The effect of realistic threat on social dominance orientation (SDO) was tested. It was observed that realistic threat does increase SDO for highly-identified group members.

The selection of resources in highly competitive situations is believed to be influenced by a numerical imbalance in social categorization according to the hypothesis named People counting.

Studies are conducted to verify that the outcome of an affective priming experiment is critically dependent on the frequency of occurrence of the target words used. Results show that low frequency target words result in an affective congruency effect, that is, faster responses following affectively congruent than incongruent primes, and high frequency target words result in a reverse priming effect, that is, faster responses following incongruent than congruent primes.

These results mask, however, a deeper set of complexities. Accumulating evidence indicates that social media can enhance or diminish well-being depending on how people use them. Future research is needed to model these complexities using stronger methods to advance knowledge in this domain. An explosion of research has examined whether social media impacts well-being. First- and second-generation studies examining this issue yielded inconsistent results. An emerging set of third-generation experiments has begun to reveal small but significant negative effects of overall social media use on well-being. The results of these experiments mask the complexities characterizing the relationship between social media and well-being. Whether it enhances or diminishes well-being depends on how and why people use it, as well as who uses it.
