This study aims to create a vision of the future hospital to help healthcare leaders understand how changes in society and the healthcare system, compounded by climate change, could affect future hospital estate. The study is part of a larger project based on participatory backcasting aimed at providing integrated strategies for transitioning to a zero-carbon future and adapting to existing climate change through improved asset management. The data presented in this paper were collected during a full-day workshop to construct the vision of the future hospital in 2050. A multidisciplinary team of 19 participants participated in the discussions. A six-phase thematic analysis was applied to the data to develop the narrative vision and graphic recording. The healthcare system is undergoing transformative changes due to evolving healthcare delivery, patient expectations, emerging technologies, climate change, and sustainability. However, current hospital strategies often fail to consider the interrelationship between the hospital estate and its socio-environmental context. Policymakers, healthcare system leaders, and hospital leaders need a clear vision of the hospital of the future to implement transformational strategies. Healthcare transformations require shifting from traditional centralised hospitals to a more flexible, distributed model. Healthcare leaders need to proactively assess how hospitals respond to current and future hazards and consider the impacts within the context of integrated and dispersed healthcare delivery. To address this, a systematic approach to modelling hazards and evaluating design or upgrading options is essential to mitigate the transfer of climate-related risks within healthcare systems. We used human-centered design to explore preferred consumer experiences for obtaining mifepristone for medication abortion care from a pharmacy. We conducted a two-part virtual workshop series with the same 10 participants in March and April of 2022 to initiate the discovery phase of a human-centered design process. Most participants were residents of Illinois and all participants had uteruses and had either sought abortion care or supported someone who had. Co-developed and co-facilitated with a local abortion fund, workshops engaged participants to provide formative data for the development of recommendations for community health center clinicians and pharmacists. A simulated medication abortion care counseling session grounded group activities and discussions that explored the experience of filling a medication abortion prescription at a pharmacy or by mail. Data were analyzed for key themes and recommendations. Qualitative data were collected from the workshops. Data analysis was conducted in three iterative, parallel stages: 1) virtual whiteboard results from both workshops were analyzed deductively through spreadsheets and visualizations; 2) close reading was conducted for workshop transcripts and participant evaluations; and 3) document analysis was used to triangulate data across formats. Data were discussed periodically among the research team until consensus was reached. Five primary categories of questions and preferences emerged from workshop data concerning: logistics, privacy, cost, pharmacist refusal, and follow-up care. Researchers found that participants desired certain questions and concerns to be answered by specific provider types. Participants indicated a desire for further research and opportunities that prioritize lived experience and use storytelling and/or design methods to collect data. Despite existing patient-oriented medication abortion resources, there is a need for patient resources to support pharmacy dispensing, and a corresponding need for clinician and pharmacist resources. The lack of training is a significant barrier to practicing brachytherapy (BT). Tata Memorial Centre, alongside international BT experts and BrachyAcademy, developed a hybrid gynecological BT training module. This study outlines the preparation, organization, and execution of the 2022–2023 Mumbai training, evaluates its effectiveness, and highlights areas for improvement. Participants were radiation oncologists (RO) and medical physicists (MP) with experience in gynecological BT aiming to transition to image-guided brachytherapy (IGBT). The training covered cervical, endometrial, vaginal, vulvar, periurethral cancers, and pelvic reirradiation. The hybrid course included online pre and postcourse homework assignments, a live workshop with hands-on training, a 6-month online follow-up, and a 12-month opportunity to share the transition experience. The December 2022 Mumbai live workshop spanned 2.5 days, attracting 39 participants from 8 countries (Asia, Africa, Australia/Oceania). Feedback rated the course 9/10, with 78% fully meeting expectations. Forty-four percent suggested extending hands-on training. At the 6-month follow-up, response rates were low (33% RO, 11% MP). Among responding RO, 70% reported practice changes after attending the course, 40% implemented IGBT concepts in clinical practice, and 50% increased confidence in image-guided procedures. Overall, 45% of respondent sites could strengthen their intracavitary/interstitial program, while others faced limitations due to lack of access to advanced BT applicators. The hybrid gynecological BT training concept was successfully executed. Areas for improvement include extending hands-on training and enhancing participant engagement postcourse. To identify factors influencing the availability and sales of healthy food and drinks in a café located in a hospital setting in a rural area. Three online and 1 in-person group model building workshops were conducted with hospital staff members to develop a causal loop diagram. Four areas in the causal loop diagram were identified, 5 teams were created to implement 15 identified action ideas, and an action registry was created to track their progress. By May 2023, 4 actions were active, 6 inactive, 4 completed, and 1 abandoned. The group model building process identified factors and actions to improve the healthiness of the hospital's café and motivated staff members to act for change. However, progress was limited by staff turnover, recruitment, and inadequate participation from decision-makers. Modern slavery is a public health challenge. The objective of this research was to build and refine a public health approach to addressing it. This was a participatory qualitative study with a proof-of-concept exercise. Nine deliberative workshops with 65 people working across the antislavery sector. Thematic analysis of qualitative data. Of the nine workshops, two were proof of concept. These explored and tested the public health framework devised. Participants contributed to the development of a public health framework to modern slavery that included multiple elements across national, local, and service levels. There were six 'C's to national components: policy that was coherent, co-ordinated, consistent, comprehensive, co-operative and compliant with international law. Local components centred on effective local multiagency partnerships and service design and delivery focussed on trauma-informed, flexible, person-centred care. A public health approach to modern slavery is a promising development in the antislavery field in the United Kingdom and globally. It was well supported by workshop participants and appeared to be operable. We use an art-based approach to engage and involve members of African, African Caribbean and Muslim communities' in exploring barriers to accessing and using mental health services in the co creation and co-production of mental health communication material. A creative practice approach underpinned by the principles of participatory action research was used. Seven community-based interactive workshops were held between February and June 2022 at three community centres in Nottingham, UK Attendees were invited to take part in open discussions around the conceptualisations of mental health, well-being and emotional health and to draw or describe their experiences of accessing mental health services. Attendance was higher than anticipated, with 72 individuals from African, African Caribbean and Pakistan communities taking part in the workshops. What emerged was the low level of understanding of the services available in addressing mental health. In addition, it was felt that health professionals in the National Health Service (NHS) do not sufficiently acknowledge or consider the ethnic, social, cultural and economic factors influencing the mental health and emotional well-being of minoritised communities. Attendees critiqued and provided feedback on service providers' posters and leaflets. They commented on the lack of key information provided, the inclusion of what was viewed as irrelevant content and the use of unfamiliar terminology. Some attendees created mock-ups of what they believed a good poster should look like. A creative practice approach that follows the principles of participatory action research can play an important role in engaging members of minoritised communities in the co-production and co-design of services. The previous lack of national UK guidance on the use of Prenatal and Pre-implantation Genetic Testing (PND and PGT-M) for Monogenic Disorders for Germline Cancer Susceptibility Gene Variants (gCSGV) has led to disparities in care across the UK, and inequitable access to reproductive options for families living with cancer susceptibility syndromes. In 2023, the UK Cancer Genetics Group and Fetal Genomics Group of the British Society of Genetic Medicine developed joint consensus guidance seeking to provide healthcare professionals with a clear counselling framework to support individuals/couples during their reproductive decision-making process. Does adding an interactive clinical supervision training program to self-education improve the effectiveness of clinical supervision of physiotherapists, reduce burnout, decrease intention to leave and increase participation in clinical supervision? Randomised controlled trial with concealed allocation, assessor blinding and intention-to-treat analysis. Physiotherapists (n = 58) working at a publicly funded health service. Participants in both groups received a self-education clinical supervision training package. In addition, participants in the experimental group received interactive clinical supervision training consisting of three 90-minute workshops. The primary outcome measure was effectiveness of clinical supervision 4 months after training measured using the Manchester Clinical Supervision Scale (MCSS-26). Secondary outcomes were the Maslach Burnout Inventory, the Intention to Leave Scale, and participation in supervision. Focus groups were also used to gauge impressions of the intervention. The addition of interactive clinical supervision training slightly improved effectiveness of clinical supervision, with a between-group mean difference of 6.3 units (95% CI 0.3 to 12.3) on the MCSS-26. The estimate of the effect on the proportion of physiotherapists reporting effective clinical supervision (ie, MSCC-26 score ≥ 73) was unclear (OR 1.97, 95% CI 0.50 to 7.81). Physiotherapists in the experimental group reported slightly lower levels of depersonalisation (MD –3.0 units, 95% CI –4.6 to –1.3). There were negligible or uncertain effects on the other burnout domains, intention to leave and participation in clinical supervision. Qualitatively, participants reported that the workshops made them realise that supervisees could take greater ownership of where supervision focused. Amniocentesis is the most performed invasive prenatal diagnostic procedure. Learning the procedure is difficult for the learner, the teacher and the patient because of the risks inherent to this technique and the anxiety generated by the procedure. The objective of this work was to evaluate a theoretical and practical amniocentesis training workshop using a simulator. We were inspired by Pierre Jean's precepts for the planning of a medical training. We then carried out the pedagogical session with the gynecology residents of our Regional University Hospital, a type 3 maternity hospital in France. We evaluated the theoretical learning through a questionnaire before and after the training and then the practical session on a home-made simulator. The satisfaction of the participants was assessed by a questionnaire at the end of the session. Fifteen learners, from the first to the last semester of internship, participated in the training. The median score of the pre-training questionnaire ("pre-test" questionnaire) was 3.3 out of 10 (min = 1, max = 6) and that of the post-training questionnaire ("post-test" questionnaire) was 7.9 out of 10 (min = 6, max = 9). The post-training scores were significantly higher (p < 0.0007). The average score for the practical training was 30.5 out of 40 (24–36). 93 % of the learners were fully satisfied with the theoretical training and 100 % stated that they had improved their technical skills. The residents in our department expressed a need for training in this invasive procedure of antenatal diagnosis. We reviewed environmental public health practice at a local level (roles, responsibilities, interaction with partner agencies) to establish what and how an integrated approach to the service, as found in Cheshire and Merseyside, North West England, should be delivered, if at all, and at what footprint. Mixed methods approach. We triangulated: qualitative interviews with relevant professionals to gain an in-depth understanding of their interest and vision for any health protection input to health risks and outcomes from environmental issues; an electronic questionnaire assessing experience, interest, vision and comfort zones of a wider range of professionals involved in environmental health issues; a half-day workshop to review study findings and agree ways forward. Stakeholders value their local health protection team's input, but environmental public-health knowledge and skills also exist in local authority teams. Regional health protection teams can provide environmental public-health expertise to local partners and agencies. They harness national input and evidence with local frontline professionals practice, enabling locally grounded approaches, integrating science into local contexts, to answer difficult, often incorrigible, problems. Specialist leadership by experienced Consultants in Health Protection is of value to local authority public health and environmental teams and should be based on a footprint that is appropriate to enhance local relationships without compromising available expert knowledge and skills. INTRODUCTION: Pediatric end of life (EOL) care skills are a high acuity, low occurrence skill set required by pediatric clinicians. Gaps in education and competence for this specialized care can lead to suboptimal patient care and clinician distress when caring for dying patients and their families. METHODS: A half-day workshop using a deliberate practice approach was designed by an inter-professional workgroup including bereaved parent consultants. Pediatric fellows (neonatal-perinatal medicine, critical care, hematology oncology, blood and marrow transplant) and advanced practice providers learned and practiced EOL skills in a safe simulation environment with instruction from interprofessional facilitators and standardized patients. Participant perceived competence (self-efficacy) was measured before, immediately-post, and 3 months post workshop. RESULTS: There were 28 first-time (of 34 total) participants in 4 pilot workshops. Participants reported significantly increased self-efficacy post-workshop for 6 of 9 ratings, which was sustained 3 months afterwards. Most (92%, n = 22 of 24 respondents) reported incorporating the workshop training into clinical practice at 3-month follow-up. CONCLUSIONS: With early success of the pilot workshops, future iterative work includes expanding workshops to earlier, interprofessional learners and collecting validity evidence for a competency-based performance checklist tool. To design an appealing time-restricted eating (TRE) intervention by exploring behavioral and social mechanisms to improve TRE adoption and maintenance among people with type 2 diabetes (T2D) and overweight. Time-restricted eating is an intermittent fasting regimen suggested to improve glycemic control and body weight. Intervention development combined coherence theory and empirical data (workshops and semistructured interviews with the target group, their relatives, and health care professionals [HCPs]). Abductive analysis was applied. The analysis suggested designing the TRE intervention in 2 phases: a short period with strict TRE, followed by a longer period focusing on adapting TRE to individual needs with support from HCPs, relatives, and peers. To reinforce TRE motivation and maintenance, HCPs should adopt a whole-person approach that focuses on participants' previous experiences. The workshop series sought to support food justice and sovereignty by educating food systems professionals about the root causes of inequities in the food system. Residents who are knowledgeable about food systems and active about food and agricultural issues are critical for the long-term success of efforts to develop an equitable food system. Education about food and agriculture can equip residents with the knowledge and skills to transform their food system and make positive changes in their communities. We sought to train food system stakeholders to help their communities affect those positive changes. The series reached a broad range of food system stakeholders, including community nutrition and garden educators, local government officials, producers, etc. Building Equity in the Silicon Valley Food Systems was a professional development series co-designed by community partners and cooperative extension advisors. Four webinars covered topics across the food system, including agricultural land access and housing, culture and power, and community-led approaches to food system work. A concluding in-person convening offered participants the opportunity to reflect on the series and develop a shared action plan to carry learnings from the series into their work. Surveys were administered at registration, after each workshop, and at the conclusion of the series. Respondents reported increased knowledge of equitable food systems (81%), the historical roots of inequity in land access and housing in Silicon Valley (81%), diverse cultural food traditions (80%), and strategies for promoting equity and community-led solutions (82%). 98% of respondents indicated they would take action – or had already taken action – as a result of the series. Those actions included increased collaboration, implementing values-based procurement, including more community voice in programming, and finally, a willingness to advocate for systems-level change. Co-designing a workshop series with community partners led to positive increased knowledge and intention of food system professionals to work towards a more participatory food system. Previous research has explored the effectiveness of wearable activity trackers (wearables) for increasing child physical activity (PA) levels, but there have been mixed results. The use of theoretical frameworks and co-design techniques are recognised ways of increasing an intervention's acceptability and effectiveness. This study aims to use co-design workshops and an evidence-based theoretical framework (the Behaviour Change Wheel) to develop a family-based PA intervention using wearables. Three stages of intervention development outlined by the Behaviour Change Wheel were used. Co-design workshops with seven families (11 parents and 12 children) and seven PA experts were conducted where stakeholders discussed how to overcome previously identified barriers to families being active and using wearables. This resulted in the intervention's components being developed, with each component's mechanisms of action (e.g. intervention functions and behaviour change techniques) being retrospectively identified. The 'Move & Connect' intervention was developed, which targets family PA and wearable use. The intervention takes a flexible approach and includes eight components, including wearable devices (Fitbit Alta HR), support resources, an introductory workshop, collective challenges, goal setting and reviewing, engagement prompts, social support and health-related resources (e.g. educational videos). The intervention incorporates six intervention functions targeting PA and wearable use: education, training, modelling, persuasion, incentivisation and environmental restructuring and 24 behaviour change techniques, including goal setting, social comparison, feedback on behaviour and graded task. This is the first known study to use an evidence-based framework and co-design to develop a family-based wearable intervention. The identification of the intervention's mechanisms of action will prove useful when implementing and evaluating the 'Move & Connect' intervention and allow researchers to replicate its components. Much applied health research pays insufficient attention to potential unequal impacts across social groups or is typically focused on a single dimension (e.g. socio-economic status), rarely considering the intersecting social processes driving inequalities (e.g. racism, sexism, classism). All health research needs a strong intersectional equity focus in order to inform action to reduce health inequalities as well as improve population health. Focus On Research and Equity (FOR EQUITY) is a new Web-based platform aiming to strengthen the intersectional equity focus of applied health research. The platform was developed in collaboration with members of the public, practitioners and researchers working internationally. The development involved a systematic review of academic and grey literature, a series of workshops and user testing. FOR EQUITY encompasses (1) a Health Inequalities Assessment Tool, with an intersectional perspective on inequalities; (2) a FOR EQUITY Guidance Inventory providing access to a range of international research toolkits and guidance; and (3) a FOR EQUITY Library including case studies illustrating how researchers have attempted to integrate an equity lens into the research process and more general resources on health inequalities. FOR EQUITY can support researchers to strengthen the equity lens in their studies to make research evidence more relevant for action to reduce social and health inequalities. However, a single focus on toolkits is unlikely to sufficiently address the barriers to embedding equity in research. Many countries only allow seed of registered varieties to be legally produced and sold in the market. Due to strict requirements regarding the characteristics (e.g., distinctness, uniformity, and stability) and performance (e.g., outperforming high-yielding varieties under standardized growing conditions) for varieties to be released, this implies that many farmers' varieties are confined to the spheres of the informal sector as 'potential planting materials': their production, use, exchange, and trade remain unregulated, largely unsupported, and their importance underestimated. The present article provides a guided approach on how to develop and implement a registration system suitable for farmers' varieties in full recognition of their inherent properties that often distinguish them from those that are developed in the formal seed sector. By following the seed regulatory value chain through which new crop varieties normally reach the market, this article analyses approaches to solve key questions that need to be addressed when adapting that regulatory chain to facilitate the registration and release of farmers' varieties. These questions range from what constitutes a farmers' variety to which rights a registrant may receive over the registered variety vis-à-vis other stakeholders. Answers are provided based on country cases, a literature review, and the learnings and inputs received during several stakeholder workshops and meetings organized in the context of seed system development programmes. Based on a discussion of the major principles and elements of current variety registration systems developed for the formal seed sector, our analysis leads to a plausible approach through which a farmers' variety registration system could be implemented. In that context, this study provides guidance on who qualifies to register a farmers' variety, how to agree on more flexible criteria for distinctness, uniformity, and stability, and elaborates key principles that can inform solutions for the division and distribution of rights, and access and benefit-sharing. Several national governments have indicated their interest in implementing a farmers' variety registration system. However, the practicalities on the ground and the principles that could guide implementation have not been elaborated or well-defined in the literature. This article aims to fill that gap. Through the registration and diffusion of farmers' varieties, governments will contribute to an increase of on-farm agro-biodiversity that can enhance farmers' resilience and livelihoods, while contributing to the implementation of Farmers' Rights as defined in the FAO International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture. The Kindai University Reactor, UTR-KINKI, is a research reactor with a rated thermal power of 1 W. The reactor is designed especially for education and training at universities and has been utilized for the education and training of nuclear engineering students in Japan since its first criticality in 1961. It is also used to educate the general public about nuclear science and technology, such as in training workshops for science teachers and high school students. Recently, it has been used to train nuclear engineers from overseas. Under the framework of allowing researchers from all over Japan to use the reactor, researches are conducted such as detector testing, reactor physics experiments, biological irradiations, and so on. Compassion in healthcare is valued by patients, healthcare professionals (HCPs), and leads to improved outcomes. Notwithstanding reports of systemic failings in the provision of compassionate care, research regarding ways to intervene remains limited. The aim of this study is to clarify compassion intervention needs in a diverse HCP workforce in public secondary healthcare in Aotearoa New Zealand (NZ) by utilising a co-design process. The co-design process involved a series of workshops with clinicians followed by in-depth interviews with healthcare leaders to derive input regarding feasibility and implementation. Reflexive thematic analysis was used to analyze the data. There was a great deal of interest in compassion interventions from healthcare professionals and leaders. However, for compassion interventions to be acceptable, feasible, and effective, compassion interventions design should be reimagined and reflected at each step of interventional design and implementation and span across organizational levels. Namely, the results of the study showed the preference for non-individual focused multi-level interventions to build bridges and connections. The desired compassion intervention components included practising connecting with others' humanity, improving compassion knowledge and relational and reflective skills, and cultural safety and anti-racism training. Experiential training embedded in models of cultural dialogue was the preferred interventional modality. Prioritising leadership as an intervention site was suggested to improve leadership's buy-in of compassion interventions and possibly serve as a starting point for transforming the broader culture, reviving interconnectedness in a healthcare system described as fragmented, disconnected, and alienating with compassion also acting as an equalizer of power. • There is a great deal of interest in compassion interventions from HCPs and leaders. • The is a preference for non-individual-focused multi-level compassion interventions. • Compassion interventions should aim at reviving humanity and connections. • The preferred modality is experiential training embedded in cultural models. • Interventions targeting leadership are needed to improve buy-in. There is a critical global shortage of nurses in mental health, with workforce attrition due in large part to workplace stressors. Proactive strengths-based interventions to strengthen nurses' capacity to manage stress and improve mental health, wellbeing and resilience may also support workforce retention. To determine the effects of a resilience-building programme on mental health nurses' coping self-efficacy (primary outcome), and psychological distress, wellbeing, resilience, posttraumatic growth, emotional intelligence behaviours, workplace belonging, and turnover intention (secondary outcomes). Partially clustered randomised controlled trial. Large tertiary metropolitan mental health service in Australia. A total of 144 registered and enrolled nurses working clinically ≥ 0.6 full-time equivalent (73/intervention, 71/control), with 122 completing 3-month follow-up. The Promoting Resilience in Nurses programme is an evidence-based workplace intervention delivered by trained facilitators across two workshops. Surveys were administered online upon registration and prior to randomisation (Time 1) into Intervention or Control (no intervention) arms, and immediately after the final workshop (Time 2), and at three months follow-up (Time 3). Linear mixed models for outcome measures were fitted to Time 2 and 3 responses. There were seven intervention groups, with seven to 13 participants per group. Coping self-efficacy improved at Time 2 (estimated intervention effect 21.2 units, 95 % Confidence Intervals: 13.3 to 29.0) and Time 3 (12.1 units, 4.7 to 19.6), as well as wellbeing (Time 2: 9.2 units, 5.0 to 13.4), resilience (Time 2: 0.24 units, 0.01 to 0.46) and posttraumatic growth (Time 2: 16.1 units, 7.0 to 25.3). Psychological distress reduced (Time 2: − 3.7 units, − 6.2 to − 1.31). All were sustained at three months. Emotional intelligence behaviours were improved (Time 2: 3.5 units, 0.6 to 6.5) but not sustained. Workplace belonging improved at Time 3 (0.34 units, 0.02 to 0.65) only. No statistically significant effects for turnover intention. Despite major contextual challenges, the Promoting Resilience in Nurses programme achieved the aims of promoting nurses' efficacy to cope with stress and regulate their emotions and improving mental health and wellbeing. Experiencing physical symptoms that are medically not yet explained (MNYES) is associated with considerable burden in daily life. Research priorities in this area have been primarily investigator-driven. The present study identifies the top 10 research priorities, incorporating the views of patients, carers and healthcare professionals. This study used the Priority Setting Partnership approach in collaboration with the James Lind Alliance (JLA). The priority setting approach combines survey-based data from patients with a specific disorder/condition and relevant stakeholders (i.e., caregivers and healthcare professionals) with input from group meetings and a final priority setting consensus meeting. There were three consecutive phases: (1) online survey with an open-ended question to collect topics for future scientific research (N = 345 participants); (2) an online survey among stakeholders to prioritise the research questions generated in Phase 1 (N = 400); and (3) a final multi-stakeholder consensus meeting, held over two half-days to determine the final top 10 research priorities for the Netherlands (day 1 N = 25, day 2 N = 24). Phase 1 resulted in 572 topics, which were reduced to 37 summary research questions. Phase 2 resulted in 18 research priorities, that were ranked and the top 10 priorities were established during the final consensus meeting. The top 10 research priorities included three main themes: optimising efficient diagnosis and treatment, aetiology and prevention, and coping with MNYES. This study presents a unique workshop delivered in Israel via Zoom to 178 teachers working in heterogeneous classes. During the workshop, the teachers were shown quotes of 'black' students and 'white' teachers, asking them to find the connection between them and share their thoughts and feelings. Immediately following the workshop, the teachers wrote a reflection, and then again one month later. The researchers qualitatively analyzed the data - the teachers' responses and reflections. Findings indicate a 'crack' among the teachers. Healthcare worker burnout is a well-established phenomenon known to affect an individual's mental state, and has been shown to be diminished amongst individuals with higher levels of resilience. From a leadership perspective, practices that drive and inspire others to demonstrate resilience and surpass their own expectations fosters a resilient culture and allows employees to view adversity as an opportunity while knowing that support is omnipresent. In this paper, we describe and evaluate the outcomes of a virtual organizational intervention during the COVID-19 pandemic aimed to reduce healthcare staff burnout, and improve their levels of resilience, well-being, and self-compassion. Participants reported the workshops were relevant and provided strategies for wellness that were easy to incorporate into their daily routine. By nurturing one's own personal well-being through resiliency strategies learned in this educational series, staff can enact strategies to care for themselves, which in turn can contribute to organizational wide healthy work environments, improved health system outcomes, and enhanced patient care. Precision nutrition is an emerging concept that aims to develop nutrition recommendations tailored to different people's circumstances and biological characteristics. Responses to dietary change and the resulting health outcomes from consuming different diets may vary significantly between people based on interactions between their genetic backgrounds, physiology, microbiome, underlying health status, behaviors, social influences, and environmental exposures. On 11–12 January 2021, the National Institutes of Health convened a workshop entitled "Precision Nutrition: Research Gaps and Opportunities" to bring together experts to discuss the issues involved in better understanding and addressing precision nutrition. The workshop proceeded in 3 parts: part I covered many aspects of genetics and physiology that mediate the links between nutrient intake and health conditions such as cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer disease, and cancer; part II reviewed potential contributors to interindividual variability in dietary exposures and responses such as baseline nutritional status, circadian rhythm/sleep, environmental exposures, sensory properties of food, stress, inflammation, and the social determinants of health; part III presented the need for systems approaches, with new methods and technologies that can facilitate the study and implementation of precision nutrition, and workforce development needed to create a new generation of researchers. The workshop concluded that much research will be needed before more precise nutrition recommendations can be achieved. This includes better understanding and accounting for variables such as age, sex, ethnicity, medical history, genetics, and social and environmental factors. The advent of new methods and technologies and the availability of considerably more data bring tremendous opportunity. However, the field must proceed with appropriate levels of caution and make sure the factors listed above are all considered, and systems approaches and methods are incorporated. OBJECTIVE: To create and validate a checklist for high-quality documentation and pilot a multi-modal, immersive educational module across multiple institutions. We hypothesized that this module would improve knowledge, skills, and attitudes in medical documentation. METHODS: Module design was grounded in an established curriculum design framework. We conducted the study across 12 pediatric critical care fellowship programs between September 2017 and January 2018. Workshops were allotted 90 minutes for completion. We utilized a pre-/post- study design to determine the workshop's impact. Changes in knowledge were assessed through pre and post testing. Changes in skills were evaluated with a validated checklist for inclusion of key documentation elements. Changes in attitudes were determined through learner self-assessment Results: 83 of 138 eligible fellows (60%) started the module and 62 of 83 (75%) completed data sets for analysis. Immediate post-testing demonstrated modest statistically significant improvement in knowledge, skills, and attitudes. The workshop was easily disseminated and deployed CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrates that a multi-modal educational intervention can lead to improvement in medical documentation knowledge, skills, and attitudes in a cohort of PCCM fellows and be easily disseminated for use by other specialties and types of clinicians. To identify 1) the current state of pediatric and adolescent gynecology (PAG) provision of care; 2) barriers to practicing PAG; and 3) the need for increased PAG training in residency and continuing medical education (CME). Obstetricians and gynecologists (OB/GYNs) across Canada who currently practice gynecology were asked to complete an anonymous, self-administered, Internet-based survey. One-hundred and forty-seven OB/GYNs across Canada responded to the survey, and after applying exclusion criteria (retired gynecologists, medical students, postgraduate trainees, gynecologists who do not currently practice gynecology, PAG specialists, or OB/GYNs seeing predominantly pregnant adolescent women), 135 were included. Seventy-six percent of survey respondents stated that they care for pediatric and adolescent patients in their practice. The pathologies and surgeries they are comfortable managing are those that are similar to the adult population, such as intrauterine device insertion in the office/OR, adnexal detorsion, laparoscopy in patients over 12 years of age, examination under anesthesia, and hymenectomy. Respondents who stated wanting to learn more about PAG preferred either online learning modules (85%) or CME workshops at regional meetings (91%). Canadian OB/GYNs provide PAG care with very little training to support their work. This paper develops the concept of 'thick time' through podcast experiments that foreground feminist voice, speech and aurality. Drawing upon William Kentridge's notion of 'thick time', this paper draws upon gendered experiences of struggles that are accumulated over generations, reinforced through technologies of timekeeping and time-management, leading to a state of permanent crisis. In particular, it focusses on gendered time through thick descriptions marked by fragmentation and simultaneity and heavy with the struggles of the past, present and future. Using experimentation as a method of examining thick time, I document how the temporalities of an intimate domesticity under crisis unfolds in parallel with the public crisis of a pandemic. Experimentation emerges in podcast training workshops with young women living in resettlement colonies in Delhi's urban peripheries, leading to a series of four podcasts co-produced remotely during the COVID19 lockdown. These podcasts are marked by fragments of speech, poetry, and music by those who are unable to speak to the state or to their families directly. They suggest how entangling the body (as voice, accent and language) with thick descriptions of time is possible through the unwinding, slowing down, rewinding and enriching the experience and significance of time in their lives. The podcasts are marked by repetition, futility, in-betweenness and remarkability, and the paper suggests that podcasts as experiments in value-laden thick descriptions of time can reveal pathways to feminist urban futures. Since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022, millions of people have fled the country. Most people have gone to the neighbouring countries of Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Moldova. This vulnerable population has significant healthcare needs. Among the most challenging to address will be chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including mental disorders, as these require long-term, continuous care and access to medicines. Host country health systems are faced with the challenge of ensuring accessible and affordable care for NCDs and mental disorders to this population. Our objectives were to review host country health system experiences and identify priorities for research to inform sustainable health system responses to the health care needs of refugees from Ukraine. In-person conference workshop. A workshop on this subject was held in November 2022 at the European Public Health Conference in Berlin. The workshop included participants from academia and non-governmental organisations, health practitioners, and World Health Organisation regional and country offices. As part of the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) Sub-regional Approach to the Pacific Islands (SAPI) framework for cooperation within the technical cooperation programme, the IAEA is partnering with Monash University, Australia, to host a series of training courses for radiographers from the Pacific Islands. The aim of this presentation is to share the education partnership and learning experiences of the Pacific Islanders as we worked collaboratively to develop the next generation of radiography leaders. Two basic training workshops were conducted at Monash University in April and October 2023. These workshops focused on the basics of quality assurance, quality control, radiation protection, radiographic positioning and fundamentals of image interpretation. Following the success of the 2023 workshops, the education initiative was further extended to develop participants' leadership capabilities by empowering them to lead and be agents of change. There were 13 and 15 participants in the April and October workshop respectively. 93% of the participants in both workshops strongly agreed and agreed to the workshops being well designed, relevance of the content and that they were able to implement their learning in their home country. In respond to feedback from the April participants, more image interpretation sessions and visits to radiology departments were introduced in the October workshop. Due to the success of the 2023 workshops, a leadership workshop will be conducted in May 2024. Results of the May workshop will be shared in this ISRRT Congress. The extension of a third workshop to include leadership development is timely as Pacific Islands radiographers work in isolation without a radiologist on site, thereby requiring them to assume more responsibilities and autonomy. Sexual harassment in secondary school is common but only recently acknowledged as a widespread problem in the United Kingdom. There is limited research on how schools respond to incidents of sexual harassment. The aim of this study was to understand how school systems shape the dynamics of disclosure, reporting and handling of sexual harassment in school (including behaviours, processes, norms), and to identify opportunities for effecting systems change. We used participatory systems mapping to elicit school stakeholders' perspectives on systems factors and their connections. Researchers built the map based on in-person workshops with students (n = 18) and staff (n = 4) from three schools in Scotland. Survey data (n = 638 students; n = 119 staff) was used to augment participant perspectives. The map was validated via three workshops (two online, one in-person) involving students and staff from seven schools. The final map (causal loop diagram) represents a hypothesised system of 25 causally connected factors and three feedback loops shaping the disclosure, reporting and handling of sexual harassment. We grouped these factors into four interlinked themes: 1] Knowledge and confidence; 2] Trust in reporting system and processes; 3] Communication, confidentiality and safeguarding; and, 4] Prioritisation of sexual harassment. This study highlights the interconnectedness of factors shaping disclosure, reporting and handling of sexual harassment within secondary schools. To assess the effectiveness of training workshops on scratch cooking, local food procurement and service, culturally inclusive meals, leadership, culinary skills, and the Transitional Standards for Milk, Whole Grains, and Sodium (Transitional Nutrition Standards) for Virginia school nutrition directors. The curriculum was informed by a needs assessment conducted in December 2022-February 2023, led by the Virginia Department of Education, Office of School and Community Nutrition Programs for the Fiscal Year 2022 Team Nutrition Training Grant. Participants were Virginia school nutrition directors or designees, as key change agents for improving school nutrition environments. Thirty-nine (39) Virginia school nutrition directors or designees attended one (1) of two (2), two (2)-day training workshops in October 2023. Each workshop included hands-on culinary skills and classroom training. The evaluation used pre- and post-surveys. Five-point Likert scales were used to assess confidence in scratch cooking, local food procurement and service, culturally inclusive meals, leadership, culinary skills, and the Transitional Nutrition Standards. Directors rated perceived importance of school nutrition initiatives with a five-point Likert scale and reported how well they were currently implementing the Transitional Nutrition Standards. Descriptive statistics, paired sample t-tests, and response frequency were calculated for appropriate questions. Directors reported statistically significant (p<0.05) increases in confidence for scratch cooking, local foods, culturally inclusive meals, culinary skills, and leadership. Perceived importance of increasing scratch cooking and local foods, and confidence and adherence to the Transitional Nutrition Standards did not significantly change. The training was effective in increasing directors' skills and confidence. Additional training to contextualize and demonstrate importance of scratch cooking, local food procurement and service, and culturally inclusive meals may be required. Directors were confident in the Transitional Nutrition Standards prior to the workshop and a significant increase in confidence may have been difficult to achieve. To evaluate the implementation of a free nutrition education resource for 4th-grade students. Our curriculum increases students' knowledge of label reading and affects students' attitudes regarding food marketing (Cognitive Factors). Students gain and practice real-life skills throughout our workshop (Behavioral Factors). Because our program is administered to an entire classroom, teachers report changes in classroom norms around how students discuss food choices, and anecdotally report that students are taking their learning home to impact their family's shopping behaviors (Environmental Factors). 4th graders Our website uses a series of live-action videos, animations, and "Briefings" (A.K.A. instructions) to help keep classrooms engaged and on track. The content, 3 hours in total, is divided into six modules that can be facilitated any time during the workshop week. Before workshop and after workshop nutrition knowledge surveys. Surface defect detection in precision metal workpieces is critical for ensuring product quality. Due to the weak and diverse defect object area in precision metal workpieces, they lead to high missed and false inspections. This paper proposes a novel machine vision solution to address challenges, focusing on two aspects. First, we develop a raster rotation imaging method, which shows defect area more salient than general imaging. Second, we propose a modified detection model named ESMNet based on YOLOv7-tiny by integrating the ELAN-SC module, which is designed to reduce feature redundancy and enhance salient feature learning, and the Multi-Scale Cross Fusion Attention (MCF) module, which helps to aggregate local contexts of weak defect area. Additionally, we gather defect samples to construct the CSD-DET dataset of defects on cylindrical surface to support the training and evaluation of detection models. Experiments on the CSD-DET dataset demonstrate that ESMNet achieves a 0.8% improvement in mean Average Precision (mAP) over state-of-the-art methods while maintaining low computational complexity, showcasing outstanding detection performance. To evaluate the suitability of a drama-based workshop as a method for ethical deliberation. Nurses worldwide are inadequately prepared to care for people who desire hastened death, which can lead to ethical and moral dilemmas. To address this problem, we developed a drama-based ethical deliberation workshop to assist nurses in these situations. Senghor and Racine's three moments of ethical deliberation and their quality criteria served as basis for evaluation. Qualitative descriptive study design. Non-participant observations and a survey with incomplete sentences to be completed by nursing students were used. Data analysis followed Mayring's deductive content analysis approach. All three moments of ethical deliberation according to Senghor and Racine were identified. Participants recognised hastened death as morally problematic, shared their experiences and gained a deeper understanding of the problem. They reported feeling better prepared for encounters with persons seeking assisted suicide. In terms of its quality, the drama-based workshop achieved good and partial ethical deliberation. The workshop has demonstrated its suitability as a method for ethical deliberation. The workshop should be complemented by specific modules, such as communication skills and be tailored to other professional groups. Pediatric obesity is a primary public health concern, and designing effective programs for managing it is of the utmost importance. The objective of this study was to describe the protocol study of a three-arm, parallel, randomized controlled trial aimed at assessing the efficacy of a family-system-based intervention ("ENTREN-F" program) for managing childhood obesity, compared to the "ENTREN" program (no "F" - without specific family-system-based workshop) and a control group (behavioral monitoring). The ENTREN-F program was a multicomponent family-system-based intervention carried out by a multidisciplinary team in the primary health care setting. The program targeted children between 8 and 12 years with overweight and obesity (P ≥ 85th). Parents were actively involved in the process. The contents were designed using the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles. The program comprised individual behavioral monitoring, a healthy habits workshop for children and their parents, a CBT workshop for children, and a family-system-based workshop for parents, enhancing parental management skills plus family functioning. The trial's primary outcomes included changes in child body mass index (BMI) z-scores, child's psychological well-being, and family functioning over six months. Secondary outcomes included changes in eating behavior, physical activity, self-esteem, parental distress, parental feeding practices, and parental modeling. To our knowledge, this is one of the few randomized controlled trials to assess the efficacy of a multicomponent program that considers health from a comprehensive perspective, trying to improve children's psychological well-being and family functioning besides weight loss. This study, therefore, addresses a gap in the literature. If found to be efficacious, it suggests a new potential health service for translation into National Primary Health Care services in Spain, one of the ten countries with the highest prevalence of obesity in Europe. Background The obesogenic environment of Western countries raises questions about its current management. Some clinical studies have explored hypnosis, although the current state of knowledge does not lead to definitive conclusions about its efficacy. Objectives We assessed the impact of Ericksonian hypnosis and self-hypnosis on disinhibition of eating in adults with obesity and high food impulsivity levels, compared with standard nutritional education. Methods From September 2014 to July 2015, adults with BMI (in kg/m2) of 30–40 and a high disinhibition score [>8 on the Three Factor Eating Questionnaire (TFEQ-51)] were included in a randomized controlled trial. The control and hypnosis groups received the same standard nutrition education in 8 workshops. In the hypnosis group, subjects had 8 sessions of hypnosis combined with training in self-hypnosis. Disinhibition (primary outcome) and other scores from the TFEQ-51 as well as anthropometric, food intake, cardiometabolic, and physical activity variables were collected at inclusion and at 8 mo. Results Of 82 randomly assigned adults, 70 participated in all sessions; 80 participated in ≥1 session and were included in the main analysis (hypnosis group, n  = 41; control group, n  = 39). After 8 mo of follow-up, disinhibition scores adjusted for baseline values were lower in the hypnosis group, with a mean between-group difference of 4.2 (95% CI: 2.8, 5.5; P  < 0.001); 67.7% of adults in the hypnosis group had normalized their disinhibition (compared with 11.1% in control; P  < 0.0001). Differences for weight (1.8 kg; 95% CI: −0.1, 3.7 kg; P  = 0.052), BMI (0.8; 95% CI: 0.1, 1.4; P  = 0.028), susceptibility to hunger score (2.2; 95% CI: 1.0, 3.3; P  < 0.001), and its 2 subscales also favored the hypnosis group. Conclusions In the management of adults with obesity and a high disinhibition score, hypnosis and self-hypnosis can significantly improve the deep mechanisms of eating behaviors and seem to have a beneficial effect on weight loss. This study determined which workshop topics are of most interest to graduate students in the humanities, science, and social science disciplines, and what their preferences are for workshop formats, times, and communication. Topics in demand by students were evaluated against those identified as very important by graduate program directors. In addition to disciplinary differences, the needs of master's and doctoral students were compared (and contrasted). Findings were shared with multiple campus units and utilized to develop workshops and other services to more fully support graduate students with their research, grant, career, teaching, and technology training requirements. Acupuncture has been shown to improve pain and other health outcomes in children and is well tolerated. However, use of acupuncture by pediatric medical providers is rare, in part due to the cost and time associated with formal training. We aimed to develop an abbreviated acupuncture curriculum and assess its impact and acceptability with academic pediatricians. In this pilot study, pediatricians received instruction in 2 acupuncture protocols for treating acute and chronic pain (Battlefield Acupuncture and Four Gates) during a 10-hour course developed by board-certified medical acupuncturists. Learning methods included an online module with videos and articles, 2 live workshops, and additional home practice. Participants completed a skills-based exam and pre- and post-tests measuring knowledge and attitudes about acupuncture treatment. Forty-five physicians (divided among 3 cohorts) began the acupuncture training course, and 38 (84.4%) completed all components. The course significantly increased participants' perceived efficacy of acupuncture for acute and chronic pain. Participants showed significant improvement in acupuncture knowledge. All participants agreed that the course would influence their current medical practice, and all participants felt confident utilizing basic acupuncture. Additionally, all participants indicated that they would recommend the abbreviated acupuncture curriculum to a colleague. Pediatricians became proficient in 2 acupuncture protocols with a 10-hour curriculum and found the format and content highly acceptable. Severe Acute Respiratory Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) was identified in late 2019, spreading to over 200 countries and resulting in almost two million deaths worldwide. The emergence of safe and effective vaccines provides a route out of the pandemic, with vaccination uptake of 75–90% needed to achieve population protection. Vaccine hesitancy is problematic for vaccine rollout; global reports suggest only 73% of the population may agree to being vaccinated. As a result, there is an urgent need to develop equitable and accessible interventions to address vaccine hesitancy at the population level. & Method: We report the development of a scalable digital intervention seeking to address COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy and enhance uptake of COVID-19 vaccines in the United Kingdom. Guided by motivational interviewing (MI) principles, the intervention includes a series of therapeutic dialogues addressing 10 key concerns of vaccine-hesitant individuals. Development of the intervention occurred linearly across four stages. During stage 1, we identified common reasons for COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy through analysis of existing survey data, a rapid systematic literature review, and public engagement workshops. Stage 2 comprised qualitative interviews with medical, immunological, and public health experts. Rapid content and thematic analysis of the data provided evidence-based responses to common vaccine concerns. Stage 3 involved the development of therapeutic dialogues through workshops with psychological and digital behaviour change experts. Dialogues were developed to address concerns using MI principles, including embracing resistance and supporting self-efficacy. Finally, stage 4 involved digitisation of the dialogues and pilot testing with members of the public. The digital intervention provides an evidence-based approach to addressing vaccine hesitancy through MI principles. The dialogues are user-selected, allowing exploration of relevant issues associated with hesitancy in a non-judgmental context. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a behavioral intervention demonstrating sustained improvements in anxiety in individuals with chronic anxiety and psychological distress. Because anxiety disorders are associated with the development of cardiovascular disease (CVD), we hypothesized that a novel 1-day ACT workshop would both lower anxiety and improve vascular function in persons with moderate/high anxiety. In a randomized controlled study, 72 adults (age 33.9 ± 8.6 (SD) years) with baseline moderate/high anxiety completed a one-day ACT intervention (n = 44, age 33.9 ± 8.7 years) or control (n = 28, age 37.1 ± 10.1 years). Pre-specified secondary outcomes were measured over 12 weeks: aortic stiffness (carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity [cfPWV]), forearm vascular endothelial function (post-ischemic peak forearm blood flow [FBF] via plethysmography), and brachial artery flow-mediated dilation (FMD). Carotid artery stiffness (β-stiffness index), and inflammatory markers (C-reactive protein and tumor necrosis factor-alpha) were also explored. Although the intervention had a significant and sustained effect on the primary outcome of anxiety as measured by the Beck Anxiety Inventory, the 1-day ACT workshop was not associated with improvement in vascular or inflammatory endpoints. The intervention was unexpectedly associated with increases in β-stiffness index that were also associated with changing trait anxiety. Anxiety improvements did not translate into improvements in any of the vascular function outcomes. This may reflect a less-than-robust effect of the intervention on anxiety, failure in design to select those with vascular dysfunction, or not intervening on a relevant causal pathway. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 353 healthcare workers from January 2020 to March 2020, at four hospitals in Islamabad, Pakistan. Training feedback questionnaires and pre and post tests were employed for data collection. The authors analyzed data using SPSS version 25. The majority (52%) of participants rated the trainings as "Excellent", 44% rated "Good" while 2% graded "Average". Pre and post-tests mean scores demonstrated statistically significant improvement in knowledge and skills (p< 0.001). The training workshops significantly improved healthcare workers' knowledge and skills regarding Infection Prevention and Control and earned high satisfaction scores from the trainees. There has been a steady increase in library literature on “flipping the classroom.” This teaching strategy requires students to review course material outside the classroom beforehand, thereby allowing more time during workshops to apply newly gained knowledge and techniques. The proliferation of literature on classroom flipping provoked an interest to determine if other academic libraries were making explicit reference on their websites to the preliminary viewing of videos in a classroom context. To ascertain the extent of this practice, and inform the development of instructional videos at McGill, the authors surveyed all Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL) and Association of Research Libraries (ARL) websites to document the production of instructional videos, determine the various types of videos, and take note of explicit pre-viewing instructions prior to a workshop. Of the 140 libraries examined, 107 (76%) provide instructional videos on their website. However, of this group, only 2 (2%) clearly instruct users to watch instructional videos before attending a library research workshop. To describe the participatory approach used to inform the development of a video game designed to increase children's nutrition knowledge. The objectives were to (1) assess children's nutrition areas of focus, (2) explore parents' and children's perceptions of video games for nutrition education, and (3) collect information on children's video game preferences. Qualitative research design using 10 focus group interviews and 5 workshops. Children's nutrition knowledge and game player type were assessed by questionnaires. South Island, New Zealand. Sixty-two primary school children, aged 7–11 years. Ten parents completed an online questionnaire. Participatory approach in designing digital nutrition education resources. A general inductive approach was used to develop the themes. The following 3 themes were identified through thematic analysis: (1) positive impacts associated with video games for nutrition education, (2) factors for engagement, and (3) barriers for sustained use. Both children and parents perceived that video games offered an avenue to increase nutrition knowledge. However, negative views such as screen time usage need to be addressed before widespread adoption.
