Inflammatory pseudotumor (IP) is a rare type of benign tumor. Although initially identified in the lung, it has now been identified in a number of somatic and visceral sites, but mesenteric presentation is uncommon and has a variable clinical presentation. As inflammatory pseudotumor mimic malignancy both clinically and radiologically, the radiologist should be familiar with this entity. The only effective treatment is complete surgical resection. We present the case of a 55-year-old woman who presented with chronic abdominal pain and was diagnosed with a mesenteric inflammatory pseudotumor, in an attempt to illustrate the different imaging aspects of this benign condition in ultrasound, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging, and to simplify the description of these tumors., (© 2024 The Authors. Objective: To identify a hypertensive clinical form of atropine or anticholinergic toxidrome secondary to accidental consumption of Datura seeds., Patients and Methods: We report two cases of Datura intoxication in two children who presented marked anticholinergic syndrome whose diagnosis was made by the anamnesis and the clinic., Result: Patient 1: A 5-year-old boy, returns home agitated with balance disorders. He was admitted to pediatric resuscitation unit. His Glasgow score was 11/15. The child made inconsistent remarks. The neurological examination revealed mydriasis. Hemodynamically, the blood pressure was 145/91mmHg, the heart rate was 145 bpm. The rest of the examination noted a temperature of 37.5°, a bladder globe. Standard biological tests were normal. ECG found sinus tachycardia. Urine analysis revealed a positive alkaloid reaction with the presence of atropine. The evolution was favorable after 48hours. Patient 2: 45-month-old boy admitted to a state of severe agitation of toxic origin. The clinical examination showed a central and peripheral anticholinergic symptomatology with severe hallucinations, severe hypertension, and a heart rate at 190 bpm. The rest of the examination found erythema in the thorax and upper limbs, bilateral mydriasis. The toxicological report confirmed the presence of alkaloids. The evolution was favorable., Conclusion: Hypertension crisis and other anticholinergic clinical signs of Datura stramonium intoxication achieve favorable outcomes in children., (Copyright © 2018 Elsevier Masson SAS. The decolourizing ability of Aspergillus alliaceus 121C was investigated on solid medium. The effects of nitrogen (N), carbon (C) sources and supplements on the decolourization of Indigo and Congo red dyes were studied. It has been shown that both the nature and the quantity of available N- and C-sources exert an influence on growth and decolourization. For the six N-sources (NH(4)Cl, Diammonium Tartrate, urea, malt extract, peptone and yeast extract) tested for Congo red decolourization, 8mM yeast extract provided the higher decolourized zone diameter (80 mm) and colony diameter (80 mm). 12 mM urea provided the higher decolourized zone diameter (76+/-2mm) and colony diameter (80 mm) for Indigo decolourization. For the C-sources tested (glucose, starch, glycerol and lactose), above 12.5mM of glucose and 62.5mM of starch provided the higher decolourized zones diameters of 80 mm and 77+/-3mm for Indigo and Congo red, respectively. When the fungi was grown in liquid medium containing optimum carbon and nitrogen sources supplemented with oak sawdust and wheat bran, more than 98.6% and 98% of colour removal are obtained for Indigo and Congo red dyes, respectively. The detection of ligninolytic enzymes proved that laccase and lignine-peroxidase (LiP) are the two enzymes responsible of the decolourization of the two dyes.

An aerobic bioprocess was applied to Indigo dye-containing textile wastewater treatment aiming at the colour elimination and biodegradation. A combined aerobic system using continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR) and fixed film bioreactor (FFB) was continuously operated at constant temperature and fed with the textile wastewater (pH: 7.5 and total chemical oxygen demand (COD): 1185 mg l(-1)). The CSTR is a 1l continuous flow stirred tank reactor with a 700 ml working volume, and operated with a variable wastewater loading rate (WLR) from 0.92 to 3.7 g l(-1) d(-1). The FFB is a 1.5l continuous flow with three compartments packed with a rippled cylindrical polyethylene support, operated with a variable WLR between 0.09 and 0.73 g l(-1) d(-1). The combined two bioreactors were inoculated by an acclimated microbial consortium and continuously operated with four total WLR. This system presented high COD elimination and colour removal efficiencies of 97.5% and 97.3%, respectively, obtained with a total hydraulic retention time (HRT) of 4 days and total WLR of 0.29 g l(-1) d(-1). The effects of WLR on absorption phenomena on the yield of conversion of substrate on biomass (R(TSS/COD)) and on the yield of conversion of substrate on active biomass (R(VVS/COD)) are discussed. The increase of WLR and the decrease of HRT diminished the performances of this system in terms of decolourization and COD removal explained by the sloughing of biofilm, and the washout phenomena.
