Background: Sebaceous carcinoma is a rare cancer, and little is known about its current epidemiology and treatment. This is particularly true for sebaceous carcinomas of the trunk and extremities. Objective: We present a database analysis of sebaceous carcinoma cases to further delineate demographics, location, tumor characteristics, and treatment modalities among patients diagnosed with these tumors. Methods: The National Cancer Database was queried for cases of sebaceous carcinoma between 2004 and 2016. 3211 cases were analyzed for descriptive and comparative statistics. Results: Twenty-six percent of sebaceous carcinomas were found on the trunk and extremities. Abiotic stress, which includes salinity, drought, heat, and cold, as well as their many combinations, severely reduces crop productivity across the globe each year. Considering the intensified worldwide climatic changes, the effects of these conditions on plant productivity become increasingly more concerning. Sulfur is essential for several metabolic processes, including the organization and control of electron transport. Reductive assimilation and integration into cysteine and methionine, sulfate absorption, and reductive assimilation and integration are the key methods that oxidized and reduced forms of organically bound sulfur get to their different roles. Protective compounds with sulfur, such as glutathione, phytochelatins, S-rich proteins, and several secondary metabolites, are essential for plants to survive abiotic stress, such as dihydroasparagusic acid, hydrogen sulfide, etc. This thorough review covered the regulation of sulfur at the protein and gene transcription levels in response to abiotic stress.

Objective: We developed and evaluated a training program for Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs), female community health workers (CHWs) in India, on non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Methods: A 5-day training program, developed using government-approved manuals, was tested in a randomised controlled trial in the Tehri-Garhwal district. Quantitative comparisons were undertaken using Student's t-test and two-way ANOVA. ASHAs in the intervention group were asked questions about new skills learnt. Results: Thirty-six ASHAs (20 intervention, 16 controls) participated (response rate 75.0%). Mean pre-test knowledge score was 43.3/100 points (95% CI 36.7–49.9) for the intervention group and 44.4 (38.9–49.9) for controls. The rapid integration of generative AI (GenAI) into industries and society has prompted a re-evaluation of copyright and intellectual property rights (IPR) frameworks. GenAI's ability to produce original content using data from human-created sources raises critical ethical and legal concerns. Current copyright and IPR frameworks, designed around human authorship, are insufficient to address these challenges. This study, using a multi-perspective approach, explores GenAI's disruptive potential in replicating or transforming copyrighted materials, challenging established IPR norms. Findings highlight gaps in legislation and the opacity of GenAI platforms. To address these issues, this study presents a Dynamic Ethical Framework linked to a future global fair use policy, aiming to guide responsible GenAI development and use. By incorporating insights from domain experts, this study contextualizes emerging challenges and potential solutions within broader societal and technological trends. That said, this study calls for international collaboration and further research to reform IPR related laws and frameworks, ensuring they remain relevant and equitable in a GenAI-driven era.

Background: Defining lipid goals solely on low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) levels in Indian population may cause misclassification due to high prevalence of hypertriglyceridemia and small dense LDL-C particles. International guidelines now recommend Apoliporotein-B (Apo-B) and non-high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (non-HDL-C) levels as alternative targets. In this study, we used a cross-sectional representative population database to determine Apo-B and non-HDL-C cut-offs corresponding to identified LDL-C targets and compared them to international guidelines. Methods: A community-based survey carried out in urban Delhi and adjacent rural Ballabhgarh provided lipid values for 3047 individuals. The Spearman correlation coefficient was used to evaluate the degree of relationship between Apo-B and LDL-C and non-HDL-C. Cut-off values for Apo-B and non-HDL-C were established using receiver operator curve analysis correlating with guideline-recommended LDL-C targets. Results: Spearman's rank correlations between Apo-B and LDL-C (0.82) and non-HDL-C and LDL-C (0.93) were significant (p 150 mg/dl the corresponding Apo-B and non-HDL-C values were 85.1, 92.7, 103.5, 117.5 and 135 mg/dL and 124.5, 126.5, 147.5, 167.5 and 190.5 mg/L respectively. Conclusion: Based on this study we provide Apo-B and non-HDL cut-offs corresponding to target LDL-C values in Indian patients with and without high triglycerides. It is noted that in individuals with triglycerides ≥ 150 mg/dl, the Apo-B levels are much higher than the values recommended by guidelines.

Dye contamination in water sources has severe environmental and public health issues; therefore, it needs effective monitoring and remediation strategies. The aim of the study is to use machine learning techniques to develop predictive models that may be used to evaluate methylene blue dye degradation capacity in contaminated water. Ten different machine learning models, including AdaBoost, Bagging, CatBoost, Decision Tree, Extra Trees, Gradient Boosting, HistGradientBoosting, LightGBM, Random Forest, and XGBoost, were evaluated using CuWO₄@TiO₂ as a photocatalyst. The evaluation metrics such as R², MSE, RMSE, MAE, and MedAE were used to assess the performance of the models. Among all models, HistGradientBoosting had a very well-balanced performance. It reached a very high R² of 0.9998 on the training set and 0.9915 on the test set, coupled with low error metrics, showcasing its strong generalization capability. However, Gradient Boosting and CatBoost exhibited impressive predictive performance, while AdaBoost and Decision Tree models suffered from overfitting. The maximum prediction obtained in the case of the integral approach for MB dye degradation is 98.99 %. Experimental validation indicated that the effectiveness under optimized conditions reached 98.5 %. In the case of initial MB concentration at 10 mg/L, a dosage of CuWO4@TiO2 photocatalyst at 200.33 mg/L, light intensity at 150 mW/cm², contact time at 88.6 min at room temperature, and near-neutral pH 7.0. The final model metrics included an R² score of 0.9915, MedAE of 1.171, MSE of 5.634, MAE of 1.735, and RMSE of 2.374. This work points out the possibility of taking complete advantage of advanced machine learning algorithms along with metaheuristics optimization in improving photocatalytic processes, hence opening a bright avenue for real applications in water treatment.

Background: Vision related quality of life (VRQOL) measures one's satisfaction with their visual ability to perform daily activities. Aging leads to vision impairment that can negatively affect VRQOL and physical, psychological, and social well-being. Objective: To assess vision-related quality of life (VR-QOL) and its determinants among elderly residents from rural blocks of Haryana, India. Method: This cross-sectional study was performed across 52 Indian villages. The vision-related quality of life scores was assessed using National Eye Institute Vision Function Questionnaire-25(VFQ-25). Social Connectedness, Geriatric Depression Scale, Mini-Mental Status Examination, and the Katz Index of Independence were collected using validated tools. Continuous data was represented as Mean (±SD) or median (IQR) depending upon their distribution. Categorical data as frequency (%). Bivariate analysis was done using Student t-test or Rank Sum test for continuous variables (for up to 2 groups) and One-Way ANOVA was run for continuous variables (for more than 2 groups). Chi-Sq. test or Fisher's for categorical variables and multivariable linear regression model was run to calculate the determinants of the VFQ composite score. Result: Amongst the 420 participants, 58 % were females and 74 % were illiterates. The mean VR-QOL was 42.30 ± 11.19 in the study population. The study found higher VR-QOL scores in General Health, Distance activities, and Near activities, while lower scores were observed in Mental health, Dependency, Social functioning, Ocular pain, General vision, and Role difficulties. Both the mean VR-QOL composite score and the VR-QOL domains of General Health, General Vision, Ocular Pain, Role Difficulties, Mental Health, and Dependence were all greater for women than for men. Among the reported morbidities 26 % had hearing loss, 23 % were hypertensives, 9 % were diabetics, 85 % were dependent, 60 % had depression, 14 % had moderate dementia, 10 % had lower tendency to connect, 8 % had low vision and 35 % had vertigo. VFQ scores were lower among males, non-Hindus, hypertensives and among person with history of vertigo and those living in dim light than their counterparts. Conclusion: The current study shows that VR-QOL is significantly lower in male, participants with history of vertigo, hypertension, diabetes and who live in dim light. There is a need to develop strategies to address these determinants through multidisciplinary approach including chronic disease management and environmental modification and promote healthy aging of elderly population.

Summary: Several empirical and theoretical studies suggest the presence of multiple enhancers per gene that collectively regulate gene expression, and that common sequence variation impacting on the activities of these enhancers is a major source of inter-individual gene expression variability. However, for the vast majority of genes, enhancers and the underlying regulatory variation remains unknown. Even for the genes with well-characterized enhancers, the nature of the combined effects from multiple enhancers and their variants, when known, on gene expression regulation remains unexplored. Here, we have evaluated the combined effects from five SCN5A enhancers and their regulatory variants that are known to collectively correlate with SCN5A cardiac expression and underlie QT interval association in the general population. Using small deletions centered at the regulatory variants in episomal reporter assays in a mouse cardiomyocyte cell line, we demonstrate that the variants and their flanking sequences play critical role in individual enhancer activities, likely being a transcription factor (TF) binding site. By oligonucleotide-based pulldown assays on predicted TFs, we identify the TFs likely driving allele-specific enhancer activities. Using all 32 possible allelic synthetic constructs in reporter assays, representing the five bi-allelic enhancers, we demonstrate combined additive effects on overall enhancer activities. Using transient enhancer assays in zebrafish embryos we demonstrate that four elements act as enhancers in vivo. Together, these studies uncover the TFs driving the enhancer activities of QT interval associated SCN5A regulatory variants, reveal the additive effects from allelic combinations of these regulatory variants, and prove their potential to act as enhancers in vivo.

Lead (Pb) is known to cause neurological changes, but antioxidants, chelators, and anti-inflammatory agents mitigates Pb toxicity. Previously, we reported antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of 3-hydroxy-3′,4′,5′-trimethoxyflavone (HTMF) derived from Ocimum basilicum L. leaves. This research investigates the neuroprotective properties of HTMF against Pb induced neurotoxicity in rats. Rats were orally administered lead acetate (100 mg/kg) daily for 30 days to induce neurotoxicity, then treated with HTMF (5 and 10 mg/kg) 30 min after Pb exposure. Cognitive and motor functions and brain biochemical parameters were determined to understand HTMF’s mechanism of action. Pb exposure impaired cognition and motor skills, elevated Pb levels, TBARS, TNF-α, IL-6 and MAO A & B, and reduced GSH levels in the brain. HTMF treatment significantly improved memory, motor deficits, and metabolic abnormalities induced by Pb, attributed to its chelating, antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, and monoaminergic modulating properties, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic agent for metal-induced brain injuries.

The success of the sodic soil reclamation using elemental S (S°) depends on the population of the native S° oxidizers. Augmenting the native flora of the sodic soils with effective S° oxidizers can enhance the success of the sodic soil reclamation. Present study reports for the first time the S° oxidation potential of the Sphingomonas olei strain 20UP7 isolated from sodic soils with pHs 9.8 and ECe 3.6 dS m–1. Inoculation with S. olei strain 20UP7 caused 13.0–24.2 % increase in S° oxidation in different sodic soils (pHs 9.1–10.5). It improved the concentration of the Ca2+, Mg2+, PO43– and declined the HCO3– and total alkalinity of the soil solution. This isolate also showed appreciable P and Zn solubilization, indole acetic acid, ammonia, and titratable acidity production in the growth media. It tended to the formation of biofilm around sulphur particles. The PCR amplification with gene–specific primers showed the occurrence of soxA, soxB, and soxY genes with a single band corresponding to length of 850, 460, and 360 base pairs, respectively. The integration of the S. olei strain 20UP7 with S° caused 21.7–25.4 % increase in the rice and wheat yield compared to the soil treated with S° alone. This study concludes that the S. olei, native to high saline–sodic soils can be utilized for improving the sodicity reclamation and plant growth promotion using elemental S based formulations.

Objective: Sightly low serum free T4 levels are associated with longer life expectancy. However, hypothyroidism is associated with increased risk of inflammation and vascular complications. Therefore, relation of thyroid hormones (THs) with life expectancy seems to be complex. This study was carried out in an effort to understand the contribution of THs in inflammation and aging. Methodology: 15 cases of treatment naïve primary hypothyroidism and 15 age and sex matched euthyroid controls were recruited. mRNA expression of Telomerase (hTERT), leucocyte telomere length (LTL) and Lipoprotein associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2), a marker of vascular inflammation and risk predictor of cardiovascular events were measured by qPCR in whole blood. Result: Expression of hTERT was found to be 6.95 times higher in the cases as compared to the controls. mRNA expression of Lp-PLA(2) was also 3.3 times higher in cases. LTL in euthyroid was approximately 81% of the length in hypothyroid patients. Conclusion: A higher expression of hTERT indicates that hypothyroidism confers better cell survival in peripheral leucocytes inspite of the presence of vascular inflammation. However causal relationship cannot be ascertained with these results.

A cross-sectional study was done to assess the degree of current awareness and behaviors about cervical cancer among females in urban and rural areas of North India. This survey was conducted on one thousand females (500 rural and 500 urban). A well-structured questionnaire was designed to collect information about participants’ knowledge on cancer of cervix uteri such as age, height and weight measurements, marital status, menstrual status, personal hygiene, age at menarche, sexual history, pregnancy and abortion history, use of contraceptive pills for birth-control, smoking, alcohol consumption, and other relevant information. The data was collected by conducting face-to-face interviews after obtaining the verbal consent of the participants. The data has the potential to reduce disease burden by spreading awareness about symptoms and risk factors of cervical cancer as well as implementation of effective early screening strategies.

Calcineurin B-like (CBL)-interacting protein kinases (CIPKs) play a crucial role in the complex molecular systems of plants, acting as coordinators in different plant development processes, manage hormone signaling, and respond to environmental stress. Despite their well-established importance in various physiological process, the CIPK gene family in banana has remained an unexplored, creating a knowledge gap that this research aims to address. Through comprehensive analysis, we identified and characterized 34 CIPK genes in the banana genome. Structural diversity analysis revealed distinct clades characterized by homologs with varying intron-rich and intron-poor members. Particularly, evolutionary conservation was observed in intron-less members. Exploring conserved motifs and physicochemical properties provided insights into the detailed structure of specific homologs. Subcellular localization predictions indicated that most CIPK proteins primarily reside in the cytoplasm and nucleus, indicating their involvement in essential cellular activities. The predicted chromosomal distribution pattern suggests that the CIPK gene family largely expanded through segmental duplications in the banana genome. The phylogenetic analysis has uncovered two monophyletic clades for intron-less and intron-containing homologs, providing insights into two separate evolutionary history and expansion of the CIPK gene family. The clustering pattern in the phylogeny suggest that sequence of CIPKs members in the different genomes are largely conserved during course of evolution after evolution of higher plants. However, a few members having diverse sequences that these homologs are evolving with higher rate of evolution. Diverse physiological roles of banana CIPKs members are further supported by the presence of numerous cis-acting elements associated with growth, development, hormone responsiveness, and stress, with certain MaCIPK promoters exhibiting multiple hormone-sensitive elements. The protein-protein interaction network sheds light on the functional associations between MaCIPKs and MaCBLs, highlighting specific clusters of interactions. 3D protein structure predictions provide additional insights, revealing variations among the MaCIPK proteins. Real-time expression analysis across various tissues and developmental stages emphasizes the significant roles played by CIPKs in plant development. Under stress conditions, 16 in leaves and 22 in root MaCIPK gene transcript levels were up –regulated in response to drought and cold stress. These insights into the dynamic expression and functional roles of CIPK genes provide valuable information for understanding the mechanisms underlying banana's resilience to stress, with direct implications for the development of stress-resistant banana varieties. Overall this research offers promising prospects for enhancing global food security by ensuring the sustainability of banana production in the face of changing environmental conditions.

Summary: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is an emerging global health problem and a potential risk factor for metabolic diseases. The bidirectional interactions between liver and gut made dysbiotic gut microbiome one of the key risk factors for NAFLD. In this study, we reported an increased abundance of Collinsella aerofaciens in the gut of obese and NASH patients living in India. We isolated C. aerofaciens from the fecal samples of biopsy-proven NASH patients and observed that their genome is enriched with carbohydrate metabolism, fatty acid biosynthesis, and pro-inflammatory functions and have the potency to increase ethanol level in blood. An animal study indicated that mice supplemented with C. aerofaciens had increased levels of circulatory ethanol, high levels of hepatic hydroxyproline, triglyceride, and inflammation in the liver. The present findings indicate that perturbation in the gut microbiome composition is a key risk factor for NAFLD.

Summary: Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a global healthcare problem, causing respiratory illness in young children and elderly individuals. Our knowledge of the host pathways that define susceptibility to infection and disease severity are limited. Hypoxia inducible factors (HIFs) define metabolic responses to low oxygen and regulate inflammatory responses in the lower respiratory tract. We demonstrate a role for HIFs to suppress RSV entry and RNA replication. We show that hypoxia and HIF prolyl-hydroxylase inhibitors reduce the expression of the RSV entry receptor nucleolin and inhibit viral cell-cell fusion. We identify a HIF regulated microRNA, miR-494, that regulates nucleolin expression. In RSV-infected mice, treatment with the clinically approved HIF prolyl-hydroxylase inhibitor, Daprodustat, reduced the level of infectious virus and infiltrating monocytes and neutrophils in the lung. This study highlights a role for HIF-signalling to limit multiple aspects of RSV infection and associated inflammation and informs future therapeutic approaches for this respiratory pathogen.

The simultaneous occurrence of biotic and abiotic stresses affects the performance of the crops in salt–affected agroecologies. The plant–microbe interaction with effective rhizobacteria can effectively manage these stresses. This study characterized the biocontrol, plant growth promotion, and responsiveness of rhizobacteria in wheat under salt-affected soils. Out of the 184 rhizobacteria isolates, the 20 isolates showed 41–72% growth inhibition of fungal phytopathogens of seedling blight of wheat (Fusarium sp), head blight of wheat (Fusarium oxysporum), onion molds (Penicillium sp and Aspergillus sp), root rot of wheat (Rhizoctonia solani), ear rot of corn (Aspergillus sp.) and spot blotch of wheat (Bipolaris sorokininana). The potent three rhizobacterial isolates identified as close neighbours of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain TA124, B. subtilis strain SB67 and B. subtilis strain BJ171 caused 65.5–71.1% growth inhibition of B. sorokiniana. The extracellular organic acid, siderophore, and chitinase enzymes played a significant role in rhizobacterial performance for fungal growth inhibition; and P and Zn solubilization in growth media. The foliar spray of bioformulation aids 15–20% reduction in the B. sorokiniana disease severity. The rhizobacterial responsiveness to the dual inoculation through seed treatment and foliar spray was 12.6–51, 15.8–46.3, and 13.2–148.1% for grain yield, P uptake, and disease suppression, respectively. The changes caused by rhizobacterial bioformulation in soil (Olsen's–P and microbial biomass carbon) and plant (proline, malondialdehyde, peroxidase, and Na+/K+ratio) explained 85% variability in the yield, P nutrition, and disease severity. Therefore, native rhizobacteria with biocontrol and plant growth-promoting capabilities can be an effective option for managing multiple stresses of crops in salt–affected agroecologies.

Ocular thermal burns are medical emergencies that require immediate intervention before the standard management protocol, which involves obtaining a detailed history and performing an ophthalmic examination. In this case report, we report the clinical manifestations of ocular burns caused by molten iron and the steps taken for good clinical outcomes. The patient presented with an inferior epithelial defect and limbal and lower lid ischemia at four hours post-injury. Over the course of treatment, due to non-resolving epithelial defect and increased superior lid notching, amniotic membrane transplantation (AMT) and lid repair by pentagon wedge excision were performed. Following AMT, the corneal surface completely healed with residual opacity and neovascularization. Additionally, limbal ischemia was significantly reduced with the restoration of normal lid anatomy. Corneal burns initiate a cascade of inflammatory reactions disrupting the balance between pro- and anti-angiogenic factors, leading to corneal neovascularization. The eyelid damage can lead to necrosis of tissues with eschar formation and eventually quantitative tissue loss. Therefore, timely intervention is the key to the successful management of ocular burns.

We evaluated the effects of select herbal extracts (Tinospora cordifolia [TC], Tinospora cordifolia with Piper longum [TC + PL], Withania somnifera [WS], Glycyrrhiza glabra [GG], AYUSH–64 [AY-64], and Saroglitazar [S]) on various parameters in a diet-induced obesity mouse model. After 12 weeks of oral administration of the herbal extracts in high-fat diet (HFD)-fed C57BL/6J mice, we analyzed plasma biochemical parameters, insulin resistance (IR), liver histology, and the expression of inflammatory and fibrosis markers, along with hepatic lipidome. We also used a 3D hepatic spheroid model to assess their impact on profibrotic gene expression. Among the extracts, TC + PL showed a significant reduction in IR, liver weight, TNF-α, IL4, IL10 expression, and hepatic lipid levels (saturated triglycerides, ceramides, lysophosphocholines, acylcarnitines, diglycerides, and phosphatidylinositol levels). Saroglitazar reversed changes in body weight, IR, plasma triglycerides, glucose, insulin, and various hepatic lipid species (fatty acids, phospholipids, glycerophospholipids, sphingolipids, and triglycerides). With the exception of GG, Saroglitazar, and other extracts protected against palmitic acid-induced fibrosis marker gene expression in the 3D spheroids. TC + PL and Saroglitazar also effectively prevented HFD-induced insulin resistance, inflammation, and specific harmful lipid species in the liver.

Women and historically excluded minorities are underrepresented in clinical research. At the ASTRO 2021 annual meeting, the authors reviewed several strategies to improve on this issue. Implementation of such strategies should not only improve their visibility but also provide increased opportunities for their advancement and work in clinical research.

Mammary gland growth and differentiation predominantly rely on stromal-epithelial cellular communication. Specifically, mammary adipocytes play a crucial role in ductal morphogenesis, as well as in the proliferation and differentiation of mammary epithelial cells. The process of lactation entails a reduction in the levels of white adipose tissue associated with the MG, allowing for the expansion of milk-producing epithelial cells. Subsequently, during involution and the regression of the milk-producing unit, adipocyte layers resurface, occupying the vacated space. This dynamic phenomenon underscores the remarkable plasticity and expansion of adipose tissue. Traditionally considered terminally differentiated, adipocytes have recently been found to exhibit plasticity in certain contexts. Unraveling the significance of this cell type within the MG could pave the way for novel approaches to reduce the risk of breast cancer and enhance lactation performance. Moreover, a comprehensive understanding of adipocyte trans- and de-differentiation processes holds promise for the development of innovative therapeutic interventions targeting cancer, fibrosis, obesity, type 2 diabetes, and other related diseases. Additionally, adipocytes may find utility in the realm of regenerative medicine. This review article provides a comprehensive examination of recent advancements in our understanding of MG remodelling, with a specific focus on the tissue-specific functions of adipocytes and their role in the development of cancer. By synthesizing current knowledge in this field, it aims to consolidate our understanding of adipocyte biology within the context of mammary gland biology, thereby fostering further research and discovery in this vital area.

Summary: Background: While vaccines have established utility against COVID-19, phase 3 efficacy studies have generally not comprehensively evaluated protection provided by previous infection or hybrid immunity (previous infection plus vaccination). Individual patient data from US government-supported harmonized vaccine trials provide an unprecedented sample population to address this issue. We characterized the protective efficacy of previous SARS-CoV-2 infection and hybrid immunity against COVID-19 early in the pandemic over three-to six-month follow-up and compared with vaccine-associated protection. Methods: In this post-hoc cross-protocol analysis of the Moderna, AstraZeneca, Janssen, and Novavax COVID-19 vaccine clinical trials, we allocated participants into four groups based on previous-infection status at enrolment and treatment: no previous infection/placebo; previous infection/placebo; no previous infection/vaccine; and previous infection/vaccine. The main outcome was RT-PCR-confirmed COVID-19 >7–15 days (per original protocols) after final study injection. We calculated crude and adjusted efficacy measures. Findings: Previous infection/placebo participants had a 92% decreased risk of future COVID-19 compared to no previous infection/placebo participants (overall hazard ratio [HR] ratio: 0.08; 95% CI: 0.05–0.13). Among single-dose Janssen participants, hybrid immunity conferred greater protection than vaccine alone (HR: 0.03; 95% CI: 0.01–0.10). Too few infections were observed to draw statistical inferences comparing hybrid immunity to vaccine alone for other trials. Vaccination, previous infection, and hybrid immunity all provided near-complete protection against severe disease. Interpretation: Previous infection, any hybrid immunity, and two-dose vaccination all provided substantial protection against symptomatic and severe COVID-19 through the early Delta period. The relationship between brain functional connectivity and structural connectivity has caught extensive attention of the neuroscience community, commonly inferred using mathematical modeling. Among many modeling approaches, spectral graph model (SGM) is distinctive as it has a closed-form solution of the wide-band frequency spectra of brain oscillations, requiring only global biophysically interpretable parameters. While SGM is parsimonious in parameters, the determination of SGM parameters is non-trivial. Prior works on SGM determine the parameters through a computational intensive annealing algorithm, which only provides a point estimate with no confidence intervals for parameter estimates. To fill this gap, we incorporate the simulation-based inference (SBI) algorithm and develop a Bayesian procedure for inferring the posterior distribution of the SGM parameters. Furthermore, using SBI dramatically reduces the computational burden for inferring the SGM parameters. We evaluate the proposed SBI-SGM framework on the resting-state magnetoencephalography recordings from healthy subjects and show that the proposed procedure has similar performance to the annealing algorithm in recovering power spectra and the spatial distribution of the alpha frequency band. In addition, we also analyze the correlations among the parameters and their uncertainty with the posterior distribution which cannot be done with annealing inference. These analyses provide a richer understanding of the interactions among biophysical parameters of the SGM. In general, the use of simulation-based Bayesian inference enables robust and efficient computations of generative model parameter uncertainties and may pave the way for the use of generative models in clinical translation applications.

S100 proteins have emerged as key regulators in the mammary gland and have been implicated in breast cancer development and metastasis. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the roles of S100 proteins in mammary gland regulation and their impact on breast cancer progression. The mammary gland, a complex organ involved in lactation and tissue homeostasis, undergoes dynamic changes during different physiological stages. S100 proteins play crucial roles in mammary gland development, differentiation, and function, participating in cellular processes such as proliferation, migration, and apoptosis. However, dysregulation of S100 proteins can contribute to breast cancer initiation and metastasis. These proteins are involved in angiogenesis, invasion, migration, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition, promoting aggressive behavior in breast cancer cells. Understanding the intricate mechanisms by which S100 proteins exert their effects in the mammary gland and breast cancer is crucial for the development of targeted therapies and identification of diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers. Further research in this field will provide valuable insights and potential advancements in breast cancer management. This review highlights the significance of unraveling the role of S100 proteins in mammary gland regulation and their impact on breast cancer metastasis.

Covid-19 and the unprecedented surge in financial technology contributed to unexpected financial challenges, affecting the relevance of financial decision making and perceived financial well-being. This paper examines the mediating effects of digital financial literacy, financial autonomy, financial capability, and impulsivity on financial decision making and perceived financial well-being. The data come from 512 respondents in Delhi/NCR (National Capital Region), India, using a snowball-sampling technique and partial least squares structural equation modeling to test 13 structural hypotheses with SmartPLS3.3. Partial least squares (PLS) prediction is employed to estimate the out-of-sample predictive power of the proposed model. Our findings reveal that skills directly affect financial decision making and perceived financial well-being, and digital financial literacy emerges as a direct and mediating predictor of financial decision making. The dominance of financial capability and financial autonomy as mediators in financial decision making and financial well-being become more evident, and impulsivity fails to have mediating effects on financial decision making. The results have academic, regulatory, and managerial implications, all of which calls for more concerted efforts at recognizing the unique interaction among skills—financial decision making—perceived financial well-being, the cumulative effect of which enhances the critical ability to deal with environmental challenges, manage socioeconomic pressures in a sustainable manner, and translate the benefits into prudent gender-specific policy decisions and practices.

Background & Aims: Src homology and collagen (Shc) proteins are major adapters to extracellular signals, however, the regulatory role of Shc isoforms in sterile inflammatory responses in alcoholic hepatitis (AH) has not been fully investigated. We hypothesized that in an isoform-specific manner Shc modulates pre-apoptotic signals, calreticulin (CRT) membrane exposure, and recruitment of inflammatory cells. Methods: Liver biopsy samples from patients with AH vs healthy subjects were studied for Shc expression using DNA microarray data and immunohistochemistry. Shc knockdown (hypomorph) and age-matched wild-type mice were pair-fed according to the chronic-plus-binge alcohol diet. To analyze hepatocyte-specific effects, adeno-associated virus 8–thyroxine binding globulin–Cre (hepatocyte-specific Shc knockout)-mediated deletion was performed in flox/flox Shc mice. Lipid peroxidation, proinflammatory signals, redox radicals, reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide/oxidized nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide ratio, as well as cleaved caspase 8, B-cell–receptor–associated protein 31 (BAP31), Bcl-2–associated X protein (Bax), and Bcl-2 homologous antagonist killer (Bak), were assessed in vivo. CRT translocation was studied in ethanol-exposed p46ShcẟSH2-transfected hepatocytes by membrane biotinylation in conjunction with phosphorylated-eukaryotic initiation factor 2 alpha, BAP31, caspase 8, and Bax/Bak. The effects of idebenone, a novel Shc inhibitor, was studied in alcohol/pair-fed mice. Results: Shc was significantly induced in patients with AH (P < .01). Alanine aminotransferase, reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide/oxidized nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide ratios, production of redox radicals, and lipid peroxidation improved (P < .05), and interleukin 1β, monocyte chemoattractant protein 1, and C-X-C chemokine ligand 10 were reduced in Shc knockdown and hepatocyte-specific Shc knockout mice. In vivo, Shc-dependent induction, and, in hepatocytes, a p46Shc-dependent increase in pre-apoptotic proteins Bax/Bak, caspase 8, BAP31 cleavage, and membrane translocation of CRT/endoplasmic reticulum-resident protein 57 were seen. Idebenone protected against alcohol-mediated liver injury. Conclusions: Alcohol induces p46Shc-dependent activation of pre-apoptotic pathways and translocation of CRT to the membrane, where it acts as a damage-associated molecular pattern, instigating immunogenicity. Shc inhibition could be a novel treatment strategy in AH.

Introduction: Biologic aggressiveness of OSCC (Oral Cavity Squamous Cell Carcinoma), has intrigued research in various prognosticating histopathological markers over past few decades. DOI (Depth of Invasion) is one such histopathological factor which affects outcomes and was included in the AJCC 8th edition TNM staging. Pattern of Invasion (POI) has been widely reported as an adverse prognostic factor associated with higher locoregional failure and poor prognosis. However, these factors are not utilized for treatment decision making and for outcome assessment. Materials and methods: This is a retrospective analysis of 320 patients with OSCC who underwent treatment, from October 2018–February 2020. Clinic demographic details were extracted from electronic medical records. Univariate and multivariate analysis was done for the parameters. WPOI (Worst Pattern of Invasion) was correlated with all histopathological prognostic factors. Survival analysis was done using Kaplan Meier for WPOI type's I–V. DFS (Disease free Survival) was evaluated for different grades of WPOI. Results: We analyzed the results comparing, early and advanced T (Tumor) stages, cohesive WPOI I-III, non-cohesive WPOI IV-V. Univariate analysis showed a significant association of T-stage (p = 0.001), N (Nodal) -stage (p = 0.002), DOI (p = 0.008), PNI (Peri-neural invasion) (0.001) and Tumor differentiation Grade (p = 0.001). On multivariate analysis, non-cohesive WPOI (IV & V) showed significant association with grade, PNI, DOI (0.002, 0.033 & 0.033 respectively). Non-cohesive WPOI had significantly higher locoregional failures and short DFS. Conclusion: Presence of invasive WPOI is associated with advanced T stage, poor differentiation, PNI, greater depth of invasion, and higher chances of nodal metastasis. WPOI is associated with poor DFS, treatment intensification in early stage disease with WPOI type IV & V may improve survival.

Background and objectives: Several anthropometric measurements have been suggested to identify a potentially difficult airway. We studied thyromental height (TMH) as a predictor of difficult laryngoscopy and difficult intubation. We also compared TMH, ratio of height to thyromental distance (RHTMD), and thyromental distance (TMD) as predictors of difficult airway. Methods: This cross-sectional observational study was conducted in 300 adult surgical patients requiring tracheal intubation. Preoperatively airway characteristics were assessed. Standard anesthesia was administered. Degree of difficulty with mask ventilation, laryngoscopic view, duration of laryngoscopy, and difficulty in tracheal intubation (intubation difficulty scale score) were noted. Multivariate logistics regression analysis was performed to identify independent predictors for difficult laryngoscopy. Results: Laryngoscopy was difficult in 46 of 300 (15.3%) patients; all 46 patients had Cormack-Lehane grade 3 view. Duration of laryngoscopy was 27........11...s in patients with difficult laryngoscopy and 12.7........3.9...s in easy laryngoscopy; p...=...0.001. Multivariate analysis identified that TMH, presence of short neck, and history of snoring were independently associated with difficult laryngoscopy. Incidence of difficult intubation was 17.0%. A shorter TMH was associated with higher IDS scores; r...=...-0.16, p...=...0.001. TMH and duration of laryngoscopy were found to be negatively correlated; a shorter TMH was associated with a longer duration of laryngoscopy; r...=...-0.13, p...=...0.03. The cut-off threshold value for TMH in our study is 4.4 cm with a sensitivity of 66% and a specificity of 54%. Conclusion: Thyromental height predicts difficult laryngoscopy and difficult intubation.TMD and RHTMD did not prove to be useful as predictors of difficult airway.

In the present work, an experimental investigation is being carried out to increase the quality of fresh water produced by a tubular solar still connected to an electrical heater that is connected to a photovoltaic (PV) panel. With an effective evaporative area of 0.1425 m2, experiments were conducted and analysed for the climatic condition of Chennai, India. On the basis of the amount of fresh water generated by a tubular solar still without the use of an external heater, a comparative study is conducted. With the addition of electrical heater with the absorber, the average temperature of water is improved from 49 °C to 52 °C. The cumulative yield from TSS and TSS with external heater is found as 2.5 and 3.4 kg with a daily efficiency of 30.28 and 59.52% respectively. Results also revealed that the accumulated fresh water produced from the TSS with external heater is improved by 32.67% than TSS without additional heater.

Aim or Purpose: The “Value for Visits” approach, adapted from the Value Based Oral Health Care (VBOHC) Model was introduced by Monash Health Dental Services in 2020. The VBOHC model provides better oral health outcomes for MHDS‘ clients. The aim of this study was to assess the VBOHC model by reviewing and comparing courses of care outcomes before and after the model's implementation. Materials and Methods: All general courses of care (CoC) in 2019 and 2022 were audited, and a review of courses of care was conducted. The 2019 CoCs included solely patients whose treatment had begun prior to COVID-19 restrictions being imposed.Analysis involved investigating 10 CoCs for each clinician working at an MDHS dental clinic. The review did not include new staff (less than 3 months) or staff primarily working in the School Dental program. A thorough auditing was conducted into the ways in which general oral health care was provided to public patients. Results: In 2019 the total number of clients seen was 4240 with an average patient receiving 4.05 appointments over 6.37 months, and seeing 2.61 clinicians. In 2022, under the VBOHC model, the total number of clients seen was 5644. The average number of appointments to complete a CoC was 2.70 over 5.39 months. The number of clinicians seen was 1.10. Conclusions: Data showed that after implementation of the VBOHC model there was improvement in the efficiency of oral health care provision. Full implementation of the model would provide superior continuity of care, and overall better oral health outcomes for public dental patients.

Summary: Dominant-negative mutations can help to investigate the biological mechanisms and to understand the selective pressures for multifunctional proteins. However, most studies have focused on recessive mutant effects that occur in the absence of a second functional gene copy, which overlooks the fact that most eukaryotic genomes contain more than one copy of many genes. We have identified dominant effects on yeast growth rate among all possible point mutations in ubiquitin expressed alongside a wild-type allele. Our results reveal more than 400 dominant-negative mutations, indicating that dominant-negative effects make a sizable contribution to selection acting on ubiquitin. Cellular and biochemical analyses of individual ubiquitin variants show that dominant-negative effects are explained by varied accumulation of polyubiquitinated cellular proteins and/or defects in conjugation of ubiquitin variants to ubiquitin ligases. Our approach to identify dominant-negative mutations is general and can be applied to other proteins of interest.

Summary: Background: The phenotypical profile of cardiovascular malformations in patients with congenital rubella syndrome (CRS) is varied. We aimed to describe the profile of cardiac defects among CRS patients detected in the sentinel CRS surveillance in India during 2016–22. Methods: Sentinel sites enrolled infants with suspected CRS based on presence of cardiac defects, hearing impairment, eye signs, or maternal history of febrile rash illness. Suspected CRS cases underwent detailed systemic examination, including echocardiography and serological investigation for rubella. Cardiac defects were categorized as ‘Simple’ or ‘Complex’ as per the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute classification. We compared the distribution of cardiac defects among laboratory confirmed CRS cases and seronegative discarded cases. Findings: Of the 4578 suspected CRS cases enrolled by 14 sites, 558 (12.2%) were laboratory confirmed. 419 (75.1%) laboratory confirmed cases had structural heart defects (simple defects: n = 273, 65.2%, complex defects: n = 144, 34.4%), with ventricular septal defect (42.7%), atrial septal defect (39.4%), patent ductus arteriosus (36.5%), and tetralogy of Fallot as the commonest defects (4.5%). Laboratory confirmed CRS cases had higher odds of left to right shunt lesions (OR = 1.58, 95% CI: 1.15–2.17). This was mainly on account of a significant association of PDA with CRS (OR = 1.77, 95% CI: 1.42–2.21). Mortality was higher among CRS patients with complex heart defects (HR = 2.04, 95% CI: 1.26–3.30). Interpretation: Three-fourths of the laboratory confirmed CRS cases had structural heart defects. CRS patients with complex cardiac defects had higher mortality. Detecting CRS infection early and providing timely intervention for cardiovascular defects is critical for the management of CRS patients. Summary: A sustainable synthesis of interesting glycine betaine derivatives from cyclic 3°-amines viz. N-methyl morpholine (NMM), N-methyl piperidine (NMP), and 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO) with numerous aryl diazoacetates 1 in water and under blue LED is reported. Generally, 3°-amines and metal carbenoids (from diazoacetates with transition metal catalysts) provide C-H insertion at the α-position of the amines. Computational comparison of the metal carbenoid with the singlet carbene (metal free and generated under blue LED) realized the difference in reactivity. The thiosemicarbazones and their derivatives have been recognized as antimicrobial agents against human pathogenic bacteria and fungi. Regarding these prospective, this study was designed to address the new antimicrobial agents from thiosemicarbazones and their derivatives. These derivatives were synthesized by multi-step synthesis methods, such as alkylation, acidification, esterification, and formed the 4-(4′-alkoxybenzoyloxy) thiosemicarbazones and its derivatives (THS1, THS2, THS3, THS4, and THS5). Afterward the synthesis, compounds were characterized by 1H NMR, FTIR spectra, and melting point. Later, the computational tools were applied to evaluate the drug likeness properties, bioavailability score, Lipinski rule, absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity (ADMET). Secondly, the quantum calculations, for instance HOMO, LUMO and chemical descriptors, were calculated by the density functional theory (DFT). Finally, the molecular docking was performed against seven human pathogenic bacteria, black fungus (Rhizomucor mieh, Mucor lusitanicus, Mycolicibacterium smegmatis) and white fungus strains (Candida Auris, Aspergillus luchuensis, Candida albicans). To check and validate of molecular docking procedure and stability of docked complex for ligand and protein, the molecular dynamic was performed of docked complex. From the docking score with calculating the binding affinity, these derivatives could show a higher affinity than standard drug against all pathogens. From the computational details, it could be decided to do in-vitro test as antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aurious, Staphylococcus homonis, Salmonella typhi, and Shigella flexneria. The obtained result of antibacterial activity compared to standard drugs, and it was found that the synthesized compounds were almost same value of standard drug. Finally, it could be said from the in-vitro and in-silico study that the thiosemicarbazones derivatives are good antimicrobial agents.

In most of the countries, grapes are considered as a cash crop. Currently huge research is going on in development of automated grape harvesting systems. Speedy and reliable grape bunch detection is prime need for various deep learning based automated systems which deals with object detection and object segmentation tasks. But currently very few datasets are available on grape bunches in vineyard, because of which there is restriction to the research in this area. In comparison to the vineyard in outside countries, Indian vineyard structure is more complex, so it becomes hard to work in real-time. To overcome these problems and to make vineyard dataset for suitable for Indian vineyard scenarios, this paper proposed four different datasets on grape bunches in vineyard. For creating all datasets in GrapesNet, natural environmental conditions have been considered. GrapesNet includes total 11000+ images of grape bunches. Necessary data for weight prediction of grape cluster is also provided with dataset like height, width and real weight of cluster present in image. Proposed datasets can be used for prime tasks like grape bunch detection, grape bunch segmentation, and grape bunch weight estimation etc. of future generation automated vineyard harvesting technologies.

Background: In India, facility-based surveillance for congenital rubella syndrome (CRS) was initiated in 2016 to estimate the burden and monitor the progress made in rubella control. We analyzed the surveillance data for 2016–2021 from 14 sentinel sites to describe the epidemiology of CRS. Method: We analyzed the surveillance data to describe the distribution of suspected and laboratory confirmed CRS patients by time, place and person characteristics. We compared clinical signs of laboratory confirmed CRS and discarded case-patients to find independent predictors of CRS using logistic regression analysis and developed a risk prediction model. Results: During 2016–21, surveillance sites enrolled 3940 suspected CRS case-patients (Age 3.5 months, SD: 3.5). About one-fifth (n = 813, 20.6%) were enrolled during newborn examination. Of the suspected CRS patients, 493 (12.5%) had laboratory evidence of rubella infection. The proportion of laboratory confirmed CRS cases declined from 26% in 2017 to 8.7% in 2021. Laboratory confirmed patients had higher odds of having hearing impairment (Odds ratio [OR] = 9.5, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 5.6–16.2), cataract (OR = 7.8, 95% CI: 5.4–11.2), pigmentary retinopathy (OR = 6.7, 95 CI: 3.3–13.6), structural heart defect with hearing impairment (OR = 3.8, 95% CI: 1.2–12.2) and glaucoma (OR = 3.1, 95% CI: 1.2–8.1). Nomogram, along with a web version, was developed. Conclusions: Rubella continues to be a significant public health issue in India. The declining trend of test positivity among suspected CRS case-patients needs to be monitored through continued surveillance in these sentinel sites.

Objective: To study the efficacy of estradiol for cycle programming in oocyte donors when administered in the follicular phase only. Design: Prospective interventional study. Setting: Single fertility center. Patient(s): Ninety-three oocyte donors underwent programmed stimulation using estradiol in the follicular phase. Their previous unprogrammed cycles were used as historical controls. Intervention(s): Donors received 8 mg of estradiol hemihydrate from day 2 till 1 day before the start of stimulation. Main Outcome Measure(s): The primary outcome measures studied were the number of oocytes retrieved, duration of stimulation, and total gonadotropin dose. The number of mature oocytes, oocyte maturation rate, fertilization rate, blastulation rate, implantation rate, and pregnancy rate were the secondary outcomes. Result(s): The average number of oocytes retrieved was higher in the study group (36.4 vs. 32.5). The duration of stimulation (9.22 vs. 9.21 days) and the total gonadotropin dose were similar (3,085.5 vs. 3,026 IU) between both groups. The mean number of mature oocytes retrieved was higher in the study group (30.1 vs. 26.3), but the maturation rate was similar (84.6% vs. 81.2%). The fertilization rate (77.8% vs. 78.7%), number of blastocysts, blastulation rate (32.7% vs. 33.2%), implantation rate (59.3% vs. 66.3%), and pregnancy rate (77.3% vs. 77.1%) showed no statistically significant difference. Conclusion(s): Estradiol usage in the follicular phase alone is an effective and convenient option for cycle programming in oocyte donors. It can yield similar mature oocytes and does not affect the clinical outcomes. Further larger sample-sized studies may be needed to validate its use which can also be extended to routine in vitro fertilization cycles. Clinical Trials Registration Number: CTRI/2020/09/027815.

Distributed database systems are gaining importance due to the production in massive amount of data. The efficacy of such systems is highly dependent upon the design of the system. To increase the effectiveness and efficiency of distributed databases, two processes are mainly employed i.e. fragmentation and allocation. Fragmentations can be vertical or horizontal. This work focuses on vertical fragmentation design methods. In this paper, a novel differential bond energy (DBE) algorithm is proposed with objective to determine optimal partition point. The performance of proposed algorithm is compared with classical bond energy algorithm (BEA) on basis of global affinity measure (GAM) value. Results are depicted in form of line graphs. The mean difference in GAM values for both algorithms are also illustrated. The experimental results portrays that DBE is suitable for vertical fragmentation of high dimensional problems as it attain high GAM value as compared to BEA on various datasets.

Background and Aims: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), inclusive of ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease, are chronic inflammatory conditions that impact women of childbearing age. It has been previously shown that IBD is associated with altered metabolomic profiles, but whether metabolomic changes also affect pregnant patients with IBD is completely unknown. Methods: This was a prospective cohort study comprised of 48 pregnant women with IBD who were followed throughout preconception and pregnancy. IBD disease activity was measured using biochemical markers C-reactive protein or fecal calprotectin using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and clinical disease activity using Harvey-Bradshaw Index or partial Mayo scores. Serum and urine samples were collected from preconception, trimester 1, and trimester 2 and analyzed using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy combined with metabolomics set enrichment analysis. Results: We identified a total of 24 urine metabolites and 17 serum metabolites which were altered by active disease across pregnancy. First trimester (T1) active disease-associated metabolites were enriched in “amino acid metabolism” and “fatty-acid β-oxidation.” The leading urine metabolites at T1 were trimethyl-N-oxide (TMAO), succinic acid, and 3-hydroxy-2-methylbutyric acid, and leading serum metabolites were TMAO, glucose, and acetic acid. Multivariate modeling using serum TMAO, glucose, and acetic acid predicts T1 disease activity and correlated with mode of delivery and infant weights at delivery. Moreover, cross–time point modeling using metabolomes predicted future disease flare-up during pregnancy. Conclusion: These results suggest select host metabolites may be able to discriminate and predict disease activity and are correlated with pregnancy outcomes at delivery. This warrants further validation of metabolomics to monitor IBD in pregnancy.

In the last decade, neural networks and deep learning techniques are widely adopted in the field of medical imaging for image detection, classification, and segmentation tasks and has achieved exceptional results. Deep models have immensely contributed in this sector thus making it easier for quick diagnosis, early and effective treatment. X-Rays are most commonly used radiological medical imaging tool and radiologists. Medical practitioners face huge difficulty to classify and segment different organs by looking at the chest X-Rays for the possible detection of any abnormalities in thoracic cavity which includes lungs, heart, diaphragm, sternum, and clavicles. Specifically, we presented a modified U-Net architecture for the semantic segmentation of lungs from the chest X-Rays images. The proposed model is lighter counterpart of U-Net architecture consisting multiple dropouts in all the deconvolutional layers, this efficiently resolving the problem of overfitting and outperforms the original U-Net model. The light weight proposed architecture outperforms on the combination of three different datasets by producing 92.71% training accuracy and a marvelous generalization accuracy of 93.87% with Adam optimizer and underlying loss function is Dice coefficient. The clubbed dataset comprised of over 900 chest X-Rays images along with corresponding truth segmentation masks provided by the professionals. Conclusively, we offer improved performance, better model generalization with relatively lighter model for the semantic segmentation of lungs from the chest X-Rays images.

Purpose: An initiative to advocate for those underrepresented in radiation oncology. Methods and Materials: Inspired by the success of the #ILookLikeAnEngineer and #ILookLikeASurgeon campaigns, this initiative aimed to break down stereotypes in traditionally male-dominated fields. In honor of Marie Curie's birthday, on November 7, 2018, the Society for Women in Radiation Oncology launched a social media campaign called #WomenWhoCurie day. However, as the popularity of the social media campaign increased, it become evident that members of the wider radiation community, in particular women of color, nonbinary and transgender people did not feel supported by the #WomenWhoCurie movement. In November 2021, after consultation with diversity and inclusion leaders and members of other national radiation oncology organizations, Society for Women in Radiation Oncology launched #WeWhoCurie alongside the #WomenWhoCurie campaign for women and gender minorities in radiation oncology. Radiation oncologists, physicists, dosimetrist, therapists, nurses, and other professionals from around the world gathered and shared photos and social media posts throughout the day on multiple platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Results: In the year #WeWhoCurie, #WomenWhoCurie, #_______ WhoCurie campaign launched, we saw an increase in participation across the globe from 9 countries: the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Italy, Spain, China, New Zealand, and Australia. There were over 720 tweets contributing to the campaign with over 2000 messages, representing 3,365,444 “potential impacts”, or the number of times someone saw the hashtag. Conclusions: Through this campaign we aim to celebrate the incredible women, gender minorities, and allies who are “Curie-ing” patients with cancer and conducting cutting edge research to improve cancer care across the globe. As an organization we believe adding our voices to the masses will foster a culture of inclusion for everyone. Afterall, what good is the practice of radiation oncology if all are not equally welcome?

Study objective: We sought to evaluate the sex-based disparities and comparative in-hospital outcomes of principal AF hospitalizations in patients with and without dementia, which have not been well-studied. Design: This is a non-interventional retrospective cohort study. Setting and participants: We identified principal hospitalizations of AF in the National Inpatient Sample in adults (≥18 years old) between January 2016 and December 2019. Main outcome measure: In-hospital mortality. Results: Of 378,230 hospitalized patients with AF, 49.2 % (n = 186,039) were females and 6.1 % (n = 22,904) had dementia. Adding to the behavioural science domain, the principal idea behind the study is to investigate the impact of an array of behavioural, psychological, and demographic factors on financial decision making. The study utilizes a structured questionnaire to collect the opinions of 634 investors using a blend of random and snowball sampling techniques. The partial least squares structural equation modelling has been used to test hypotheses. PLS Predict has been applied to estimate the out-of-sample predictive power of the proposed model. Finally, the multi-group analysis has been applied to assess the differences across gender. Our findings attest the relevance of digital financial literacy, financial capability, financial autonomy, and impulsivity on financial decision making. Additionally, financial capability partially mediates the nexus between digital financial literacy and financial decision making. Also, Impulsivity negatively moderates the relationship between financial capability and financial decision making. The overall results of this comprehensive and unique study portray the influence that various psychological, behavioural, and demographic factors have on financial decision making, favouring the design of a feasible and lucrative financial portfolio to ensure financial well-being of households in the long run.
