This article reports on a dual band, polarization insensitive Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) for Wi-Fi and WLAN shielding applications. The design incorporates concentric square and circular loops loaded with log periodic directors and passion crosses, respectively. The proposed design is completely polarization insensitive. Also, the design has angular stability up-to 45° for both Transverse Electric (TE) and Transverse Magnetic (TM) polarizations. The FSS offers measured suppression of 38 dB at 2.4 GHz and 32 dB at 5.9 GHz. The detailed analysis of all parameters has been carried out. Equivalent lumped circuit model has also been proposed. The design is highly miniaturized with the unit element size of 0.1λ 0 only. The complementary bandpass FSS has also been investigated. The measured results are in good agreement with the simulated response. The design has excellent potential for EM field suppression and security applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This work reports on a compact and broadband reflectarray antenna that can be directly applied to the exterior surface of a nanosatellite. The design is composed of an annular ring with a wheel-shaped concentric structure loaded with two circular stubs acting as delay lines for maximum phase angle coverage. The design offers a phase variation of 576° in the X-band along with a peak measured gain of 26.6 dBi and an aperture efficiency of 49.24%. The design also offers low side lobe levels of −13 dB and −18 dB in both E- and H-planes at 11 GHz, respectively. Cross-polarization discrimination is also sufficiently large and is better than −32 dB and −36 dB for E- and H-planes, respectively. Moreover, the proposed printable reflectarray exhibited a 1-dB gain Bandwidth (BW) of 31.5 %. This paper reports a polarization controllable and angle-insensitive perfect metamaterial absorber (PMA). The proposed PMA consists of periodically arranged asymmetric omega-shaped resonators made of metallic copper. The absorptivity was analyzed considering the microwave C-band from 4 GHz to 8 GHz. The proposed PMA shows an absorption peak with almost 100% absorptivity at 6.2 GHz. Also, wideband negative index of refraction is observed. Further, the absorber is inspected for the different rotation angles of the top metasurface (omega-shaped ring) along the optical axis, and obliquity of incidence angle for both TE and TM polarized waves. Moreover, surface electric field and surface current distribution were analyzed to understand the absorption mechanism. It was noticed that at resonance (considering 6.2 GHz) electric field maximally remains concentrated on the omega-shaped rings. Furthermore, the simulation and measured results show a good agreement. It is inferred that the proposed PMA would be useful candidate for the sensing and filtering applications in the C-band of the microwave regime. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
