Atrazine (ATR), a water-soluble herbicide commonly used to control broad-leaf and monocotyledonous weeds, presents a significant risk to environmental soil and water quality. Exposure to ATR adversely affects human and animal health, frequently resulting in cardiac impairment. Curcumin (Cur), an acidic polyphenol derivative from plants acclaimed for its pronounced anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, has garnered interest as a potential therapeutic agent. However, whether it has the potential to ameliorate ATR-induced cardiac toxicity via modulation of endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) and apoptosis pathways in mice remains unclear. Our results showed that Cur supplementation attenuates ATR-induced cardiotoxicity, evidenced by decrease in creatine kinase and lactate dehydrogenase, key biochemical markers of myocardial injury, which have a more significant protecting effect in high-dose ATR induced injury. Histopathological and electron microscopy examinations further solidified these findings, demonstrating an amelioration in organellar damage, particularly in endoplasmic reticulum swelling and subsequent mitochondrial impairment. Additionally, ATR exposure augments ERS and triggers apoptotic pathways, as indicated by the upregulation of ERS-related gene expression (ATF6, CHOP, IRE1, GRP78) and pro-apoptotic markers (BAX, BAK1, Caspase3, Caspase. Intriguingly, Cur counteracts this detrimental response, significantly reducing ERS and pro-apoptotic signals at both transcriptional and translational levels. Collectively, our findings illuminate Cur's cardioprotective effect against ATR-induced injury, primarily through its anti-ERS and anti-apoptotic activities, underscoring Cur's potential as a therapeutic for ATR-induced cardiotoxicity. Building construction accounts for 40% of the global anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions. The drastic increase in the energy costs of building materials has drawn attention to earth materials, such as rammed earth. In this study, the hygrothermal properties of rammed earth in the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, China were measured and compared with results from previous studies. To analyze the hygrothermal performance of a rammed earth wall, a numerical model was established and verified. The coupled heat and moisture transfer in the area of the common rammed earth wall and the moisture barrier wall was simulated with different indoor conditions, orientations, and thicknesses. The numerical results were observed to be consistent with the experimental data. In contrast to results from other studies, the earthen material analyzed in this study exhibits less vapor transfer, but better thermal stability and moisture buffering. The moisture barrier increases the average moisture content of the rammed earth wall, but reduces the maximum moisture content, thereby protecting the wall. The moisture barrier probably also reduces the moisture buffering capacity of the wall. The moisture barrier has no significant effect on heat transfer; even a west-facing wall reduces heat loss by only 3% in this area. • The studied earthen material has lower diffusivity and higher effusivity. • The moisture barrier results in a maximum reduction in moisture transfer of 35%. • The increase of moisture transfer reduces the heat loss of the wall for the whole year. • The moisture barrier will be more effective used on rammed earth wall facing west. Recently additive manufacturing of lunar regolith to utilize in-situ resources of the Moon for deep space exploration has attracted attention. However, most previous works have been limited by low precision, inferior mechanical properties, and complex processes, such as ball grinding. Furthermore, the regional distribution difference of the lunar regolith which shows compositional diversity, demands the exploration of manufacturing of low-titanium lunar soil, which has not been comprehensively studied before. Herein, the vat photopolymerization and heat treatment of raw low-titanium lunar regolith simulant were investigated to achieve high dimensional precision and high mechanical properties. The influence of solid content and photoinitiator concentration on printability is carefully examined based on the characterization of rheological behaviors and curing depth. Then the vat photopolymerization is used to build green bodies with good interlayer bonding strength and high dimensional precision. Besides this, the effect of the debinding heating rate and sintering temperature on samples were optimized in air and nitrogen to enhance the mechanical properties of printed samples. Finally, the optimal sintered parts with a flexural strength of 108.8 MPa and compressive strength of 222.8 MPa were obtained. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: Pt/CNTs, PtRu/CNTs, Pt/RuO2/CNTs and RuO2/Pt/CNTs were prepared to understand the role of RuO2 in anodic catalyst of direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC). The results show that the presence of Ru, no matter in alloy or in oxide, can improve the CO electrooxidation ability. RuO2 in Pt–Ru binary catalyst, which situates between CNTs and Pt particles, can exert its CO electrooxidation ability best. Another role of RuO2 in Pt–Ru binary catalyst is to promote Pt nanoparticles to disperse uniformly on CNTs to obtain larger EAS, resulting in higher activity of methanol electrocatalytic oxidation. Most published works have considered the influence of a single factor on the thermal or hygroscopic properties of the modified soil materials, but few studies have focused on the influence of multi-factor. Therefore, an L 9 (34) orthogonal array test design was adopted in this study to investigate the effects of cement, lime, fly ash, and moisture on the hygroscopic properties of modified soil composites. They were chosen as chemical additives because they are the most common and widely used industrial building materials in the construction of modern buildings. Based on results from range analysis and mean square deviation analysis, the important order of the four factors on the hygroscopic properties was achieved, then the optimum proportion is found. The results show that cement has the most obvious effect on the equilibrium moisture content in 52.89% relative humidity (RH) among the four factors, and fly ash flow is second, moisture content has a minimal effect. By optimizing the parameters, when the cement content was 7%, lime content was 5%, fly ash content was 4% and the moisture content was 10%, the highest average equilibrium moisture content of 1.625% was obtained. The optimized modified soil composites have excellent hygroscopic properties and compressive strength meets the corresponding safety requirements, so it has potential for application and development in the field of soil architecture. • The isothermal absorption-desorption of modified soil composites is irreversible. • The optimum formula is 7% cement, 4% fly ash, 5% lime, and 10% moisture content. • Cement significantly impacts the hygroscopic property of modified soil composites. • Moisture content slightly impacts the hygroscopic property of studied materials.
