Introduction and Importance: Abdominal ectopic pregnancy (AEP) located at hepatic region and pelvic-wall ectopic pregnancy (EP) are rare entities, that provoking a potentially life-threatening condition. Due to insufficient data, a proper management of non-specific types remains a challenge for all gynecologists worldwide., Case Presentation: Two child-bearing age women were hospitalized due to delayed menstruation and a urine pregnancy test was positive without a determination of intrauterine pregnancy. The first EP case was located at the pelvic wall which identified incidentally during laparoscopy for a presumed tubal ectopic pregnancy on ultrasonography throughout. The second EP case was found at the hepatic region due to intermittent pain rising from the right upper quadrant region and serial ultrasonic findings. In our management, both cases were successfully assessed by laparoscopy and laparotomy without requiring further intervention, respectively., Clinical Discussion: An accurate diagnosis of EP location at liver and pelvic wall is totally difficult since its uncommon location. An initial assessment should be based on clinical symptoms and the treatment remains controversial. The surgical management including laparotomy and laparoscopy depends on clinical evaluation, experience of surgeon, and interdisciplinary team. Thus, these abnormal sites of ectopic pregnancy ought to take into consideration for all gynecologists in an emergency condition with a major hemorrhage., Conclusions: In reproductive age women, primary EP at liver and pelvic wall should be considered with high index of suspicion if intrauterine pregnancy is totally excluded. This data in brief article represents the data set associated with a research article published in Geoderma [1]. The data set represents figures showing the spatial distribution of selected macro and micronutrients, and their quantification in different crop or nutrient management systems practiced in the boreal ecosystem. Spatial distribution of nutrients was measured by laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA‒ICP‒MS), using the new techniques we developed to visualize nutrient distribution in intact soil cores representative of the root rhizosphere. This data article supports the findings published in the main article [1]. Introduction: Snapping shoulder syndrome could be effectively treated with scapulothoracic arthroscopy. The excision of the scapular superomedial corner is assumed to help lower the recurrence rate. However, the amount of resection is still controversial. Furthermore, we lack a technique to measure if the resected amount was adequate based only on arthroscopy evaluation., Case Study Presentation: We describe a 47-year-old man who suffered from severe snapping shoulder syndrome as a consequence of a deformity of the left superomedial scapular corner. The patient had endoscopic bursectomy and superomedial corner resection. Intraoperative three-dimensional CT scans (3D-CT) were used to evaluate the amount of resection. The patient recovered without incident and resumed his usual activities within 30 days following surgery. At the six-month follow-up, there were no recurrent symptoms., Conclusion: Intraoperative 3D imaging significantly enhances the safety and efficacy of scapulothoracic arthroscopy. This article introduces a dataset that presents not only the income of informal labourers in Vietnam's northern mountainous regions but also rural labourers' characteristics and the factors affecting rural labourers' income. The data collection was conducted in five provinces: Tuyen Quang, Quang Ninh, Ha Giang, Yen Bai, and Bac Giang. Farmers and labourers without labour contracts in rural regions are the target groups. A total of 750 survey questionnaires were equally distributed across five provinces through the snowball sampling method; in all, data from 725 collected questionnaires were selected for analysis. The dataset was collected through a three-part survey. Nominal, ordinal, and scale were used in the survey questionnaire. Tables and bar charts present data outputs. Analysis of the data provided insight into the correlation between the rural labourers' income and factors that may prove beneficial for researchers and provincial policymakers interested in, and in charge of, social development in rural areas. Background/purpose: Natural compounds have become alternatives for bone regeneration. Acemannan, the main polysaccharide extracted from Aloe vera, has been demonstrated as a promising osteoinductive material in vitro and in vivo . This clinical study investigated the effect of acemannan on tooth socket healing., Materials and Methods: Thirty-five otherwise healthy patients, 18-25 years old and diagnosed with horizontal or vertical partial impaction of the lower third molars, were enrolled in this randomized controlled trial. After removing the teeth, the sockets randomly received one of the following treatments: spontaneous blood-clotting (control), 20 mg acemannan sponge, or 50 mg acemannan sponge. Cone-beam computed tomography of the mandible was performed immediately (baseline), and at 3-, 6-, and 12-months postoperatively; the data were analyzed using the OsiriX MD program. Bone healing in the socket was determined measuring the socket volume. One-way ANOVA was used to analyze the differences within each group and between groups., Results: Thirty-five patients with 43 partially impacted lower third molars participated in this study. No patients exhibited alveolar osteitis or secondary infection. Compared with baseline, all groups showed significant reduction in socket volume at all observation time-points ( p  < 0.05). The 50 mg acemannan group had a significantly greater reduction in socket volume compared with the control at all postoperative time-points ( p  < 0.05). This article presents the associated data set in the research article entitled "Assessing beer-based marinades effects on ether and ester linked phosphatidylcholines and phosphatidylethanolamines in grilled beef and moose meat" published in Meat Science [1], demonstrating the use of unfiltered beer-based marinades in improving the nutritional quality of grilled ruminant meat by suppressing the degradation of health-promoting ester and ether-linked PC and PE the most predominant glycerophospholipids (GPL) in meat. High throughput lipidomics analysis was conducted using high-resolution accurate mass tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-HRAMS/MS-MS) to profile the meat lipids following marination and grilling. The marinades were composed of a combination of unfiltered beers, fruits, herbs and spices. The data presented show the retention levels of ether as well as ester linked PC and PE molecular species; Pearson's correlations for the associations between antioxidants, phenolics, volatile oxygenated terpenes, oxidation status and preserved phospholipid species in the marinated grilled meats. There are many studies demonstrating cooking effects on fatty acid composition of meat phospholipids in the literature. However, information on how marination and grilling affects intact ether and ester linked PC and PE composition in grilled ruminant meats is limited. As such, this dataset provides useful information on the preservation of ruminant meat ester and ether-linked glycerophospholipid composition following marination with unfiltered beer-based marinades and meat preparation via grilling. Specifically, this data demonstrate the preservation of ether and ester linked PC and PE enriched with essential ω3 and ω6 fatty acids from degradation during grilling. Multivariate statistics is a tool for examining the relationship of multiple variables simultaneously. Principal component analysis (PCA) is an unsupervised multivariate analysis technique that simplifies the complexity of data by transforming them in a few dimensions showing their trends and correlations. Interests in XLSTAT as statistical software program of choice for routine multivariate statistics has been growing due in part to its compatibility with Microsoft Excel data format. As a case of study, multivariate analysis is used to study the effects of unfiltered beer-based marination on the volatile terpenes and thiols, and sensory attributes of grilled ruminant meats. PCA was conducted to determine the correlations between the abundances of volatile terpenes and thiols and sensory attribute scores in marinated grilled meats, as well as to analyze if there was any clustering based on the type of meat and marination treatments employed.•XLSTAT PCA output successfully reduced the number of variables into 2 components that explained 90.47% of the total variation of the data set.•PCA clustered marinated and unmarinated meats based on the presence and abundances of volatile terpenes, thiols and consumer sensory attribute scores.•PCA could be applied to explore relationships between volatile compounds and sensory attributes in different food systems., (© 2020 The Authors. Cooking techniques such as grilling confer several benefits to meat during food preparation including improved palatability, digestibility, preservation, and safety, as well as enhancing the sensory characteristics and net nutritional gain. However, grilling can lead to the formation of harmful compounds such heterocyclic amines (HCAs). HCAs are potent carcinogenic and mutagenic nitrogen containing compounds produced during certain cooking conditions of protein rich foods. Dietary intake of HCAs is associated with increased risk factors for cancers in humans. As such, there is overwhelming interest in identifying improved methods for rapid and accurate determination of heterocyclic amines in food matrices that is sensitive and avoids exhaustive sample preparation steps. Herein, we describe an approach that involves first extracting HCAs by pressurized accelerated solvent extractor using methanol as solvent, followed by addition of internal standard and quantification of HCAs by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-high resolution accurate mass spectrometric detection (UHPLC-HRAMS). Objective of this data isn brief article is to present the associated data set regarding the revised article entitled "Unfiltered beer based marinades reduced exposure to carcinogens and suppressed conjugated fatty acid oxidation in grilled meats" recommended for publication in Food Control [1]. Grill food safety and quality is a major concern globally. Here in we present data demonstrating the use of novel unfiltered beer based marinades in improving the nutritional quality and safety of grilled ruminant meat. Grilling can lead to the formation of harmful compounds and modify the functional lipids in meats via oxidation, thereby affecting the nutritional quality and safety of the finished product. Lipid oxidation is a deteriorative process involving the degradation of lipid double bonds and the formation of new compounds. Some of these compounds can result in reduced meat quality and off-flavours affecting the sensory, nutritional quality and safety of grilled meat. Unfiltered beers, herbs and spices are known to be excellent sources of antioxidants and polyphenols which can suppress oxidation of functional lipids in grilled meat. Novel unfiltered beer based marinades were developed and used to marinate ruminant meat (beef and moose) prior to grilling. The effect of marination on the fatty acid profile, including saturated, mono- and polyunsaturated fatty acids, of grilled meat was analyzed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). In this data in brief article, we include 3 tables containing the fatty acid composition of unmarinated and marinated grilled ruminant meats (beef and moose), a figure showing the percent distribution of grilled meat fatty acid classes, and 2 figures on Pearson's correlation for the associations between phenolic contents, oxidation status and total conjugated linolenic acid (CLA) content. To the best of our knowledge, there is a paucity of information in the literature on the fatty acid composition of wild Cervid meat following preparation by grilling. Grill food safety and nutritional quality is of significant interest to researchers and consumers in the scientific and general food science communities. This article provides data on the fatty composition of grilled moose meat and could be of value to fill the paucity of information currently available in the scientific community on the observed fatty acid composition of grill moose meat. Furthermore, the article presents data on the effects of beer based marinade formulations on the quality of the fatty acid composition of grilled ruminant meats (beef and moose). The growing awareness of the benefits of dietary fatty acids in enhancing personal and population health by reducing the risk factors for cardiovascular diseases and neurodegenerative disorders means that consumers demand meat products with improved fatty acid composition [2,3]. Cervids such as moose (Alces alces) are popular as superior sources of low-fat lean meat with balanced omega 6:3 essential fatty acids compared to traditional farm raised or domesticated meat animals due to the forage they consume as a normal part of their diet [2,4,5]. Furthermore, session ale beers is currently a global phenomenon derived from unique combinations of grains, hops, fruits and herbs to produce low alcohol by volume beers with unique flavors popular among consumers. Two unfiltered session beers were used as base ingredients to produce two novel marinades infused with unique combination of antioxidant rich herbs and spices as a suitable system for the production of grilled foods with enhanced nutritional and sensory characteristics. Whilst there are a limited number of studies in the literature that have used unfiltered beers to evaluate the effects of these beers on suppression of lipid oxidation in grilled meat, none to the best of our knowledge has evaluated the effect of antioxidant rich unfiltered beer based marinades on fatty acid composition of grilled meat systems [6] [7]. As such, this data set presents the concept of using craft beers (specifically session ales) infused with unique combination of herbs and spices to produce unfiltered beer base marinades with enhanced ability to improve grill food sensory attributes and quality, and demonstrates that novel formulations of popular unfiltered India session ale and wheat ale based marinades infused with unique combinations of herbs and spices could be used to marinate beef and moose meats prior to grilling to preserve meat lipids including anticarcinogenic linoleic acid and essential ω3 and ω6 fatty acids., (© 2019 The Author(s).)

The objective of this data in brief article is to present the associated data set regarding the published paper Novel unfiltered beer-based marinades to improve the nutritional quality, safety, and sensory perception of grilled ruminant meats in Food Chemistry [1]. Grilling is a popular cooking method; however, the high temperatures required can modify grilled meat quality and safety. In this data set, we include 5 tables containing the volatile composition of unmarinated and marinated grilled ruminant meat (beef and moose). Novel unfiltered beer-based marinades infused with herbs and spices were used for meat marination, and the volatiles present in the meat following grilling extracted by solid phase microextraction and subsequently analysed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (SPME-GC/MS). The volatile profile includes alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, acids, esters, alkylfurans, nitrogenated compounds, terpenes (mono-, sesqui- and oxygenated terpenes), sulfur derivatives, benzene derivatives, and phenol derivatives. This dataset provides valuable information on meat volatile composition useful to understand certain aspects of the quality and safety of grilled meat following preparation with unfiltered beer-based marinades. The objective of this data in brief article is to represent the associated data set regarding our published paper in Plant Science Nadeem et al., 2019. Data set represent soil acid phosphatase activity, association of individual molecular species of four major lipid classes with soybean forage quality indices when cultivated in boreal podzolic soils under cool climatic conditions. Phosphatidylcholine (PC), phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), phosphatidic acid (PA) and acylated glucosyl betasitosterol ester (AGIcSiE) molecular species grouped the soybean forage quality indices in different quadrants on principal component analyses. Furthermore, the total lipid profile and correlation of major lipid species with forage quality indices are included in this data in brief article. This data set support the main findings described in Nadeem et al., 2019.

Background: Measles remains poorly controlled in Southeast Asia, including Vietnam., Objectives: The aim of this study was to characterize genes of virus responsible for a measles outbreak among children in Vietnam in 2014., Study Design: Throat swab samples were collected from 122 pediatric patients with suspected measles. Furthermore, peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from 31 of these cases were also collected. Measles virus (MV) RNA was obtained directly from the clinical specimens, amplified by PCR, and then the N and H genes were sequenced., Results: MV RNA was detectable in throat swabs from all 122 patients tested. Positive-strand viral RNA, which indicates the intermediate replicative form of MV, was also detected in PBMCs from all 31 cases from whom these cells were collected. One hundred and eighteen strains with the N gene were obtained by RT-PCR and sequenced. Using phylogenetic analysis with measles reference sequences, all of the Vietnamese strains were found to be genotype D8. However, all strains formed a distinct cluster within the genotype D8 group (D8-VNM) suggesting their own lineage. This distinct cluster was supported by a branch with a 99% bootstrap value and 3.3% nucleotide divergence in the N-450 region of the N gene from the D8 reference strain. Notably, all of the D8-VNM variant strains represented unique amino acid sequences consisting of R442, S451 and G452 in the N-450 region of the N gene., Conclusions: Measles viruses responsible for outbreaks in Southern Vietnam belonged to a genotype D8 variant group which had unique amino acid sequences in the N gene. Our report provides important genomic information about the virus for measles elimination in Southeast Asia.

Ideally, an animal model of Barrett's esophagus should recapitulate the human disease histologically and immunohistochemically, and be readily susceptible to genetic manipulation. We have developed such a model using a strain of mice commonly used for transgenic and knockout manipulations. We induced reflux by esophagojejunostomy (EJ) in 20 C57Bl/6 mice. At defined time points, sections of the esophagus were stained with H&E and Alcian blue, and immunohistochemical staining was performed for Sox9 (a transcription factor in Barrett's metaplasia), cytokeratin (CK) 8/18 (a columnar marker) and CK14 (a squamous marker). Procedural mortality was 40% for the first ten animals, 20% for the next 10. Reflux esophagitis developed by 13 weeks, and intestinal metaplasia with goblet cells developed by 34 weeks. The metaplasia expressed CK8/18, but not CK14, and exhibited nuclear immunostaining for Sox9. Nuclear Sox9 was also seen in scattered basal cells of squamous epithelium close to the EJ anastomosis. EJ can be performed successfully in C57Bl/6 mice, resulting in reflux esophagitis and intestinal metaplasia that exhibits phenotypic and molecular features of human Barrett's metaplasia. This surgical model in a mouse strain that is easy to manipulate genetically should be a valuable tool for studying the pathogenesis of Barrett's esophagus.

Purpose: Primary coloduodenal fistula (CDF) is a rare entity. We review our experience with the management and outcomes of CDF., Methods: This is a retrospective review from 1975 to 2005 of patients with primary CDF. Patients were followed through clinic visits and mail correspondence with a mean (±SE) follow-up of 56 ± 14 months., Results: Twenty-two patients were diagnosed at a mean age of 54 ± 3 years with primary CDF: benign (n = 14) or malignant (n = 8). Benign CDF were due to Crohn's disease (n = 9) or peptic ulcer disease (n = 5); malignant CDF was primarily due to colon cancer (n = 7) plus 1 patient with lymphoma. Indications for operative intervention included intractable symptoms (n = 15), gastrointestinal bleeding (n = 14), and to rule out malignancy (n = 8). Complete resection of malignant CDF with negative margins was achieved in half of patients after en bloc resection. Palliative bypass was performed in those patients with unresectable disease. Thirteen patients with benign CDF had resection of the fistula-2 of these patients required a duodenal bypass. There were no perioperative deaths, and the morbidity rate was 38%. Median survival for patients with malignant CDF was 20 months (range 1-150 months). Two patients with malignant CDF had >5-year survival. All patients with benign CDF who underwent fistula resection had resolution of fistula-related symptoms with one recurrence., Conclusion: Benign CDF is amenable to operative therapy with resolution of symptoms and a low recurrence rate. Complete resection of malignant CDF can impart survival benefit.

Background: Gastric transposition is the most common reconstruction after esophagectomy. Despite technical improvements, the incidence of anastomotic complications remains high. Gastric devascularization followed by esophageal resection and reconstruction has been proposed to minimize these complications., Methods: Thirty-two patients underwent minimally invasive esophagectomy, and seven high-risk patients were selected for laparoscopic gastric devascularization performed either 1 week (n = 5) or 12 weeks (n = 2) before esophageal resection. Primary outcomes included anastomotic leak and stricture., Results: Each patient underwent successful laparoscopic devascularization and subsequent esophagectomy. Devascularization required an average of 134 minutes with minimal operative blood loss. There were no complications following gastric devascularization or directly attributable to delay. None of the delay patients developed an anastomotic leak, compared to 16% of patients after immediate reconstruction (p = 0.258). One patient (14%) developed an anastomotic stricture that required endoscopic dilatation within the first year after surgery, compared to 12% of immediate reconstruction patients (p = 0.872)., Conclusion: In this series, all patients underwent successful delayed reconstruction following gastric devascularization without anastomotic leak. The absence of anastomotic leak in the delay group suggests that delayed conduit preparation can be accomplished safely while potentially reducing the morbidity associated with esophagectomy, but larger prospective studies are required to prove this definitively.
