Carbon paper is one of the most widely used gas diffusion layer substrate materials due to its stable performance, relatively low cost, and easy for subsequent processing. Water-soluble phenolic resin, which is more ecologically friendly than alcohol-soluble phenolic resin, was used to prepare carbon paper as the precursor of the carbon matrix. And the effect of different resin solution concentrations on the properties of carbon paper was explored. The results showed that the graphitization, electrical conductivity and mechanical properties of carbon paper increased with the increase of resin solution concentration. When the concentration of resin solution was 20 wt%, the performance of carbon paper was relatively optimal. The graphitization of the carbon paper reached 65.45%, the porosity reached 80.74%, the resistance value at 1 MPa pressure was only 7.61 mΩ cm2, the tensile strength was 1.57 MPa, and the elastic modulus was 1210.98 MPa. Enzymes derived from microbial sources have gained increasing popularity in industrial applications over the past decades. Despite the high production cost, alkaline proteases have wide applications in industries such as tanneries, food production, and detergents. In recent years, there has been a shift towards utilizing natural carbon sources for cultivating microorganisms and extracting proteases in order to reduce production costs. This study aimed to investigate the biochemical and kinetic properties of protease enzymes obtained from Aspergillus niger cultivated in a paper waste medium and compare with the enzyme produced in a basal medium. Glucose is a more favorable carbon source compared to cellulose, so paper waste was pretreated with cellulose-degrading bacteria to convert cellulose into smaller carbohydrates. After the growth of A. niger in basal and combinational media, the enzymatic properties were compared between the extracted enzymes by using casein as substrate. The results demonstrated that A. niger could produce protease enzymes in the paper waste medium similar to the basal medium with more than 5-fold cost saving. The specific activity of the enzymes isolated from the basal and paper waste media was calculated to be 184.95 ± 10.56 U ml−1 and 169.88 ± 11.05 U ml−1, respectively. Carbon sources did not affect the optimum pH and temperature of the protease enzyme, which were found to be 8 and 37 °C, respectively. This study provides valuable insights into the production of alkaline protease from A. niger using a combinational medium (paper waste pretreated by cellulose-degrading bacteria), offering a cost-effective approach for industrial applications. Despite incredible growth in systems of care and rapidly expanding therapeutic options for people with inflammatory bowel disease, there are significant barriers that prevent patients from benefiting from these advances. These barriers include restrictions in the form of prior authorization, step therapy, and prescription drug coverage. Furthermore, inadequate use of multidisciplinary care and inflammatory bowel disease specialists limits patient access to high-quality care, particularly for medically vulnerable populations. However, there are opportunities to improve access to high-quality, patient-centered care. This position statement outlines the policy and advocacy goals that the American Gastroenterological Association will prioritize for collaborative efforts with patients, providers, and payors. Bibliometric analysis of highly cited papers facilitates researchers in formulating strategic research possibilities and addressing gaps in specific domains. In this context, a bibliometric analysis was conducted to identify published papers on "oral mucosal lesions in COVID-19" within medical literature. A comprehensive search was performed in the Scopus database in July 2023. Relevant articles were retrieved, reviewed, and data for the bibliometric analysis was recorded. Network visualization of authors, countries, and keywords was generated using VOSviewer software. The analyzed articles were published over the last three years, from 2020 to 2023, with the highest output observed in 2021. The citation count for individual papers ranged from 1 to 340, with a mean of 22.325 ± 58.93 citations. A total of 37 journals were involved in publishing papers on this topic, and five authors each contributed three papers. Notably, Brazil made the highest number of contributions with eight papers. Among the 40 papers, 19 were review papers and 16 were articles discussing various aspects of oral mucosal lesions in COVID-19 patients. Additionally, six papers were identified as systematic reviews, designated with a high level of evidence. This study presents a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of papers published on "oral mucosal lesions in COVID-19." The findings will assist researchers in identifying impactful papers, understanding the prevailing research trends, and guiding future research directions in this domain. To solve the durability problem caused by carbon corrosion in the porous carbon paper gas diffusion layer (GDL) of proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC), a Cr 7 C 3 ceramic coating on porous carbon paper by molten salt method was prepared. The obtained Cr 7 C 3 coating is dense and shows good adherent with the carbon paper. Based on the corrosion resistance testes, it is concluded that the Cr 7 C 3 coated carbon paper can keep high chemical stability in the long-time acid immersion accelerated corrosion tests and simulated cathodic proton exchange membrane fuel cells environment. The carbon paper with Cr 7 C 3 coating shows a small current density with a value of about 1.1 × 10−5 A cm−2 in the potentiostatic polarization test under 1 M H 2 SO 4 + 2 ppm HF at 70 °C and1.4 V SCE for 72 h. Meanwhile, the resistivity of carbon paper with Cr 7 C 3 coating prepared is 30% lower than that of pure carbon paper, and the conductivity is 1.5 times that of pure carbon paper. Ni-doped WC/Mo 2 C composites for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) were synthesized in situ grown on carbon fiber paper (CFP) by molten salt method in argon at 1000 °C for 6 h, named as Ni-xWC-y/2Mo 2 C@CFP. The effects of different W/Mo molar ratios (3:1, 2:1, 1:1, 1:2, 1:3) on the phase composition, microstructures, and HER performances were investigated. The results showed that the W/Mo molar ratio had a synergistic effect in HER of Ni-doped WC/Mo 2 C composites, and as W/Mo molar ratio at 1:1, the composite presented the best electrocatalytic activity. Meanwhile, its surface appeared to have a wrinkle-like structure, and the biphasic heterostructure emerged at the intersection of the dual-phase WC and Mo 2 C lattices. The introduction of a biphasic heterostructure could promote charge transfer and improve HER efficiency. Predictably, the electrocatalysts with the optimal W/Mo molar ratio 1:1 exhibited the best hydrogen evolution performance, needed only 43.7 mV overpotential to reach 10 mA cm−2 current density with a Tafel slope at 21.3 mV dec−1. This paper describes the fabrication and characterization of porous SiC ceramics derived from highly-filled preceramic papers. The SiC ceramics were obtained by spark plasma sintering of stacked preceramic papers at temperatures of 2100 and 2200 °C under pressures of 5–60 MPa for 10 min. The microstructure and phase composition were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction, respectively. Gas permeation tests were performed using hydrogen permeation cell at room temperature. It is revealed that the porosity of sintered SiC can be varied from 9 to 45 % depending on the sintering parameters. The shrinkage of the materials during spark plasma sintering occurs in four stages. The linear shrinkage value of the material increases from 7 to 47 % at 2100 °C and from 20 to 50 % for the samples sintered at 2100 and 2200 °C, respectively. Correlation dependencies between porosity and mechanical properties of the fabricated SiC were established. The obtained porous SiC ceramics exhibit high bending strength of 165 MPa and gas permeation flux of 78 molH 2 /m2/s at the porosity of 36 % that make it suitable for ceramic-based membranes. Aerogel composites reinforced by fibers have found extensive applications in the field of thermal insulation and energy conservation. However, the composites are hindered by their high infrared radiation transmittance and weak interface adhesion in practical applications. Herein, we designed and prepared a novel thin composite called 'fiber/whisker/aerogel paper' (SWAP) with a thickness of less than 1 mm. The SWAP integrated SiC nanowhiskers (SiC nw) as opacifiers and ultrafine SiO 2 fibers as reinforcement, fabricated through wet manufacturing and sol-gel process. The 'fiber/aerogel paper' (SAP) and SWAP exhibited low thermal conductivity at room temperature, measuring 0.025 W/(m·K) and 0.033 W/(m·K), respectively. Additionally, they exhibited low densities of 0.195 g/cm3 and 0.225 g/cm3, respectively. Notably, SWAP exhibited excellent high-temperature insulation performance, primarily due to its low infrared transmittance (50% at 3 μm). The incorporation of SiC nw and ultrafine SiO 2 fibers collectively enhanced the interfacial adhesion with the aerogel matrix even amidst rigorous testing (weight loss less than 3%). SWAP also demonstrated flexibility, high thermal stability, hydrophobicity, and flame resistance. Furthermore, a comprehensive investigation into the performance variations and influencing g factors of the material was conducted under different heat treatment conditions. The ZrO 2 fiber paper exhibits excellent thermal insulation properties, however, its limited mechanical strength and insufficient thermal stability hinder its widespread applications. The composite fiber papers, using mullite fibers possessing a high aspect ratio and exceptional thermal stability combined with ZrO 2 fibers, were fabricated via a vacuum-assisted filtration method. This method involved the successive stacking of composite fibers with alumina sol, using vacuum-induced directed water flow to create a layered structure reminiscent of nacre. The layered structure of the nacre, which demonstrates remarkable strength and hardness, has also served as a source of inspiration for the architectural design of the fiber paper. The tensile strength of pure ZrO 2 fiber paper was significantly enhanced by the addition of 7 wt% mullite fibers, resulting in a remarkable increase to 0.1805 kN/m. The paper exhibited exceptional resistance to bending, maintaining 96 % of its bending strength even after undergoing 100 cycles. The thermal shrinkage of the composite paper, containing 15 wt% mullite fibers, was reduced from 17.75 % observed in pure ZrO 2 fiber paper to a mere 1.32 % after undergoing heat treatment at a temperature of 1300 °C for 2 h. The composite paper, measuring 5 mm in thickness and consisting of 7 wt% compositions, displayed exceptional thermal insulation properties when exposed to a hot side temperature of 1370 °C. This paper reflects the research to design and application the complex method to evaluate the quality of the paper written in the IMRaD format. As a field we choose Russian segment of the financial technologies area since we had interest to use multilingual language model. The method covers paper's relevance to the chosen field and internal topics, the actuality, relation between parts, text borrowing, and experiment part. The clustering and classifying algorithms, and language machine learning model were used. The experimental part based on corpus of Russian papers shows the deviation of method's recommendations from expert opinion not more than 20%. With the development of computer technology, automatic test paper generation systems have gradually become an effective tool for detecting and maintaining national machine security and protecting the rights and interests of workers. This article achieved multi-level oral scores for different types of questions through online scoring using artificial neural networks in recent years. Based on its specific situation and evaluation index requirements, an analysis module that is reasonable, efficient, and in line with the hierarchical structure and module requirements of national conditions has been designed to complete the research on automatic test paper generation technology, in order to help better manage and allocate human resources and improve production efficiency. Rewritable paper is of great significance for environmental and sustainable development. Specially, the water rewritable paper based on hydrochromism has aroused extensive research interesting for being clean, convenient and compatible with the current ink jet printer. Nevertheless, previously reported water rewritable paper requires complex and time-consuming fabricating process. Here, we report a facile strategy to fabricate structural colored water rewritable paper simply via two step infiltration on commercially available paper. After infiltration of graphene laminates and SiO 2 colloidal spheres in sequence, the obtained paper is integrated with assembled graphene laminates (AGLs)/amorphous colloidal arrays (ACAs) hierarchical composite structure. Owing to the advantageous micro-topography, selective separation capacity and high visible light absorption property of the underlying AGLs, SiO 2 ACAs with vivid structure color can be realized. Moreover, the hydrochomism of the hierarchical composite structure is resulted from the synergistic contribution of the hydrophilic structural color and the visible light absorption property of AGLs. Our strategy is based on the environmental-friendly structural color and convenient to realized, which offers a promising alternative to rapidly fabricate colored water rewritable paper. Here, we introduce rice-leaf-mimetic paper, inspired by the leaf's microstructure and biowax-based cuticle. This paper exhibits self-cleaning superhydrophobicity and showcases possibilities for additional functionalities, including antibacterial properties and food preservation, as evidenced in our prior research. We propose its utilization as a substrate for rewritable and biolubricant-infused surfaces. These somehow distinct surfaces draw inspiration from the chemistry and microstructure of the rice leaf. Although incorporating hydrochromic dyes enables rewritability, controlling the retention time of colors remains challenging. The biowaxy structure of the paper prolongs color maintenance by inhibiting water evaporation. Moreover, the hierarchically rough microstructure of rice-leaf-mimetic paper effectively stores biolubricant molecules, reducing friction and enhancing slipperiness. Surface microcavity ratio analysis provides insights into the paper's biolubricant-storability. The surface engineering of rice-leaf-mimetic paper using hydrochromic dyes or biolubricants holds potential for designing novel materials. • Liquid water saturation in carbon paper is measured • Quantifies the capillary trapping effect of isolated water drops in carbon papers • Proposes a model describing liquid water drops transport In previous macroscopic average models of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs), liquid water was assumed to be continuous throughout the carbon paper. The transport of disconnected water drops in carbon paper has long been neglected in these models, which tend to underestimate water saturation in carbon paper. This study proposes a two-phase flow model that considers the transport of disconnected water drops to simulate the air-water transport in carbon paper. The proposed model was established based on the relationship between capillary force and liquid water saturation, and this relationship was obtained by conducting centrifuge experiments. In the centrifuge experiment, initially, the water saturation inside the carbon paper sample was one, and the centrifugal acceleration was zero. As the centrifugal acceleration increased, the water saturation decreased owing to the centrifugal force. After twenty seconds, the water saturation no longer decreases because the centrifugal force on the liquid water is balanced by the capillary force. Centrifugal acceleration was used to evaluate the capillary force. When the centrifugal acceleration was 185 m s − 2 , the saturation of the water drops in the balanced state was 32.0%. As the centrifugal acceleration increases to 739 m s − 2 , the saturation decreases to 6.5%. According to the experimental results, a function correlating the saturation and centrifugal acceleration, that is, the capillary force, was established. Finally, the results show that the centrifugal acceleration is more than 18.5 times that of the gravitational acceleration, indicating that the effect of gravity on the motion of water drops is negligible. In the past decades, the German paper industry has been increasing the sustainability of paper production by continuously using more recovered paper. Today, recovered paper is an essential secondary raw material to produce new paper. Nevertheless, around 20 % of the paper produced in Germany is still not returned to the recovered paper stream and instead is mostly thermally used. To further increase the use of fibers from recovered paper as secondary raw material and thus, to reduce primary energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, new approaches to recycle recovered paper from mixed waste streams are needed. In the research project "Energy savings in paper production by opening up the value chains of recovered paper from lightweight packaging, residual waste and commercial waste" (EnEWA), a treatment process is developed to recover and recycle recovered paper from the mentioned waste streams. The advanced mechanical process to be newly developed consists of dry-mechanical sorting, the manufacturing of economically usable secondary raw materials (defibration), their wet-mechanical dissolution, separation and hygienization and finally their reuse in paper production. This enables the exploitation of new waste streams in material recycling and thus contributes to reduced energy consumption as well as CO2 emissions within the circular economy. Initial material characterization analyses show that on the one hand the quality of the paper discarded in mixed waste streams is sufficient to be used as secondary raw material and that on the other hand up to 50 % of the paper discarded could have been disposed of within the separate paper collection. The results are incorporated in the development of a sorting process for pre-concentrates, which serves as input material for the treatment process to recover paper fibers. Texas has the highest age-adjusted incidence rate of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in the United States. The Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas has funded the Texas Collaborative Center for Hepatocellular Cancer (TeCH) to facilitate HCC research, education, and advocacy activities with the overall goal of reducing HCC mortality in Texas through coordination, collaboration, and advocacy. On September 17, 2022, TeCH co-sponsored a multi-stakeholder conference on HCC with the Baker Institute Center for Health and Biosciences. This conference was attended by HCC researchers, policy makers, payers, members from pharmaceutical industry and patient advocacy groups in and outside of Texas. This report summarizes the results of the conference. The goal of this meeting was to identify different strategies for preventing HCC and evaluate their readiness for implementation. We call for a statewide (1) viral hepatitis elimination program; (2) program to increase nonalcoholic steatohepatitis and obesity awareness; (3) research program to develop health care models that integrate alcohol associated liver disease treatment and treatment for alcohol use disorder; and (4) demonstration projects to evaluate the effectiveness of identifying and linking patient with advanced fibrosis and cirrhosis to clinical care. This bibliographic analysis was designed to review all dental publications in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and evaluate the effect of international collaboration on the impact of published articles. The Web of Science (WOS) database was used to extract all related published articles in the KSA from 1982 to 2021. The keywords were connected using Boolean Operators to download related articles. Downloaded articles were screened according to the following inclusion criteria: collaboration journal category, journal discipline, number of citations, number of authors, and impact factor. After applying the inclusion criteria and excluding single-author articles, 5,689 documents were included in the final analysis. The chi-square test and two-independent samples t -test were used to determine the statistical significance between the variables. A significantly higher proportion of articles with international collaboration (51.4%) were published in dental journals than those published nationally (43.3%) or within the institutional level (41.8%) (P < 0.0001). In addition, the average number of citations (9.28 ± 23.8) ranged from 0 to 749, received by an article and the impact factor of the journal in which the article was published, significantly higher in the case of internationally collaborative work compared with national or within institutional collaboration (P < 0.0001). International collaboration positively affected the impact factor, number of citations, and quartile rank of published articles. The electroencephalogram (EEG) is one of the most useful technologies for brain research and clinical neurology, characterized by non-invasiveness and high time resolution. The acquired traces are visibly displayed, but various studies investigate the translation of brain waves in sound (i.e., a process called sonification). Several articles have been published since 1934 about the sonification of EEG traces, in the attempt to identify the "brain-sound." However, for a long time this sonification technique was not used for clinical purposes. The analog EEG was in fact already equipped with an auditory output, although rarely mentioned in scientific papers: the pen-on-paper noise made by the writer unit. EEG technologists often relied on the sound that pens made on paper to facilitate the diagnosis. This article provides a sample of analog video-EEG recordings with audio support representing the strengths of a combined visual-and-auditory detection of different types of seizures. The purpose of the present article is to illustrate how the analog EEG "sounded," as well as to highlight the advantages of this pen-writing noise. It was considered so useful that early digital EEG devices could be equipped with special software to duplicate it digitally. Even in the present days, the sonification can be considered as an attempt to modify the EEG practice using auditory neurofeedback with applications in therapeutic interventions, cognitive improvement, and basic research. The catalytic ozonation processes with continuous-flow reactors were used for pulp and paper mill wastewater treatment. The pollutants in wastewater can be degraded effectively by heterogeneous catalytic ozonation due to the production of hydroxyl radical (•OH) with strong oxidation power. For the natures of low weight, large specific surface area, excellent physical strength and stable chemical characteristics, the porous ceramsite was chosen for catalytic ozonation of wastewater in the present study, and the practical application parameters of the system were investigated for the actual pulp and paper mill wastewater (PPMW) in the continuous-flow reactor including temperatures, feeding flow rate, O 3 flow rate and O 3 dosage. The optimum experimental conditions were obtained (T = 25 ℃, feeding flow rate = 0.25 L/min, O 3 flow rate = 0.5 L/min, O 3 dosage = 15 g/L) for the process of catalytic ozonation. The results show that the effluent concentration of COD decreases from about 200 mg/L to 10 mg/L, namely the removal efficiency is about 95 %. The stability of the catalyst over time was tested in the continuous-flow reactor for 48 days, confirming that the porous ceramsite exhibits good performance in 30 days. The reusability of the catalyst was studied after the used catalyst was washed with Milli-Q water and ethanol, exhibiting good catalytic activity of the regenerated catalyst in three cycles. The fluorescent excitation-emission matrix (EEM), UV–vis analysis and GC–MS analysis were used for analyzing the organic pollutants in raw PPMW and after treatment. These results indicate that the process of catalytic ozonation with porous ceramsite has a high treatment efficiency on PPMW, and the continuous-flow reactor can be more practically used for a full-scale community PPMW application at a mill level. Generally, the generated ash is landfilled, particularly in BC, with only a small amount being used beneficially. It is anticipated that the difficulty associated with the management of ash will worsen over time as the industry increases its reliance on green fuel. Thus, there is a strong need to identify beneficial uses of pulp and paper boiler ash for the sake of environmental and economic sustainability. The purpose of this report is to provide the first step in this direction, a review of proposed or implemented uses for coal and hog (or wood) ash around the world. Considering both the properties of the ash and local opportunities, this could be the first step toward screening the applications that may apply to individual mills. Several large-scale practices use ash, such as land application (as a nutrient source or as a liming agent), use in the construction industry (as a replacement for cement or as a fill material), and reclamation of mine sites and stabilization of unpaved forest roads. In some cases, relatively small-scale applications have been used which included uses such as a compost component, agent for pH adjustment of liquid streams and slurries, blasting abrasive, and source of quartz for glass manufacturing to name a few. It is important to note that the chemical nature of both fly and bottom ashes can be quite variable due to the type of wood residues combusted as well as combustion equipment used and must be considered in identifying beneficial applications. PPMS are now more widely reused in agriculture as a soil amendment due to their high organic content of 40--50% by weight, perceived low toxicity and possible liming capabilities. Within this review article historic and recent literature on PPMS land spreading are combined with knowledge of European and UK regulation to explore the benefits, potential impacts and viability of land spreading PPMS. The review reveals that risks relating to potential N immobilisation in soils post-application can be readily mitigated, if desired, by coapplication of an N source, or even pre-treatment of sludge via composting. The benefits to crops have been demonstrated emphatically, while negative ecological impacts under typical field application rates have not been observed to date. The case is therefore strong for continued land application of the material as an environmentally responsible and sustainable use option. However, there are currently gaps in the literature regarding longer-term implications of PPMS applications in agriculture and in regards to the possible presence of emerging contaminants in some PPMS materials, both of which have been identified as areas that merit further research. The excellent performance of high-valent iron-oxo species (FeIV O) in the degradation of pollutants by activating peroxymonosulfate (PMS) had attracted much attention. However, the generation and reaction mechanisms were still unclear. In this study, iron-rich paper mill sludge was used as a raw material for the first time to prepare iron-based catalysts with abundant octahedral FeIII sites (Fe oct III). The results showed that the highest content of Fe oct III was found in the paper mill sludge ash obtained by aerobic calcination at 800 °C (pm SA800), and the pm SA800 could exhibit excellent catalytic activity (0.4785 min−1) and stability during the oxytetracycline (OTC) degradation process. The characterization and density functional theory (DFT) calculations further indicated that the Fe oct III was the dominant active site for FeIV O production. PMS tended to be adsorbed on two adjacent Fe oct III sites to form a [Fe oct III-OSO 2 OO(H)-Fe oct III] complex with a two-site adsorption configuration. Subsequently, the O O and O H bonds in [Fe oct III-OSO 2 OO(H)-Fe oct III] broken by absorbing energy, generating FeIV O. It's worth noting that the Ca species of pm SA800 effectively stabilized the pH of the reaction solution, which ensured the stable and continuous production of FeIV O. Waste paper and tyre are typical solid wastes with distinct composition. Their pyrolysis could generate varied volatiles that may interact with each other or with resulting char. In this study, the co-pyrolysis of waste paper and tyre was investigated at 400 and 600 ºC, with the focus on understanding the interaction of the volatiles on evolution of the products. The results show that the interaction of the volatiles at 400 ºC forms more gaseous products like CO and CO 2 , while the interactions of the heavier organics at 600 ºC forms more oil (49.3% vs 42.6%). The interaction of the volatiles also affects the generation of sulfur-containing organics and diminishes the paper-derived aldehydes and ketones or the heavy organics with the π-conjugated structures in the oil. In addition, the volatile-char interactions exist and form the char of higher carbon content through promoting carbonization and deoxygenation reactions, generating char of higher thermal stability and higher hydrophilicity via tailoring functional group, pore structures and morphologies of the char. Photocatalytic water splitting is a highly promising future energy technology. In contrast to the extensive work on particulate photocatalysts, there is still a lack of sufficient investigation for regularized photocatalysts. Here, from perylene diimide polymer (PDIP) and commercial carbon paper (CP), we develop a self-assembled PDIP/CP photocatalyst sheet that is easily scalable and can be used for photocatalytic water oxidation. Driven by strong interfacial π-π interactions, the PDIP spontaneously adsorbs onto the CP, which leads to a narrowed band gap, down-shifted VB edge, and enhanced separation of the photogenerated charge carriers of the PDIP. Under visible light, the PDIP/CP photocatalyst sheet shows significantly enhanced photocatalytic water oxidation activity (4 h cumulative oxygen evolution is 1.7 times higher than that of the powder-suspended system) and considerable cycling stability. This study presents a novel method for synthesizing hierarchical porous zinc oxide (ZnO) nanostructures by thermally decomposing green-synthesized hydrozincite. The hydrozincite was prepared at room temperature using zinc acetate dihydrate and calcium carbonate (CaCO 3) in cellulose printing papers as the precipitating agent. The resulting ZnO particles exhibit a distinctive flower-like morphology, consisting of porous nanosheets composed of interconnected nanoparticles. The average crystallite size of the hierarchically structured zinc oxide nanoparticles, as determined via X-ray diffraction Rietveld refinement method, was found to be 18.8 nm when calcined at 500 °C. However, with increasing calcination temperature to 600, 700, and 800 °C, the average crystallite size also increased to 24.3, 30.4, and 47.2 nm, respectively. The ZnO synthesized at temperatures of 500 °C, 600 °C, and 700 °C exhibits higher electrocatalytic activity toward the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) compared to both the ZnO synthesized at 800 °C and commercial ZnO. This enhanced performance can be primarily attributed to the nanosized ZnO particles, which provide a substantial surface area, high accessibility of active sites, and fast charge transfer kinetics. In terms of photocatalytic activity, all the samples show HER improvement under the UV light irradiation, attributed to the generation of photoexcited charge carriers. The ZnO synthesized at 800 °C and the commercial ZnO exhibit greater enhancements in photocatalytic activity compared to the other samples. This implies that larger solid particles with fewer nanopores result in a greater exposed surface area for UV-light absorption. The hierarchically structured ZnO nanoparticles demonstrate promising electrocatalytic and photocatalytic activities, as well as stability, opening up potential applications in various fields, including energy conversion and environmental remediation. As a reflection of the scholar's mastery of basic theories and professional knowledge, the dissertation is an important yardstick for measuring the level of scientific research. At present, the problem of academic misconduct is becoming increasingly prominent, which is not only related to personal academic ethics, but also related to the overall development of the national academic and scientific research field. In the traditional method of evaluating the quality of papers, it is mainly based on the evaluation experts' comments and scores. However, there are cases that the evaluation experts' comments and scores are inconsistent in practice. To address this problem, we proposed a paper quality consistency detection model based on the nearest neighbor analysis dimensionality reduction algorithm. Compared with other traditional models, the experimental results show that the detection accuracy of XGBoost model after dimensionality reduction using nearest neighbor analysis algorithm reaches 85.81%. In the wake of the IT revolution of recent decades, Polish companies have experienced changes, such as the obligation to report financials in purely electronic form. This shift creates benefits but is also a source of challenges. The authors' inspiration for this research stems from the recognition of a clear research gap in the literature relating to the electronic reporting of micro and small companies. The article aims to verify how Poland's smallest companies covered by reporting obligations cope with the compulsory compilation, signing and publication of financial statements solely by electronic means. The study was qualitative in nature, followed a case study methodology, and concerned two Polish micro-companies. The results show that the entities analyzed essentially do cope with e-reporting. Certain attributes of these reports - - such as timeliness or completeness, are questionable, however. The results contribute to the understanding of the financial reporting practice by micro companies in Poland. They can indicate directions for changes in the actions taken by those involved in corporate reporting. Cognizance of this issue can also provide the regulator with directions for regulatory changes. Excessive trabeculation, often referred to as "noncompacted" myocardium, has been described at all ages, from the fetus to the adult. Current evidence for myocardial development, however, does not support the formation of compact myocardium from noncompacted myocardium, nor the arrest of this process to result in so-called noncompaction. Excessive trabeculation is frequently observed by imaging studies in healthy individuals, as well as in association with pregnancy, athletic activity, and with cardiac diseases of inherited, acquired, developmental, or congenital origins. Adults with incidentally noted excessive trabeculation frequently require no further follow-up based on trabecular pattern alone. Patients with cardiomyopathy and excessive trabeculation are managed by cardiovascular symptoms rather than the trabecular pattern. To date, the prognostic role of excessive trabeculation in adults has not been shown to be independent of other myocardial disease. In neonates and children with excessive trabeculation and normal or abnormal function, clinical caution seems warranted because of the reported association with genetic and neuromuscular disorders. This report summarizes the evidence concerning the etiology, pathophysiology, and clinical relevance of excessive trabeculation. Gaps in current knowledge of the clinical relevance of excessive trabeculation are indicated, with priorities suggested for future research and improved diagnosis in adults and children. [Display omitted] • Current evidence shows that the extent of trabeculated vs compact myocardium in the adult is determined by differential (allometric) growth of each myocardial layer. Because trabeculated myocardium does not coalesce to form the compact myocardial wall, the term "left ventricular noncompaction" is inaccurate and use should be discouraged. • Excessive trabeculation, as diagnosed using existing criteria, may be present as a normal variant or as a response to preload conditions. • In adults incidentally found to have excessive trabeculation with normal myocardial function and morphology, clinical management is determined by other cardiovascular symptoms or abnormalities, without regard to trabecular pattern. • In adults diagnosed with hypertrophic or dilated cardiomyopathy where excessive trabeculation is also present, the extent of ventricular trabeculation has not been demonstrated to alter management nor prognosis. Following guidelines developed specifically for those conditions is recommended. • In infants and children, caution is warranted because fewer data are available regarding the etiology and prognosis of excessive trabeculation. Paper with simultaneous fire-resistance and hydrophobicity have greatly potential applications in the fields of packing, storage and delivering information, which attracts increasing attention recently. Different from the traditional cellulose-based paper which is extremely easily damaged by water and fire, a new type of highly flexible, fire-resistant and hydrophobic paper based on Si 3 N 4 nanowires and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is reported. Specially, the Si 3 N 4 @PDMS core-shell nanowires with 3D interlocking structure are designed, in which the Si 3 N 4 nanowires act as the inorganic fire-resistant frameworks and the PDMS shell with low surface energy provides the hydrophobic surface. The Si 3 N 4 @PDMS core-shell nanowires are intertwined and interlaced to form a highly flexible Si 3 N 4 @PDMS paper. The tensile strength of Si 3 N 4 @PDMS paper is 6.19 MPa, indicating the good mechanical property. The obtained Si 3 N 4 @PDMS paper has the characteristics of writability, fire-resistance and hydrophobicity. The high thermal stability of Si 3 N 4 nanowires makes Si 3 N 4 @PDMS paper exhibit excellent fire resistance. No obvious change is observed for the commercial paper with Si 3 N 4 @PDMS paper as the fire-shielding layer after heating for 30 min. In addition, the contact angles of water droplets are all greater than 110° over the surfaces of Si 3 N 4 @PDMS paper after mechanical damages, chemical corrosions and thermal treatments. Si 3 N 4 @PDMS paper can be used in oil/water separation and oil collection. More importantly, Si 3 N 4 @PDMS paper can be used for writing without being damaged by fire or water. Given its superior structure, the abundance of surface functional groups, and low cost, cotton fiber filtration paper can be used as the support for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction catalysts (OER) instead of copper foam (CF), nickel foam (NF), or carbon cloth (CC). Herein, the chemical plating method was used to create thin self-supporting electrodes based on cotton fiber filtration paper (FP). The Co-Ni-P amorphous nanospheres can be uniformly dispersed on the self-supporting FP due to its porous structure and oxygen functional groups. The Co-Ni-P/FP electrode has an overpotential as low as 125 mV for HER and 320 mV for OER at the current density of 10 mA cm−2. Additionally, according to density functional theory (DFT) calculations, the Co atom added to the Ni-P nanosphere can lead to considerably more charge accumulation around the Co and Ni active sites, which greatly encourages the HER and OER processes. The novel porous support, FP, provides a fresh way the preparation of self-supporting electrodes. In the current study, the exergoeconomic analysis of a cogeneration pulp and paper plant under bi-operating modes at different environment temperatures of 290, 295, 305, 310, and 320 K was investigated. Two operating modes of the cogeneration system, i.e., a hybrid operating mode using a power boiler and a recovery boiler and a singular operating mode using a power boiler only, were considered. Natural gas was utilized as the main fuel in the power boiler, while black liquor with heavy fuel oil was employed in the recovery boiler. The total capital investment, total operating, exergy, unit exergy, and exergy destruction costs for each operating mode were evaluated. The results indicated that the total capital investment cost was 3420.27 $/h, and the total capital investment and the operation and maintenance costs in the hybrid and singular modes were 5853.27 and 6226.67 $/h, respectively. As well, the unit exergy cost and the exergy cost of steam introduced by the power boiler were 39.31 $/MWh and 2503.69 $/h, respectively. Where these values for the recovery boiler were 34.69 $/MWh and 554.30 $/h, respectively. Furthermore, the exergy destruction costs at an environment temperature of 320 K for the power and recovery boilers were 1436.6 and 213.63 $/h, respectively. In the hybrid mode, the soda at a 10% concentration was recovered, with a rate of 32 t per hour desired for the cooking process in the pulp mill. Abstract Land-use change in the boreal forest region leads to agriculture to be carried out on acid, shallow and low fertility soils. To correct soil fertility and promote crop productivity, manure and inorganic fertilizers are added, increasing the risk for greenhouse gas emissions (GHGE). To reduce the reliance on synthetic soil amendments while taking advantage of locally relevant industrial by-products, wood ash (WA) and paper sludge (SL) have been proposed as soil amendments for a range of soil types. We posited that amending soils with WA, SL and biochar will improve soil health parameters and fertility of boreal soils. Microbial activity resulting to nitrogen losses and availability were assessed. WA had a stronger ameliorative effect on acid boreal soils compared to SL. Both WA and SL increased soil microbial biomass and basal respiration resulting in higher net mineralization and thus significant increases in CO.sub.2 emissions. Co-application of urea with WA or SL further increased net mineralization compared to when used independently. Conversely, the biochar's effect was short-lived and not significant. Nevertheless, addition of biochar was shown to reduce CO.sub.2 emissions in all cases except in WA amended soils. No significant differences were observed in CH.sub.4 emissions across all treatments. WA and SL may improve soil fertility and quality but could also contribute significantly to GHG emissions in acid boreal soils. Further research is recommended to assess the mitigating effect of various biochar feedstocks on GHG emissions when co-applied with WA and SL. The article describes an approach to build a search index for fuzzy objects recognition in scientific and technical papers. A fuzzy object is explained as an entity described by some physical parameters. A physical parameter consists of two parts: a value, represented in various forms of digits, and a physical unit, represented as text with some digits. The approach presented in the article allows users to search not by ordinary substrings, but by physical parameters with range, less than or greater than operators. The current realisation of the approach is a web service that has functionality to perform all stages for extraction of physical parameters of a fuzzy object. These stages are the extraction of sentences, the extraction of physical parameters and the normalisation of physical parameters values. The web service can be exploited in the synchronous and asynchronous modes. The synchronous mode helps to troubleshoot the software. The asynchronous mode is designed to process papers using queues in the distributed computer systems. The current work is aimed to develop a search engine which will address the challenge of structuring information of a continuously growing number of scientific and technical papers. Spatially resolved fluid-flow modulation and its corresponding integration becomes a crucial aspect to consider when designing high-performing paper-based analytical devices. As such, high demand exists for cost-effective techniques able to selectively control flow in patternable regions of the device. In this regard, a solution composed of potassium alum and animal glue; sizing materials used in the fabrication of calligraphy Xuan paper, is successfully adapted for the first time in a revolutionary approach to efficiently modulate the capillary flow in paper microfluidic channels. Flow delays are achieved by coating the substrate systematically through the variation of parameters such as the ratio of alum to glue, the concentration of alum-glue in the solution, and the number of subsequent coating layers of alum-glue. Moreover, digitized patterning with alum-glue is developed to achieve programmable wicking profiles of accelerating, decelerating, and quasi-linear flow displacement by alternating coated and uncoated zones in the channel. Additionally, the influence of alum-glue when performing biometric assays is investigated by performing a horseradish peroxidase activity colorimetric assay and found to have negligible effects on reading, where a negligible difference of 5.2% was observed in an assay performed in a coated paper substrate, compared to an uncoated one. • New flame-resistant coatings with high mechanical properties for bagasse paper were synthesized using,3-di-aryl-2,2,2,4,4,4-hexachlorocyclodiphosph(V)azane, starch, CaCO 3 , NaHCO 3. • The thermal properties of all specimens were measured. • The ignition properties as the flame chamber (UL/94), and limiting oxygen index (LOI) was measured according to standards. This work aimed to enhance the thermal and mechanical properties of bagasse paper by synthesizing new coatings to prevent bagasse paper from the ignition. Paper sheets were treated with 0.5 percent cychlodiphosph(V)azane/ CaCO 3 solution (1.5 percent), 1.5 percent NaHCO 3 solution, and CNCs mixed with 5.0percent of starch. Paper sheets were treated by immersing bagasse paper in a coating mixture. The paper sheets were then allowed to air dry at ambient temperature. It is important to measure the burning rate (BR) to give people a chance to decrease the loss. These enhancements were investigated using elongation and tensile strength, air permeability test, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), and combustion tests (UL/94 and LOI). In this study, we developed a novel, simple, rapid, and low-cost colloidal gold-based immunochromatography method, with filter paper replacing nitrocellulose membrane as the substrate. To obtain adequately immobilized protein, chitosan was used to functionalize the filter paper. After conditions and parameters were optimized, the novel immunochromatography method was applied for detection of sulfonamide residues in milk. Quantitative detection was accomplished using a smartphone and Photoshop software (Adobe Inc., San Jose, CA), allowing us to screen 13 sulfonamides with a limit of detection ranging from 0.42 to 8.64 μg/L and recovery ranging from 88.2 to 116.9% in milk. The proposed novel method performed similarly to the conventional method that uses a nitrocellulose membrane as the transport medium, and it had lower cost and better usability because of the inexpensive and easily available filter paper. Methyl ester from vegetable oil has been considered a potential replacement for mineral oil used for power transformer cooling and insulating applications. However, some pertinent properties in making this liquid a better transformer oil based on the laydown standards need to be enhanced to maximize the use of this insulating liquid. Technology involving nano-modification can enhance the properties of these ester liquids placing them in a better position as a good alternative. In this study, we aim to investigate the performance of methyl ester liquid from neem seed oil, a non-food grade oil, when modified with SiO 2 insulating nanoparticles at several concentrations. Furthermore, Kraft paper compatibility has also been analyzed to observe their compatibility after impregnation. The breakdown strength, temperature-dependent dissipation loss factor, dielectric constant, and viscosity of both pure and nanofluid samples of neem ester liquid have been measured per standard methods. The nanofluid's dielectric performance has been significantly enhanced by the presence of SiO 2 nanoparticles according to results obtained from the experiment. For instance, the dielectric dissipation factor at an operating frequency of 60 Hz has been improved by 96%, 89%, and 79% at 30 °C, 50 °C, and 70 °C respectively relative to the base neem liquid. This remarkable improvement has been attributed to the SiO 2 nanoparticle's ability to polarize, trap, and de-trap mobile electrons develop in nanofluid when an electric field is applied. Proper equipment maintenance can significantly reduce overall operating costs by boosting productivity. Management personnel often consider maintenance an expense; however, a more positive approach is to view maintenance as a profit center. Considering this new perspective, the requirements for maintenance management have changed drastically from the traditional concept of fix-it-when-broken to a more complex approach that entails adopting a maintenance strategy for a more integrated approach and alignment. This paper presents a Goal Programming (GP) approach to define the most cost-effective method for maintaining some critical pumps in the paper industry. The failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) criteria consider each machine failure's occurrence, severity, and detection. After determining the weights, the optimal strategy for each failure is calculated by solving the goal programming. Thus, FMEA can be used to design a network structure for each pump failure mode. For this purpose, the limitations and goals affecting the model are obtained from research literature and interviews with experts. Regarding resource utilization and failure reduction, the results demonstrate that predictive and preventive maintenance strategies are superior to corrective strategies. Buildings are often located near ambient air pollution sources such as wildfire or heavy traffic areas. While windows in buildings are intermittently open for free cooling or natural ventilation, increased leakage area can lead to elevated human exposure to air pollutants of outdoor origin. The objective of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of paper filter windows in reducing exposure to outdoor air pollution and improving indoor air quality. The physical properties of paper windows as filtration media were experimentally determined, based on which multi-zone indoor air quality and ventilation analysis (CONTAM) simulations were performed for a full-scale building. The results show that the outdoor-indoor air exchange rate of a building can increase about 100% when conventional windows are replaced with paper filter windows. Even with the increased air exchange rate, the infiltration of outdoor particles into the building was reduced about 57–77% for the particle size range of 7–300 nm. These findings imply that paper windows have potential benefits for controlling both outdoor originated pollutants and indoor-generated pollutants with minimal energy inputs, especially in cities and communities impacted by urban air pollution and wildfires. Organization and planning of reverse logistics networks make sustainable processes more efficient. Thus, an important sector for connecting the collection and waste paper recycling echelons is the intermediate center. In this study, a Mixed Integer Linear Programming model, which is multi-objective, multi-product, multi-level and multi-period, was developed to optimize the waste paper logistics processes of intermediate centers. The formulation includes the following echelons: collection, considering vehicle routing with different capacities; inventory of non-baling materials; baling sorted waste and inventory of bales; selling bales; disposal of non-recyclable waste. The aims of the model include: maximizing the collected waste; minimizing distances; maximizing both the production and sale of bales, and minimizing costs. According to research carried out in the literature, the developed model is a new proposal and to implement it, the Weighted Goal Programming and Revised Multi-Choice Goal Programming approaches were used to deal with multiple objectives and incorporate uncertainty into the quantity of waste available for collection. To analyze the proposed model, computational tests were executed with instances based on real data from a Brazilian company in the sector. For all performed tests, General Algebraic Modeling System 23.6.5 modeling language and CPLEX 12.2.0.2 solver were used for modeling and optimization. Abstract A rapid upsurge in urban and industrial developments leads to increased generations of solid wastes. The most accepted technique of waste discarding around the world is landfilling. Leaching chemicals from municipal dumping grounds can pollute the groundwater source and the surrounding environment without appropriate precautionary measures. Bentonite is a low-cost constituent used as a liner material in landfills due to its low permeability, high sealing ability, high specific surface area, and the ability to hold up the impurity migration through adsorption. However, leachate interaction with bentonite may alter its properties and reduce its usefulness as a barrier material in the long term. Also, bentonite having different chemical and mineralogical compositions will behave differently due to the leachate interaction. Therefore, it is necessary to compare the performance of various bentonites in the presence of leachates. In the present investigation, two Indian bentonites of different mineralogical compositions were studied for their change in the index properties, swelling, swelling potential, swelling pressure, hydraulic conductivity, consolidation parameters and shear strength properties in the presence of fly ash, sewage sludge and paper mill leachates. The outcomes showed that in the presence of all the leachates, liquid limit, free swell, compression index, swelling potential, swelling pressure, time to complete 90% of consolidation and shear strength dropped; whereas, hydraulic conductivity and coefficient of consolidation increased. Besides, the quality of bentonite prominently influenced the hydraulic, strength and swelling behaviour. The bentonite having a higher cation exchange capacity, liquid limit, specific surface area, and swelling capability undergoes a higher variability in the free swell (80.0, 73.8 and 76.9% decline), liquid limit (73.5, 61.7 and 69.2% decline), swelling potential (61.3, 55.7 and 51.0% decline), swelling pressure (53.3 and 56.4% decrease), and hydraulic conductivity (57.5, 8.6 and 41.1 times increase at a void ratio of 1.2) values when infused with fly ash, sewage sludge and paper mill leachates, respectively. The study also showed that the fly ash leachate interaction causes a higher variation in bentonite behaviour than sewage sludge and paper mill leachates. The study's findings would prove beneficial to design engineers for selecting bentonite types for landfill liners. Abstract Background and objectives Organic waste management in environmentally sustainable way is important not only to reduce the negative impacts on ecosystems but also valorizing the waste resources. Herein we evaluated the potential of wood ash (WA) and paper sludge (PS) wastes from a pulp and paper mill as potting media and their effects on the physicochemical properties of podzolic soil. Methods WA, PS and biochar (BC) was mixed in different combinations with a sandy loam podzolic soil. Potting media treatments included: T1--soil (negative control); T2--Promix.sup.TM (positive control); T3--50%soil+50%WA; T4--75%soil+25%WA; T5--50%soil+50%PS; T6--75%soil+25%PS; T7--75%soil+25%BC; T8--25%soil+50%WA+25%BC; T9--50%soil+25%WA+25%BC; T10--25%soil+50%PS+25%BC; T11--50%soil+25%PS+25%BC, T12-- 25%soil+25%WA+25%PS+25%BC and replicated three times. Results Potting media treatments expressed significant (p < 0.00) effects on pH, bulk density, total porosity, field capacity, plant available water (PAW) and water retention curves. Potting media amended with WA showed high pH range (8--12) while PS amendments exhibited pH in range where most plant nutrients are available (6.5--7.5). Results depicted significantly lower bulk density, and increased total porosity and water holding capacity of potting media amended with WA and PS. BC addition further enhanced the water retention properties compared to combinations without BC. T6, T10 and T11 produced higher amounts of PAW with desired pH compared to T1 and T2. Conclusion WA, PS and BC showed high potential for developing podzolic soil-based potting media, but their effects on plant growth and elemental uptake need to be investigated. In this study, the biochar-supported Fe-Cu bimetallic catalysts were synthesized by a one-step pyrolysis method using Fenton sludge as iron source, acid-precipitated black liquor (APBL) as carbon source and copper nitrate as copper source. The catalysts were used to remove rhodamine B (RhB) dye from aqueous solution by Fenton-like reaction. The optimal catalyst (FeCu@BC 600-2) was pyrolyzed at 600 °C with an Fe/Cu mixing ratio of 2 and consisted of mesoporous biochar supported nanoscale Fe 3 O 4 and Cu0. It had a specific surface area of 104.6 m2·g−1 and a saturation magnetization of 33.3 emu·g−1. In the FeCu@BC 600-2 /H 2 O 2 system, RhB dye (10 mg·L-1) was completely removed within 60 min at acidic pH (initial pH 3, 0.2 g·L-1 catalyst, 1 mM H 2 O 2) or 6 h at neutral pH (initial pH 7, 0.25 g·L-1 catalyst, 25 mM H 2 O 2) at 30 °C. Moreover, the FeCu@BC 600-2 exhibited good magnetic separation ability, low metal leaching, excellent reusability and broad applicability to other synthetic dyes. The dye removal mechanism involved the synergistic effect of adsorption and catalytic oxidation (especially heterogeneous catalytic oxidation). At acidic pH, RhB degradation was due to •OH radical, which was generated from the activation of H 2 O 2 by ≡Cu(I) or Cu(I) oxidized from Cu0 and ≡Fe(II) in Fe 3 O 4. At neutral pH, RhB degradation was mainly due to •OH and 1O 2 with the former being produced by ≡Cu(I) and ≡Fe(II). Furthermore, Cu(I) oxidized from Cu0 and the active functional groups (such as sp2 C = C) in the biochar facilitated the reduction of Fe(III) to Fe(II), resulting in a high catalytic oxidation efficiency. The aim of this study is to provide an Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) based solution to enhance biological treatment efficiency by improving biodegradability of wastewater. Photo-Fenton and Peroxydisulfate (PDS)/UV processes were selected in this study as a representative of hydroxyl and sulfate radical based AOPs. A central composition design (CCD) employed to optimize operational cost and BOD/COD ratio to determine optimal conditions for enhancing wastewater treatment efficiency. The study achieved a maximum COD removal of 71.5 % and increased wastewater biodegradability. Optimal conditions for Photo-Fenton process were DOD (H 2 O 2) 0.28, [Fe2+] 106.26 mg/L, and pH 2.32, costing 2.27 USD per 1 kg COD removed. For PDS/UV process, 75.5 % COD removal was achieved at a cost of 10.6 USD/1 kg removed COD. The PDS/UV process had higher COD removal than Photo-Fenton but did not improve wastewater biodegradability. Optimal conditions were DOD (PDS) 0.19, pH 6.68, costing 10.6 USD/1 kg COD removed. Flexible inkjet-printed antenna is presented. The proposed antenna is designed on a synthetic paper substrate with an area of 35 × 40 mm2 to provide frequency bands for many popular wireless applications. Simulation and measurement are used to study the performances, including the frequency bands, radiation patterns, peak gains and efficiency, of the antenna in two severely bending conditions with a curvature radius of 20 mm in the forward and backward directions. The antenna printed in photo papers material could not be fully flexible due to cracks introduced to the coating material on the surface of the photo paper. Hence, the resin coated material was only suitable for curved devices. The synthetic paper material used in this paper does not have a resin coating, therefore, the antenna does not lose its flexibility and can be bent in both the forward and backward directions without any cracks. Results show that bending in these two conditions has insignificant effects on the performances of the antenna. With a curvature radius of 20 mm in the forward direction, the measured peak gain and efficiency of the antenna are in the ranges from −3 to +2 dBi and 40% to 60%, respectively. Text summarization in medical domain is one of the most crucial chores as it deals with the critical human information. Consequently the proper summarization and key point extraction from medical deeds using pre-trained Language models is now the key figure to be focused on for the researchers. But due to the considerable amount of real-world data and enormous amount of memory requirement to train the Large Language Models (LLMs), research on these models become challenging. To overcome these challenges multiple prompting and tuning techniques are being used. In this paper, effectiveness of prompt engineering and parameter efficient fine tuning is being studied to summarize the Hospital Discharge Summary (HDS) papers effectively, so that these models can accurately interprete medical terminologies and contexts, generate brief but compact summaries, and draw out concentrated themes, which opens new approaches for the application of LLMs in healthcare and making HDS more patient-friendly. In this research LLaMA 2 (Large Language Model Meta AI) has been considered as the base model. Also, the model has been fine-tuned using QLoRA (Quantized Low Rank Adapters), which can bring down the memory usage of LLMs without compromising the data quality.
