The o-phenanthroline gly Cu(II) complex, [CuCl(phen)(gly)]∙4H 2 O 1, has been prepared and structurally characterized. The transfer RNA binding and degradation properties of complex 1 have been investigated by UV-vis spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry (CV), capillary electrophoresis (CE) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) methods. The results showed that 1 can efficiently cleave tRNA in the physiological conditions (pH 7.0, and 37 °C), and has a digestion coefficient nearly up to 100% within 75 h. AFM image for 1/RNA exhibited arrayed tandem repetitions of tRNA segments. This study is targeting the destruction of the high-order structures of genetic biomacromolecules which paves an important way to novel materials for the decontamination of microorganisms (e.g., bacteria and viruses)., (Copyright © 2018 Elsevier Inc. The Fourier transform Raman and Fourier transform infrared spectra of 3,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol were recorded in the solid phase. The equilibrium geometry, harmonic vibrational frequencies, infrared intensities and Raman scattering activities, depolarization ratios, reduced masses were calculated by HF and density functional B3LYP method with the 6-311 G** basis set. The scaled theoretical wavenumbers showed very good agreement with the experimental values. The thermodynamic functions of the title compound were also performed at HF/6-311G** and B3LYP/6-311G** levels of theory. A detailed interpretations of the infrared and Raman spectra of 3,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol is reported. The theoretical spectrograms for FT-IR spectra of the title molecule have been constructed.

A new bis(N-benzyl-benzotriazole)dichloro Co(II) complex (Co(bbt)(2)Cl(2)) was synthesized and the structure was characterized by X-ray crystallography, IR spectrum and elemental analysis. The electrochemical characterization of Co(bbt)(2)Cl(2) was measured in detail, and the interaction of this Co(II) complex with fish sperm DNA was studied by electrochemical techniques and ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectrophotometry. The cyclic voltammetry (CV) showed that Co(bbt)(2)Cl(2) had two reduction peaks and one oxidation peak on gold electrode. It was found that the currents of both the reduction peaks and the oxidation peak decreased significantly in the presence of DNA compared with those in the absence of DNA, which indicated that Co(bbt)(2)Cl(2) could interact with DNA. The binding of DNA with the complex was not only electrostatic binding but also intercalation.
