The increasing spread of urbanisation is a common phenomenon witnessed in most parts of the world due to the perceived benefits of urban living. A compounding issue is the growing shortage of safe and reliable water sources. Perennial water shortages are becoming a common feature in many parts of the world. It is important to recognise stormwater reuse as a key resource for securing adequate future water supplies based on the concept of ‘water fit for purpose’. These require careful prioritisation of vulnerabilities, identification of the areas requiring adaptation and provide certainty of outcomes. Given the increasing inevitability of climate change it should be viewed as an opportunity to take advantage of new opportunities which stormwater reuse presents. Strategy is required in order to win the competition. Bidding strategy in construction is defined as a management skill of using all available resources, both physical and financial, to offer a comprehensive and competitive bidding, with an aim to win the competition, and provide maximum project performance. There are many factors that influence construction bidding strategy, and many indicators of project performance have to be considered. Therefore, the relation between bidding strategy and project performance is very complex. Contractors have to consider this very carefully, and they have to evaluate their bidding strategies to ensure that the company goals have been achieved. Dynamic system is a method for develop a management simulation using computer, and helps the study of dynamic complexity; understand the source of policy resistance and helps the design of more effective policies. Furthermore, dynamic system is explained as a tool simulation system that is able to solve the problem of system complexity and also can present behaviour of real world. The study aims to develop a dynamic model and the simulation of bidding strategy and project performance. Case study was carried out in the major contractor in Denpasar, and the analysis used is System Dynamics. The model demonstrated that bidding strategy had a direct impact to project performance. The model simulation found that the enhancement of bidding strategy by 13.67% improved the project performance significantly, by 10.55%, from bid price. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Sustainable construction as a construction method is a beginning to gain traction among Indonesian contractors, but with the dearth of research, knowledge, socialization and strategic support in this field, there are many obstacles towards en masse adoption in Indonesia: to be applied “effectively” and to become part of a “strategic method”. The concept of Sustainable Construction primarily emphasizes the wise use of resources (primarily natural resources), thereby systematically guaranteeing the fulfillment of future needs. However, the use of recycled materials is still hampered by the difficulty of field implementation; this is attested by the low scores attained in green building certification. This study will analyze the strategies needed to support sustainable construction in relation to supply chain management for materials, which have not been implemented well in Indonesia, whereas it has the highest impact in contributing to the effectiveness of sustainable construction. The aim of study is to analyze supply chain performance in materials of construction projects. The measurement used is the Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model with perfect order fulfillment and overall value at risk as a Key Performance Indicator (KPI). The result of the study is the percentage of material that could be used by the management of supply chain. Once the KPI is more fulfilled by perfect order fulfillment, the use of material is more complete to support sustainable construction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Knowledge management is a concept of managing of knowledge in the company. The implementation of concept has different levels in each company. Knowledge management maturity is a guide or measure of the company's position in managing of knowledge. The objective of the study is to identify knowledge management maturity in Indonesian construction companies. This study used a survey method and conducted by distributing questionnaires to large construction companies that implement knowledge management activities. Four level of knowledge management maturity was proposed on this study. The results show that 29 contractors at the practiced level, 20 contractors at managed level and 5 contractors at continuously improved level. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
