The hydatid cyst of the liver is the most common location of hydatid disease. Complications in this form are dominated by superinfection of the cyst and rupture into the bile ducts or the peritoneal cavity. We report the case of a 54-year-old female patient with a hydatid cyst of the liver complicated by a rupture in the gallbladder revealed by urinary symptoms.

Prostatic abscess is a rare entity that occurs most frequently after the age of 50. The main risk factors are immunosuppressive conditions such as diabetes, HIV infection and chronic renal failure. It is clinically manifested by signs of bladder irritation. The management of the disease involves antibiotic therapy and drainage of the abscess, which can be performed by various invasive methods. We report the case of a 60-year-old patient with a large prostatic abscess drained by CT-guided percutaneous approach.

Retroperitoneal synovial sarcoma is extremely rare, with only a few cases reported in the literature. The diagnosis is often made late, due to anatomical considerations, with common symptoms including low back pain and weight loss. Imaging is critical for diagnosis, often revealing a heterogenous mass with the "triple sign" and calcifications. The main differential diagnoses include liposarcoma, undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma and leiomyosarcoma. Surgical resection remains the treatment of choice, though it is not always feasible, which contributes to the poor prognosis. Hemiazygos continuation of a left-sided inferior vena cava (IVC) is an extremely rare developmental anomaly. We present the case of a male patient in whom this condition was incidentally discovered during a thoraco-abdominopelvic CT scan. With the widespread use of contrast-enhanced computed tomography and magnetic resonance angiography, the detection of congenital IVC anomalies has become more accessible. These anomalies are often found incidentally during imaging performed for other clinical reasons. Zinner syndrome is a rare congenital malformation characterized by cystic seminal vesicles and ejaculatory duct obstruction in association with ipsilateral renal agenesis. It appears to be frequently linked to infertility. However, recent advances in imaging, notably MRI, have led to an increase in the diagnosis of this pathology. We describe the case of a 39-year-old patient receiving examination for primary infertility who was identified with Zinner syndrome using ultrasound, CT, and MRI; the patient did not report hemospermia, lower urinary tract symptoms, or perineal pain. Examining the abdomen and external genitalia revealed no abnormalities, and examining the rectal area revealed none at all. Gradenigo syndrome (GS) is characterized by a triad of clinical features: abducens nerve palsy, retro-orbital pain, and otorrhea, arising as a complication of suppurative otitis media. Herein, we present a case of GS in a 15-year-old male patient, secondary to left otitis media. The patient exhibited fever, otorrhea, accompanied by diplopia, retrobulbar pain, and headache. Imaging studies demonstrated petrous bone destruction and inflammatory changes with opacification of petrous bone, mastoid cells and surrounding structures, confirming the diagnosis of GS. Treatment included intravenous antibiotics and anticoagulants, resulting in the resolution of symptoms and radiological improvement. GS, though rare, warrants prompt recognition and appropriate management to prevent severe complications. Diagnostic imaging plays a crucial role in evaluation, and treatment often involves prolonged antibiotic therapy and, in severe cases, surgical intervention. Inferior vena cava IVC is a crucial route for catheter access (both directly to the right heart and indirectly through a transeptal puncture to the left heart, used in most electrophysiological procedures). However, interrupted IVC is a real challenge to traditional arrythmia ablation approaches, compromising in certain cases the success of the procedure. A well-developed azygos continuation offers an alternative pathway, bypassing the interrupted segment of the IVC. We report the case of a 60 years old female, who underwent catheter ablation of a counterclockwise flutter. During the procedure, she was discovered to have an uncommon anatomical venous pathway from femoral access to the right heart chambers. She was diagnosed to have an interruption of the supra-renal segment of the inferior vena cava with azygos continuation. Skull base osteomyelitis is a rare and serious condition that primarily affects immunocompromised individuals and can be life threatening if not treated promptly. It can have various origins, with the most common being an extension of necrotizing external otitis. It is difficult to diagnose due to a wide array of clinical presentations. Imaging plays an important role in the diagnosis, identification of the possible source of infection, the extent of the disease, the pattern of spread and identification of associated complications. Early diagnosis is crucial to promptly initiate appropriate treatment. Abdominal tuberculosis presents with nonspecific clinical and radiological features, often leading to diagnostic and therapeutic delays. Retroperitoneal pseudo-tumoral tuberculosis is a rare radio-clinical entity, characterized by its atypical and confusing symptomatology. We present the case of a 48-year-old male patient with no significant medical history, who was admitted to our department with a right retroperitoneal tumor presented as right renal colic due to compression of the lumbar ureter. Initially misdiagnosed as a gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) of the lower duodenal angle, the patient underwent duodenal wedge resection, right hemicolectomy, and resection of the right lumbar ureter. Pathological examination of the surgical specimen confirmed follicular tuberculosis. The patient was subsequently treated with antitubercular drugs for 6 months with a good follow-up. Retroperitoneal pseudo-tumoral tuberculosis exhibits a polymorphic and nonspecific clinical presentation in our setting, highlighting the importance of early endoscopic or image-guided biopsies to prevent unnecessary surgical interventions., (© 2024 The Authors. Foreign bodies may be ingested accidentally or intentionally. Generally, they pass through the digestive tract without causing complications unless they become lodged. Patients often present with nonspecific clinical symptoms, and diagnosis is frequently delayed because they do not recall ingesting anything. We report the case of a 20-year-old man who was admitted to the emergency room for acute moderate hematemesis. The patient had no significant medical history. An urgent, nonsedated upper gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy was performed, which revealed bleeding but no foreign objects. However, an abdominal CT scan identified a linear calcified object in the antrum, which was later confirmed to be a chicken bone upon endoscopic extraction. Ingested foreign bodies typically pass through the digestive tract without incident. However, long, sharp, and thin objects can remain in the gastrointestinal tract for 7-10 days and may become lodged in areas of physiological narrowing. Synovial hemangioma is a rare benign vascular malformation. We report a case of chronic swelling in the left knee of a 7-year-old boy. An intra-articular tumor of synovial origin could was detected after a magnetic resonance imaging scan. Surgical excision of the mass associated with partial synovectomy was carried out. A histologic examination confirmed the diagnosis of synovial hemangioma. After 36 months of follow-up, there was no sign of recurrence.
