Gynecological cancers are currently a major public health concern due to increase in incidence and mortality globally. PIWI-interacting RNA (piRNA) are small non-coding RNA consisting of 24–32 nucleotides that plays regulatory role by interacting with piwi family of protein. Recent studies have revealed that piRNAs are expressed in various kinds of human tissues and influences key signalling pathways at transcriptional and post transcriptional levels. Studies have also that suggested piRNA and PIWI proteins display frequently altered expression in several cancers. Recent research has indicated that abnormal expression of piRNA may play a significant role in development and progression of gynecological cancers. Clinical studies suggested that, abnormally expressed piRNAs may serve as diagnostic and prognostic marker, and as potential therapeutic targets in these cancers. Targeting mitochondrial oxidative stress during initial stages of hepatocarcinogenesis can be an effective and promising strategy to prevent hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In the present study, mitochondria targeted antioxidant, mito-TEMPO was administered to male BALB/c mice at a dosage 0.1 mg/kg b.w. (intraperitoneal) twice a week, followed by single N-Nitrosodiethylamine (NDEA) intraperitoneal injection (10 mg/kg b.w.). After 24 h of NDEA administration, animals were sacrificed, blood and liver tissue were collected. Liver injury markers, histoarchitecture, antioxidant defence status, mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (ROS), lipid peroxidation (LPO), mitochondrial dysfunction analysis, and mitochondrial membrane potential were investigated. Mito-TEMPO pre-treatment protected animals from the damaging effects of NDEA as observed by normalization of liver injury markers. NDEA metabolism resulted in a significantly increased intracellular and mitochondrial ROS generation with concomitant increase in LPO formation. The activity of mitochondrial complex I, complex II, malate dehydrogenase were significantly reduced and mitochondrial membrane potential was increased. Mito-TEMPO effectively scavenged NDEA-induced ROS generation and reduced LPO formation. A significant improvement was also observed in the activity of mitochondrial complex I, complex II, malate dehydrogenase and normalisation of mitochondrial membrane potential. Results suggested that mito-TEMPO had significant impact on the initiation phase of hepatocarcinogensis which could be one of the reason for its reported chemopreventive effect. IoT security is one of the prominent issues that has gained significant attention among the researchers in recent times. The recent advancements in IoT introduces various critical security issues and increases the risk of privacy leakage of IoT data. Implementation of Blockchain can be a potential solution for the security issues in IoT. This review deeply investigates the security threats and issues in IoT which deteriorates the effectiveness of IoT systems. This paper presents a perceptible description of the security threats, Blockchain based solutions, security characteristics and challenges introduced during the integration of Blockchain with IoT. An analysis of different consensus protocols, existing security techniques and evaluation parameters are discussed in brief. Oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction play a significant role in hepatocarcinogenesis. Mitochondria are source organelle as well as target for free radicals. The oxidative damage to mitochondria can be prevented by mitochondria-targeted antioxidant, mito-TEMPO. However, its efficacy in prevention of hepatocellular carcinoma has not been investigated so far. Murine model of hepatocarcinogenesis was developed by intraperitoneal administration of N-nitrosodiethylamine to male BALB/c mice. Mito-TEMPO was administered intraperitoneally at weekly intervals, till the completion of the study. The tumours were histopathologically analysed and anti-cancer efficacy of mito-TEMPO was evaluated in terms of survival index, tumour incidence, tumour multiplicity and tumour dielectric parameters. The antioxidant defence status and molecular composition of tumours were assessed. Gap junctions and gap-junctional intercellular communication (GJIC) were studied using ELISA, IHC and Lucifer yellow assay. Mito-TEMPO treatment increased survival of animals by 30%, decreased tumour incidence (25%) and tumour multiplicity (39%). The dielectric parameters of tumours in Mito-TEMPO group were indicative of retarded carcinogenesis. Mito-TEMPO administration normalized mean saturation levels in phospholipids and improved glycogen content of the hepatic tissue. Gap junctions and GJIC which were severely impaired in hepatocarcinogenesis, improved after mito-TEMPO treatment. Mito-TEMPO was effective in combating hepatocarcinogenesis. The ubiquitous availability of Android devices has led to increasing malicious mobile attacks targeting the Android mobile operating system. In recent times, adversaries leverage situational awareness, user and device context to create targeted malware for mobile devices. Several mobile security tools such as Mobile Sandbox, TargetDroid, and ANANAS focus on tailoring the detection schemes for individual users and suffer from scalability by analyzing individual user's activities. To the best of our knowledge, these tools do not incorporate user group profiling in their automated user-behavior driven dynamic analysis. In addition, adaptive and location-based alerts are not provided to mobile users. We propose SCREDENT: Scalable Real-time Anomalies Detection and Notification of Targeted Malware in Mobile Devices, to provide a scalable system to classify, detect, and predict targeted malware in real-time. SCREDENT incorporates behavior-triggering probabilistic models and user grouping to minimize the number of parallel dynamic analysis instances needed. SCREDENT leverages container technology to perform dynamic analysis and allow for modularity as emulation technology improves. SCREDENT uses adaptive, location-based notification principles to create a geographical fence which warn users of malicious attacks. Finally, SCREDENT provides proactive, adaptive alerts to individual users if at least one of the group members has triggered malicious activities in an application currently used by the individual. Abstract: Illumination of engineered hollow glass microspheres with near-infrared light is used to rapidly release stored gases, in particular hydrogen. Photo-induced outgassing of hydrogen is made possible by introducing optically active dopants into the glass such as cobalt. Recycled amber glass frit coated with polypropylene glycol and cobalt sulfate is converted into hollow glass microspheres with a simple, low-cost flame spraying method. Hollow glass microspheres made by this process release hydrogen more quickly when illuminated versus traditional outgassing with a heated oven. A simple model is proposed for engineering the geometry of the hollow glass microspheres. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Early diagnosis and aggressive therapy improves outcome in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Several potentially curative as well as palliative treatment options are available for patients. The choice of therapy is influenced by factors such as extent of tumor and severity of underlying liver dysfunction as well as availability of resources and of expertise. A systematic, algorithmic approach would ensure optimal therapy for each patient and is likely to improve outcomes. Even after receiving therapy for HCC, patients remain at risk for recurrent HCC as well as progression of underlying cirrhosis. Proper assessment and monitoring is needed for the underlying liver disease, which may progress to liver failure and have a major impact on long-term survival. Comprehensive care for patients with cirrhosis includes interventions such as antiviral therapy for HBV and HCV, abstention from alcohol, management of fatty liver disease, endoscopic surveillance and treatment for complications of portal hypertension and, if indicated, immunization against HAV and HBV. An algorithmic approach is useful for choosing the most appropriate treatment option for the individual patient from among the various options that are available. The general consensus is that the BCLC system should be preferred for staging HCC as it is useful in predicting outcomes and planning treatment. The BCLC system classifies patients with HCC into five categories: very early, early, intermediate, advanced, and terminal. It incorporates data on tumor status (number and size of nodules, vascular invasion, extra-hepatic spread), liver function (CTP status, presence of portal hypertension) and overall health status (constitutional symptoms, cancer symptoms, performance status). Treatment allocation according to sub-class of patients is a merit of the BCLC system; a few limitations have been noted, particularly with respect to patients with BCLC stage B and C disease.
