Background: While ambient air pollution has been associated with fetal growth in singletons, its correlation among twins is not well-established due to limited research in this area., Methods: The effects of exposure to PM 2.5 particulate matter and its main components during pregnancy on birth weight and the incidence of large for gestational age (LGA) were investigated in 6177 twins born after in vitro fertilization at the Center for Reproductive Medicine of Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital (Shanghai, China) between 2007 and 2021. Other birth weight-related outcomes included macrosomia, low birth weight, very low birth weight, and small for gestational age (SGA). The associations of PM 2.5 exposure with birth weight outcomes were analyzed using linear mixed-effect models and random-effect logistic regression models. Distributed lag models were incorporated to estimate the time-varying associations., Results: The findings revealed that an interquartile range (IQR) increase (18 μg/m 3 ) in PM 2.5 exposure over the entire pregnancy was associated with a significant increase (57.06 g, 95 % confidence interval [CI]: 30.91, 83.22) in the total birth weight of twins. The effect was more pronounced in larger fetuses (34.93 g, 95 % CI: 21.13, 48.72) compared to smaller fetuses (21.77 g, 95 % CI: 6.94, 36.60) within twin pregnancies. Additionally, an IQR increase in PM 2.5 exposure over the entire pregnancy was associated with a 34 % increase in the risk of LGA (95 % CI: 11 %, 63 %). Alkylphenols (APs) may cause gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in pregnant women by impairing glucose metabolism through endocrine disruption. However, the current literature has limited epidemiological evidence on the association between APs exposure and the risk of GDM, especially the lack of evidence on joint exposure. Thus, we evaluated the effect of exposure to APs during early pregnancy on the risk of GDM. The study involved 2035 pregnant women from Guangxi Zhuang Birth Cohort (GZBC) in China. Poisson regression model, restricted cubic spline (RCS), Bayesian kernel machine regression (BKMR), and quantile g-computation (Qgcomp) were conducted to evaluate the effects of serum APs levels on the risk of GDM in pregnant women. For each Ln-unit increase in the serum nonylphenol (NP) of pregnant women, the adjusted relative risk (RR) for GDM risk was 1.12 (95 % CI: 1.00, 1.24). After sex stratification, the effect was more pronounced among pregnant women carrying female fetuses（RR=1.22; 95 % CI: 1.09, 1.38). The serum 4-t-octylphenol (4-T-OP) of the medium-exposure (adjusted RR = 3.25: 95 % CI: 1.30, 8.12) and high-exposure groups (adjusted RR = 2.90: 95 % CI: 1.15, 7.31) were related to a significantly increased risk of GDM in pregnant women carrying female fetuses only when compared to the low-exposure group. A reverse U-shaped nonlinear association was found between 4-n-octylphenol (4-N-OP) and 4-n-nonylphenol (4-N-NP) concentrations and GDM risk, and it was more susceptible in pregnant women carrying female fetuses. The Qgcomp and BKMR models showed that exposure to APs mixtures was correlated with an elevated risk of GDM in pregnant women carrying female fetuses (adjusted OR = 1.90: 95 % CI: 1.07, 3.38). Aims: The RNA-binding protein LSM7 is essential for RNA splicing, acting as a key component of the spliceosome complex; however, its specific role in breast cancer (BC) has not been extensively investigated., Materials and Methods: LSM7 expression in BC samples was evaluated through bioinformatics analysis and immunohistochemistry. The impact of LSM7 on promoting metastatic tumor characteristics was examined using transwell and wound healing assays, as well as an orthotopic xenograft model. Additionally, the involvement of LSM7 in alternative splicing of CD44 was explored via RNA immunoprecipitation and third-generation sequencing. The regulatory role of TCF3 in modulating LSM7 gene expression was further elucidated using luciferase reporter assays and chromatin immunoprecipitation., Key Findings: Our findings demonstrate that LSM7 was significantly overexpressed in metastatic BC tissues and was associated with poor prognostic outcomes in patients with BC. LSM7 overexpression markedly increased the migratory and invasive capabilities of BC cells in vitro and significantly promoted spontaneous lung metastasis in vivo. Furthermore, RIP-seq analysis revealed that LSM7 binded to CD44 RNA, enhancing the expression of its alternatively spliced isoform CD44s, thereby driving BC metastasis and invasion. Additionally, the transcription factor TCF3 was found to activate LSM7 transcription by directly binding to its promoter., Significance: In summary, this study highlights the pivotal role of LSM7 in the production of the CD44s isoform and the promotion of breast cancer metastasis. Accurately monitoring H 2 O 2 concentrations in 3D cell clusters is challenging due to limited diffusion and rapid degradation of H 2 O 2 in the culture medium. Despite the incorporation of three-dimensional cell culture approaches, the detection technology has largely remained as a 2D planar system. In this study, we present a versatile approach of 3D electrochemical sensing utilizing carbon nanotubes as conductive scaffolds for in-situ monitoring of H 2 O 2 in cell clusters. These scaffolds enabled direct contact between H 2 O 2 released from cells and the electrodes, thereby improving sensitivity and ensuring biocompatibility for cell aggregates. The scaffolds exhibited electrocatalytic behavior with a limit of detection of 6.7 nM H 2 O 2 . Additionally, the electrochemical responses of cell clusters with the scaffolds exhibited significantly higher current compared to clusters without scaffolds when stimulated with model drugs. Thirty-two diterpenoids including 18 ent-kauranes (1-6, and 12-23), nine 8,9-seco-ent-kauranes (7-8, and 24-30), four ent-abietanes (9-10, and 31-32), and one crotofolane (11) were isolated from the twigs and leaves of Croton kongensis. The structures of previously unreported crokokaugenoids A-H (1-8), crokoabiegenoids A-B (9-10), and crokocrotogenoid A (11) were determined by spectroscopic data analyses, TDDFT-ECD and GIAO NMR calculations, and X-ray crystallographic studies. All compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxic activity against five human tumor cell lines, and the structure-activity relationships were discussed. Biological tests exhibited that compound 1 possessed strong anti-proliferation activity, arrested cell cycle at G2/M phase, and induced cell apoptosis of MDA-MB-231. The mechanism investigation showed that compound 1 can inhibit tumor proliferation and migration by targeting mitochondria to increase intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) and regulating STAT3 and FAK signal pathways. Previous research on affordance perception has shown that elite athletes can relate the environmental features to their motor abilities to detect the opportunities for action. In playing badminton doubles, experienced players can often anticipate whether a flick serve will go out-of-bounds or not. A field study was performed to examine if such an ability was associated with a developed affordance perception. Twenty-two players with and without badminton playing experience were asked to play a receiver on court to judge without looking back whether a flick serve was out-of-bounds in both standing and retreating conditions. Forty flick serves were randomly delivered to either inner or outer rear corner of the receiver's box and land adjacent to the back service line. Each player's ability to reach high and retreat backward with a racquet was assessed on court. The results showed that predictions were better in the inner direction than the outer direction, but experienced players were more sensitive and conservative overall. Playing experience appeared to be a consistent predictor for judgment accuracy. Spermatogenesis in eukaryotes is a process that occurs within a very narrow temperature threshold, typically not exceeding 36 °C. SPO11 was isolated from the temperature-sensitive mutant receptor of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and is thought to be the only protein that functions during meiosis. This suggested that SPO11 may be the key protein that influenced the temperature of spermatogenesis not exceeding 36 °C. Elevated temperatures typically damage the spermatogenic cells. Birds have a core body temperature of 41-42 °C, and their testis are located inside their bodies, providing an alternative perspective to investigate the potential impact of temperature threshold on spermatogenesis. The objective of this study was to ascertain whether elevated ambient temperatures affect spermatogenesis in birds and whether SPO11 is the key gene affecting the temperature threshold for spermatogenesis. STRA8, SCP3, SPO11, γ-H2AX, and RAD51 were all crucial components in the process of meiotic initiation, synapsis, DNA double-strand break (DSB) induction, homologous chromosome crossover recombination, and repair of DSB. In this study, 39-day-old Japanese quail were subjected to heat stress (HS) at 38 °C for 8 h per day for 3 (3d HS) and 13 (13d HS) consecutive days and analyzed the expression of meiotic signaling molecules (STRA8, SCP3, SPO11, γ-H2AX, and RAD51) using molecular biology techniques, including Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Western Blot (WB), and Real-time Quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (qRT-PCR). We found that spermatogenesis was normal in both groups exposed to HS. Meiotic signaling molecules were expressed normally in the 3d HS group. All detected signaling molecules were normally expressed in the 13d HS group, except for SPO11, which showed a significant increase in expression, indicating that SPO11 was temperature-sensitive. We examined the localized expression of each meiotic signaling molecule in quail testis, explored the temperature sensitivity of SPO11, and determined that quail testis can undergo normal spermatogenesis at ambient temperatures exceeding 36 °C. This study concluded that SPO11 is not the key protein influencing spermatogenesis in birds. Quantifying the impacts of climate change and wetland area dynamics on methane (CH 4 ) emissions in the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau (QTP) is crucial for enhancing our understanding of regional and global CH 4 budgets. However, a major source of uncertainty in estimating wetland methane emissions stems from the limited delineation of wetland area dynamics. In this study, we integrated dynamic wetland inundation schemes into a process-based model to quantify the contributions of wetland area variations to natural wetland CH 4 emissions on the QTP, both historically and in the future. The results revealed that climate change significantly influenced the spatiotemporal distribution of wetland CH 4 emissions, with wetland inundation dynamics contributing between 21.84 % and 27.18 % of the increase in CH 4 emissions from 1960 to 2020. Water pollution poses a significant risk to the environment and human health, necessitating the development of innovative detection methods. In this study, a series of representative psychoactive compounds were selected as model pollutants, and a new approach combining zebrafish embryo behavioral phenotyping with deep learning was used to identify and classify water pollutants. Zebrafish embryos were exposed to 17 psychoactive compounds at environmentally relevant concentrations (1 and 10 μg/L), and their locomotor behavior was recorded at 5 and 6 days post-fertilization (dpf). We constructed six distinct zebrafish locomotor track datasets encompassing various observation times and developmental stages and evaluated multiple deep learning models on these datasets. The results demonstrated that the ResNet101 model performed optimally on the 1-min track dataset at 6 dpf, achieving an accuracy of 65.35 %. Interpretability analyses revealed that the model effectively focused on the relevant locomotor track features for classification. These findings suggest that the integration of zebrafish embryo behavioral analysis with deep learning can serve as an environmentally friendly and economical method for detecting water pollutants. Multidrug-resistant (MDR) Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a serious life-threatening pathogen. The rise in P. aeruginosa resistance rates has renewed interest in phages as an alternative therapeutic approach for treating bacterial infections. In this study, we investigated the characteristics of the first Pseudomonas phage, vB_PaP_HN01, isolated from Hainan, the only tropical island in China. The lytic rate of this phage against P. aeruginosa reached 64.3 % (27/42). Under the optimal multiplicity of infection (MOI) of 0.1, more than 90 % of phage particles absorb onto the host cell within 10 min, with an eclipse period of around 15 min, and a high titer phage production (10 11  PFU/ml) within 90 min was demonstrated. vB_PaP_HN01 maintains a robust titer after 1 h exposure to pH values and temperatures (up to 50 °C). Genome annotation revealed that vB_PaP_HN01 did not contain drug-resistance or lysogeny-associated genes. It can effectively inhibit the formation of biofilms of MDR P. aeruginosa and eliminated aggressive biofilms (removal rate about 70 %). In the in vivo infection models, it was demonstrated that the survival rate and lifespan of Galleria mellonella larvae were increased alongside the injection of vB_PaP_HN01. Obesity and its related diseases continue to rise worldwide, necessitating further investigation to develop new therapeutic strategies. The dysregulation of redox homeostasis is tightly associated with metabolic diseases. Glutathione, an antioxidant, acts as a cofactor for antioxidant and detoxification enzymes such as glutathione S-transferases (GSTs)-a superfamily including Gstm4. So far, the physiological role of Gstm4 remains largely unknown. Human genetics is a powerful tool to discover novel therapeutic targets for metabolic diseases. The single nucleotide polymorphism rs650985, located within the sixth intron of the human gene Gstm4, was associated with plasma lipids, indicating that targeting Gstm4 might intervene in the progression of dyslipidemia. Furthermore, we found that Gstm4 is highly expressed in the liver and enriched in hepatocytes-the parenchymal cells of the liver. We established the mouse model with the hepatic deletion of Gstm4 and found that this mouse model did not present altered body weight, serum lipid profile, or liver fat content in the context of chow or high-fat high cholesterol diet feeding, indicating that hepatic Gstm4 is dispensable for diet-induced obesity and dyslipidemia. Zinc (Zn) and selenium (Se) are beneficial elements for crops, enhancing crop quality and alleviating heavy metal toxicity. However, there is limited research on the role of foliar Zn and Se in the mechanism of reducing cadmium (Cd) uptake in crops. A field experiment was conducted to investigate the effect on subcellular distribution, leaf antioxidant enzyme activities, and the transcriptional regulation in the process of Cd accumulation of rice grains after foliar applications of Zn, Se, and their mixed solutions (ZnSe). The results show that Zn and ZnSe reduced Cd content in the grains of three different rice (13.9 %-21.8 %/11.9 %-29.5 %) by enhancing the fixation capacity of Cd in the flag leaf by improving the binding efficiency between pectin and Cd in the cell wall. Increased flag leaf antioxidant enzyme activities further mitigated the toxic effects of Cd on rice, while Zn and ZnSe treatments upregulated genes related to metal-binding proteins and antioxidant enzymes and downregulated metal transport genes. Acetaminophen (APAP), an analgesic and antipyretic drug, is commonly detected in wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) effluents, surface water, and soil, indicating its status as an emerging environmental contaminant. In this study, we isolated a bacterium, Pseudomonas taiwanensis AP-1, capable of completely mineralizing APAP and utilizing it as the sole carbon source for growth. A newly identified metabolite, γ-glutamyl-4-aminophenol (γ-G4AP), was reported for the first time in the degradation of APAP by strain AP-1. Two amidases (ApaH1 and ApaH2), responsible for the conversion of APAP to 4-aminophenol (4-AP), were identified through a combination of genomic comparison, heterologous expression, and gene knockout. Notably, ApaH1 played a pivotal role in the degradation of APAP by strain AP-1. The catalytic triad of ApaH1 (K82-S161-S185) and ApaH2 (K85-S160-S184) were identified as by molecular docking and site-directed mutagenesis. Additionally, a gene cluster apd for the metabolism of 4-AP was also successfully identified in strain AP-1, consisting of the aniline dioxygenase gene cluster apdBCD1D2EF and the BT catabolic gene apdGH. Interestingly, the 4-AP metabolic gene cluster apd was highly conserved among other Pseudomonas strains capable of APAP degradation. There has been heavy application of chemical pesticides to farmland worldwide. As a state with a heavy emphasis on farming, China has extensively applied chemical pesticides to farmlands. Atrazine (ATZ), one of the most widely used herbicide in the world, has been used in large quantities in weed control in many crops, which poses a relatively large threat to groundwater utilization and agricultural safety. A nationwide sampling and analysis of ATZ in 8146 groundwater monitoring wells from 10 main grain producing areas were conducted during 2019. The results showed that the detection rate of ATZ in groundwater was 40.79 %, with detected concentrations up to 2.86 μg/L. ATZ detection rate was significantly higher in phreatic aquifers than confined aquifer. The concentration of ATZ decreased significantly with the depth increasing, the detected depth of ATZ in groundwater was varied from 5 to 1100 m, and 70.27 % of the detected ATZ was distributed in the depth of 0-51.8 m. The detection rate of ATZ in most north regions lower than south regions in China, and ATZ with high concentration was mainly occurred in southern regions. ATZ is more likely to migrate into the groundwater in the water resource rich areas. Background: The current practice guideline regarding treatment for insomnia and sleep disturbances among children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has been published and it suggests that the use of weighted blankets might not be an evidence-informed practice. However, limited guidance and evidence synthesis exist on the overall effectiveness of a weighted blanket for symptom management among patients with mental disorders, although it has been routinely recommended and prescribed for this population in many mental health care settings., Objective: To systematically evaluate and synthesize existing data on the safety and effectiveness of weighted blankets for symptom management among patients with mental disorders., Methods: Comprehensive retrieval of published, unpublished, or ongoing studies was carried out across a series of bibliographic databases, grey literature sources, and clinical trial registry platforms, along with manual screening of the reference lists of the included studies or relevant reviews. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were included if they compared a weighted blanket intervention and a control condition among patients with mental disorders. Two reviewers independently extracted the data using a pre-specified form and assessed the methodological quality of the included studies with the revised Cochrane 'Risk of Bias' (RoB 2) tool. Review Manager (RevMan) 5.3 software was used to conduct the meta-analysis when possible. Subgroup and sensitivity analyses, where appropriate, were conducted to explore the robustness of the pooled effect estimates., Results: Eight studies involving a total of 426 patients were included in this review. Half of the included studies were rated as having a high risk of bias, primarily due to the failure to blind participants for participant-reported measures. No serious adverse events were reported with the application of weighted blankets. The meta-analysis of five studies revealed that the use of weighted blankets induced a small magnitude decrease (standardized mean difference within studies [SMD]= 0.40) in anxiety management. The pooled estimate of three studies reporting the effect of weighted blankets on insomnia revealed a nonsignificant difference between the two groups (mean difference [MD] = -1.92, 95 % confidence interval [CI] = -3.92-0.09, p = 0.06). However, the leave-one-out sensitivity analysis of the two remaining homogeneous studies revealed that patients who used weighted blankets had reduced insomnia severity index (ISI) scores (MD = -2.78, 95 % CI = -4.44 to -1.12, p = 0.001). Additionally, a study without available data for inclusion in the meta-analysis also reported a positive effect in reducing the ISI score. Due to the heterogeneity across studies, summary estimates for the effects of weighted blankets on fatigue and depression were not computed. However, primary studies reporting these two outcomes demonstrated that the application of weighted blankets had a positive effect., Conclusion: Weighted blankets may be a safe and effective add-on treatment for managing common symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia, depression, and fatigue among psychiatric patients. However, these results need to be further confirmed due to the limited number of studies included in this review, the small sample size and the significant heterogeneity across these primary studies. Objectives: Long COVID has received much attention as a complex multi-system disease due to its serious impact on quality of life. However, there remains inconsistent results in terms of risk factors, and a prediction model for the accurate prediction of long COVID is still lacking., Study Design: Cross-sectional study., Methods: In this retrospective study, a community population from the Futian District of Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China, were included. Data were collected from September to December 2023 using an electronic questionnaire. Logistic regression analyses were used to identify predictors of long COVID. Pre-infection and post-infection prediction models (with/without post-infection characteristics) were developed, and the C-index was used to evaluate accuracy., Results: In total, 420 patients infected COVID-19 were included. The prevalence of long COVID was 32.9 %. The most common symptoms of long COVID were weakness/fatigue, persistent cough and cognitive dysfunction. Independent predictors of long COVID included in the pre-infection model were age, long-term medication, and psychological problems such as stress and doing things without enthusiasm/interest before COVID-19 infection (C-index: 0.721). Independent predictors included in the post-infection model were age, inability to concentrate before COVID-19 infection, and symptoms of weakness/fatigue, abnormal smell/taste, diarrhoea, eye conjunctivitis and headache/dizziness during the acute-phase (C-index: 0.857)., Conclusions: Age, psychological problems before COVID-19 infection and acute-phase symptoms were important risk factors of long COVID. Results from the pre-infection model provide guidance for non-infected individuals on how to prevent long COVID. Placenta ferroptosis has been proven to be associated with a variety of adverse pregnancy outcomes. Arsenic, a conventional metal noxious substance, has garnered considerable attention due to traversing the placental barrier. How arsenic induces placental ferroptosis and reproductive developmental toxicities remains largely unknown. Herein, we investigated the impact of sodium arsenite (As (III)) on iron homeostasis in the placenta through both in vivo and in vitro experiments by using HTR-8/SVneo cells and ICR pregnant mice. As (III) up-regulated the expression of genes or proteins associated with iron uptake (TFRC, DMT1), iron storage (FTH, FTL), ferritin autophagy (NCOA4), and heme degradation (HO-1), and induced cell iron overload. Additionally, accumulation of the lipid hydroperoxide malondialdehyde within cells was triggered by As (III) through inhibition of the Nrf2/GPX4 signal pathway, which resulted in cellular ferroptosis. Fer-1 effectively alleviated the suppression of GPX4 induced by As (III), reduced the accumulation of intracellular lipid peroxidation product MDA, and mitigated cellular ferroptosis. As (III) affected the iron homeostasis, as evidenced by the abnormal iron accumulation in the placenta. Placental structural abnormalities and hemorrhage may be the reason for As (III) causing placental injury and subsequent poor pregnancy outcomes. Bisphenol H (BPH) has emerged as a potential alternative to bisphenol A (BPA), which has been curtailed for use due to concerns over its reproductive and endocrine toxicity. This study investigates whether BPH exerts antiandrogenic effects by impairing Leydig cell function, a critical component in testosterone production. We administered orally BPH to adult male rats at doses of 0, 1, 10, and 100 mg/kg/day for 7 days. Notably, BPH treatment resulted in a dose-dependent reduction in testicular testosterone levels, with significant decreases observed at ≥ 1 mg/kg/day. Additionally, BPH affected the expression of key genes involved in steroidogenesis and cholesterol metabolism, including Nr5a1, Nr3c4, Lhcgr, Scarb1, and Star, at higher doses (10 and/or 100 mg/kg/day). The study also revealed alterations in antioxidant gene expression (Sod2 and Cat) and modulation of m6A-related genes (Ythdf1-3 and Foxo3) and their proteins. Through MeRIP-qPCR analysis, we identified increased m6A modifications in Scarb1 and Star genes following BPH exposure. In vitro experiments with primary Leydig cells confirmed that BPH enhanced oxidative stress and diminished testosterone production, which were partially mitigated by antioxidant vitamin E supplementation and Ythdf3 knockdown. Meanwhile, simultaneous administration of BPH and vitamin E to primary Leydig cells partially counteracted BPH-induced alterations in the Ythdf3 expression. Trichloroethylene (TCE) is a common environmental contaminant that can induce occupational dermatitis medicamentosa-like TCE (ODMLT), where the liver damage is the most common complication. The study aims to uncover the underlying mechanism of TCE-sensitization-induced liver damage by targeting specific exosomal microRNAs (miRNAs). Among the enriched serum exosomal miRNAs of ODMLT patients, miR-205-5p had a significant correlation coefficient with the liver function damage indicators. Moreover, retinoic acid receptor-related orphan receptor α (RORα) was identified as a direct target of miR-205-5p via specific binding. Further experiments showed that kupffer cells (KCs) underwent M1 phenotypic and functional changes in liver injury induced by TCE which were alleviated by reducing the expression of miR-205-5p. However, this alleviation was reversed by the RORα antagonist SR1001. In vitro experiments showed that miR-205-5p promoted M1 polarization of macrophages and enhanced the secretion of inflammatory factors by regulating RORα. An increase in RORα reversed the polarization direction of M1-type macrophages and reduced the secretion of proinflammatory factors. In addition, pretreatment of mice with SR1078, a specific RORα agonist, effectively blocked M1 polarization of KCs and reduced the severity of TCE-induced liver injury. Background: Uterine corpus endometrial carcinoma (UCEC) is a prevalent gynecological tumor with a bleak prognosis. Anomalous glycosylation plays a pivotal role in tumorigenesis. Currently, there is a lack of prognostic signatures based on glycosylation-related genes for UCEC. Thus, our research aims to construct a predictive model and validate the correlation between relevant genes and biological functions., Methods: Using the TCGA database, we developed prognostic models and explored their relationships with survival outcomes. We further selected key genes to verify their expression in tissues and assess their impact on cellular behavior., Results: The clinical prognosis of the high-risk group was significantly worse than that of the low-risk group. The nomogram model accurately predicted UCEC patient prognosis. Additionally, we identified OLFML1 as a unique signature gene that can inhibit UCEC progression and reduce radiation resistance in vitro., Conclusions: Our model, which is based on glycosylation-related genes in UCEC, effectively identifies high-risk patients and provides valuable prognostic information. Typhoons greatly affect ocean hydrodynamics, thereby altering ocean productivity and biogeochemistry. This study used stable isotopes and geochemical indicators of particulate organic matter (POM) to investigate the impact of Typhoon Talim (2023) on marine productivity and POM dynamics in Zhanjiang Bay. During the typhoon, an ocean front formed in the upper bay, resulting in a nearly twofold increased POM and enhanced decomposition of resuspended POM, due to the strengthened vertical mixing. Despite of strong decomposition, the supplementation of terrestrial nutrient inputs maintained minimal changes in chlorophyll in the upper bay. By contrast, in the lower bay, chlorophyll and POM decreased significantly, primarily attributed to decomposition of fresh POM and nitrogen limitation resulting from high-salinity seawater intrusion induced by the typhoon. Trichloroethylene (TCE) is a common environmental pollutant and industrial chemical that has been associated with adverse health effects, especially on organ systems. The purpose of this review is to summarize the current findings on organ system damage caused by TCE exposure and the underlying mechanisms involved. Numerous studies have shown that TCE exposure may cause damage to multiple organ systems, mainly the skin, liver, kidney, and circulatory system. The mechanisms leading to TCE-induced organ system damage are complex and diverse. TCE is metabolized in vivo to reactive intermediates, through which TCE can induce oxidative stress, interfere with cell signaling pathways, and promote inflammatory responses. In addition, studies have shown that TCE interferes with DNA repair mechanisms, leading to genotoxicity and potentially carcinogenic effects. This review highlights the importance of understanding the deleterious effects of TCE exposure on organ systems and provides insights into the underlying mechanisms involved. Background: In-cell NMR is a valuable technique for investigating protein structure and function in cellular environments. However, challenges arise due to highly crowded cellular environment, where nonspecific interactions between the target protein and other cellular components can lead to signals broadening or disappearance in NMR spectra., Results: We implemented chemical reduction methylation to selectively modify lysine residues on protein surfaces aiming to weaken charge interactions and recover obscured NMR signals. This method was tested on six proteins varying in molecular size and lysine content. Edible films are effective alternatives to plastic packaging, however, the hydrophilicity of edible films based on protein and polysaccharide limits the application. Therefore, we fabricated a water-stable hybrid film with a linear-spherical interpenetrating molecular topology network using egg white (EW), chitosan (CS), and pectin. Meanwhile, the nisin-tannin acid self-assembly complex nanoparticles were employed as a multifunctional cross-linker, antibacterial and antioxidant agent to improve the performance of films. The FTIR, XRD, and SEM analysis revealed that the conformation and crystalline structure rearrangement of chitosan induced by the alkaline environment provided by egg white enhanced the network structure of films, effectively avoided the addition of modifying reagents. The proposed hybrid films exhibited excellent properties, with EW/TNPCS3 showing the best overall performance. The water contact angle (WCA) increased to 105.27 ± 1.62°, and its dissolution and swelling rates were significantly lower than pure egg white and pure chitosan films. Moreover, tannin-nisin (TN) nanoparticles endowed the films with excellent antimicrobial activity against the common Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus) and Gram-negative (Escherichia coli) bacteria. The bactericidal properties of traditional food coatings mostly depend on the amount of fungicides present, which reduces the sustainability of food packaging. Herein, we proposed a magnetic field to precisely modulate the near-infrared (NIR) absorption activity to enhance antimicrobial coatings sustainability. Inspired by the typical grinding procedure, the assembly of CP/Fe 3 O 4 @TA nanofiber hydrogel was proposed as the coating, applying mechanical force and encouraging the collision of effective molecules of puerarin (PUE), chitosan (CS), and Fe 3 O 4 @TA NFs. This hydrogel design offers precise control over the physical and chemical properties, including appearance, viscoelasticity, and rheology. Particularly, significant changes in photothermal performance were observed as a result of magnetic regulation of NIR absorption activity. As a result, the CP/Fe 3 O 4 @TA coatings achieve effective bacteria killing performance under NIR irradiation, magnetocaloric effect, boric acid adsorption, and aggregation interference. Finally, the hydrogel coating was applied to the beef surface and serves as an effective barrier against the growth of pathogenic bacteria, thereby preserving the freshness and tenderness of the beef. Background: Three-dimensional (3D) organoids derived from human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) have revolutionized in vitro tissue modeling, offering a unique opportunity to replicate physiological tissue organization and functionality. This study investigates the impact of radiation on skeletal muscle response using an innovative in vitro human 3D skeletal muscle organoids (hSMOs) model derived from hPSCs., Methods: The hSMOs model was established through a differentiation protocol faithfully recapitulating embryonic myogenesis and maturation via paraxial mesodermal differentiation of hPSCs. Key skeletal muscle characteristics were confirmed using immunofluorescent staining and RT-qPCR. Subsequently, the hSMOs were exposed to a clinically relevant dose of 2 Gy of radiation, and their response was analyzed using immunofluorescent staining and RNA-seq., Results: The hSMO model faithfully recapitulated embryonic myogenesis and maturation, maintaining key skeletal muscle characteristics. Following exposure to 2 Gy of radiation, histopathological analysis revealed deficits in hSMOs expansion, differentiation, and repair response across various cell types at early (30 min) and intermediate (18 h) time points post-radiation. Immunofluorescent staining targeting γH2AX and 53BP1 demonstrated elevated levels of foci per cell, particularly in PAX7 + cells, during early and intermediate time points, with a distinct kinetic pattern showing a decrease at 72 h. Using the amino acid sequences and analysis of selected known structures of Bt Cry toxins, Cry1Ab, Cry1Ac, Cry1Ah, Cry1B, Cry1C and Cry1F we specifically designed immunogens. After antibodies selection, broad-spectrum polyclonal antibodies (pAbs) and monoclonal antibody (namely 1A0-mAb) were obtained from rabbit and mouse, respectively. The produced pAbs displayed broad spectrum activity by recognizing Cry1 toxin, Cry2Aa, Cry2Ab and Cry3Aa with half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC 50 ) values of 0.12-9.86 μg/mL. Similarly, 1A0-mAb showed broad spectrum activity, recognizing all of the above Cry protein (IC 50 values of 4.66-20.46 μg/mL) with the exception of Cry2Aa. Using optimizations studies, 1A10-mAb was used as a capture antibody and pAbs as detection antibody. Double antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (DAS-ELISAs) were established for Cry1 toxin, Cry2Ab and Cry3Aa with the limit of detection (LOD) values of 2.36-36.37 ng/mL, respectively. The present DAS-ELISAs had good accuracy and precisions for the determination of Cry toxin spiked tap water, corn, rice, soybeans and soil samples. In conclusion, the present study has successfully obtained broad-spectrum pAbs and mAb. Sepsis, a life-threatening condition resulting in multiple organ dysfunction, is characterized by a dysregulated immune response to infection. Current treatment options are limited, leading to unsatisfactory outcomes for septic patients. Here, we present a series of studies utilizing compact bone mesenchymal stem cells (CB-MSCs) and their derived paracrine mediators, especially exosome (CB-MSCs-Exo), to treat mice with cecal ligation and puncture-induced sepsis. Our results demonstrate that CB-MSCs treatment significantly improves the survival rate of septic mice by mitigating excessive inflammatory response and attenuating sepsis-induced organ injuries. Furthermore, CB-MSCs-conditioned medium, CB-MSCs secretome (CB-MSCs-Sec), and CB-MSCs-Exo exhibit potent anti-inflammatory effects in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated murine macrophage (RAW264.7). Intriguingly, intravenous administration of CB-MSCs-Exo confers superior protection against inflammation and organ damage in septic mice compared to CB-MSCs in certain aspects. Using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) shotgun proteomic analysis, we identify a range of characterized proteins derived from the paracrine activity of CB-MSCs, involved in critical biological processes such as immunomodulation and apoptosis. To increase elasticity and flexibility, di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP) is used in a variety of industrial products, but excessive exposure to it can pose a threat to human health. In epidemiological studies of population exposure to DEHP, attention has been paid to damage to the male reproductive system. However, the toxicological mechanism of DEHP regarding testicular injury is not well understood. We used Western blot analysis, transmission electron microscopy, fluorescence staining, transient transfection and assay kit to detect relevant indicators, and the results were as follows: After DEHP exposure, the expression levels of ACSL4, COX2, TF, FTH1, LC3, AMPK, p-AMPK, ULK1, p-ULK1, serum iron, tissue iron and MDA in the exposure group were significantly increased. The expression levels of GPX4, NCOA4, p62, SIRT1, and PGC-1α, as well as the contents of GSH and ATP, decreased. Electron microscopy showed that more autophagosomes were observed. Our findings suggest that exposure to DEHP induced ferritinophagy and ferroptosis in the testis. In vitro, the promoting effect of ferritinophagy on ferroptosis was verified by applying the autophagy inhibitor (3-MA) and si-NCOA4. Moreover, Mono-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (MEHP) inhibited the mitochondrial regulatory protein SIRT1/PGC-1α, leading to mitochondrial dysfunction. Changes in mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (MtROS) and energy over-activated AMPK/ULK1 autophagy pathway, and then promoted ferritinophagy, which increased the sensitivity of TM4 cells to ferroptosis. Three-dimensional fluorescence spectroscopy has been widely used to detect organic pollutants in water. However, the amount of data required for three-dimensional fluorescence spectroscopy analysis is relatively large, and the time cost of sample collection is high. The amount of data has become an unavoidable limitation of spectral analysis. This study takes the detection of phenol in industrial discharge wastewater as an example and proposes a transfer learning method for small fluorescence spectroscopy datasets. First, fluorescence spectra are generated by splitting them into linear combinations of positively and negatively distributed spectra. Then, based on the idea of transfer learning, the generated fluorescence spectra are used to train a task-specific pre-trained model, which is then transferred to the collected spectral dataset. Experimental results show that the prediction performance of the transfer learning method is improved by 50.08 % compared with that obtained by directly training the model using a small amount of spectral data. In addition, when the spectral data remains unchanged, the accuracy of the model can be improved to a certain extent by increasing the amount of spectral data used for pre-training. The transfer learning method proposed in this study further improves the prediction accuracy when data is limited, and the results of verification in real environments are also satisfactory. Phytohormones play crucial roles in regulation of plant growth and tolerance to abiotic stresses. The 2-oxoglutarate-dependent dioxygenase (2OGD) superfamily responds to hormone biosynthesis and metabolism in plants. However, the Nt2OGD family in tobacco has not been fully explored. In this study, we identify 126 members of the Nt2OGD family, and 60 of them are involved in hormone biosynthesis and metabolism process (Nt2OGD-Hs), including 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid oxidases (ACO), dioxygenases for auxin oxidation (DAO), gibberellin (GA) 20-oxidases and 3-oxidases (GA20ox and GA3ox), carbon-19 and carbon-20 GA 2-oxidases (C19-GA2ox and C20-GA2ox), lateral branching oxidoreductases (LBO), jasmonate-induced oxygenases (JOX), downy mildew resistant 6, and DMR6-like oxygenases (DMR6/DLO). Gene duplication analysis suggests the segmental duplication and whole genome duplication (WGD) might be a potential mechanism for the expansion of this family. Expression analysis reveals that most of Nt2OGD-Hs show tissue-specific expression patterns, and some of them respond to environmental conditions. Of Nt2OGD-Hs, the expression of NtJOX3 and NtJOX5, which are involved in JA metabolism, exhibits remarkable changes during drought treatments. Silencing of NtJOX3 or NtJOX5 increases tobacco tolerance to drought stress. Furthermore, knocking out OsJOX3 and OsJOX4, respectively in rice, result in high tolerance to drought.
