Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of prefabricated auxiliary devices (PADs) in different optical properties and shapes on the accuracy of digital implant impressions., Methods: An edentulous maxillary all-on-4 master model was fabricated. PADs were 3D-printed in different resin materials (Grey, Translucent, White, Yellow) and shapes (Cuboid, Cylinder, Sphere) using a 3D printer (AccuFab-C1s, 3DShining, Hangzhou, China). The master model was digitalized using a dental laboratory scanner (D2000, 3Shape, Copenhagen, Denmark) 4 times as the reference models. Test models were obtained without (control group) or with PADs by an intraoral scanner (Aoralscan 3, Shining3D, Hangzhou, China) for ten repetitions of each group using the scanning pattern recommended by the manufacturer. The related files were imported into inspection software to assess Root Mean Square (RMS), linear and angular accuracy. Aligned Ranks Transformation ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney tests were used to evaluate the differences in these values. The level of significance was set at α=0.05., Results: PADs in different optical properties and shapes demonstrated accuracy enhancement to different extents depending on their combinations. The PADs in combinations of white-cuboid, grey-sphere and yellow-sphere demonstrated the optimal trueness enhancement. The Aligned Ranks Transformation ANOVA indicated that the optical properties of the PADs significantly influenced the RMS, linear and angular accuracy. The main effect of optical properties indicated that translucent PADs generally generated more deviations than the others. The shapes of the PADs significantly influenced the angular accuracy. The main effect of shapes indicated that cylinder resulted in lower angular trueness on YZ plane than cuboid (p = 0.006) and sphere (p < 0.001)., Conclusion: The optical properties and shapes of the PADs significantly influenced the scanning accuracy. Translucent PADs demonstrated more deviations than the others. Lower angular trueness on the YZ plane was seen in cylinder design compared to the others., Clinical Significance: The optical properties and shapes of prefabricated auxiliary devices should be critically considered to optimize the scanning accuracy. Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether the preservation of the anterior edge of the vertebral body affects the cage subsidence and clinical outcomes after anterior cervical discectomy and fusion(ACDF)using zero-profile cages., Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 86 patients who underwent 1-3 levels of ACDF using zero-profile cages between December 2017 and June 2023. According to whether the anterior edge was protected, the patients were divided into an intact group and a defect group. Cage subsidence was defined as a ≥2 mm decrease in vertebral height at follow-up compared with measurement on postoperative day 2. The patients' radiological parameters and clinical outcomes were also analyzed., Results: The subsidence rate was 17.02% (8/47) in the intact group and 41.03% (16/39) in the defect group(P=0.014). At the last follow-up, all patients in both groups achieved complete intervertebral fusion. The cervical lordosis of the two groups was effectively restored after surgery, and the VAS and NDI scores of the two groups were significantly improved. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the protective factor for zero-profile cage subsidence was bone protection at the anterior edge of the vertebral body (OR=0.270,95%CI=0.091-0.804), and the risk factor was related to the height of the preoperative surgical segment (OR=2.285, 95%CI =1.395-3.743)., Conclusion: For patients who undergo ACDF with zero-profile cages, especially those with a higher surgical segment, bone protection at the anterior edge of the vertebral body can effectively reduce the risk of zero-profile cage subsidence, but there is no difference in the final clinical effect., (Copyright © 2024 The Author(s). Char materials (e.g., hydrochar) can enhance carbon sequestration, improve soil quality and modulate soil microbial communities to recuperate soil health. However, little is known about the soil organic carbon (SOC) content, as well as the microbial communities and co-occurrence networks in response to hydrochar amendment in an inshore saline soil. Here, the effect of Sesbania cannabina (a halophyte) straw derived hydrochar (SHC) amendment on SOC and labile organic carbon (LOC) fractions and the potential associations among SOC content change, soil C-cycling enzyme activities and microbial communities were illustrated using a pot experiment. SHC effectively improved the contents of SOC and LOC, particularly particulate organic carbon (POC), and stimulated the activities of C-cycling enzymes. Furthermore, SHC induced shift in microbial community compositions and co-occurrence networks, result in decrease in relative abundance of Actinobacteriota and its corresponding ecological cluster, which may favor SOC accumulation. Functional annotation of prokaryotic taxa (FAPROTAX) analysis also revealed a decrease in microbial ecological function related to carbon degradation. Background: Currently, there remains ongoing controversy about the selection of postoperative antiviral drugs for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients with concurrent metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection (HPMH) who underwent hepatectomy., Method: A multivariate Cox proportional hazards model and a propensity score matching (PSM) analysis were implemented to ensure equal baseline characteristics. The Kaplan‒Meier survival curves were employed for prognosis comparison between the two groups., Results: This study included 225 HPMH who all received post-hepatectomy antiviral therapy; with 107 in the tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) group and 118 in the entecavir (ETV) group. In the entire cohort, according to the multivariate analysis, patients in the TDF group showed better recurrence-free survival (RFS) (HR = 0.78; 95% CI, 0.55-0.95; p = 0.030) and overall survival (OS) (HR = 0.52; 95% CI, 0.30-0.97; p = 0.021) than those in the ETV group. After executing a PSM analysis, Kaplan‒Meier survival curve analysis disclosed significant differences for both RFS and OS between the two groups (p = 0.03 and p = 0.01, respectively)., Conclusions: In summary, our study suggests a more significant association of TDF in improving RFS and OS than ETV in HPMH who underwent hepatectomy through multivariate and PSM analysis. Background: There are limited data depicting the prevalence and ramifications of acute limb ischemia (ALI) among cardiogenic shock (CS) patients., Methods: We employed data from the Cardiogenic Shock Working Group (CSWG), a consortium including 33 sites. We constructed a multi-variable logistic regression to examine the association between clinical factors and ALI, we generated another logistic regression model to ascertain the association of ALI with mortality., Results: There were 7,070 patients with CS and 399 (5.6%) developed ALI. Patients with ALI were more likely to be female (40.4% vs 29.4%) and have peripheral arterial disease (13.8% vs 8.3%). Stratified by maximum society for cardiovascular angiography & intervention (SCAI) shock stage, the rates of ALI were stage B 0.0%, stage C 1.8%, stage D 4.1%, and stage E 10.3%. Factors associated with higher risk for ALI included: peripheral vascular disease OR 2.24 (95% CI: 1.53-3.23; p < 0.01) and ≥2 mechanical circulatory support (MCS) devices OR 1.66 (95% CI: 1.24-2.21, p < 0.01). ALI was highest for venous-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) patients (11.6%) or VA-ECMO+ intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP)/Impella CP (16.6%) yet use of distal perfusion catheters was less than 50%. Mortality was 38.0% for CS patients without ALI but 57.4% for CS patients with ALI. ALI was significantly associated with mortality, adjusted OR 1.40 (95% CI 1.01-1.95, p < 0.01)., Conclusions: The rate of ALI was 6% among CS patients. Factors most associated with ALI include peripheral vascular disease and multiple MCS devices. Excess phosphorus (P) in wastewater has potential risk of causing harmful algal bloom and eutrophication in receiving wastewater. In this study, alginate-like extracellular polymers (ALE) derived from conventional activated sludge were modified with ionic cross-linking agents (Fe 3+ , Ca 2+ , and Mg 2+ ) to develop Fe-ALE and FeCaMg-ALE for the adsorption of phosphate from wastewater. The adsorption process of phosphate by Fe-ALE and FeCaMg-ALE can be well described by pseudo-second-order kinetics and Freundlich isotherm model with a high level of accuracy, indicating that the adsorption processes were chemical, multi-layer adsorption process. The maximum adsorption capacity of dry Fe-ALE and FeCaMg-ALE concerning phosphate were 15.06 and 20.10 mg/g, respectively at 298 K. The adsorption capacity remained relatively consistent across a pH range of 2.0-11.0. FT-IR, XRD, SEM coupled with XPS analysis demonstrated the ALE had been successfully compounded with Fe 3+ or Fe 3+ /Ca 2+ /Mg 2+ . Based on the experimental results and characteristic analysis, the main mechanism of phosphate by Fe-ALE and FeCaMg-ALE are physical filling, electrostatic attraction, ligand exchange and precipitation reaction. Artificial reefs (ARs) are widespread globally and play a positive role in enhancing fish communities and restoring habitat. However, the effect of ARs on phytoplankton, which are fundamental to the marine food chain, remains inconclusive. Conducting a literature review and meta-analysis, this study investigates how ARs influence phytoplankton community dynamics by comparing the biomass, density, and diversity of phytoplankton between ARs and natural water bodies across varying deployment durations, constituent materials, and climatic zones. The study findings suggest that, overall, ARs enhance the biomass, density, and diversity of phytoplankton communities, with no significant differences observed compared to natural water bodies. The enhancement effect of ARs on phytoplankton communities becomes progressively more pronounced with increasing deployment time, with the overall status of phytoplankton communities being optimal when artificial reefs are deployed for 5 years or longer. Concrete and stone ARs can significantly enhance the biomass and diversity of phytoplankton, respectively. The effect of ARs on phytoplankton diversity is unrelated to climatic zones. However, deploying ARs in temperate waters significantly enhances phytoplankton biomass, while in tropical waters, it significantly reduces phytoplankton density. The research findings provide practical implications for the formulation of artificial reef construction strategies tailored to the characteristics of different aquatic ecosystems, emphasizing the need for long-term deployment and appropriate material selection. Offshore waters have a high incidence of oil pollution, which poses an elevated risk of ecological damage. The microbial community composition and metabolic mechanisms influenced by petroleum hydrocarbons vary across different marine regions. However, research on metabolic strategies for in-situ petroleum degradation and pollution adaptation remains in its nascent stages. This study combines metagenomic techniques with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis. The data show that the genera Pseudoalteromonas, Hellea, Lentisphaera, and Polaribacter exhibit significant oil-degradation capacity, and that the exertion of their degradation capacity is correlated with nutrient and oil pollution stimuli. Furthermore, tmoA, badA, phdF, nahAc, and fadA were found to be the key genes involved in the degradation of benzene, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and their intermediates. Key genes (INSR, SLC2A1, and ORC1) regulate microbial adaptation to oil-contaminated seawater, activating oil degradation processes. This process enhances the biological activity of microbial communities and accounts for the geographical variation in their compositional structure. Background: The Impella 5.0 and 5.5 pumps (Abiomed, Danvers, MA) are large-bore transvalvular micro-axial assist devices used in cardiogenic shock (CS) for patients requiring high-capacity flow. Despite their increasing use, real-world data regarding indications, rates of utilization and clinical outcomes with this therapy are limited. The objective of our study was to examine clinical profiles and outcomes of patients in a contemporary, real-world CS registry of patients who received an Impella 5.0/5.5 alone or in combination with other temporary mechanical circulatory support (tMCS) devices., Methods: The CS Working Group (CSWG) Registry includes patients from 34 US hospitals. For this analysis, data from patients who received an Impella 5.0/5.5 between 2020-2023 were analyzed. Use of Impella 5.0/5.5 with or without additional tMCS therapies, duration of support, adverse events and outcomes at hospital discharge were studied. Adverse events including stroke, limb ischemia, bleeding and hemolysis were not standardized by the registry but reported per individual CSWG Primary Investigator discretion. For those who survived, rates of native heart recovery (NHR) or heart replacement therapy (HRT) including heart transplant (HT), or durable ventricular assist device (VAD) were recorded. We also assessed outcomes based on shock etiology (acute myocardial infarction or MI-CS vs. heart failure-related CS or HF-CS)., Results: Among 6,205 patients, 754 received an Impella 5.0/5.5 (12.1%), including 210 MI-CS (27.8%) and 484 HF-CS (64.1%) patients. Impella 5.0/5.5 was used as the sole tMCS device in 32% of patients, while 68% of patients received a combination of tMCS devices. Impella cannulation sites were available for 524/754 (69.4%) of patients, with 93.5% axillary configuration. Survival to hospital discharge for those supported with an Impella 5.0/5.5 was 67%, with 20.4% NHR and 45.5% HRT. Compared to HF-CS, patients with MI-CS supported on Impella 5.0/5.5 had higher in-hospital mortality (45.2% vs 26.2%, p < 0.001) and were less likely to receive HRT (22.4% vs 56.6%, p < 0.001. For patients receiving a combination of tMCS during hospitalization, this was associated with higher rates of limb ischemia (9% vs. 3%, p < 0.01), bleeding (52% vs 33%, p < 0.01), and mortality (38% vs 25%; p < 0.001) compared to Impella 5.0/5.5 alone. Among Impella 5.0/5.5 recipients, the median duration of pump support was 12.9 days (IQR: 6.8-22.9) and longer in patients bridged to HRT (14 days; IQR: 7.7-28.4)., Conclusions: In this multi-center cohort of patients with CS, use of Impella 5.0/5.5 was associated with an overall survival of 67.1% and high rates of HRT. Lower adverse event rates were observed when Impella 5.0/5.5 was the sole support device used. Salinization and sodication have become an important abiotic stress affecting soil fertility and crop production in the western of the Songnen Plain in Northeast China. And rice cultivation is considered as one of the most effective biological methods to reclaim saline-sodic soils and ensure food security. However, it is difficult to select the optimal measures to regulate rice growth for increasing yield, because the independent and comprehensive influences of the soil limitation factors on rice yield are not quantitatively evaluated. In this study, the hierarchical partitioning (HP) and the structural equation model (SEM) were used to quantitatively evaluate the influences of salinization parameters, salt ion concentrations and soil nutrients to identify the dominant limitation factors and obstacle mechanism for rice yield. The results showed that soil pH was the key index in salinization parameters, [CO 3 2-  + HCO 3 - ] was the key index in salt ion concentrations and available nitrogen (AN) was the key index in soil nutrients to impact rice yield, which independent influences reached 53.7 %, 45.4 % (negative) and 53.2 % (positive), respectively. Soil pH was determined by [CO 3 2-  + HCO 3 - ], and the negative effect of alkali stress on rice yield mainly caused by [CO 3 2-  + HCO 3 - ] was greater than that of salt stress mainly caused by [Na + ] in saline-sodic paddy fields. Among the soil chemical factors, soil pH and AN were the most important explanatory variables of rice yield in saline-sodic paddy fields, which standardized total effects were - 0.32 and 0.40, respectively. Furthermore, the AN showed a more significant negative correlation with soil pH and a higher yield-increasing potential in severe saline-sodic soils (9 ≤ pH < 10) than that in moderate saline-sodic soils (8 ≤ pH < 9). The photoexcited dissolved organic matter (DOM) could produce reactive intermediates, affecting chemical oxidant transformation in UV based advanced oxidation processes (AOPs). This study confirmed the critical role of triplet state DOM ( 3 DOM*), generated from DOM photoexcitation, in the transformation of monochloramine (NH 2 Cl), a commonly used chemical oxidant and disinfectant in water treatment. NH 2 Cl (42.25 μM, as Cl 2 ) was decayed by 17.4-73.4 % within 60 min, primarily due to 3 DOM* , in DOM (2-30 mg C L -1 ) solutions irradiated by 365 nm, where NH 2 Cl has no absorption. The second-order quenching rate constants of triplet state model photosensitizers by NH 2 Cl were determined to be 0.95(± 0.04)-4.49(± 0.04)× 10 8 M -1 s -1 by using laser flash photolysis. As a reductant, 3 DOM* reacted with NH 2 Cl through one-transfer mechanism, leading to amino radical (NH 2 • ) generation, which then transferred to ammonia (NH 4 + , pKa 9.25) through H-abstraction by the phenolic moieties in DOM. Additionally, the intermediate product of 3 DOM* oxidized by NH 2 Cl or those triplet state quinones can hydrolyze to form phenolic moieties, elevating NH 4 + yield to higher than 99% upon 365 nm irradiation. Biological antagonists serve as the most important green alternatives to chemical fungicides, a class of microorganism that inhibits the growth of pathogenic fungi to reduce fruit incidence. In this paper, healthy and diseased peach fruit was selected for amplicon sequencing of the epiphytic microbiota on their surface to obtain a comprehensive understanding. Community structure, diversity and LefSe analysis were performed to screen Acetobacter, Muribaculaceae and Burkholderia as the core bacteria, Mycosphaerella, Penicillium and Alternaria as the core fungi, they showed significant differences and were highly enriched. Two strains fungi (Penicillium K3 and N1) and one strain antagonistic bacteria (Burkholderia J2) were isolated. The in intro test results indicated the bacterial suspension, fermentation broth and volatile organic compounds of antagonistic bacteria J2 were able to significantly inhibit pathogen growth. In vivo experiments, peach was stored at 28 °C for 6 days after different treatments, and samples were taken every day. It was found that Burkholderia J2 enhanced peach resistance by increasing the activities of antioxidant-related enzymes such as SOD, POD, PAL, PPO, GR, MDHAR, and DHAR. Mulberry cultivation and silkworm rearing hold a prominent position in the agricultural industries of many Asian countries, contributing to economic growth, sustainable development, and cultural heritage preservation. Applying the soil-mulberry-silkworm system (SMSS) to heavy metal (HM)-contaminated areas is significant economically, environmentally, and socially. The ultimate goal of this paper is to review the main research progress of SMSS under HM stress, examining factors affecting its safe utilization and remediation potential for HM-contaminated soils. HM tolerance of mulberry and silkworms relates to their growth stages. Based on the standards for HM contaminants in various mulberry and silkworm products and the bioconcentration factor of HMs at different parts of SMSS, we calculated maximum safe Cd and Pb levels for SMSS application on contaminated lands. Several remediation practices demonstrated mulberry's ability to grow on barren lands, absorb various HMs, while silkworm excreta can adsorb HMs and improve soil fertility. Considering multiple factors influencing HM tolerance and accumulation, we propose a decision model to guide SMSS application in polluted areas. Finally, we discussed the potential of using molecular breeding techniques to screen or develop varieties better suited for HM-contaminated regions. However, actual pollution scenarios are often complex, requiring consideration of multiple factors. The clinical use of chemotherapy for refractory osteosarcoma (OS) is limited due to its multiorgan toxicity. To overcome this challenge, new dosage forms and combination treatments, such as phototherapy, are being explored to improve targeted delivery and cytocompatibility of chemotherapeutic agents. In addition, inducing ferroptosis in iron-rich tumors could be a promising strategy to enhance OS therapy. In this study, a novel formulation was developed using natural biological H-ferritin (HFn) encapsulating the photosensitizer IR-780 and the chemotherapy drug gemcitabine (Gem) for OS-specific targeted therapy (HFn@Gem/IR-780 NPs). HFn@Gem/IR-780 NPs were designed to specifically bind and internalize into OS cells by interacting with transferrin receptor 1 (TfR1) which is overexpressed on the surface of OS cell membranes. The Gem and IR-780 were then released responsively under mildly acidic conditions in tumors. HFn@Gem/IR-780 NPs achieved cascaded antitumor therapeutic efficacy through the combination of chemotherapy and phototherapy under near-infrared irradiation in vitro and in vivo. Importantly, HFn@Gem/IR-780 NPs demonstrated excellent safety profile with significantly decreased drug exposure to normal organs, indicating its potential for reducing systemic toxicity. The use of in-feed antibiotics has been widely restricted due to the significant environmental pollution and food safety concerns they have caused. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) have attracted widespread attention as potential future alternatives to in-feed antibiotics owing to their demonstrated antimicrobial activity and environment friendly characteristics. However, the challenges of weak bioactivity, immature stability, and low production yields of natural AMPs impede practical application in the feed industry. To address these problems, efforts have been made to develop strategies for approaching the AMPs with enhanced properties. Herein, we summarize approaches to improving the properties of AMPs as potential alternatives to in-feed antibiotics, mainly including optimization of structural parameters, sequence modification, selection of microbial hosts, fusion expression, and industrially fermentation control. Additionally, the potential for application of AMPs in animal husbandry is discussed. Objective: The study aims to investigate whether intraoperative protection of the pharyngeal autonomic nerve can effectively reduce the incidence of postoperative dysphagia following anterior cervical decompression and fusion surgery (ACDF)., Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 130 cases that underwent ACDF from January 2018 to June 2022 at our hospital. Divided into nonautonomic neuroprotection (NANP) group and autonomic neuroprotection group based on whether receive protective measures for the pharyngeal autonomic nerve during surgery. General data were recorded and compared between the 2 groups. Postoperative outcomes were evaluated using Neck Disability Index, Japanese Orthopaedics Association (JOA) score, and JOA improvement rate. The incidence and severity of postoperative dysphagia were assessed using Bazaz dysphagia assessment criteria and swallowing-quality of life questionnaire., Results: There were no significant differences in general data (P > 0.05). The average operation time and intraoperative blood loss also showed no significant differences (P > 0.05). Both groups showed significant improvements in Neck Disability Index and JOA scores at all follow-up time points compared to preoperative scores (P < 0.01). The incidence of postoperative dysphagia in the autonomic neuroprotection group was significantly lower than that in the NANP group at all follow-up time points (P < 0.05). Both group showed a significant reduction in scores 3 days postoperatively compared to preoperative scores (P < 0.01), and the NANP group also showed significant reductions in scores at 3 month and 1 year postoperative follow-up time points compared to preoperative scores (P < 0.01)., Conclusions: The adoption of pharyngeal autonomic nerve protective measures during ACDF can effectively lower the probability of postoperative dysphagia., (Copyright © 2024 Elsevier Inc. Triplet state dissolved organic matter ( 3 DOM*) plays a significant role in inducing oxidant decay and radical generation in light-based advanced oxidation processes. However, the effects of pH still need investigation. This work quantitatively analyzed the pH-dependent free available chlorine (FAC) decay and radical formation (i.e., HO • and Cl • ) induced by 3 DOM* or triplet state photosensitizer ( 3 PS*). Upon UV irradiation at 254 nm, the decay rate of FAC by 3 DOM* or 3 PS* was the highest at neutral pH, while those by dark reaction of DOM and the direct photolysis of FAC were the highest at acidic conditions. This is attributed to the variation of FAC species, 3 DOM* or 3 PS* formation, and the reaction rate constants of FAC with 3 DOM* or 3 PS* at pH 5.0-10.0. 3 DOM* and 3 PS* formed increasingly with pH varying from 5.0 to 10.0, while their reactivity with FAC decreased due to the speciation from HOCl to OCl - . Radical formation (i.e., HO • and Cl • ) from FAC reaction with 3 DOM* or 3 PS* occurred at all the testing pH range (5.0-10.0). This work highlighted the pH-dependent role of 3 DOM* in oxidant decay and radical formation in treating DOM containing waters through oxidant photolysis. The potential application of succinylated chickpea protein (SCP) as a wall material for spray-dried microencapsulated probiotics was investigated. The results showed that succinylation increased the surface charge of chickpea proteins (CP) and reduced the particle size of the proteins. Meanwhile, succinylated modification decreased the solubility of protein under acidic conditions and increased the solubility in alkaline conditions. The effects of spray drying and in vitro gastrointestinal digestion on probiotics were investigated by microencapsulating chickpea protein with different degrees of N-succinylation. The results showed that all microcapsules had similar morphology, particle size and low water content. The microcapsules prepared by succinylated chickpea protein showed better stability and viability during spray drying and gastrointestinal digestion. The protective effect of probiotics was better as the degree of N-succinylation increased. In particular, the SCP-3-P sample (10 % succinic anhydride modified CP and maltodextrin) lost only 0.29 Log CFU/g throughout gastrointestinal digestion. The superior protective effect provided by succinylated CP in simulated gastric fluid (SGF) was mainly attributed to the reaction of succinic anhydride with protein to cause protein aggregation under gastric acidic conditions, reducing the infiltration of gastric acid and pepsin and maintaining the structural integrity of the microcapsules. Rehabilitation of degraded soil health using high-performance and sustainable measures are urgently required for restoring soil primary productivity and mitigating greenhouse gas (GHG) emission of coastal ecosystems. However, the effect of livestock manure derived hydrochar on GHG emission and plant productivity in the coastal salt-affected soils, one of blue carbon (C) ecosystems, was poorly understood. Therefore, a cattle manure hydrochar (CHC) produced at 220 °C was prepared to explore its effects and mechanisms on CH 4 and N 2 O emissions and tomato growth and fruit quality in a coastal soil in comparison with corresponding hydrochars derived from plant straws, i.e., sesbania straw hydrochars (SHC) and reed straw hydrochars (RHC) using a 63-day soil column experiment. The results showed that CHC posed a greater efficiency in reducing the global warming potential (GWP, 54.6 % (36.7 g/m 2 ) vs. 45.5-45.6 % (22.2-30.6 g/m 2 )) than those of RHC and SHC. For the plant growth, three hydrochars at 3 % (w/w) significantly increased dry biomass of tomato shoot and fruit by 12.4-49.5 % and 48.6-165 %, respectively. Moreover, CHC showed the highest promotion effect on shoot and fruit dry biomass of tomato, followed by SHC ≈ RHC. Application of SHC, CHC and RHC significantly elevated the tomato sweetness compared with CK, with the order of CHC (54.4 %) > RHC (35.6 %) > SHC (22.1 %). Structural equation models revealed that CHC-depressed denitrification and methanogen mainly contributed to decreased GHG emissions. Increased soil phosphorus availability due to labile phosphorus supply from CHC dominantly accounted for elevated tomato growth and fruit production. Comparably, SHC-altered soil properties (e.g., decreased pH and increased total carbon content) determined variations of GHG emission and tomato growth. The selection of postoperative antiviral therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients with HBV infection undergoing radical treatments (HPHR) is a topic of ongoing debate and controversy. The primary aim of this study was to compare the prognostic impact of selecting entecavir (ETV) or tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) as antiviral therapy options in HPHR. All the studies included in this analysis were implemented propensity score matching (PSM) methodology. Meta-analysis was performed using R statistical software (version 4.3.0). The primary outcome measures, overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS), were quantified using hazard ratios (HR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI). This study analyzed 13 studies involving 6961 patients (2394 in the TDF group and 4567 in the ETV group). We conducted a meta-analysis of 8 studies that included a total of 5289 patients using the PSM analysis method. In comparison to the ETV group, the TDF group demonstrated significantly better RFS (HR = 0.81; 95% CI, 0.70-0.93; p = 0.0034) and OS (HR = 0.61; 95% CI, 0.42-0.88; p = 0.0085). Furthermore, the disparity between the two drugs was particularly evident in the prognosis of patients undergoing hepatectomy. Regional disparities were observed, with mainland China studies favoring RFS benefits and Taiwan or Korea studies favoring OS benefits. In conclusion, TDF has demonstrated significant superiority over ETV in terms of RFS and OS outcomes for HPHR. Developing safe, eco-friendly, and functionally edible packaging materials has attracted global attention. Essential oils, can be incorporated into packaging materials as antioxidant and antibacterial agents. However, their high volatility and discontinuous film matrix issues may cause a rough film surface, limiting the application in food packaging. In this study, thyme essential oil microemulsion (TEO-M) was prepared and incorporated into a pullulan-sodium alginate (PS) film. The TEO-M incorporation endowed the PS film with antioxidant and UV protection properties. The antioxidant activities of the TEO-M-incorporated PS film were significantly better than those of the TEO-C (thyme essential oil coarse emulsion)-incorporated PS film. In comparison to TEO-C, the distribution of TEO-M in the film is more uniform. Lipid oxidation and the growth of microorganisms in chilled pork were inhibited by incorporating TEO-M at a concentration of 50 mg/mL in the PS film (PS-50M). After 10 days of storage at 4 °C, the total viable count (TVC) of chilled pork preserved in the PS-50M material was significantly reduced compared to the control group (P < 0.05). Dissolved organic matter (DOM) derived from wetland plants played a critical role in CWs pollutant migration. This study investigated the character and release pattern of DOM derived from two wetland plants, Phragmites australis and Cladophora sp., and the interaction between DOM with phenanthrene (PHE), benzo(a)pyrene (Bap), and benzo [k]fluoranthene (BkF) under different physical conditions were also studied using spectroscopic techniques. DOM release was related to plant species and withering stage. Humic acid (HA)-like fractions (C3 and C5) were dominated in P. australis (52%) and completely withered Cladophora sp. groups (55%), while protein-like fractions (C1 and C2) dominated in early withered Cladophora sp. groups (52%). Due to the cell and tissue structure difference among plants and their withering stage, DOM derived from early withered P. australis revealed a two-stage slow-fast phase, while other groups were linearly released (R 2 0.87207-0.97091). A strong correlation existed between HA-like fractions and water quality index, reflecting the critical influence of plant decay in CWs operation performance. The analysis with Stern-Volmer equation indicated that plant-based DOM interacted with PAHs to form ground state complexes with possible involvement of π-π interaction, hydrogen bonding and cation bridging effect. Aromatic, molecular weight, and hydrophilicity of both DOM and PAHs affected their binding with the interaction capability in the order of BKF > Bap > PHE and C3 > C5 > C2 > C1 > C4. Besides, alkaline environment and high DO condition was highly unsuitable for the combination. Hexavalent chromium is a toxic metal that can induce severe chromium contamination of soil, posing a potential risk to human health and ecosystems. In recent years, the immobilization of Cr(VI) using remediation materials including inorganic materials, organic materials, microbial agents, and composites has exhibited great potential in remediating Cr(VI)-contaminated soil owing to the environmental-friendliness, short period, simple operation, low cost, applicability on an industrial scale, and high efficiency of these materials. Therefore, a systematical summary of the current progress on various remediation materials is essential. This work introduces the production (sources) of remediation materials and examines their characteristics in detail. Additionally, a critical summary of recent research on the utilization of remediation materials for the stabilization of Cr(VI) in the soil is provided, together with an evaluation of their remediation efficiencies toward Cr(VI). The influences of remediation material applications on soil physicochemical properties, microbial community structure, and plant growth are summarized. The immobilization mechanisms of remediation materials toward Cr(VI) in the soil are illuminated. Importantly, this study evaluates the feasibility of each remediation material application for Cr(VI) remediation. The latest knowledge on the development of remediation materials for the immobilization of Cr(VI) in the soil is also presented. It is a challenging task to remove heavy metal ions efficiently from the wastewater containing high concentrations of complexants. In this work, a novel PEI-modified chitosan/activated carbon composite adsorbent (PCA) was prepared and applied to the removal of Cu(II) from pyrophosphate plating rinsing wastewater. The main species of Cu(II) in the pyrophosphate wastewater was [Cu(HP 2 O 7 ) 2 ] 4- or [Cu(P 2 O 7 ) 2 ] 6- , which were denoted as [Cu(II)-PP] anions. The maximum adsorption capacity of PCA for Cu(II) reached 1.41 mmol g -1 under the condition of pH = 8 and molar ratio of pyrophosphate to Cu(II) = 4:1. The adsorption kinetic behavior of Cu(II) on PCA followed the Elovich model best and PCA attained adsorption equilibrium within 36 h. The thermodynamic studies showed that the adsorption process of Cu(II) by PCA was endothermic and spontaneous. The PCA fixed bed column was used to remove Cu(II) from simulated pyrophosphate plating rinsing wastewater. After three consecutive adsorption-desorption cycles, the adsorption performance, hydraulic conductivity, and mechanical stability of PCA column did not decrease. Our previous research found that the nuclear factor-E2-related factor 2 (NRF2) protein was sustained activated in malignant transformation of human keratinocyte (HaCaT cells) caused by NaAsO 2 , but the role of NRF2 in it remains unknown. In this study, malignant transformation of HaCaT cells and labeled HaCaT cells used to detect mitochondrial glutathione levels (Mito-Grx1-roGFP2 HaCaT cells) were induced by 1.0 μM NaAsO 2 . Redox levels were measured at passages 0, early stage (passages 1, 7, 14), later stage (passages 21, 28 and 35) of arsenite-treated HaCaT cells. Oxidative stress levels increased at early stage. The NRF2 pathway was sustained activated. Cells and mitochondrial reductive stress levels (GSH/GSSG and NADPH/NADP + ) increased. The mitochondrial GSH/GSSG levels of Mito-Grx1-roGFP2 HaCaT cells also increased. The indicators of glucose metabolism glucose-6-phosphate, lactate and the glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) levels increased, however Acetyl-CoA level decreased. Expression levels of glucose metabolic enzymes increased. After transfection with NRF2 siRNA, the indicators of glucose metabolism were reversed. After transfection with NRF2 or G6PD siRNA, cells and mitochondrial reductive stress levels decreased and the malignant phenotype was reversed. In conclusion, oxidative stress occurred in the early stage and the NRF2 was sustained high expression. Although filamentous algae have the characteristics of high nutrient assimilation ability, and adaptation to different conditions, studies on their role in water purification of constructed wetlands (CWs) are limited. In this study, the wastewater treatment capacity under different nitrogen sources was explored by constructing a filamentous algal CW (FACW) system. Results confirmed the fast and stable operation efficiency of the FACW system. Ammonia nitrogen was preferred in Cladophora sp. absorption and assimilation. The nutrient consumption rate (NCR) for total nitrogen (TN) of AG was 2.65 mg g -1  d -1 , much higher than that of nitrate nitrogen (NG) (0.89 mg g -1  d -1 ). The symbiosis of bacteria and Cladophora sp. Contributed to pollutant removal. A stable and diverse community of microorganisms was found on Cladophora sp. Surface, which revealed different phylogenetic relationships and functional bacterial proportions with those attached on sediment surface. In addition, temperature and light intensity have great influence on the purification ability of plants, and low hydraulic retention time is beneficial to the cost-effective operation of the system. Resistant starch (RS) has become a popular topic of research in recent years. Most scholars believe that there are 5 types of RS. However, accumulating evidence indicates that in addition to starch-lipid complexes, which are the fifth type of RS, complexes containing starch and other substances can also be generated. The physicochemical properties and physiologic functions of these complexes are worth exploring. New physiologic functions of several original RSs are constantly being discovered. Research shows that RS can provide health improvements in many patients with chronic diseases, including diabetes and obesity, and even has potential benefits for kidney disease and colorectal cancer. Moreover, RS can alter the short-chain fatty acids and microorganisms in the gut, positively regulating the body's internal environment. Despite the increase in its market demand, RS production remains limited. Upscaling RS production is thus an urgent requirement. In this study, three-dimensional (3D) carboxymethylcellulose sodium (CMC) aerogel was decorated with NiCo bimetallic and the corresponding monometallic organic frameworks to prepare MOFs-CMC composite adsorbents for the removal of Cu 2+ . The obtained MOFs-CMC composite including Ni/Co-MOF-CMC, Ni-MOF-CMC, and Co-MOF-CMC were characterized by SEM, FT-IR, XRD, XPS analysis, and zeta potential. The adsorption behavior of MOFs-CMC composite for Cu 2+ was explored by batch adsorption test, adsorption kinetics and adsorption isotherms. The experimental data satisfied the pseudo-second-order model and Langmuir isotherm model. The maximum adsorption capacities followed the sequence of Ni/Co-MOF-CMC (233.99 mg/g) > Ni-MOF-CMC (216.95 mg/g) > Co-MOF-CMC (214.38 mg/g), indicating that there was a synergistic effect between Ni and Co to promote the adsorption of Cu 2+ . Remediation of soils pollution caused by dinotefuran, a chiral pesticide, is indispensable for ensuring human food security. In comparison with pyrochar, the effect of hydrochar on enantioselective fate of dinotefuran, and antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) profiles in the contaminated soils remain poorly understood. Therefore, wheat straw hydrochar (SHC) and pyrochar (SPC) were prepared at 220 and 500 °C, respectively, to investigate their effects and underlying mechanisms on enantioselective fate of dinotefuran enantiomers and metabolites, and soil ARG abundance in soil-plant ecosystems using a 30-day pot experiment planted with lettuce. SPC showed a greater reduction effect on the accumulation of R- and S-dinotefuran and metabolites in lettuce shoots than SHC. This was mainly resulted from the lowered soil bioavailability of R- and S-dinotefuran due to adsorption/immobilization by chars, together with the char-enhanced pesticide-degrading bacteria resulted from increased soil pH and organic matter content. Both SPC and SHC efficiently reduced ARG levels in soils, owing to lowered abundance of ARG-carrying bacteria and declined horizontal gene transfer induced by decreased dinotefuran bioavailability. The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic is still wreaking havoc worldwide. Therefore, the urgent need for efficient treatments pushes researchers and clinicians into screening effective drugs. Drug repurposing may be a promising and time-saving strategy to identify potential drugs against this disease. Here, we developed a novel computational approach, named Drug Target Set Enrichment Analysis (DTSEA), to identify potent drugs against COVID-19. DTSEA first mapped the disease-related genes into a gene functional interaction network, and then it used a network propagation algorithm to rank all genes in the network by calculating the network proximity of genes to disease-related genes. Finally, an enrichment analysis was performed on drug target sets to prioritize disease-candidate drugs. It was shown that the top three drugs predicted by DTSEA, including Ataluren, Carfilzomib, and Aripiprazole, were significantly enriched in the immune response pathways indicating the potential for use as promising COVID-19 inhibitors. In addition to these drugs, DTSEA also identified several drugs (such as Remdesivir and Olumiant), which have obtained emergency use authorization (EUA) for COVID-19. These results indicated that DTSEA could effectively identify the candidate drugs for COVID-19, which will help to accelerate the development of drugs for COVID-19. We then performed several validations to ensure the reliability and validity of DTSEA, including topological analysis, robustness analysis, and prediction consistency. To activate persulfate to generate reactive species such as sulfate radical (SO 4 •- ) for micropollutants abatement, external energy or chemicals are often needed. In this study, a novel SO 4 •- formation pathway was reported during the oxidation of neonicotinoids by peroxydisulfate (S 2 O 8 2- , PDS) without any other chemical additions. Thiamethoxam (TMX) was used as a representative neonicotinoid and SO 4 •- was the dominant specie contributing to its degradation during PDS oxidation at neutral pH. TMX anion radical (TMX •- ) was found to activate PDS to generate SO 4 •- with the second-order reaction rate constant determined to be (1.44 ± 0.47)× 10 6 M -1 s -1 at pH 7.0 by using laser flash photolysis. TMX •- was generated from the TMX reactions with superoxide radical (O 2 •- ), which was formed from the hydrolysis of PDS. This indirect PDS activation pathway via anion radicals was also applicable to other neonicotinoids. The formation rates of SO 4 •- were found to negatively linearly correlated with E gap (LUMO-HOMO). The DFT calculations indicated the energy barrier of anion radicals to activate PDS was greatly reduced compared to the parent neonicotinoids. In this study, physicochemical pre- and post-treatment of highly polluting coking wastewater (CWW) for the removal of refractory compounds and recovery of high-energy substances/components was investigated. An economic optimization model targeting the development of a cost-effective and sustainable treatment technology was proposed. At the post-treatment stage, powdered activated carbon (PAC) was used to separate the refractory and toxic pollutants from the bio-treated CWW, with the adsorption capacity ranging from 50 to 120 mg chemical oxygen demand (COD) g -1 PAC. Then, the spent PAC, together with a coagulant, was reused in the pre-treatment of highly concentrated raw CWW, which lifted the adsorption capacity to 800-1200 mg COD g -1 PAC. Results showed that the adsorbent's high selectivity towards macromolecular and complicated pollutants could remove 25-65 % of COD in both CWW flows. Analysis of pollutants' molecular weight distribution and GC-MS indicated a good affinity between PAC and high-energy pollutants (phenolic compounds and alkanes), which could transfer 144,555 kJ m -3 of energy from CWW to the adsorption-coagulation sludge. The economic optimization model suggested that the cost of the adsorbent was compensated by the net benefits of energy recovery and that profit was achieved when the PAC price was less than 5562 CNY t -1 . The proposed two-stage PAC/coagulant approach offers a way to sustainable water quality and sludge management, plus energy recycling, in CWW treatment. Valvular heart disease is a major threat to human health and transcatheter heart valve replacement (THVR) has emerged as the primary treatment option for severe heart valve disease. Bioprosthetic heart valves (BHVs) with superior hemodynamic performance and compressibility have become the first choice for THVR, and more BHVs have been requested for clinical use in recent years. However, several drawbacks remain for the commercial BHVs cross-linked by glutaraldehyde, including calcification, thrombin, poor biocompatibility and difficulty in endothelialization, which would further reduce the BHVs' lifetime. This study developed a dual-functional non-glutaraldehyde crosslinking reagent OX-VI, which can provide BHV materials with reactive double bonds (CC) for further bio-function modification in addition to the crosslinking function. BHV material PBAF@OX-PP was developed from OX-VI treated porcine pericardium (PP) after the polymerization with 4-vinylbenzene boronic acid and the subsequent modification of poly (vinyl alcohol) and fucoidan. Based on the functional anti-coagulation and endothelialization strategy and dual-functional crosslinking reagent, PBAF@OX-PP has better anti-coagulation and anti-calcification properties, higher biocompatibility, and improved endothelial cells proliferation when compared to Glut-treated PP, as well as the satisfactory mechanical properties and enhanced resistance effect to enzymatic degradation, making it a promising candidate in the clinical application of BHVs. Naphthenic acids (NAs) are typical contaminants in heavily crude oil. Benzo[a]pyrene (B[a]P) is also a component of crude oil, but their combined effects have not been systematically explored. In this study, zebrafish (Danio rerio) were used as the test organisms, and behavioral indicators and enzyme activities were used as toxicity indicators. Combined with the effects of environmental concentrations, the toxic effects of low concentrations of commercially available NAs (0.5 mg/LNA) and benzo[a]pyrene (0.8 μg/LBaP) at single and compound exposures (0.5 mg/LNA and 0.8 μg/LBaP) were assayed in zebrafish, and transcriptome sequencing technology was used to explore the molecular mechanism of the two compounds affecting zebrafish from the molecular biology level. Sensitive molecular markers that could indicate the presence of contaminants were screened. The results showed that (1) zebrafish in the NA and BaP exposure groups exhibited increased locomotor behavior, and the mixed exposure group exhibited inhibition of locomotor behavior. Oxidative stress biomarkers showed increased activity under single exposure and decreased activity under the mixed exposure. (2) NA stress led to changes in the activity of transporters and the intensity of energy metabolism; BaP directly stimulates the pathway of actin production. When the two compounds are combined, the excitability of neurons in the central nervous system is decreased, and the actin-related genes are down-regulated. (3) After BaP and Mix treatments, genes were enriched in the cytokine-receptor interaction and actin signal pathway, while NA increased the toxic effect on the mixed treatment group. In general, the interaction between NA and BaP has a synergistic effect on the transcription of zebrafish nerve and motor behavior-related genes, resulting in increased toxicity under combined exposure. The changes in expression of various zebrafish genes are manifested in the changes in the normal movement behavior of zebrafish and the intensification of oxidative stress in the apparent behavior and physiological indicators. Liver function indicators are often impaired in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), who present higher concentrations of aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, and gamma-glutamyl transferase than individuals without diabetes. However, the mechanism of liver injury in patients with T2DM has not been clearly elucidated. In this study, we performed a lipidomics analysis on the liver of T2DM mice, and we found that phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) levels were low in T2DM, along with an increase in diglyceride, which may be due to a decrease in the levels of phosphoethanolamine cytidylyltransferase (Pcyt2), thus likely affecting the de novo synthesis of PE. The phosphatidylserine decarboxylase pathway did not change significantly in the T2DM model, although both pathways are critical sources of PE. Supplementation with CDP-ethanolamine (CDP-etn) to increase the production of PE from the CDP-etn pathway reversed high glucose and FFA (HG&FFA)-induced mitochondrial damage including increased apoptosis, decreased ATP synthesis, decreased mitochondrial membrane potential, and increased reactive oxygen species, whereas supplementation with lysophosphatidylethanolamine, which can increase PE production in the phosphatidylserine decarboxylase pathway, did not. Additionally, we found that overexpression of PCYT2 significantly ameliorated ATP synthesis and abnormal mitochondrial morphology induced by HG&FFA. Finally, the BAX/Bcl-2/caspase3 apoptosis pathway was activated in hepatocytes of the T2DM model, which could also be reversed by CDP-etn supplements and PCYT2 overexpression. The increasing and intensifying ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation in sunlight is an environmental threat to aquatic ecosystems, potentially affecting the entire life cycle of wild or aquacultural Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas with photoreception. Due to its complex composition, plasma is an important biological specimen for investigating the degree of disturbance from its steady state caused by the external environment in the open-pipe-type hemolymph of mollusks. We performed a multi-omic analysis of C. gigas plasma exposed to daylight UVB radiation. Hub differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) were identified using the functional classification of Clusters of Orthologous Groups of proteins (COGs) through the protein-protein interaction (PPI)-based maximal clique centrality (MCC) algorithm. Our results summarize three types of UVB influences (disruption of the cell membrane, promotion of nucleotide metabolism, and inhibition of energy metabolism) on C. gigas based on transcriptomic, proteomic, and metabolomic analyses. Urinary tract infections (UTIs) exert a significant health and economic cost globally. Approximately one in four people with a previous history of UTI continue to develop recurrent or chronic infections. Research on UTI has primarily concentrated on pathogen behavior, with the focus gradually shifting to encompass the host immune response. However, these are centered on mouse models of Escherichia coli infection, which may not fully recapitulate the infective etiology and immune responses seen in humans. The emerging field of the urobiome also inadvertently confounds the discrimination of true UTI-causing pathogens from commensals. This review aims to present a novel perspective on chronic UTI by linking microbiology with immunology, which is commonly divergent in this field of research. It also describes the challenges in understanding chronic UTI pathogenesis and the human bladder immune response, largely conjectured from murine studies. Lastly, it outlines the shortcomings of current diagnostic methods in identifying individuals with chronic UTI and consequently treating them, potentially aggravating their disease due to mismanagement of prior episodes. Application of char amendments (e.g., pyrochar or biochar, hydrochar) in degraded soils is proposed as a promising solution for mitigating climate change via carbon sequestration and greenhouse gases (GHGs) emission reduction. However, the hydrochar-mediated microbial modulation mechanisms underlying N 2 O emissions from coastal salt-affected soils, one of essential blue C ecosystems, were poorly understood. Therefore, a wheat straw derived hydrochar (SHC) produced at 220 °C was prepared to investigate its effects on N 2 O emissions from a coastal salt-affected soil in the Yellow River Delta and to distinguish the microbial regulation mechanisms in comparison with corresponding pyrochar pyrolyzed at 500 °C (SPC) using a 28-day soil microcosm experiment. Compared with SPC, the acidic SHC (pH 4.15) enriched in oxygenated functional groups, labile C and N constituents. SHC application more efficiently depressed cumulative soil N 2 O emissions (48.4-61.1 % vs 5.57-45.2 %) than those of SPC. SHC-induced inhibition of ammonia-oxidizing gene (amoA)-mediated nitrification and promotion of full reduction of N 2 O to N 2 by nitrous oxide reductase gene (nosZ) were the underlying microbial mechanisms. Structural equation models further revealed that SHC-modulated bacterial N-transformation responses, i.e., inhibited nitrification and promoted heterotrophic denitrification, mainly contributed to reduced N 2 O emissions, whereas modification of soil properties (e.g., decreased pH, increased total C content) by SPC dominantly accounted for decreased N 2 O emissions. Cardiac fibrosis is a pathological process underlying myocardial remodeling and is characterized by excessive deposition of the myocardial extracellular matrix. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have emerged as critical regulators of various biological processes. In this study, we investigated the role of a novel lncRNA, Gm41724, in cardiac fibrosis induced by pressure overload. High-throughput whole transcriptome sequencing analysis was performed to detect differentially expressed lncRNAs in cardiac fibroblasts (CFs) with or without TGF-β1 treatment. Differential expression analysis and gene set enrichment analysis identified Gm41724 as a potential molecule targeting fibrosis. Gm41724 positively regulated the activation of CFs induced by TGF-β1 and pressure overload. Knocking down Gm41724 could inhibit the differentiation of CFs into myofibroblasts and alleviate cardiac fibrosis induced by pressure overload. Mechanistically, comprehensive identification of RNA-binding proteins by mass spectrometry (CHIRP-MS) and RNA immunoprecipitation (RIP) assay combined with other methods of molecular biological revealed the important role of Gm41724 binding to lamina-associated polypeptide 2α (lap2α) for the activation of CFs. Further mechanistic studies indicated that the regulator of G protein signaling 4 (Rgs4), as the downstream effector of Gm41724/lap2α, regulated CFs activation. Objectives: We aimed to explore the transmission dynamics of the Omicron BA.1.1 variant in an outbreak in China., Methods: We constructed 113 transmission pairs based on the time of exposure and symptom onset for identified infectors and infectees, using the epidemiological data collected during an outbreak in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, China, between January and February 2022. The key epidemiological parameters were estimated., Results: The mean estimates of the incubation period and latent period distributions were 3.8 days (95% credible interval: 3.5, 4.1) and 3.1 days (2.8, 3.5), respectively. The overall transmission risk peaked at symptom onset, and we estimated that 33.6% (24.8, 42.5) of transmission occurred before symptom onset. The forward generation time decreased from 5.2 days (4.7, 5.7) at the start of the outbreak to 2.2 days (2.0, 2.5) by the end. Allowing this variation over time in the generation time distribution, we estimated that the reproduction number dropped rapidly from 9.5 (3.5, 18.4) to 0.8 (0.3, 1.5) over the outbreak., Conclusion: Shorter incubation period and latent period were estimated for the Omicron BA.1.1 variant. Promoting the in situ regeneration of cartilage without additional cells or cytokines remains challenging. Here, inspired by the unique microstructures of subchondral bone, a cell and cytokine free hydrogel scaffold for cartilage regeneration was developed via a strategy of directional lyophilization and postcrosslinking. This strategy achieved intersecting microchannels in an orderly arrangement and an aligned ladder-like texture in a semi-interpenetrating hydrogel network. The resulting hydrogel had similar mechanical properties to the native cartilage extracellular matrix. Incorporating chitosan into the rigid network also endowed the hydrogel with excellent hemostatic properties. By delicately tuning the components and postcrosslinking conditions, the hydrogel was further endowed with suitable swelling and degradation properties for cartilage regeneration. In vitro tests showed that the highly biocompatible hydrogel scaffold could facilitate the migration and chondrogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells. In vivo results further verified that the hydrogel could promote the in situ regeneration of cartilage in a rat model of osteochondral defects.
