Abstract: Structural properties of electrodeposited ZnSe thin films were studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and the electrodeposited films are found to be polycrystalline in nature with face centered cubic structure. Optical constants of ZnSe thin films for various deposition potentials were determined in the spectral range 400–1200nm using the optical absorption and transmittance measurements. The Tauc''s plot was drawn to determine the energy band gap values of the deposited films and is estimated to be in the range between 2.52eV and 2.61eV respectively. Their optical constants like refractive index (n), dielectric constants (ɛ), optical conductivity (σ), average excitation energy (E 0), oscillator strength (E d ), effective mass (m *), plasma frequency (ω p ), static dielectric constant (ɛ ∞) and carrier concentration (N) were estimated and reported. The room temperature photo luminescence studies were also performed. The near band edge luminescence emission has been observed and reported. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: α-Ferrous oxide (Fe2O3) nanostructures were synthesized by precipitation route using an aqueous solutions bath containing ferric and ferrous chloride. The prepared Fe2O3 nanostructures were characterized by X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, FTIR, VSM and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns revealed orthorhombic phase Fe2O3 nanostructures. The crystallite size was estimated about ~11nm. Nanopillars shaped grains were observed by FE-SEM and TEM studies. Magnetic properties of Fe2O3 were determined by using a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The observed results were discussed in detail. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: Cadmium chromium sulphide (CdCr2S4) thin films have prepared on indium doped tin oxide coated conducting glass (ITO) substrates from an aqueous electrolytic bath consists of CdSO4, Cr2O3 and Na2S2O3 using potentiostatic electrodeposition technique. The deposited films are characterized using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive analysis by X-rays and optical absorption techniques, respectively. X-ray diffraction pattern reveals that the deposited films possess polycrystalline nature with cubic structure. Surface morphology and film composition shows that the films with smooth surface and better stoichiometry are obtained under optimized deposition condition. The optical parameters such as band gap, refractive index and extinction coefficient are calculated from optical absorption measurements. The experimental observations are discussed in detail.
