By using the weighted and unweighted mean values of the experimental average M-shell fluorescence yield reported in the literature covering the period from 1955 to 2005 and the theoretical values based on the non-relativistic Hartree–Fock–Slater (HFS) calculations of McGuire (1972) , we produce good estimations for the semi-empirical values of elements in the range of 70≤ Z ≤90. These values are obtained by the interpolation of the normalized weighted and unweighted mean values to their corresponding theoretical ones. The results have been compared to other theoretical, empirical and experimental data reported in the literature. Reasonable agreement has been obtained between our result and other works. Abstract: The diagnosis of systemic Candidiasis is difficult to establish and biologic diagnosis raises problems. Blood culture which is the gold standard for the diagnosis of systemic Candidiasis lacks sensitivity and usually takes several days to become positive. Early diagnostic approach is imperative to avoid delays in the initiation for treatment. Therefore, nonculture methods like test for Candida antigen detection, metabolite detection or Candida DNA detection by PCR are being developed for the laboratory diagnosis. Candida derived metabolites and antigens detection lacks sensitivity. A new strategy consisting of the combined detection of mannanemia and an antibody response was developed. The combined detection has a high specificity and sensitivity in the diagnosis of invasive candidiasis. The results of tests for the detection of yeast DNA by PCR obtained recently are promising in terms of sensitivity, specificity and identification of species of Candida. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

In this paper, a summary of experimental data published in the period of time between 1955 to february-2016 was presented in a tabular form for L i subshell fluorescence yields ( ω L1 , ω L2 and ω L3 ) taken from different sources. First, a critical examination of these data using the weighted average values ω Li - W was presented. Then, an interpolation using the famous analytical function ( ω Li - W / ( 1 − ω Li - W ) ) 1 / 4 vs the atomic number Z was proformed to deduce a new empirical L i subshell fluorescence yields for elements in the range 40≤Z≤96 for ω L1 and ω L2 and 23≤Z≤96 for ω L3 . The aim of this contribution is to investigate the inclusion of the correct exact integration limits for momentum transfer on ECPSSR theory for a wide range of elements (18≤ Z ≤92) by proton impact with energy up to 10.0 MeV and its effect on deducing a reliable semi-empirical method for calculating L shell x-ray production and ionization cross sections. Existing experimental compilation (till 2014) for a wide range of elements (40≤Z≤92) by proton impact (up to 10.0 MeV) is used to deduce empirical ionization and x-ray production cross sections. The reliability of the obtained cross sections is then exploited to derive new values of L shell average fluorescence yield. This was based on the fact that ratio of ionization to x-ray production cross sections is independent of the excitation energy of proton ranging from 0.02 to 10.0 MeV, for a given element.
