The distinctive environmental attributes of the Southern Ocean underscore the indispensability of microorganisms in this region. We analyzed 208 samples obtained from four separate layers (Surface, Deep Chlorophyll Maximum, Middle, and Bottom) in the neighboring seas of the Antarctic Peninsula and the Cosmonaut Sea to explore variations in microbial composition, interactions and community assembly processes. The results demonstrated noteworthy distinctions in alpha and beta diversity across diverse communities, with the increase in water depth, a gradual rise in community diversity was observed. In particular, the co-occurrence network analysis exposed pronounced microbial interactions within the same water mass, which are notably stronger than those observed between different water masses. Co-occurrence network complexity was higher in the surface water mass than in the bottom water mass. Yet, the surface water mass exhibited greater network stability. Moreover, in the phylogenetic-based β-nearest taxon distance analyses, deterministic processes were identified as the primary factors influencing community assembly in Antarctic microorganisms. The rhizosphere microorganisms of blueberry plants have long coexisted with their hosts under distinctively acidic soil conditions, exerting a profound influence on host performance through mutualistic symbiotic interactions. Meanwhile, plants can regulate rhizosphere microorganisms by exerting host effects to meet the functional requirements of plant growth and development. However, it remains unknown how the developmental stages of blueberry plants affect the structure, function, and interactions of the rhizosphere microbial communities. Here, we examined bacterial communities and root metabolites at three developmental stages (flower and leaf bud development stage, fruit growth and development stage, and fruit maturation stage) of blueberry plants. The results revealed that the Shannon and Chao 1 indices as well as community composition varied significantly across all three developmental stages. The relative abundance of Actinobacteria significantly increased by 10 % (p < 0.05) from stage 1 to stage 2, whereas that of Proteobacteria decreased significantly. The co-occurrence network analysis revealed a relatively complex network with 1179 edges and 365 nodes in the stage 2. Niche breadth was highest at stage 2, while niche overlap tended to increase as the plant developed. Furthermore, the untargeted metabolome analysis revealed that the number of differential metabolites of vitamins, nucleic acids, steroids, and lipids increased between stage 1 to stage2 and stage 2 to stage 3, while those for differential metabolites of carbohydrates and peptides decreased. Significant changes in expression levels of levan, L-glutamic acid, indoleacrylic acid, oleoside 11-methyl ester, threo-syringoylglycerol, gingerglycolipid B, and bovinic acid were highly correlated with the bacterial community structure. Collectively, our study reveals that significant alterations in dominant bacterial taxa are strongly correlated with the dynamics of root metabolites. Background: Ambient air pollution might serve as a prognostic factor for ovarian cancer (OC) survival, yet the relationships between plant-based diet indices (PDIs) and OC survival remain unclear. We aimed to investigate the associations of comprehensive air pollution and PDIs with OC survival and explored the effects of air pollution-diet interactions., Methods: The present study encompassed 658 patients diagnosed with OC. The overall plant-based diet index (PDI), the healthful PDI (hPDI), and the unhealthful PDI (uPDI) were evaluated by a self-reported validated food frequency questionnaire. In addition, an air pollution score (APS) was formulated by summing the concentrations of particulate matter with a diameter of 2.5 microns or less, ozone, and nitrogen dioxide. Cox proportional hazard models were applied to calculate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95 % confidence intervals (CIs). The potential interactions of APS with PDIs in relation to overall survival (OS) were assessed on both multiplicative and additive scales., Results: Throughout a median follow-up of 37.60 (interquartile: 24.77-50.70) months, 123 deaths were confirmed. Comparing to the lowest tertiles, highest uPDI was associated with lower OS of OC (HR = 2.06, 95 % CI = 1.30, 3.28; P-trend < 0.01), whereas no significant associations were found between either overall PDI or hPDI and OC survival. Higher APS (HR for per interquartile range = 1.27, 95 % CI = 1.01, 1.60) was significantly associated with worse OC survival, and the association was exacerbated by adherence to uPDI. Notably, an additive interaction was identified between combined air pollution and uPDI (P < 0.005 for high APS and high uPDI). Objectives: This study explored the bidirectional relationship between job burnout and empathy among Chinese nurses., Methods: A nurse cohort was assessed longitudinally in 2020 (T1) and 2022 (T2). Participants completed the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI)-Human Services Survey and the Jefferson Scale of Empathy-Health Professionals., Results: Out of the 1090 nurses who participated in both assessments, 551 (50.6 %) exhibited job burnout. Nurses with no burnout, discontinued burnout, and newly developed burnout groups had higher levels of empathy than the persistent burnout group. There is a bidirectional negative association between empathy and job burnout, particularly in the depersonalization and low personal accomplishment. Notably, empathy did not predict the emotional exhaustion from burnout, but heightened emotional exhaustion predicted diminished empathy., Conclusion: The findings suggest a significant bidirectional negative association between empathy and job burnout, especially in depersonalization and low personal accomplishment. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common form of liver cancer, accounting for approximately 90 % of all cases. ONC201, a member of the imipridone drug family, has shown promising therapeutic potential and a good safety profile in both malignant pediatric central nervous system tumors (diffuse midline glioma [DMG]) and hematologic malignancies. ONC206 is a more potent analog of ONC201. However, the ONC206 potential and mechanism of action in HCC remain to be elucidated. We found that ONC206 hindered HCC growth by suppressing cell proliferation and inducing apoptosis. Moreover, ONC206 induced cytoprotective autophagy, and blocking autophagy enhanced the proapoptotic effect of ONC206. Additionally, ONC206 induced mitochondrial swelling, reduced the mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), and led to the accumulation of mitochondrial ROS in HCC cells, ultimately resulting in mitochondrial dysfunction. The HCC patient samples exhibited notably elevated levels of caseinolytic protease proteolytic subunit (ClpP), which serves as a mediator of ONC206-induced mitochondrial dysfunction and the activation of protective autophagy. knockdown of ClpP reversed the cytotoxic effects of ONC206 on HCC cells. The Laptev Sea is a major Marginal Sea in the Western Arctic Ocean. The Arctic amplification brought by global warming influences the hydrological properties of rivers passing through the permafrost zone, which would alter the biological community structure at continental margin. In this study, the structure, assembly, and gene expression of planktonic microbial communities in two estuaries (Protoka Ularovskaya River Estuary, PURE; Lena River Estuary, LRE) of Laptev Sea were examined to investigate the environmental effects of polar rivers. PURE and LRE exhibited distinct environmental characteristics: low temperature and high salinity for PURE, and high temperature and low salinity for LRE, influenced by runoff size. Salinity more closely influenced microbial communities in LRE, with freshwater species playing a significant role in community composition. The findings revealed differences between two estuaries in community composition and diversity. Prokaryotes and microeukaryotes had shown different assembly patterns in response to habitat changes caused by terrestrial freshwater input. Furthermore, compared with the PURE, the co-occurrence and inter-domain network of the LRE, which was more affected by terrestrial input, was more complex and stable. Functional gene prediction revealed a higher gene expression of methane metabolism in LRE than in PURE, particularly those related to methane oxidation, and this conclusion could help better explore the impact of global warming on the methane cycle in the Arctic Marginal Seas. Peptides, with recognized physiological and medical implications, such as the ability to lower blood pressure and lipid levels, are central to our research on umami taste perception. This study introduces a computational strategy to tackle the challenge of identifying optimal umami receptors for these peptides. Our VmmScore algorithm includes two integral components: Mlp4Umami, a predictive module that evaluates the umami taste potential of peptides, and mm-Score, which enhances the receptor matching process through a machine learning-optimized molecular docking and scoring system. This system encompasses the optimization of docking structures, clustering of umami peptides, and a comparative analysis of docking energies across peptide clusters, streamlining the receptor identification process. Employing machine learning, our method offers a strategic approach to the intricate task of umami receptor determination. We undertook virtual screening of peptides derived from Lateolabrax japonicus, experimentally verifying the umami taste of three identified peptides and determining their corresponding receptors. This work not only advances our understanding of the mechanisms behind umami taste perception but also provides a rapid and cost-effective method for peptide screening. Rapid advancement of the rural digital economy has intensified the demand for leveraging digital tools to foster low-carbon and sustainable agricultural practices, garnering widespread academic and bureaucratic attention. Understanding how the rural digital economy influences agricultural carbon emissions is crucial for unlocking emission reduction potential, facilitating a transition towards sustainable energy usage in rural areas, and nurturing green agricultural development. In this study, we employ the entropy method, a spatial Durbin model, and a panel threshold model to assess the impact of the rural digital economy on agricultural carbon emissions across each province in China from 2010 to 2022. Additionally, we delve into the mechanism through which the rural digital economy facilitates agricultural carbon reduction, particularly in terms of "agricultural socialized services". Our findings reveal several key insights. Firstly, the rural digital economy contributes significantly to reducing agricultural carbon emission intensity. Secondly, there is a non-linear relationship between the rural digital economy and agricultural carbon emissions. With the development of rural digital economy showing a marginal decreasing trend, there is an obvious threshold effect. Thirdly, enhancing agricultural socialized services through the rural digital economy can curb agricultural carbon emissions. Lastly, the carbon reduction effect of the rural digital economy is more significant in more economically developed areas, areas with moderate levels of economic development, and areas with low technological investment; implementation of a "zero growth" policy for fertilizers strengthens this carbon reduction effect. Chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG), characterized by inflammation and erosion of the gastric lining, is a prevalent digestive disorder and considered a precursor to gastric cancer (GC). Coptis chinensis France (CCF) is renowned for its potent heat-clearing, detoxification, and anti-inflammatory properties. Zuojin Pill (ZJP), a classic Chinese medicine primarily composed of CCF, has demonstrated effectiveness in CAG treatment. This study aims to elucidate the potential mechanism of CCF treatment for CAG through a multifaceted approach encompassing network pharmacology, molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulation and experimental verification. The study identified three major active compounds of CCF and elucidated key pathways, such as TNF signaling, PI3K-Akt signaling and p53 signaling. Molecular docking revealed interactions between these active compounds and pivotal targets like PTGS2, TNF, MTOR, and TP53. Additionally, molecular dynamics simulation validated berberine as the primary active compound of CCF, which was further confirmed through experimental verification. This study not only identified berberine as the primary active compound of CCF but also provided valuable insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying CCF's efficacy in treating CAG. Adagrasib (MRTX849), an approved and promising KRAS G12C inhibitor, has shown the promising results for treating patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) or colorectal cancer (CRC) harboring KRAS-activating mutations. However, emergence of the acquired resistance limits its long-term efficacy and clinical application. Further understanding of the mechanism of the acquired resistance is crucial for developing more new effective therapeutic strategies. Herein, we firstly found a new connection between the acquired resistance to MRTX849 and nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2). The expression levels of Nrf2 and GLS1 proteins were substantially elevated in different CRC cell lines with the acquired resistance to MRTX849 in comparison with their corresponding parental cell lines. Next, we discovered that RA-V, one of natural cyclopeptides isolated from the roots of Rubia yunnanensis, could restore the response of resistant CRC cells to MRTX849. The results of molecular mechanisms showed that RA-V suppressed Nrf2 protein through the ubiquitin-proteasome-dependent degradation, leading to the induction of oxidative and ER stress, and DNA damage in CRC cell lines. Background: Numerous approaches have been utilized to optimize mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) performance in treating osteoarthritis (OA), however, the constrained diminished activity and chondrogenic differentiation capacity impede their therapeutic efficacy. Previous investigations have successfully shown that pretreatment with nanosecond pulsed electric fields (nsPEFs) significantly enhances the chondrogenic differentiation of MSCs. Therefore, this study aims to explore nsPEFs as a strategy to improve OA therapy by enhancing MSCs' activity and chondrogenic differentiation and also investigate its potential mechanism., Methods: In this study, a million MSCs were carefully suspended within a 0.4-cm gap cuvette and subjected to five pulses of nsPEFs (100 ns at 10 kV/cm, 1 Hz), with a 1-s interval between each pulse. A control group of MSCs was maintained without nsPEFs treatment for comparative analysis. nsPEFs were applied to regulate the MSCs performance and hinder OA progresses. In order to further explore the corresponding mechanism, we examined the changes of MSCs transcriptome after nsPEF pretreatment. Finally, we studied the properties of extracellular vesicles (EVs) secreted by MSCs affected by nsPEF and the therapeutic effect on OA., Results: We found that nsPEFs pretreatment promoted MSCs migration and viability, particularly enhancing their viability temporarily in vivo , which is also confirmed by mRNA sequencing analysis. It also significantly inhibited the development of OA-like chondrocytes in vitro and prevented OA progression in rat models. Additionally, we discovered that nsPEFs pretreatment reprogrammed MSC performance by enhancing EVs production (5.77 ± 0.92 folds), and consequently optimizing their therapeutic potential., Conclusions: In conclusion, nsPEFs pretreatment provides a simple and effective strategy for improving the MSCs performance and the therapeutic effects of MSCs for OA. Study Objective: To explore the effectiveness of transvaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery extraperitoneal sacral hysteropexy (vNOTES-ESH) in women with symptomatic uterine prolapse over a 2 year follow-up., Design: Retrospective cohort study., Setting: Gynecological minimally invasive center., Patients: Women undergoing sacral hysteropexy either by vNOTES (n = 25) or laparoscopic (n = 74) between November 2016 and December 2020., Interventions: Both vNOTES-ESH and laparoscopic sacral hysteropexy (LAP-SH) were used for uterine prolapse. Demographic data, operative characteristics, perioperative outcomes, and follow-up information 2 years postsurgery in the 2 groups were retrospectively evaluated., Results: Both procedures showed similar operation time, estimated blood loss, hospital stays, and pain scores (p >0.05). During a median follow-up of 59 (24-72) months, the surgical success rate was 96% for vNOTES-ESH and 97.3% for LAP-SH (p >0.05), with no differences in anatomical position or pelvic organ function after the operation. Women in the LAP-SH group experienced more bothersome symptoms of constipation compared to those in the vNOTES-ESH group (5.41% vs 0, p <0.05). Lastly, 1 case in the vNOTES-ESH group had a mesh exposed area of less than 1 cm 2 , and 1 patient in the LAP-SH group experienced stress incontinence., Conclusions: In this retrospective study, vNOTES-ESH met our patients' preference for uterine preservation and was a successful and effective treatment for uterine prolapse, providing good functional improvement in our follow-up. The aim of this work was to evaluate the potentials of porous starch (PS) and its octenyl succinic anhydride modified product (OSAPS) as efficient carriers for loading naringin (NA), focusing on encapsulation efficiency (EE, the percentage of adsorbed naringin relative to its initial amount), drug loading (DL, the percentage of naringin in the complex), structural alterations, solubilization and in vitro release of NA using unmodified starch (UMS) and NA as controls. Both the pore diameter and S BET value of PS decreased after esterification with OSA, and a thinner strip-shaped NA (∼145 nm) was observed in the OSAPS-NA complex and (∼150 nm) in the PS-NA complex. OSAPS exhibited reduced short-range ordered structure, as indicated by a lower R1047/1022 (0.73) compared to PS (0.77). Meanwhile, lowest crystallinity (12.81 %) of NA was found in OSAPS-NA. OSAPS-NA exhibited higher EE and DL for NA than PS-NA and a significant increase in NA saturated solubility in deionized water (by 11.63-fold) and simulated digestive fluids (by 24.95-fold) compared to raw NA. Particulate inorganic nitrogen aerosols (PIN) significantly influence air pollution and pose health risks worldwide. Despite extensive observations on ammonium (pNH 4 + ) and nitrate (pNO 3 - ) aerosols in various regions, their key sources and mechanisms in the Tibetan Plateau remain poorly understood. To bridge this gap, this study conducted a sampling campaign in Lhasa, the Tibetan Plateau's largest city, with a focus on analyzing the multiple isotopic signatures (δ 15 N, ∆ 17 O). These isotopes were integrated into a Bayesian mixing model to quantify the source contributions and oxidation pathways for pNH 4 + and pNO 3 - . Our results showed that traffic was the largest contributor to pNH 4 + (31.8 %), followed by livestock (25.4 %), waste (21.8 %), and fertilizer (21.0 %), underscoring the impact of vehicular emissions on urban NH 3 levels in Lhasa. For pNO 3 - , coal combustion emerged as the largest contributor (27.3 %), succeeded by biomass burning (26.3 %), traffic emission (25.3 %), and soil emission (21.1 %). In addition, the ∆ 17 O-based model indicated a dominant role of NO 2  + OH (52.9 %) in pNO 3 - production in Lhasa, which was similar to previous observations. However, it should be noted that the NO 3  + volatile organic component (VOC) contributed up to 18.5 % to pNO 3 - production, which was four times higher than the Tibetan Plateau's background regions. Phytochemical investigations of the leaves of Astragalus membranaceus (Fisch.) Bge. have led to the isolation of 12 undescribed triterpenoid saponins named huangqiyenins M-X. The structures of the undescribed compounds were determined using NMR and HRESIMS data. The cytotoxicity of these compounds against the RKO and HT-29 colon cancer cell lines was evaluated. Among these compounds, huangqiyenin W exhibited the highest cytotoxic activity against RKO colon cancer cells, whereas huangqiyenin Q and W showed moderate cytotoxic activity against HT-29 colon cancer cells. Dual isotopes of nitrogen and oxygen of NO 3 - are crucial tools for quantifying the formation pathways and precursor NO x sources contributing to atmospheric nitrate. However, further research is needed to reduce the uncertainty associated with NO x proportional contributions. The acquisition of nitrogen isotopic composition from NO x emission sources lacks regulation, and its impact on the accuracy of contribution results remains unexplored. This study identifies key influencing factors of source isotopic composition through statistical methods, based on a detailed summary of δ 15 N-NO x values from various sources. NO x emission sources are classified considering these factors, and representative means, standard deviations, and 95 % confidence intervals are determined using the bootstrap method. During the sampling period in Tianjin in 2022, the proportional nitrate formation pathways varied between sites. For suburban and coastal sites, the ranking was [Formula: see text] (NO 2  + OH radical) > [Formula: see text] (N 2 O 5  + H 2 O) > [Formula: see text] (NO 3  + DMS/HC), while the rural site exhibited similar fractional contributions from all three formation pathways. Fossil fuel NO x sources consistently contributed more than non-fossil NO x sources in each season among three sites. The uncertainties in proportional contributions varied among different sources, with coal combustion and biogenic soil emission showing lower uncertainties, suggesting more stable proportional contributions than other sources. The sensitivity analysis clearly identifies that the isotopic composition of 15 N-enriched and 15 N-reduced sources significantly influences source contribution results, emphasizing the importance of accurately characterizing the localized and time-efficient nitrogen isotopic composition of NO x emission sources. Prometryn has been extensively detected in marine environment because of its widespread usage in agriculture and aquaculture and has been concerns since its serious effects on aquatic organisms. However, its impact on the microbial community in the marine ecosystem including seawater and biofilm is still unclear. Therefore, a short-term indoor microcosm experiment of prometryn exposure was conducted. This study found that prometryn had a more significant impact on the structure and stability of the microbial community in seawater compared to microplastic biofilms. Additionally, we observed that the assembly of the microbial community in biofilms was more affected by stochastic processes than in seawater under the exposure of prometryn. The wound microenvironment-responsive hydrogel, featuring a dually cross-linked architecture, offers distinct advantages in the realm of drug delivery due to its exceptional mechanical properties and responsiveness to stimuli. In this investigation, a versatile dually cross-linked hydrogel was synthesized. The initial framework was established through non-covalent interactions employing a self-assembling peptide indomethacin-Gly-Phe-Phe-Tyr-Gly-Arg-Gly-Asp (abbreviated as IDM-1), while the second framework underwent chemical cross-linking of chitosan (CS) mediated by genipin. This dually-network arrangement significantly bolstered the structure, proving effective for hemostatic control. In addition, hydrogels can be triggered for degradation by proteases highly expressed in the wound microenvironment, releasing drugs like indomethacin (IDM) and CS. This characteristic introduced efficient multi-faceted wound management in vitro and in vivo, such as anti-inflammatory and antibacterial activities, ultimately augmenting the wound healing process. Given the increasing concern about the destructive impact of sympathetic activities on the Earth, involving the next generation in environmental conservation is crucial. Therefore, this study aims to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual reality (VR) can strengthen college students' environmental awareness and encourage them to make a move on environmental issues. Four hundred college students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds participated in a six-month study, and 375 valid questionnaires were successfully collected. By combining AI and VR, we provided interactive and engaging courses to deliver knowledge about environmental issues and inevitable disasters. The research demonstrates that using AI and VR technologies to teach environmental challenges can significantly improve college students' understanding of these topics, assist them in developing a conservationist value system, and provoke them to carry on environmental advocacy. This study adopted scale items to measure college students' environmental awareness and activities. More isolated structural equation modeling validated the value of AI and VR in environmental education. Additionally, mediation and moderation analyses indicated that the strength of college students' ecological susceptibility and motivation indirectly influenced their enthusiasm and environmental awareness through AI and VR. Through comparative analysis, we found that AI and VR exert differential effects on college students. Further correlational and regression analyses demonstrated that raising college students' environmental awareness can effectively promote their pro-environmental behavior, offering them more critical agency, possibly without the need for continued use of AI and VR. Therefore, employing AI and VR in environmental education may effectively help young people in ecological sustainability. Background: The effects of heavy metal exposure on immunological function have sparked widespread concern, but unequivocal evidence on the association between mixed metal exposure and novel systemic inflammatory indexes remains scarce., Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the associations of heavy metals with two novel systemic inflammation indexes and the mediated effects of serum albumin., Methods: Nineteen metals were detected among 4082 U.S. adults based on the NHANES. A linear regression, restricted cubic splines (RCS) regression, weighted quantile sum (WQS), Quantile-based Gcomputation (qgcomp), and Bayesian kernel machine regression (BKMR) were conducted to evaluate the associations of single metal and mixed metals with systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and systemic inflammation response index (SIRI) levels, respectively. A series of subgroup analyses were used to identify potentially vulnerable populations. Furthermore, we conducted mediation analyses to investigate the mediated effects of serum albumin on the associations of metals with SII and SIRI., Results: In the single-exposure model, exposure to various metals such as urinary Co, As, and serum Zn, Cu was associated with SII and SIRI (P FDR <0.05). Simultaneously, the above metals were linear positively correlated with SII and SIRI. Mixed-exposure analyses consistently showed that overall mixed urinary metal levels were positively pertinent for SII and SIRI levels, and the metal Co played a significant role in the urinary metal mixtures. Subgroup analyses showed that exposure to urinary Cd in men and elderly people increased SII and SIRI levels. Octenyl succinic anhydride modified porous starch (OSA-PS) with degrees of substitution (DS) from 0.0123 to 0.0427 were prepared by aqueous phase method. From SEM, PS had a porous structure which showed a rough and corrosive surface after esterification with OSA. FT-IR revealed the characteristic peaks of OSA-PS at 1725 cm -1 and 1570 cm -1 . From 1 H NMR spectra, OSA-PS displayed extra chemical signal peaks at 0.85 ppm, 1.25 ppm and 1.96 ppm. These results fully demonstrated that OSA groups were successfully grafted onto PS. Furthermore, as DS increased, the specific surface area (5.6464 m 2 /g), pore volume (0.9959 × 10 -2  cm 3 /g) and methylene blue adsorption capacity (24.3962 mg/g) of OSA-PS reached the maximum, while its relative crystallinity (26.8112 %) and maximum thermal decomposition temperature (291.96 °C) were the minimum. In vitro digestion studies showed that with the increase of DS, OSA-PS' contents of rapidly digestible starch and slowly digestible starch decreased from 9.06 % to 6.27 % and 28.38 % to 14.61 %, respectively. In contrast, its resistant starch had an increase in content from 62.56 % to 79.12%. Co-culturing the marine-derived fungi Penicillium janthinellium with Paecilomyces formosus led to the isolation of nine new indole-diterpenes, janthinellumines A-I (1-9), along with twelve known analogues (10-21). The chemical structures including their absolute configurations of them were assigned by the analysis of extensive spectroscopic data and calculated ECD and VCD methods. These indole-diterpenoids displayed extensive biological activities, including anti-influenza A virus, protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) inhibitory, and anti-Vibrio activities. Aim: To estimate the age-standardized incidence, prevalence, and mortality rates of autoimmune diseases including rheumatoid arthritis (RA), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), multiple sclerosis (MS), type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), asthma, and psoriasis in women of childbearing age from 1990 to 2019, and to further analyze their changing trends, at global, regional, and national levels., Methods: Women of childbearing age was defined as 15-49 years old. The estimates and 95% uncertainty intervals (UIs) for case number of RA, IBD, MS, T1DM, asthma and psoriasis in seven age groups (15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49 years) were extracted from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD) 2019. Age standardization by direct method was adopted to estimate the age-standardized incidence, prevalence, and mortality rates of these autoimmune diseases in women of childbearing age. Joinpoint regression analysis was utilized to analyze the changing trends of estimated age-standardized incidence, prevalence, and mortality rates from 1990 to 2019 by calculating the average annual percentage change (AAPC) and its 95% confidence intervals (CIs)., Results: In 2019, the estimated global age-standardized incidence, prevalence, and mortality rates of RA in women of childbearing age was 17.13 (95% UI: 12.39 to 22.60), 215.86 (95% UI: 179.04 to 259.70), and 0.06 (95% UI: 0.04 to 0.08); of IBD was 5.85 (95% UI: 4.72 to 7.12), 63.54 (95% UI: 53.50 to 74.37), and 0.11 (95% UI: 0.08 to 0.13); of MS was 1.63 (95% UI: 1.05 to 2.28), 28.74 (95% UI: 23.80 to 34.46), and 0.17 (95% UI: 0.14 to 0.27); of T1DM was 6.22 (95% UI: 2.75 to 11.50), 290.51 (95% UI: 221.39 to 370.19), and 0.63 (95% UI: 0.48 to 0.78); of asthma was 291.14 (95% UI: 157.06 to 468.78), 2796.25 (95%UI: 1987.07 to 3842.97), and 1.42 (95% UI: 1.12 to 1.75), respectively. The estimated global age-standardized incidence and prevalence rates of psoriasis in women of childbearing age was 58.68 (95% UI: 51.04 to 66.85) and 477.20 (95% UI: 440.30 to 515.76). Highest disease burden generally exists in Region of the Americas and European Region. From 1990 to 2019, the estimated global age-standardized incidence and prevalence rates of RA (AAPC: 0.18, 95% CI: 0.11 to 0.24; AAPC: 0.24, 95% CI: 0.18 to 0.30) and T1DM (AAPC: 1.47, 95% CI: 1.40 to 1.54; AAPC: 0.83, 95% CI: 0.79 to 0.88) in women of childbearing age showed significantly increasing trends whereas those of IBD (AAPC: -0.76, 95% CI: -0.80 to -0.73; AAPC: -0.65, 95% CI: -0.70 to -0.60), MS (AAPC: -0.20, 95% CI: -0.23 to -0.16; AAPC: -0.25, 95% CI: -0.26 to -0.23), asthma (AAPC: -0.53, 95% CI: -0.60 to -0.47; AAPC: -0.74, 95% CI: -0.81 to -0.68), and psoriasis (AAPC: -0.83, 95% CI: -0.85 to -0.82; AAPC: -0.99, 95% CI: -1.02 to -0.96) showed significantly decreasing trends. Favorably, the estimated global age-standardized mortality rate of RA (AAPC: -1.32, 95% CI: -1.63 to -1.01), IBD (AAPC: -0.95, 95% CI: -1.06 to -0.84), MS (AAPC: -0.96, 95% CI: -1.12 to -0.80), T1DM (AAPC: -1.05, 95% CI: -1.21 to -0.89), and asthma (AAPC: -2.27, 95% CI: -2.34 to -2.19) in women of childbearing age all declined. Hemorrhagic stroke (HS) is associated with severe morbidity and high mortality. Identifying the trigger factors for HS is critical for disease prevention. This study aimed to assess the associations between short-term environmental triggers (STETs) and HS risk. We systematically searched six databases for articles published up to September 9, 2022. Pooled odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) were calculated using random-effect models to evaluate the associations between STETs and the risk of HS. Heterogeneity was assessed using Cochran Q and I 2 tests. A total of 63 studies were included for analysis. Of these, 40 focused on air pollutants and 23 on meteorological factors. Pooling results showed that exposure to particulate matter 2.5 (PM 2.5; OR, 1.003 per 10 μg/m 3 ; 95% CI, 1.001-1.007), sulfur dioxide (SO 2; OR, 1.022 per 10 ppb; 95% CI, 1.005-1.040), and nitrogen dioxide (NO 2; OR, 1.026 per 10 ppb; 95% CI, 1.004-1.047) was associated with an increase in HS risk. Moreover, exposure to PM 2.5 (OR, 1.018 per 10 μg/m 3 ; 95% CI, 1.009-1.027) and SO 2 (OR, 1.102 per 10 ppb; 95% CI, 1.010-1.204) was positively associated with the risk of intracerebral hemorrhage. In addition, extreme temperature, high pressures, high and low relative humidity were potentially associated with HS risk. Targeted preventive measures to limit the effect of these air pollutants and extreme meteorological factors should be taken to reduce the HS disease burden. Nanoplastic is increasing in environments and can address toxic effects on various organisms. Particle size, concentration, and surface functionalization most influence nanoplastic toxicity. Besides, nanoplastic can adsorb other contaminants (e.g., antibiotics) to aggravate its adverse effects. The combined effects of nanoplastics and antibiotics on planktonic/benthic microbial communities, however, are still largely unknown. In this study, the combined effects of polystyrene nanoplastic and ofloxacin on the structure, assembly, and metabolic activities of marine microbial communities were investigated based on amplicon sequencing data. The results mainly demonstrate that: (1) nanoplastic and ofloxacin have greater impacts on prokaryotic communities than eukaryotic ones; (2) niche breadths of planktonic prokaryotes and benthic eukaryotes were shrank with both high nanoplastic and ofloxacin concentrations; (3) increased ofloxacin mainly reduces nodes/edges of co-occurrence networks, while nanoplastic centralizes network modularity; (4) increased nanoplastic under high ofloxacin concentration induces more differential prokaryotic pathways in planktonic communities, while benthic communities are less influenced. While geogenic arsenic (As) contamination of aquifers have been intensively investigated across the world, the mobilization and transport of As from anthropogenic sources have received less scientific attention, despite emerging evidence of poor performance of widely used risk assessment models. In this study we hypothesize that such poor model performance is largely due to insufficient attention to heterogeneous subsurface properties, including the hydraulic conductivity K and the solid-liquid partition (K d ), as well as neglect of laboratory-to-field scaling effects. Our multi-method investigation includes i) inverse transport modelling, ii) in-situ measurements of As concentrations in paired samples of soil and groundwater, and iii) batch equilibrium experiments combined with (iv) geochemical modelling. As case study we use a unique 20-year series of spatially distributed monitoring data, capturing an expanding As plume in a Chromated Copper Arsenate (CCA)-contaminated anoxic aquifer in southern Sweden. The in-situ results showed a high variability in local K d values of As (1 to 107 L kg -1 ), implying that over-reliance of data from only one or few locations can lead to interpretations that are inconsistent with field-scale As transport. However, the geometric mean of the local K d values (14.4 L kg -1 ) showed high consistency with the independently estimated field-scale "effective K d " derived from inverse transport modelling (13.6 L kg -1 ). This provides empirical evidence for the relevance of using geometric averaging when estimating large-scale "effective K d " values from local measurements within highly heterogenous, isotropic aquifers. Overall, the considered As plume is prolonged by about 0.7 m year -1 , now starting to extend beyond the borders of the industrial source area, a problem likely shared with many of the world's As-polluted sites. A comprehensive investigation was conducted to explore the distributions of total mercury (THg) and methylmercury (MeHg) in sediments and porewater along a typical transect from the Yangtze River Estuary (YRE) to the East China Sea (ECS) open shelf. THg concentrations in the surface sediments exhibited large variations across sites, higher in the estuary mixing region, especially within the turbidity maximum zone (TMZ). The spatial and vertical distributions (0-20 cm) of THg in sediments were highly controlled by sediment grain size and total organic carbon (TOC), due to the strong binding between Hg and fine-grained sediments that enriched with organic matter. In contrast, MeHg concentrations in surface sediments were higher in the estuary mixing region and the ECS open shelf than in the river channel, with remarkably higher MeHg/THg ratios in sediments and porewater at the open shelf sites, identified as the regional hotspots of the net in situ MeHg production. Considering the large gradients of physiochemical properties of sediments, porewater and the overlying water, the results of this study suggested that the higher net Hg methylation potential in the open shelf region was largely attributed to the lower acid volatile sulfide, lower TOC and higher salinity, which facilitated the partitioning of inorganic Hg into porewater that highly bioavailable for Hg-methylation bacteria. The advent of optically pumped magnetometer-based magnetoencephalography (OPM-MEG) has introduced new tools for neuroscience and clinical research. As it is still under development, the achievable performance of OPM-MEG remains to be tested, particularly in terms of source localization accuracy, which can be influenced by various factors, including software and hardware aspects. A feasible approach to comprehensively test the performance of the OPM-MEG system is to utilize a phantom that simulates the actual electrophysiological properties of the head while ensuring the precise locations of dipole sources. However, conventional water or dry phantoms can only simulate a single-sphere head model. In this work, a more realistic three-layer phantom was designed and fabricated. The proposed phantom included the scalp, skull, and cortex tissues of the head, as well as the simulated dipole sources. The scalp and cortex tissues were simulated using an electrolyte solution, while the dipole source was constructed from a coaxial cable. All main structures in the phantom were produced using 3D printing techniques, making the phantom easy to manufacture. The fabricated phantom was tested on a 36-channel OPM-MEG system, and the results showed that the dipole source inside the phantom could generate a magnetic field distribution on the scalp that was close to its theoretical values. The average source localization accuracy of 5.51 mm verified the effectiveness of the designed phantom and the performance of our OPM-MEG system. Autoimmune eye diseases (AEDs), a collection of autoimmune inflammatory ocular conditions resulting from the dysregulation of immune system at the ocular level, can target both intraocular and periorbital structures leading to severe visual deficit and blindness globally. The roles of air pollution and meteorological factors in the initiation and progression of AEDs have been increasingly attractive, among which the systemic and local mechanisms are both involved in. Exposure to excessive air pollution and extreme meteorological conditions including PM 2.5 /PM 0.1 , environmental tobacco smoke, insufficient sunshine, and high temperature, etc., can disturb Th17/Treg balance, regulate macrophage polarization, activate neutrophils, induce systemic inflammation and oxidative stress, decrease retinal blood flow, promote tissue fibrosis, activate sympathetic nervous system, adversely affect nutrients synthetization, as well as induce heat stress, therefore may together deteriorate AEDs. The crosstalk among inflammation, oxidative stress and dysregulated immune system appeared to be prominent. In the present review, we will concern and summarize the potential mechanisms underlying linkages of air pollution and meteorological factors to ocular autoimmune and inflammatory responses. Aim: To describe current situation and analyze temporal trends of prevalence for four autoimmune diseases including rheumatoid arthritis (RA), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), multiple sclerosis (MS) and psoriasis, at the global, continental, and national levels., Methods: The estimates and 95% uncertainty interval (UI) for age-standardized prevalence rate (ASPR) of RA, IBD, MS and psoriasis were obtained from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD) 2019. ASPR of RA, IBD, MS and psoriasis in 2019 was illustrated at the global, continental, and national levels. Joinpoint regression analysis was adopted to analyze the 1990-2019 temporal trends by calculating the annual percentage change (APC) and average APC (AAPC), as well as their 95% confidence interval (CI)., Results: In 2019, the global ASPR of RA, IBD, MS and psoriasis was 224.25 (95% UI: 204.94 to 245.99), 59.25 (95% UI: 52.78 to 66.47), 21.25 (95% UI: 18.52 to 23.91) and 503.62 (95% UI: 486.92 to 519.22), respectively, with ASPRs generally higher in Europe and America than in Africa and Asia. From 1990 to 2019, the global ASPR increased significantly for RA (AAPC = 0.27%, 95% CI: 0.24 to 0.30; P < 0.001) and decreased significantly for IBD (AAPC = -0.73%, 95% CI: -0.76 to -0.70; P < 0.001), MS (AAPC = -0.22%, 95% CI: -0.25 to -0.18; P < 0.001) and psoriasis (AAPC = -0.93%, 95% CI: -0.95 to -0.91; P < 0.001), with the most substantial changes occurring at different continents and periods. Background: This study aimed to verify the effectiveness, safety, and reliability of the breast biopsy and circumferential excision system., Methods: It was designed as a multicenter, randomized, open-label, positive control, noninferiority trial. A total of 168 subjects who met the breast lesion screening requirements of the clinical trial protocol were randomly divided into a breast biopsy and circumferential excision dual cutting system test group or Mammotome control group. The main outcome was the successful removal rate of suspected lumps during surgery. Secondary outcomes included the operative times for individual lumps, weight of removed cord tissue, and several indicators of device performance. Safety indicators, including routine blood, blood biochemical and electrocardiogram examinations, were measured at baseline and 24 hours and 48 hours after the operation. Postoperative complications and combined medication use were observed and recorded until 7 days after the operation., Results: The results showed no significant differences in efficacy and safety between the 2 groups (main efficacy, P = .7463; all secondary efficacy indicators, P > .05, except weight of removed cord tissue [P = .0070] and touch sensitivity of the device interface [P = .0275]; all safety indicators, P > .05). Aims: Montelukast is an antagonist of cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1 (CysLTR1) that protects against inflammation and oxidative stress. However, the function of montelukast in liver fibrosis remains unknown. In this study, we examined whether the pharmacological inhibition of CysLTR1 could protect mice against hepatic fibrosis., Materials and Methods: Carbon tetrachloride (CCl 4 ) and methionine-choline deficient (MCD) diet models were used in this study. The expression of CysLTR1 in liver were detected by RT-qPCR and Western blot analysis. Liver hydroxyproline levels, fibrotic genes expression, serum biochemical indexes and inflammatory factors were used to evaluate the effect of montelukast on liver fibrosis, injury, and inflammation. In vitro, we used the RT-qPCR and Western blot analysis to assess CysLTR1 in mouse primary hepatic stellate cell (HSC) and human LX-2 cell line. The role of montelukast on HSC activation and the underlying mechaisms were determined using RT-qPCR analysis, Western blot and immunostaining assays., Key Findings: Chronic stimulation from CCl 4 and MCD diet upregulated the mRNA and protein levels of CysLTR1 in the liver. Pharmacological inhibition of CysLTR1 by montelukast ameliorated liver inflammation and fibrosis in both models. Mechanistically, montelukast suppressed HSC activation by targeting the TGFβ/Smad pathway in vitro. The hepatoprotective effect of montelukast was also associated with reduced liver injury and inflammation., Significance: Montelukast suppressed CCl 4 - and MCD-induced chronic hepatic inflammation and liver fibrosis. Understanding the probability distributions of precipitation is crucial for predicting climatic events and constructing hydraulic facilities. To overcome the inadequacy of precipitation data, regional frequency analysis was commonly used by "trading space for time". However, with the increasing availability of gridded precipitation datasets with high spatial and temporal resolutions, the probability distributions of precipitation for these datasets have been less explored. We used L-moments and goodness-of-fit criteria to identify the probability distributions of annual, seasonal, and monthly precipitation for a 0.5° × 0.5° dataset across the Loess Plateau (LP). We examined five 3-parameter distributions, namely General Extreme Value (GEV), Generalized Logistic (GLO), Generalized Pareto (GPA), Generalized Normal (GNO), and Pearson type III (PE3), and evaluated the accuracy of estimated rainfall using the leave-one-out method. We also presented pixel-wise fit-parameters and quantiles of precipitation as supplements. Our findings indicated that precipitation probability distributions vary by location and time scale, and the fitted probability distribution functions are reliable for estimating precipitation under various return periods. Specifically, for annual precipitation, GLO was prevalent in humid and semi-humid areas, GEV in semi-arid and arid areas, and PE3 in cold-arid areas. For seasonal precipitation, spring precipitation mainly conforms to GLO distribution, summer precipitation around the 400 mm isohyet prevalently follows GEV distribution, autumn precipitation primarily meets GPA and PE3 distributions, and winter precipitation in the northwest, south, and east of the LP mainly conforms to GPA, PE3 and GEV distributions, respectively. Regarding monthly precipitation, the common distribution functions are PE3 and GPA for the less-precipitation months, whereas the distribution functions of precipitation for more-precipitation months vary substantially across different regions of the LP. The accuracy and timeliness of the pathologic diagnosis of soft tissue tumors (STTs) critically affect treatment decision and patient prognosis. Thus, it is crucial to make a preliminary judgement on whether the tumor is benign or malignant with hematoxylin and eosin-stained images. A deep learning-based system, Soft Tissue Tumor Box (STT-BOX), is presented herein, with only hematoxylin and eosin images for malignant STT identification from benign STTs with histopathologic similarity. STT-BOX assumed gastrointestinal stromal tumor as a baseline for malignant STT evaluation, and distinguished gastrointestinal stromal tumor from leiomyoma and schwannoma with 100% area under the curve in patients from three hospitals, which achieved higher accuracy than the interpretation of experienced pathologists. Particularly, this system performed well on six common types of malignant STTs from The Cancer Genome Atlas data set, accurately highlighting the malignant mass lesion. STT-BOX was able to distinguish ovarian malignant sex-cord stromal tumors without any fine-tuning. This study included mesenchymal tumors that originated from the digestive system, bone and soft tissues, and reproductive system, where the high accuracy of migration verification may reveal the morphologic similarity of the nine types of malignant tumors. Further evaluation in a pan-STT setting would be potential and prospective, obviating the overuse of immunohistochemistry and molecular tests, and providing a practical basis for clinical treatment selection in a timely manner., (Copyright © 2023 American Society for Investigative Pathology. Aim: To describe burden, and to explore cross-country inequalities across sociodemographic development levels for four autoimmune diseases (ADs) including rheumatoid arthritis (RA), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), multiple sclerosis (MS) and psoriasis (PS)., Methods: The estimates and their 95% uncertainty interval (UI) for disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) of RA, IBD, MS and PS were extracted from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD) 2019. Age-standardized DALYs rate (ASDR) across 204 countries, as well as age and sex distribution of global DALYs rate of these four ADs were illustrated. Slope index of inequality and concentration index, which are two standard metrics of absolute and relative gradient inequality recommended by World Health Organization (WHO), were utilized to quantify the distributive inequalities in the burden of ADs., Results: In 2019, the ASDR of RA, IBD, MS and PS varied remarkably across 204 countries, with different age and sex distribution of global DALYs rate. The slope index of inequality changed from 26.7 (95% CI: 20.7 to 32.8) in 1990 to 40.3 (95% CI: 31.9 to 48.7) in 2019 for RA, from 17.1 (95% CI: 12.4 to 21.7) in 1990 to 25.2 (95% CI: 20.1 to 30.2) in 2019 for IBD, from 19.3 (95% CI: 15.2 to 23.4) in 1990 to 28.9 (95% CI: 24.2 to 33.5) in 2019 for MS, from 42.3 (95% CI: 33.1 to 51.6) in 1990 to 40.2 (95% CI: 32.5 to 48.0) in 2019 for PS. Moreover, the concentration index showed 20.4 (95% CI: 18.9 to 22.0) in 1990 and 18.2 (95% CI: 16.7 to 19.6) in 2019 for RA, 25.0 (95% CI: 23.0 to 27.1) in 1990 and 33.5 (95% CI: 31.6 to 35.5) in 2019 for IBD, 46.7 (95% CI: 44.0 to 49.3) in 1990 and 41.8 (95% CI: 39.6 to 44.1) in 2019 for MS, 31.7 (95% CI: 29.0 to 34.4) in 1990 and 32.6 (95% CI: 29.9 to 35.2) in 2019 for PS., Conclusions: There is a strong heterogeneity in ASDR across all countries, as well as in age and sex distribution of global DALYs rate for four ADs including RA, IBD, MS and PS. ATP-binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1) plays a crucial role in atherosclerotic formation through mediated cholesterol efflux in macrophage-derived foam cells. In this study, a scavenger receptors AI (SR-AI) targeted theranostic nanoparticles was constructed for atherosclerosis regression via ABCA1 activation in foam cells. ABCA1-upregulator 5242331 and IR780 were encapsulated in PLGA-PEG micelles which were conjugated with SR-AI targeting peptide (PP1) to formulate the nanoparticles (SAU-NPs). Immunostaining revealed that SR-AI was highly expressed both in macrophage foam cells and in atherosclerotic plaque of ApoE -/- mice. The SAU-NPs have shown more active targeting to plaque lesion with higher stability compared with non-SR-AI targeted nanoparticles. The transformation from macrophage to foam cells was inhibited by SAU-NPs carried 5242331. Cholesterol deposition was effectively reduced in foam cells by SAU-NPs through activating the LXRα-ABCA1/ABCG1/SR-BI pathway. Soil cadmium (Cd) contamination is a global environmental and food safety production issue. microRNAs (miRNAs) are proven to be involved in plant growth and development, and abiotic/biotic stress response, but their role in Cd tolerance is largely unknown in maize. To understand the genetic basis of Cd tolerance, two maize genotypes differing in Cd tolerance (L42, a sensitive genotype and L63, a tolerant genotype) were selected, and miRNA sequencing was carried out at nine-day-old seedlings exposed to 24 h Cd stress (5 μM CdCl 2 ). A total of 151 differentially expressed miRNAs were identified, including 20 known miRNAs and 131 novel miRNAs. The results revealed that 90 and 22 miRNAs were up-regulated and down-regulated by Cd in Cd-tolerant genotype L63, and there were 23 and 43 miRNAs in Cd-sensitive genotype L42, respectively. Twenty-six miRNAs were up-regulated in L42 and unchanged or down-regulated in L63, or unchanged in L42 and down-regulated in L63. There were 108 miRNAs that were up-regulated in L63 and unchanged or down-regulated in L42, or unchanged in L63 and down-regulated in L42. Their target genes were enriched mainly in peroxisomes, glutathione (GSH) metabolism, ABC transporter, and ubiquitin-protease system. Among them, target genes involved in the peroxisome pathway and GSH metabolism might play key roles in Cd tolerance in L63. Besides, several ABC transporters which might involve in Cd uptake and transport were identified.
