Postharvest spoilage of fruits accounts for significant losses ranging between 20 %-30 %, leading to considerable resource wastage and economic downturns. The development of an effective fresh-keeping packaging material is of paramount importance. This study introduces an innovative on-demand removable active fruit fresh-keeping film (GPP), created by embedding a GP (gallic acid-phycocyanin) fiber mesh hydrogel with functional properties into a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) matrix. The resultant GPP hydrogel-based film demonstrates outstanding UV and water vapor barrier capabilities, mechanical stability, resistance to external mechanical stress, universal surface adhesion, antibacterial efficacy, and on-demand removal attributes, while being devoid of potential toxicity hazards. Utilizing grapes and blueberries as representative fruits, it is shown that the GPP hydrogel film significantly preserves the fruits' hardness, pH, total soluble solids content (TSS), and minimizes the rate of weight loss, thereby prolonging the shelf life to 13 days for grapes and 20 days for blueberries at ambient temperature. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) offer diverse applications in the food industry, facilitating loading, protection, and controlled release of functional ingredients despite encountering loading capacity and functional activity limitations. This study focuses on curcumin‑zinc MOFs, harnessing curcumin's renowned health benefits and zinc to enhance pharmacological properties. We evaluated their synthesis efficiency, stability under varying conditions (pH, salt concentration, temperature), loading and antioxidant capacity. The results showed that microwave synthesis yielded MOFs with a 23.2 ± 4.5% yield, stable within pH 4-10, gradually decomposing in PBS. DPPH, ABTS, and H₂O₂ assays revealed varying free radical scavenging abilities. MOFs disintegrate in either acidic environments or contain H 2 O 2 (at a concentration threshold of 10 μM). Post-disintegration, these MOFs significantly inhibiting the secretion of TNF-α by RAW264.7 cells induced by LPS. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are coordination compounds that possess an adjustable structure and controllable function. Despite their wide applications in various industries, the use of MOFs in the fields of food and biomedicine is limited mainly due to their potential biological toxicity. Researchers have thus focused on developing biocompatible MOFs to address this issue. Among them, cyclodextrin-based metal-organic frameworks (CD-MOFs) have emerged as a promising alternative. CD-MOFs are novel MOFs synthesized using naturally carbohydrate cyclodextrin and alkali metal cations, and possess renewable, non-toxic, and edible characteristics. Due to their high specific surface area, controllable porosity, great biocompatibility, CD-MOFs have been widely used in various delivery systems, such as encapsulation of nutraceuticals, flavors, and antibacterial agents. Although the field of CD-MOF materials is still in its early stages, they provide a promising direction for the development of MOF materials in the delivery field. This review describes classification and structural characteristics, followed by an introduction to formation mechanism and commonly used synthetic methods for CD-MOFs. Additionally, we discuss the status of the application of various delivery systems based on CD-MOFs. The production and application of nanoplastics has been increased during decades, and the enterotoxicity caused by their bioaccumulation has attracted vast attention. Maltol was proved to exert a protective effect on gut damage induced by carbon tetrachloride and cisplatin, indicating its confrontation with nanoplastics-induced intestinal toxicity. To explore the ameliorative effects of maltol on polystyrene nanoplastics (PS)-mediated enterotoxicity and the underlying mechanism, the mice were exposed to PS (100 mg/kg), combining with or without the treatment of maltol treatment at 50 and 100 mg/kg. We found PS exposure caused intestinal barrier damage and enterocyte apoptosis, while lysosomal dysfunction and autophagic substrate degradation arrest in enterocytes of mice were also observed. In addition, PS exacerbated the disturbance of the intestinal microbial community, affected the abundance of lysosome and apoptosis-related bacterial genes, and decreased the number of known short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) producing bacteria. However, those alterations were improved by the maltol treatment. Maltol also protected the human intestinal Caco-2 cells from PS-induce damages. Mechanistic studies showed maltol promoted TFEB nuclear translocation through the AMPK/mTOR signaling pathway to restore lysosomal function and reduce autophagy dependent apoptosis. The findings in the present work might help to elucidate the potential molecular mechanisms of PS-induced enterotoxicity. In order to extract sulforaphane (SFN) from broccoli via green and efficient ways, a novel method based on salting-out assisted deep eutectic solvent (DES) has been developed. Compared to known organic solvent- (such as dichloromethane, ethyl acetate, n-hexane, etc.) based liquid-liquid extraction, this new N 8881 Cl-based DES method exhibited excellent extraction efficiency for SFN, including a significant improvement due to the salting-out effect of KH 2 PO 4 . Under optimal conditions, 97.77 % of SFN was extracted by N 8881 Cl-EG DES and more than 82.5 % of SFN was recovered by activated carbon from DES. In addition, further studies with Kamlet-Taft parameters and density functional theory showed that the H-bond accepting capacity of hydrophobic DES, the existing vdW interaction, and the electrostatic interaction between N 8881 Cl-EG DES all contributed to efficient extraction of SFN. A novel method for benzo(α)pyrene (Bαp) enrichment from an oil matrix was developed by using magnetic nanoparticles (Fe 3 O 4 @dopamine/graphene oxide, Fe 3 O 4 @DA/GO) as extraction absorbents, and the chemical properties of the synthesized nanoparticles were characterized. Various parameters were investigated to optimize the extraction of Bαp from oils. Under optimal conditions (pH, 4; extraction time, 0.5 min; elution solvent, 1 mL; absorbent weight, 20 mg; elution time, 0.5 min), these nanoparticles showed excellent abilities to enrich Bαp from the saponified oil solution and were easily separated by a magnet. High-performance liquid chromatography plus fluorescence detection (HPLC-FLD) was then applied to determine the Bαp content with excellent linearity (R 2  = 0.999). The detection limit was 0.13 µg/kg, while the limit of quantification was 0.42 µg/kg. The spiked recoveries of Bαp in oils ranged from 73.5% to 121%. Cold plasma as a green and expeditious tool was used to modify whey protein isolate (WPI) in order to improve its emulsion capability. The emulsion-based oleogels with antibacterial functions were then constructed using the modified WPI. The modified WPI treated with cold plasma under 10 s at 50 W power significantly lowered the oil-water interface tension. Meanwhile, the fluorescence intensity and the α-helix content of WPI reduced with the cold plasma treatment. It is noted that SEM results showed that the treated WPI had more regular dendritic structures. Such modified WPI was applied to construct oleogels loaded with thyme essential oil and coconut oil, which showed a porous uniform network structure and excellent antimicrobial activities against E.coli. As a proof of concept, this study demonstrated cold plasma could be as a new facile tool to modify food-sourced proteins and expected to enlarge their applications in oleogel productions., (Copyright © 2021 Elsevier Ltd. New structured lipids with 1,3-oleic-2-medium chain (OMO) triacylglycerols were synthesized by promoting acyl migration in Lipozyme RM IM catalyzed interesterification between coconut oil (CO) and high oleic rapeseed oil (HORO). Results from an orthogonal design L 25 (5 5 ) showed that the maximal yield of OMO-structured triacylglycerols was 45.65% under the following conditions: the molar ratio of CO to HORO, 50:50; enzyme dosage, 12 wt%; reaction temperature, 60 °C; reaction time, 2 h; water activity, 0.07. Low water activity showed a high rate of acyl migration (10.86% vs 5.07% no water system), which promoted OMO synthesis due to medium-chain fatty acid migration to the sn-2 position. In a low water content (5%) system of the molecular dynamics simulation, water molecules stabilized the whole structure of RM IM through hydrogen bonding, which helped fix lipase-catalyzed active sites, making substrates more easily inserted into active sites, resulting in increased enzyme activity., (Copyright © 2019 Elsevier Ltd. This study aimed to explore the possibility of using methionine sulfone (Msn)-containing orbitides as indicators to evaluate the oxidation process of flaxseed oils. Results showed that after 4 days' heating, oxidation values slightly increased (p > .05) with significant decrease in methionine (Met)-containing peptides (p < .05) instead of γ-tocopherol (p > .05). However, as oxidation time continues increasing, oxidation values significantly increased (p < .05) with significant reduction of γ-tocopherol (p < .05). It demonstrated that Met-containing peptides were more readily oxidized compared with γ-tocopherol and showed certain antioxidant activity. Besides, high logarithmic correlations were found between oxidation values and Msn-containing orbitides (0.94-1.00), such as between total carbonyl compounds and orbitide [1-8-NαC],[1-MetO 2 ]-CLE (64.95 lnx - 52.14, R 2  = 0.99, Dingya23 oil). Therefore, in comparison with common oxidation indices, Msn-containing orbitides may be better indicators for evaluating the oxidation process of flaxseed oil with superior separation efficiency, specific information and high stability., (Copyright © 2018 Elsevier Ltd.
