A robust and transparent watermarking scheme based on contourlet transform and quantization index modulation is proposed in this paper. In proposal algorithm, after taking contourlet, the coefficients are divided into three quadrants by using the symmetric property of the contourlet coefficients, then the angle coefficients are modulated for each of three points. The experimental results revealed that if the information of the image is utilized to determine the watermark and by using quantization index modulation properties, a higher robustness and more effective imperceptibility in proposed algorithm are achieved.

Introduction: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) exerts a great impact on the placenta and reflects changes on placentas both morphological and functionally. The aims of this study are to evaluate the prevalence of placental histopathological lesions in pregnancies complicated by GDM compared to gestational age-matched controls, and their association with maternal and fetal complications., Methods: Fifty-four singleton GDM-complicated pregnancies were recruited and compared to 33 consecutive normal pregnancies. Two pathologists, blinded to all clinical data, reviewed and evaluated all histological samples of the placentas in accordance with Amsterdam criteria. Relevant demographic, clinical data and primary birth outcomes were recorded., Results: A myriad of histomorphological abnormalities, including chronic inflammation (n = 9/54, p = 0.031), histological chorioamnionitis (n = 23/54, p < 0.001), umbilical/chorionic vasculitis (n = 9/54, p = 0.031), changes related to maternal vascular malperfusion (n = 22/54, p = 0.003), chorangiosis (n = 10/54, p = 0.046) and villous dysmaturity (n = 9/54, p = 0.012) were observed more frequently in the GDM placentas compared to the controls. Additionally, GDM significantly increased the risk of fetal complications, including macrosomia/fetal growth restriction (n = 13/54, p = 0.004)., Discussion: Histoarchitectural abnormalities were observed more frequently in placentas of GDM pregnancies compared to the controls. Purpose: Cervical cancer (CC) screening remains challenging, where the motivational focus towards utilizing CC screening services is rarely highlighted. This study aimed to understand the motivation to undergo CC screening from women and healthcare practitioners' perspectives based on Protection Motivation Theory (PMT)., Method: This qualitative study used the nominal group technique (NGT) and in-depth interview (IDI), where the NGT participants were healthcare practitioners from various disciplines (n = 12). Nominal group discussions were conducted via Zoom and involved one moderator, facilitator and observer. The IDI was conducted via Google Meet among seven women who had been included based on purposive sampling. All nominal group discussions and interviews were transcribed, verbatim and underwent deductive thematic analysis., Results: Healthcare practitioners emphasized input on CC knowledge of epidemiology, risk, etiology, nature, and outcome to encourage motivation. Women underlined their important role in the family, and reducing the negative perception as a motivational focus. Having living example of witnessing the CC patient dying and fear of stigma of cancer could be the driven force to undergo screening. Emphasis on the important of sufficient knowledge and correct the misconceptions towards screening could impart the motivation among women., Conclusions: The motivational focus was enriched by the differing perspectives of the healthcare practitioners and women. Introduction: The maternal endothelial dysfunction characteristic of preeclampsia arises, in part, from excessive placental production of anti-angiogenic factors, including soluble Flt-1, soluble endoglin and activin A, inducing oxidative stress. We assessed whether the antioxidant and NRF2-activator sulforaphane could mitigate endothelial and trophoblast dysfunction in vitro., Methods: We induced dysfunction in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) with TNF-α, assessing endothelial activation and dysfunction (endothelin-1, vascular cell adhesion molecule; VCAM1, intracellular adhesion molecule; ICAM1, e-selectin and endothelial permeability) in the presence or absence of sulforaphane. We also assessed the effects of sulforaphane in mitigating hypoxic and hyperoxic injury in term placental explants by measuring secretion of anti-angiogenic factors. To assess the role of NRF2 we silenced NRF2 in HUVECs and primary trophoblast cells., Results: Sulforaphane reduced TNF-α mediated HUVEC secretion of endothelin-1, VCAM1, ICAM1 and E-selectin, and prevented increased endothelial permeability. In placental explants, sulforaphane reduced the secretion of soluble Flt-1, soluble endoglin and activin A. Sulforaphane induced activation and nuclear translocation of NRF2 in HUVECs, inducing heme oxygenase 1. NRF2 silencing blocked some but not all of sulforaphane's effects in HUVECs. NRF2 silencing did not prevent sulforaphane's inhibition of trophobast secretion of soluble Flt-1 or activin A., Conclusion: In reducing placental and endothelial oxidative stress, sulforaphane may offer a new adjuvant therapeutic approach for the treatment of preeclampsia., (Copyright © 2019 International Society for the Study of Hypertension in Pregnancy. ZnO with two different morphologies were used to study the inhibition of Streptococcus sobrinus and Streptococcus mutans which are closely associated with tooth cavity. Rod-like shaped ZnO-A and plate-like shaped ZnO-B were produced using a zinc boiling furnace. The nanopowders were characterized using energy filtered transmission electron microscopy (EFTEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and dynamic light scattering (DLS) to confirm the properties of the ZnO polycrystalline wurtzite structures. XRD results show that the calculated crystallite sizes of ZnO-A and ZnO-B were 36.6 and 39.4nm, respectively, whereas DLS revealed particle size distributions of 21.82nm (ZnO-A) and 52.21nm (ZnO-B). PL spectra showed ion vacancy defects related to green and red luminescence for both ZnO particles. These defects evolved during the generation of reactive oxygen species which contributed to the antibacterial activity. Antibacterial activity was investigated using microdilution technique towards S. sobrinus and S. mutans at different nanopowder concentrations. Results showed that ZnO-A exhibited higher inhibition on both bacteria compared with ZnO-B. Natural glutamate dehydrogenase (Pk-GDH) was purified from hyperthermophilic archaeon Pyrococcus sp. KOD1 to homogeneity and its activity and structure were compared with those of recombinant enzyme, which was expressed in Escherichia coli. Determination of the molecular weight of these enzymes by SDS-PAGE and gel filtration revealed that the natural enzyme was purified only as a hexameric form, whereas the recombinant enzyme was purified as both monomeric and hexameric forms. Determination of the enzymatic activities indicated that only the enzyme in a hexameric form is active. Moreover, it is noted that the specific activity of the hexameric form of the recombinant enzyme is much lower than that of the natural enzyme and that circular dichroism spectra of these enzymes are distinctly different from each other. These results suggest that the structure of the hexameric form of the recombinant enzyme with low specific activity (Type I) is different from that of the natural enzyme with high specific activity (Type II). Upon heat treatment (80 degrees C, 15 min), the Type I structure was effectively converted to Type II structure and the specific activity of the enzyme was increased by 2.6-fold. Likewise, upon heat treatment (70 degrees C for 15 min), the inactive monomeric form of the recombinant enzyme was at least partially associated with the hexameric form. These results indicate that high temperature plays an important role for proper folding and oligomerization of Pk-GDH.
