Background: Colonization of neonate skin by Malassezia species and their causative role in neonatal cephalic pustulosis is unclear. Objectives: We sought to determine the skin colonization by Malassezia in healthy newborns, and to investigate its association with neonatal cephalic pustulosis. Methods: Samples for Malassezia colonization were taken from cheeks and scalps of 104 neonates between 24 and 72 hours after birth, and again 2 or 4 weeks later. Pustules were sampled with concomitant nonlesional skin cultures if neonatal cephalic pustulosis was diagnosed. Results: Malassezia colonization increased significantly with age of the neonate (5% at the first week, 30% at 2-4 weeks). In all, 26 patients were given the diagnosis of neonatal cephalic pustulosis during follow-up. No correlation was found between the severity of the disease and Malassezia isolation. Skin colonization of patients with neonatal cephalic pustulosis (20.8%) was not higher than colonization of healthy newborns (37%). Limitations: Not all of the neonates were examined by the authors at the second visit. Conclusions: Malassezia colonization increases after the first week of life. Background: Children with specific learning disabilities (SLD) have been observed to face participation restrictions in their daily life.Aims: This study aims to examine the participation and environmental features of children with SLD compared to non-disabled children.Methods and Procedures: This study was designed as a case-controlled study. Parents of children between 5 and 17 years of age with SLD (n = 90) and those who are non-disabled (n = 88) were included in this study to do the Participation and Environment Measure for Children and Youth (PEM-CY).Results: Differences between groups were found statistically significant in home, school, and community settings between both participation and environmental features (p < 0.05). Children with SLD participated less frequently in school settings and were less involved in activities in home and school settings. Parents of children with SLD desired more change in their child's participation in all settings. Environmental factors were significantly more likely to be identified as barriers in the participation of children with SLD.Conclusion and Implications: This study provides information about participation patterns and environmental factors for many children with SLD. The results provide insights into a rehabilitation program that may improve the participation of children with SLD, and on where greater efforts are needed to support participation and environmental features for children with SLD. Objectives: Our aim was to compare 20% with 10% to 5% incremental regimens in narrowband UVB phototherapy. Study patients: The study included patients with psoriasis (N = 191) with Fitzpatrick skin phototypes II and III. Results: Occurrence of erythema as well as maximum and cumulative doses were higher with 20% escalations, whereas response rates and time to response did not significantly differ. Limitations: The study was limited by its retrospective nature. Conclusion: A 5% or 10% incremental regimen may have similar therapeutic efficacy. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

• Socializing is an important predictor of life satisfaction. • Emerging adults are expected to cope with different, but many indicators have been identified. • Social rehabilitation programs will be designed according to social determinant for emerging adults more effectively. Environmental and social factors that surround someone are major influencers of life satisfaction. We aimed to investigate which social factors were significantly influencing life satisfaction in healthy emerging adults. A cross-sectional design was employed to implement the study and a direct survey approach was selected to uncover the relationship between life satisfaction and social factors. A socio-demographic information form was used for collecting data on demographic factors as well as social factors. Contentment with Life Scale (CLAS) was used to assess life satisfaction. A multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to see the strength and character of the relationships between social factors and life satisfaction. A total of 288 individuals participated in the study. There was a total of 6 significant predictors of life satisfaction; frequency of going out with friends, smoking habits, age, allowance, parents' income and father's education level. Our results show that social factors should be kept in mind when working with emerging adults and can be used as indicators of life satisfaction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
