For group decision making with incomplete linguistic preference relations, this paper first make an analysis about individual consistency, based on which a goal programming model is established to estimate the missing values for incomplete linguistic preference relations. Different to the existing methods, the proposed model can cope with the problem in ignorance situations. Then, a multi-stage algorithm which takes both the individual consistency and group consensus into consideration is presented, including the following main stages: initial check for the incomplete preference relations, completion, check and adjustment of individual consistency, aggregation, check and adjustment of group consensus and final selection. In the aggregation stage of the algorithm, an experience and quality hybrid weight vector (EQWV) is defined to obtain the collective linguistic preference relation in group decision making. To prove the feasibility and efficiency of the proposed method, some examples and the corresponding comparisons with other methods are provided. Besides, the analysis on the threshold values proposed by the multi- stage algorithm is made, which can help the decision maker determine the threshold values according to his/her expectations. To investigate the variability-fatigue and repeaters-replacers hypotheses, motor variability (MV) and indicators of fatigue were assessed during repetitive lifting. Eighteen participants performed sequential repetitive bouts of lifting divided into a short bout, and three phases of a prolonged bout until volitional fatigue (or until a 1-h time limit). Whole-body kinematics were collected to calculate variability in three-dimensional joint angles and in continuous relative phase (CRP) of sagittal joint angle couplings, which were summed for the upper and lower body, and whole-body. Excellent individual consistency (ICC = 0.95-0.97) was demonstrated across lifting bouts as fatigue developed. Therefore, strong evidence was obtained for MV as an individual trait in support of the repeaters-replacers hypothesis. Associations were found for endurance and baseline effort with lower body variability, while no associations were found for rate of fatigue. Thus, some support was found for the variability-fatigue hypothesis which suggests that repeaters are less fatigue-resistant than replacers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

To better understand the assessment of motor variability (MV) in an occupational context, this study determined the role of task constraints on MV and consistency in individual MV responses. Twenty participants performed repetitive lifting under four constraints differing in restriction of foot movement and load weight. MV was assessed for three body regions and for the whole-body using linear variability of three-dimensional joint angles. Foot movement caused significant increases of lower body (11-17%), low back (318-439%) and a reduction in upper body variability (4%), whereas no effects of weight nor interaction of foot restriction and weight were found. Good individual consistency (ICC = 0.71-0.84) was demonstrated across constraints. Even though MV is affected by constraints, this study supports that MV is largely an individual trait independent of constraints. Future work should evaluate if MV remains an individual trait across different tasks, and if MV is confounded by other task constraints. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

• δ13C declined over the last two decades even when corrected by Suess effect. • Avian trophic level appears unaffected by the overexploitation of the Canary Current. • Shearwaters responded isotopically to changes in upwelling intensity. • Individual strategies can range from very specialist to very generalist individuals. • Repeated individual sampling of feathers is a sensitive indicator of the environment. Despite its importance for ecology and conservation, we are still far from understanding how environmental variability interacts with intrinsic factors and individual specialization to determine trophic strategies of long-lived taxa, mostly due to difficulties in studying the same animals over extended periods. Here, by yearly consistently sampling the first primary feather of 99 Cory's shearwaters (Calonectris borealis) foraging in the Canary Current (CC) upwelling ecosystem, we provide robust evidence on the individual changes of isotopic ratios of carbon (δ13C) and nitrogen (δ15N) over 17 years. We reported a slight longitudinal decline of δ13C values throughout 2001–2017, even after being adjusted for the marine Suess effect (linked to the increasing CO 2 emissions). Although CC is often considered to be overexploited by industrial fisheries, we could not detect a decline in Cory's shearwater trophic level indicating a change in the trophic web structuring, as revealed by δ15N. We found negative correlations of δ13C and δ15N with the CC upwelling intensity, indicating annual variability in baseline isotopic levels propagates through the food chain and it integrates in predators' tissues. Low individual repeatabilities among years at population level indicates low long-term specialization, suggesting long-lived individuals foraging on highly productive areas can adjust their foraging strategies and diet according to environmental variability. However, individual-level repeatabilities in isotopic values showed a range of individual specialization within the population, indicating most individuals are generalist and a few of them highly specialized. First, although we found a clear influence of the upwelling intensity on the trophic ecology of birds, we could not detect any temporal trend in the trophic level of the Cory's shearwater population, suggesting a stability in the structure of the pelagic food web of the CC over the last two decades despite the fishing pressure. Second, the existence of individual specialization highlights the importance of considering the repeated sampling of individuals to detect small changes in the trophic ecology of a population. Finally, the coexistence of individuals with different degree of specialization (from extremely flexible [generalists] to highly consistent individuals [specialists]) within a population can have deep implications on the capacity of populations to cope with environmental change.
