The article discusses the findings of a study on obesity among preschool children in Chicago, Illinois. Obesity rates among U.S. children has increased based on the 1999-2002 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Data were extracted from Certificate of Child Health Examination forms at state-licensed centres to calculate age and gender-specific body mass index (BMI) percentile scores of the children. Obesity rate was higher among socioeconomically disadvantaged minority children.
