The article focuses on the decision of airlines to consider turboprop jets to replace the small regional jet due to increasing fuel costs. The high cost of operating the 50-seater small regional jet is posing challenge to carriers. In North America, where the 50-seater regional jet originated, airlines are outpacing the jet in an effort to survive. In addition, some carriers are considering the use of turboprops.
