Compelling evidence indicates that dyslipidemia is positively associated with oral lichen planus (OLP). The types and magnitude of lipid metabolism disturbance in peripheral blood of OLP patients have been investigated in different studies. Yet, consensus on how these different lipid components varied in levels for the development of OLP lesions has not been reached so far. Herein, a total of 8 eligible studies were recognized, which enrolled 533 cases of OLP and 499 healthy controls. The analysis showed that the average total triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels were considerably higher, and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels were significantly lower in OLP patients compared to healthy controls. Abstract: Nacre is secreted from the mantle of pearl oysters. In vivo and in vitro experiments have demonstrated that water-soluble extracts of nacre stimulate osteoblast differentiation and matrix mineralization, but the component responsible for this activity is unclear. It was reported that Pinctada fucata mantle gene 3 (PFMG3) with an N-terminal signal peptide could be secreted into the nacre of P. fucata. Here we report that PFMG3 is specifically expressed at the outer fold of the mantle and could promote calcium carbonate crystal formation in vitro. Consistent with this observation, we found that matrix mineralization of MC3T3-E1 cells, a murine osteoblast cell line, is accelerated upon treatment with PFMG3. Intriguingly, we observed that alkaline phosphatase activity and cell viability are increased after treating MC3T3-E1 cell with PFMG3. mRNA levels of osteoblast-specific marker genes osteocalcin and osteopontin are also increased. We conclude that PFMG3 from the mantle of P. fucata promotes MC3T3-E1 osteoblast cell differentiation, matrix mineralization, and calcium carbonate deposition in vitro. Abstract: Protein kinases are important regulators of intracellular signal transduction pathways and play critical roles in diverse cellular processes. TAK1, a member of the MAPKKK family, is essential for TNFα-induced NF-κB activation. Phosphorylation and Lys63-linked polyubiquitination (polyUb) of TAK1 are critical for its activation. However, whether TAK1 is regulated by polyubiquitination-mediated protein degradation after its activation remains unknown. Here we report that TNFα induces TAK1 Lys48 linked polyubiquitination and degradation at the later time course. Furthermore, we provide direct evidence that TAK1 is modified by Lys48-linked polyubiquitination at lysine-72 by mass spectrometry. A K72R point mutation on TAK1 abolishes TAK1 Lys48-linked polyubiquitination and enhances TAK1/TAB1 co-overexpression-induced NF-κB activation. As expected, TAK1 K72R mutation inhibits TNFα-induced Lys48-linked TAK1 polyubiquitination and degradation. TAK1 K72R mutant prolongs TNFα-induced NF-κB activation and enhances TNFα-induced IL-6 gene expression. Our findings demonstrate that TNFα induces Lys48-linked polyubiquitination of TAK1 at lysine-72 and this polyubiquitination-mediated TAK1 degradation plays a critical role in the downregulation of TNFα-induced NF-κB activation. This study was presented to reveal the most distinct microbial prevalence in recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) lesions compared to healthy controls. The case-control studies were selected in electronic databases until Nov 2022 with key search terms, and the eligible publications were screened and analyzed by independent authors. A total of 14 studies were identified, which included 531 cases of active states of RAS (AS-RAS), 92 cases of passive states of RAS (PS-RAS) and 372 healthy controls. The most sample pattern was the mucosa swab performed in 8 of 14 studies, biopsies in 3 studies, followed by micro-brush, and saliva. A variety of bacteria in higher or lower abundance were observed in RAS lesions. The etiopathogenesis of RAS may not be ascribed to a single pathogen. A possible explanation is that microbial interactions modify immune response or destroy the epithelial integrity, thus contributing to the development of the condition. • Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) could damage normal oral function and affect the quality of life. • A variety of significantly altered microbial genus or species were involved in ulcerated lesions of patients. • Modulation of oral microbiota could improve the therapy of RAS and promote the health of individuals. Abstract: Canonical Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway plays important roles in multiple aspects of cellular responses in development and diseases. It is currently thought that Wnt receptor Frizzled (Frz) exists separately to Wnt coreceptors LRP5 and LRP6 (LRP5/6), and that Wnt–Frz–LRP5/6 triple complex formation bridged by Wnt ligand is needed for canonical pathway activation. We recently showed that Frz and LRP5/6 interact with each other in the absence of Wnt ligand binding and this interaction maintains the Frz–LRP5/6 complex in an inactive state. Here, we further show that Wnt ligand stimulation induces conformational change of the Frz–LRP6 complex and leads to hexamer formation containing the core LDLR domain-mediated LRP6 homodimer that is stabilized by two pairs of Wnt3a and Frz8, that is, Wnt3a–Frz8–LRP6–LRP6–Frz8–Wnt3a. This LDLR-mediated LRP6 dimerization is essential for robust canonical Wnt pathway activation. Our study thus suggests a previously unrecognized mode of receptor interaction in Wnt signal initiation. The cutoff frequency of Schottky barrier diode (SBD) depends on its junction capacitance and series resistance. The two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) at AlGaN/GaN interface has high carrier mobility and carrier concentration. However, AlGaN/GaN heterostructure SBD usually shows a high series resistance because of the thin 2DEG channel. In this work, multiple AlGaN/GaN heterojunctions are vertically stacked for forming multiple parallel 2DEG channels to reduce the series resistance. Multi-channel AlGaN/GaN-based air-bridge structure planar SBDs with a half through-hole are demonstrated. The series resistance of quintuple-channel SBD is only 39.5% of the single-channel SBD's. Moreover, a low capacitance is obtained by the Schottky electrode with a half through-hole structure. The low series resistance and the low capacitance contribute to a 16 GHz cutoff frequency in millimeter-wave band. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
