A general method for the synthesis of substituted benzoxazoles via copper powder-catalyzed and KO t Bu-accelerated cyclization of ortho -iodoanilides is described. This is facile, efficient, and very rapid synthesis which is believed to proceed via an intramolecular C–O cross-coupling and oxidative insertion/reductive elimination pathway through a Cu(0)/Cu(II) manifold. Abstract: A convenient methodology has been developed towards the synthesis of substituted phenanthridines and analogous benzo[k] and benzo[i] derivatives via aerobic ligand-free domino Suzuki coupling–Michael addition reaction in the presence of Pd(OAc)2 and K3PO4 as a catalytic system in H2O at 90°C in good yields. Abstract: A very short and highly efficient protocol to azafluorenone exploiting intramolecular oxidative Heck cyclization using Pd(0) is presented. Precursor alcohols afforded azafluorenone in a single step with simultaneous oxidation and cyclization under Heck reaction condition in excellent yield.
