Zircon U–Pb chronological and geochemical research has been undertaken on the volcanic rocks of the Tamulangou Formation in the Zhalantun area, middle part of the Great Xing’an Range in NE China. The volcanic rocks yield ages of ∼147 Ma (the Late Jurassic), 14–17 Myr younger than volcanic rocks of the same formation in the northern part of the Great Xing’an Range, indicating that volcanism spanned the Middle–Late Jurassic. The Tamulangou volcanic rocks, together with the JixiangFeng Formation and rhyolite of the Shangkuli Formation, constitute bimodal volcanics related to widespread coeval A-type granites, suggesting the Tamulangou Formation volcanics formed in an extensional environment. Spatial variations in petrological, geochronological, and geochemical features of the volcanic rocks of the Tamulangou Formation indicate subduction to the southeast following orogenesis and closure of the Mongol–Okhotsk Ocean. Water-soluble intracellular polysaccharides (IPS) were extracted from cultured mycelia of Phellinus igniarius. The IPS were purified by ethanol fractional precipitation, ion-exchange and size exclusion chromatography in that order. Homogeneous polysaccharide IPSW-1, IPSW-2, IPSW-3, and IPSW-4 were obtained, which molecular characteristics were examined using multiangle laser-light scattering and refractive index detector system. The average molecular weights of them were 34.1, 17.7, 15.1, 21.7 kDa, respectively. GC analysis indicated that IPSW-1, IPSW-2 and IPSW-3 all only contained glucose, while IPSW-4 was composed of rhamnose, xylose, mannose, glucose and galactose in a molar ratio of 1.29:1.21:1:43.86:1.86. UV and IR analysis suggested they belonged to α-type of the pyran group and didn’t contain protein. These homogeneous polysaccharides could inhibit the growth of SW480 and HepG2 cells to a certain extent in a dose-dependent manner. So they could be beneficial for the further development of a natural carcinoma preventive agent and functional food. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this study, we investigate the effects of the thin-ply on electrical resistivity and its response to the tensile loading of carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRPs). Our results show that the resistivity in the thickness direction of the unidirectional laminate (UDL) made from thin-ply rises linearly at a small rate with the increase of the load until the load reaches 77.7% of the tensile strength calculated with the mix law of the composites, which is 1.43 times that of the thick-ply UDL. For thick-ply UDL, such linear response presents two phases. The resistivity increases at a small rate in the first stage in which the maximum load is low. The rate increased in the second stage is twice that of the first stage, and the threshold of the load corresponding to the stage is 54.4% of the tensile strength calculated with the mix law. It was found that the electrical resistivity of the CFRP in the thickness direction was related to the morphology of the resin-rich zone in between two plies and is less dependent of fiber volume fraction if fiber volume fraction is greater than a critical value in the composites.
