= electron or muon) and two charged mesons ( h , h ′ = π ± or K ± ) using 854 fb − 1 of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e + e − collider. We obtain 90% confidence level upper limits on the τ → l h h ′ branching fractions in the range ( 2.0 – 8.4 ) × 10 − 8 . These results improve upon our previously published upper limits by factors of about 1.8 on average.

Regular data taking started at the VEPP-2000 e + e − collider with the CMD-3 detector. An energy scan of a center-of-mass energy range from 1 GeV to 2 GeV has been performed with an integrated luminosity of about 20 pb−1. We present first preliminary results from the CMD-3 detector.

Abstract

The ϕ(1020) meson leptonic width has been determined from the combined analysis of 4 major decay modes of the resonance ( ϕ → K + K − , K L 0 K S 0 , π + π − π 0 , η γ ) studied with the CMD-2 detector at the VEPP-2M e + e − collider. The following value has been obtained: Γ ( ϕ → e + e − ) = 1.235 ± 0.006 ± 0.022 keV . The ϕ ( 1020 ) meson parameters in four main decay channels have been also recalculated: B ( ϕ → K + K − ) = 0.493 ± 0.003 ± 0.007 , B ( ϕ → K L K S ) = 0.336 ± 0.002 ± 0.006 , B ( ϕ → π + π − π 0 ) = 0.155 ± 0.002 ± 0.005 , B ( ϕ → η γ ) = 0.0138 ± 0.0002 ± 0.0002 .

Abstract

We have studied the ϕ → a 0 ( 980 ) γ process with the KLOE detector at the Frascati ϕ-factory DAΦNE by detecting the ϕ → η π 0 γ decays in the final states with η → γ γ and η → π + π − π 0 . We have measured the branching ratios for both final states: Br ( ϕ → η π 0 γ ) = ( 7.01 ± 0.10 ± 0.20 ) × 10 − 5 and ( 7.12 ± 0.13 ± 0.22 ) × 10 − 5 , respectively. We have also extracted the a 0 ( 980 ) mass and its couplings to η π 0 , K + K − , and to the ϕ meson from the fit of the η π 0 invariant mass distributions using different phenomenological models.

Abstract

We present the result of a direct search for the decay K S → e + e − , obtained with a sample of e + e − → ϕ → K S K L events produced at DAΦNE, the Frascati ϕ-factory, for an integrated luminosity of 1.9 fb−1. The search has been performed using a pure K S beam tagged by the simultaneous detection of a K L interaction in the calorimeter. Background rejection has been optimized by using both kinematic and particle identification cuts. We find BR ( K S → e + e − ) 9 × 10 − 9 at 90% CL, which improves by an order of magnitude on the previous best limit.

Abstract

We have measured the cross section σ ( e + e − → π + π − γ ( γ ) ) at DAΦNE, the Frascati ϕ-factory, using events with initial state radiation photons emitted at small angle and inclusive of final state radiation. We present the analysis of a new data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 240 pb−1. We have achieved a reduced systematic uncertainty with respect to previously published KLOE results. From the cross section we obtain the pion form factor and the contribution to the muon magnetic anomaly from two-pion states in the mass range 0.592 M π π 0.975 GeV . For the latter we find Δ π π a μ = ( 387.2 ± 0.5 stat ± 2.4 exp ± 2.3 th ) × 10 −10 .

Abstract

We have studied the e + e − → ω π 0 cross section in the s interval 1000–1030 MeV using the π + π − π 0 π 0 and π 0 π 0 γ final states with a sample of ∼ 600 pb −1 collected with the KLOE detector at DAΦNE. By fitting the observed interference pattern around M ϕ for both final states, we extract the ratio of the decay widths Γ ( ω → π 0 γ ) / Γ ( ω → π + π − π 0 ) = 0.0897 ± 0.0016 and derive the branching fractions BR ( ω → π + π − π 0 ) = ( 90.24 ± 0.19 ) % , BR ( ω → π 0 γ ) = ( 8.09 ± 0.14 ) % . The parameters describing the e + e − → π + π − π 0 π 0 reaction around M ϕ are also used to extract the branching fraction for the OZI and G-parity violating ϕ → ω π 0 decay: BR ( ϕ → ω π 0 ) = ( 4.4 ± 0.6 ) × 10 −5 .

Abstract

The process e + e − → ϕ → K + K − has been studied with the CMD-2 detector using about 542 000 events detected in the center-of-mass energy range from 1.01 to 1.034 GeV. The systematic error of the cross section is estimated to be 2.2%. The ϕ ( 1020 ) meson parameters in the ϕ → K + K − decay channel have been measured: σ 0 ( ϕ → K + K − ) = 2016 ± 8 ± 44 nb , m ϕ = 1019.441 ± 0.008 ± 0.080 MeV / c 2 , Γ ϕ = 4.24 ± 0.02 ± 0.03 MeV , B e + e − B K + K − = ( 14.27 ± 0.05 ± 0.31 ) × 10 −5 .

Abstract

Neutral kaons provide one of the systems most sensitive to quantum mechanics and CPT violation. Models predicting quantum mechanics violation, also related to CPT violation, have been tested at the CPLEAR and KLOE experiments. In this report results of CPLEAR obtained by studying the time evolution of single and two entangled kaons are reviewed. New or improved limits on decoherence and CPT violation parameters have been obtained by KLOE studying the quantum interference in the channel ϕ → K S K L → π + π − π + π − . No deviations from the expectations of quantum mechanics and CPT symmetry have been observed.

Abstract

The cross section of the process e+e−→π+π−π0 has been measured in the c.m. energy range 984–1060 MeV with the CMD-2 detector at the VEPP-2M collider. The obtained value of Br(ϕ→e+e−)Br(ϕ→π+π−π0)=(4.51±0.16±0.11)×10−5 is in good agreement with the previous measurements and has the best accuracy. Analysis of the Dalitz plot was performed. The contributions of the dominant ϕ→ρπ mechanism as well as of a small direct ϕ→3π amplitude were determined.

Abstract

We present the first observation of quantum interference in the process ϕ→KSKL→π+π−π+π−, using the KLOE detector at the Frascati e+e− collider DAΦNE. From about 5×104 neutral kaon pairs both decaying to π+π− pairs we obtain the distribution of Δt, the difference between the two kaon decay times, which allows testing the validity of quantum mechanics and CPT invariance: no violation of either is observed. New or improved limits on coherence loss and CPT violation are presented.

Abstract

Using 3.3 pb−1 of data collected with the CMD-2 detector in the 720–840 MeV c.m. energy range, the branching fraction of the conversion decay ω → π 0 e + e − has been measured: B ( ω → π 0 e + e − ) = ( 8.19 ± 0.71 ± 0.62 ) × 10 −4 . The upper limits for the branching fractions of the following conversion decays have been obtained at the 90% confidence level: B ( ρ → π 0 e + e − ) 1.6 × 10 −5 , B ( ρ → η e + e − ) 0.7 × 10 −5 and B ( ω → η e + e − ) 1.1 × 10 −5 .

Abstract

The processes e + e − → η γ , π 0 γ → 3 γ have been studied in the c.m. energy range 600–1380 MeV with the CMD-2 detector. The following branching ratios have been determined: B ( ρ 0 → η γ ) = ( 3.21 ± 1.39 ± 0.20 ) × 10 −4 , B ( ω → η γ ) = ( 4.44 −1.83 +2.59 ± 0.28 ) × 10 −4 , B ( ϕ → η γ ) = ( 1.373 ± 0.014 ± 0.085 ) × 10 −2 , B ( ρ 0 → π 0 γ ) = ( 6.21 −1.18 +1.28 ± 0.39 ) × 10 −4 , B ( ω → π 0 γ ) = ( 9.06 ± 0.20 ± 0.57 ) × 10 −2 , B ( ϕ → π 0 γ ) = ( 1.258 ± 0.037 ± 0.077 ) × 10 −3 .

Abstract

We have measured the cross section σ ( e + e − → π + π − γ ) at an energy W = m ϕ = 1.02 GeV with the KLOE detector at the electron–positron collider DA Φ NE . From the dependence of the cross section on the invariant mass of the two-pion system, we extract σ ( e + e − → π + π − ) for the mass range 0.35 s 0.95 GeV 2 . From this result, we calculate the pion form factor and the hadronic contribution to the muon anomaly, a μ .

Abstract

We have measured the absolute branching ratio BR ( K ± → π ± π 0 π 0 ) with the KLOE detector at the DAΦNE e + e − collider. We collected ∼ 3.3 × 10 7 tagged charged kaons, from the reaction e + e − → ϕ → K + K − . We find BR ( K ± → π ± π 0 π 0 ) = ( 1.763 ± 0.013 stat ± 0.022 syst ) × 10 − 2 .

Abstract

The Cryogenic Magnetic Detector (CMD-2) at the VEPP-2M collider has collected a total integrated luminosity of about 30 pb −1 . The cross sections of e + e − annihilation into hadrons were measured in the energy range from 0.37 to 1.39 GeV. A Monte Carlo generator has been constructed which incorporates the vacuum polarization effects with radiative corrections. The generator simulates production of Bhabha events, two charged pions and muons as well as photon jets. Radiative corrections in the first order of α are taken into account exactly. By means of the structure-function method the leading logarithmic contributions are calculated in all orders of α . The theoretical accuracy of the cross section calculation is estimated to be better than 0.2%.

Abstract

We have measured the ratio R = Γ ( K L → γγ )/ Γ ( K L → π 0 π 0 π 0 ) using the KLOE detector. From a sample of ∼10 9 φ -mesons produced at DAΦNE, the Frascati φ -factory, we select ∼1.6×10 8 K L -mesons tagged by observing K S → π + π − following the reaction e + e − → φ → K L K S . From this sample we select 27,375 K L → γγ events and obtain R =(2.79±0.02 stat ±0.02 syst )×10 −3 . Using the world average value for BR( K L → π 0 π 0 π 0 ), we obtain BR( K L → γγ )=(5.89±0.07±0.08)×10 −4 where the second error is due to the uncertainty on the π 0 π 0 π 0 branching fraction.

Abstract

The cross section of the process e + e − → ωπ 0 → π 0 π 0 γ has been measured in the c.m. energy range 920–1380 MeV with the CMD-2 detector. Its energy dependence is well described by the interference of the ρ (770) and ρ (1450) mesons decaying to ωπ 0 . Upper limits for the cross sections of the direct processes e + e − → π 0 π 0 γ , ηπ 0 γ have been set.

Abstract

The first results of the luminosity measurement with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e + e − collider are presented. The luminosity was measured using two different processes e + e − → e + e − and e + e − → γ γ , that allowed to better understand and estimate the systematic accuracy which was found to be ∼2%. The analysis of the data was done on the integrated luminosity about 20 pb−1. A Monte-Carlo Generator Photon Jets (MCGPJ) [A.Arbuzov et al., EPJ C46, 689 (2006); S.Actis et al., EPJ C66, 585 (2010)] to simulate Bhabha scattering events as well as production of two photons was adopted for analysis of the data. A theoretical precision of these cross sections with radiative corrections (RC) is estimated to be better than 0.2%.

Abstract

We have measured the branching ratio BR( φ → π 0 π 0 γ ) with the KLOE detector using a sample of ∼5×10 7 φ decays. φ mesons are produced at DA Φ NE, the Frascati φ -factory. We find BR( φ → π 0 π 0 γ )=(1.09±0.03 stat ±0.05 syst )×10 −4 . We fit the two-pion mass spectrum to models to disentangle contributions from various sources.

Abstract

The cross section of the process e + e − → ηγ has been measured in the 600–1380 MeV c.m. energy range with the CMD-2 detector. The following branching ratios have been determined: B ( ρ → ηγ )=(3.28±0.37±0.23)×10 −4 , B ( ω → ηγ )=(5.10±0.72±0.34)×10 −4 , B ( φ → ηγ )=(1.287±0.013±0.063)×10 −2 . Evidence for the ρ (1450)→ ηγ decay has been obtained for the first time.

Abstract

Using 15.1 pb −1 of data collected by CMD-2 in the φ -meson energy range, the branching ratios of the following conversion decays have been measured: B ( φ → ηe + e − )=(1.14±0.10±0.06)×10 −4 , B ( η → e + e − γ )=(7.10±0.64±0.46)×10 −3 , B ( η → π + π − e + e − )=(3.7 +2.5 −1.8 ±0.3)×10 −4 . The upper limits for the following rare conversion decays have been obtained at the 90% confidence level: B ( φ → ημ + μ − ) −6 , B ( η → e + e − e + e − ) −5 .

Abstract

Using 11.6 pb −1 of data collected in the energy range 0.864-1.06 GeV by CMD-2 at VEPP-2M, the rare decay mode φ → η ′ γ was observed via the decay chain η ′→ π + π − η , η → π + π − π 0 or η → π + π − γ . The following branching ratio was obtained: Br(φ→η′γ)= 4.9 +2.2 −1.8 ±0.6 ×10 −5 .

Abstract

Using 11.6 pb −1 of data collected in the energy range 0.984–1.06GeV by CMD-2 at VEPP-2M, the cross section of the reaction e + e − →π + π − π + π − hasbeen studied. For the firsttime an interference patternwas observed in the energy dependence of the cross section near theφ meson. The branching ratio of the φ → π + π − π + π − decay doublesuppressed by the G-parity and OZI rule is measuredBr(φ → π + π − π + π − ) = (3.93 ±1.74 ±2.14) ·10 −6 .The upper limits have been placed for the decays φ → π + π − π + π − π 0 and φ → ηπ + π − Br(φ → π + π − π + π − π 0 ) < 4.6 ·10 −6 90%CL,Br(φ → ηπ + π − ) < 1.8 ·10 −5 90%CL. 1 Introduction Production of four pions in e + e − annihilation is now well studied in the c.m.energy range 1.05 to 2.5 GeV (see [ 1] and references therein). Abstract

The process e+e−→π+π−π+π−π0 has been studied in the center of mass energy range 1280 – 1380 MeV using 3.0 pb−1 of data collected with the CMD-2 detector in Novosibirsk. Analysis shows that the cross section of the five pion production is dominated by the contributions of the ηπ+π− and ωπ+π− intermediate states.

Abstract

A new measurement of the rare decay φ → η ′ γ performed with the CMD-2 detector at the VEPP-2M collider in Novosibirsk is described. Of the data sample corresponding to the integrated luminosity of 14.5 pb −1 , twenty one events have been selected in the mode η ′→ π + π − η , η → γγ . The following branching ratio was obtained: B( φ → η ′ γ )=(8.2 +2.1 −1.9 ±1.1)·10 −5 .

Abstract

Using 3.07 pb −1 of data collected in the energy range 0.60–0.97 GeV by CMD-2, about 150 events of the process e + e − → π + π − π + π − have been selected. The energy dependence of the cross section agrees with the assumption of the a 1 (1260) π intermediate state which is dominant above 1 GeV. For the first time π + π − π + π − events are observed at the ρ meson energy. Under the assumption that all these events come from the ρ meson decay, the value of the cross section at the ρ meson peak corresponds to the following decay width: Γ(ρ 0 →π + π − π + π − )=(2.8±1.4±0.5) keV or to the branching ratio B(ρ 0 →π + π − π + π − )=(1.8±0.9±0.3)·10 −5 .

Abstract

Radiative decays of the φ meson have been studied using a data sample of about 20 million φ decays collected by the CMD-2 detector at VEPP-2M collider in Novosibirsk. From selected e + e − → π + π − γ events the φ → π + π − γ decay has been observed for the first time. Under the assumption that the intermediate f 0 (980) γ state dominates in the φ → π + π − γ decay, the corresponding branching ratio is Br ( φ → f 0 (980) γ )=(1.93±0.46±0.50)×10 −4 . Selected e + e − → μ + μ − γ events were used to obtain Br ( φ → μ + μ − γ )=(1.43±0.45±0.14)×10 −5 for E γ >20 MeV. Using the same data sample, upper limits at 90% CL have been obtained for the C-violating decay of the φ : Br ( φ → ργ ) −5 ; and for the P- and CP-violating decay of the η : Br ( η → π + π − ) −4 .

Abstract

The CMD-2 detector has been running on the electron–positron collider VEPP-2M at Novosibirsk since 1992. The cylindrical drift chamber of the detector has a jet-like cell design. The coordinate along the wire is measured with the help of a charge division technique. Some details of the chamber design and calibration procedure are presented together with the obtained angular and momentum resolution.

Abstract

We present a study of the reaction e+e- --> pi+pi-pi0 at the phi peak W=M(phi)=1019.4 MeV observed with the KLOE detector at Dafne. The reaction is dominated by phi production and decay, e+e- --> phi --> pi+pi-pi0. From a fit to the Dalitz plot density distribution we obtain the rho-meson parameters for its three charge states. We also find the relative amplitudes for phi --> rhopi and phi -> pi+pi-pi0 and the cross-section for e+e- --> omega pi0 with omega --> pi+pi-.
