FeCo films were prepared by a simple and convenient electrodeposition method. An external magnetic field was applied to the film to induce magnetic anisotropy during deposition. Comparing with the previous work, the angle between the direction of applied magnetic field and film plane is changed from in-plane to out-plane. The influence of the applied magnetic field on magnetic properties was investigated. As a result, it can be found that the in-plane anisotropy is driven by the in-plane component of the magnetic field applied during growth. In addition, the result can also be confirmed by the dynamic magnetic anisotropy of the film obtained by vector network analyzer ferromagnetic resonance technique. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

An investigation of the angular dependence of the dynamic permeability spectra has been performed. Three Permalloy films with different thickness were used as the study samples that possess the stripe domains. In order to better understand the magnetization distribution in stripe domains, a theoretical approach was proposed to analyze the variation of the resonance intensity of permeability spectra. By fitting the angular dependence of the μ ″ max using a theoretical function, a coefficient Λ that can be used to evaluate the average value of the periodic function of the anting angle θ in a periodic stripe is obtained. As the film thickness increases, the decrease of the ratio between domain wall width and stripe domain width is happen. This enables that the coefficient Λ decreases with the increase of film thickness. By deducing this coefficient Λ, one can estimate the maximum canting angle θ 0 ∼ 8° for the Permalloy films in our experiments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, a serious of CoFeB films of 30 nm prepared by a DC magnetron sputtering on Si substrates with different roughness etched by NaOH solution are investigated. It is found that the coercivity ( H c ) and effective damping coefficient α are influenced by the substrate roughness of the films. As the substrate roughness increased to 73.9 nm, the H c ranged from 14.4 Oe to 81.4 Oe; the α, from 0.012 to 0.11 at the same time. It is attributed to the function of magnetic moment pinning and magnon-magnon scattering caused by the rough substrate. Thus, the tunable performances of soft magnetism and high frequency of CoFeB films make them become potential candidates for microwave-based devices and other tunable microwave devices. The effect of bilayer repeats (N) on the static and dynamic magnetic properties of Co/Ni multilayers was investigated. The effective perpendicular magnetic anisotropy constant of multilayers drops from 1.08 × 10 6 erg/cm3 to 0.78 × 10 6 erg/cm3 with N increasing from 5 to 11. For Co/Ni multilayers with N ≤ 7 , sharp magnetization switching was observed. In contrast, Co/Ni multilayers with N ≥ 9 have a long tail in the hysteresis loop. Ferromagnetic resonance measurements show that intrinsic Gilbert damping changes from 0.021 to 0.016 with increase in N and is inversely proportional to N. This study provides a deep understanding and effective control of magnetic properties of Co/Ni multilayers for spintronics devices. • This work shows that the value of K eff drops with bilayer repeats (N) increasing for Co/Ni multilayers. • N ≤ 7 , sharp magnetization switching were observed.
