Machine learning (ML) provides machines the ability to automatically learn from data and past experience to identify patterns and make predictions for new data with minimal human intervention. Comparing with other statistical technologies, ML can improve calculation continuously, making decisions automatically, and identifying trends and patterns automatically. Based on the fact more datasets open to public, improved computer calculation capability, and internet speed acceleration, machine learning algorithms develop fast in the past decades. Large number of new ML approaches are raised and updated in the last years. However, most of these designed approaches target on one specific dataset, therefore, generalization of these approaches are not verified. Besides on the specific-designed approach to one dataset, a great deal of pre-trained models (which are proposed by a large number of data) are open to public. However, most of these pre-trained ML models are also concerning to one special field and their performance is not ideal when applied to datasets in other fields. Consequently, improved ML approaches that can be applied in various fields are required. To design ML approaches available in various fields, four datasets from three application fields are employed to verify approaches designed in this study. Inner speech (IS) dataset belongs to biology field. The frequency bands of IS dataset are very low (from 0.5 Hz to 100 Hz). In this dataset, various signs are acted by inner speech during the experiment. Electroencephalogram (EEG) signals acquired during IS procedure and data are analyzed and classified. Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) bearing dataset is conducted by the mechanical school in CWRU. It is often used for bearing diagnosis approaches verification. Vibration signals are obtained when various faulty bearings are employed during the experiment. Vibration signals has a wide frequency bands from dozen Hz to thousand Hz. Another application field employed in this study is metalworking fluids (MWF). Acoustic Emission (AE) signals when a variety of MWF are applied during thread forming process are analyzed. Acoustic Emission signals are transient stress waves generated by the rapid release of energy from solid sources with frequency bands up to million Hz. According to the MWF types, two experiments are conducted and relevant AE signals are acquired. In the first experiment (dataset MWF19) only emulsion-based MWF are applied. Both emulsion-based and oil-based MWF are used in the second experiment (dataset MWF16). According to the different highlights and steps in machine learning, three categories with 5 sub approaches are designed in this study. Approach 1 contains few steps on data processing - data selection, segmentation, and classification. In this approach, signals are analyzed in time domain. Concentration of approach 1 is on classifier (convolution neural network (CNN)) structure and hyperparameters referring to training algorithms designing and tuning. Convolution neural network is designed according to samples length and functionality of each layer. Beside the CNN structure and hyperparameters in CNN, a new data processing method is designed for various phases differentiation in one measurement. As the boundaries among different phases are not clear in time domain in MWF datasets, continuous wavelet transform (CWT) is applied as a tool to find boundaries among different parts in one measurement. Furthermore, segment’s length is defined by rotating tool speed in the data segmentation step. Comparing with approach 1, more data processing methods are included in approach 2. Although the same data selection method is used in this approach as approach 1, besides data selection and segmentation in approach 1, data are transformed from time domain to time-frequency domain by Short-time Fourier Transform (STFT) and spectrograms are obtained. Segments and spectrograms are normalized before they are put into the classifier. Unlike measurement are segmented into fixed size segments according to tool speed, segment length is not identical in this approach, they are considered as one adjustable parameter. Besides, overlap among different class are not identical when samples numbers in each class are not the same. Additionally, parameters in data processing and hyperparameters in CNN are optimized together and automatically in one step. Furthermore, based on approach 2, a transfer learning (TL) approach (approach 2.0) is raised between MWF19 and MWF16. Parameters in data processing and hyperparameters in CNN trained from MWF19 are transformed to MWF16 in approach 2.0. Unlike one method or algorithm is applied in one step in approach 1 and 2, varied data processing methods and ML algorithms in each step are tried in approach 3. From this point of view, approach 3 is a integration of various approaches instead of single approach. Fixed data are used in approach 1 and approach 2, on the contrary, various parts data are tried in this approach. Besides, many similar but not identical function data processing methods and ML algorithms are employed in each step. Based on the destination difference, approach 3 is divided into supervised learning (approach 3.1) and unsupervised learning (approach 3.2). Although the process of approach 3.1 and 3.2 is the same, methods used in each step in approach 3.1 and 3.2 are varied. In approach 3.1, different training-test data split ways are tried. Besides, raw measurement, Savitzky–Golay (SG) filter, and empirical mode decomposition (EMD) are applied in data processing step. Linear, polynomial, and Gaussian kernels SVM are employed as classifier. In approach 3.2, STFT, CWT, and Hilbert–Huang transform (HHT) are used for signals transformation from time domain to time-frequency domain. Autoencoder as an alternative is employed as feature extraction method. K-mean and Gaussian mixture model (GMM) are used for features clustering. Approach 1, 2, and 3.2 are applied to CWRU and MWF datasets. As the IS dataset is very different from other datasets, so approach 3.1 is specific to it. Besides, considering the similarity between MWF19 and MWF16, the approach 2.0 is applied between them. For IS dataset, when training-test data are split in different ways, the results are significantly different. Best results of CWRU beaing dataset from supervised learning approach (approach 2) are F-score and accuracy is 100% for 29 bearing states, which denotes that all bearing states in CWRU bearing dataset can be classified perfectly. Best results of CWRU bearing dataset from unsupervised learning approach (approach 3.2) is all metrics are 1.0 in fault-free and faulty bearing distinction. For MWF19 dataset, the best classification results are from approach 2 - F-score and accuracy are 98.61 % and 98.58 %. Beside, reference and other fluid are totally distinguished by approach 3.2. For MWF16 dataset, the best classification results arrive to accuracy is 98.11 % from approach 1. Die vorliegende Arbeit umfasst die Entwicklung und Anwendung eines Atmosphärendruck-Partikelmassenspektrometers (AD-PMS) für die ortsaufgelöste Charakterisierung von Partikelwachstumsprozessen innerhalb einer Atmosphärendruck-Sprayflamme. Dafür wurde ein bestehendes zweistufiges Niederdruck-Partikelmassenspektrometer (ND-PMS) durch eine zusätzlich Unterdruckkammer erweitert. Dadurch entstand eine kaskadenförmige Anreihung von drei eigenständig versorgten Unterdruckkammern, welche auch bei Atmosphärendruck betrieben werden können, und eine Reduzierung des Kammerdruckes bis zu einem Bereich von 1×10 –6 mbar ermöglicht. Des Weiteren wurde im Rahmen dieser Arbeit eine voll funktionsfähige Sprayflammensyntheseanlage aufgebaut und gemeinsam mit dem AD-PMS für die ortsaufgelöste Charakterisierung in vertikaler und radialer Richtung mit Lineareinheiten versehen. Als Verbindungselement zwischen der Syntheseanlage und dem AD-PMS wurde eine Probenahmesonde mit integrierter Verdünnung verwendet, die mit Hilfe einer validierten Partikelquelle und fluiddynamischen Strömungssimulationen im Detail charakterisiert wurde. Fluiddynamische Strömungssimulationen konnten für das AD-PMS zeigen, dass die Verwendung einer Probenahmesonde die Bildung eines Partikelfreistrahles am Ende einer Kapillar erschweren kann. Dieser Einfluss wurde mithilfe eines Schlierenaufbaus untersucht und in Abhängigkeit der Kapillarlänge genauer charakterisiert. Detaillierte Betrachtungen der PMS-Geometrien führten zu einer Abschätzung von geeigneten Abständen innerhalb des AD-PMS. Des Weiteren konnte mithilfe eines simulierten PMS-Signals die mittlere Geschwindigkeit innerhalb des Partikelfreistrahles abgeschätzt werden. Nach erfolgreicher Inbetriebnahme aller Komponenten wurde das Gesamtsystem mit Hilfe von zwei etablierten Charakterisierungsmethoden an einer laminaren nicht vorgemischten Flamme und an einer turbulenten Sprayflamme mit Erfolg auf Funktion überprüft. Als Anwendungsbeispiele wurde die Untersuchung des Wachstums von Eisenoxid-Nanopartikeln in einem Sprayflammenreaktor gezeigt. Hierfür wurden Sprayflammensynthesen mit Eisen(III)nitrat-Nonahydrat (Fe(NO 3 ) 3 ∙ 9 H 2 O) als Präkursor betrieben. Dabei wurden die Synthesen in den Lösungszusammensetzungen und in den molaren Präkursorkonzentrationen variiert und das Partikelwachstum wurde mit Hilfe des AD-PMS ortsaufgelöst in vertikaler und horizontaler Richtung charakterisiert. Hierbei konnte erfolgreich gezeigt werden, dass die Lösungsmittelzusammensetzung einen deutlichen Einfluss auf das Partikelwachstum innerhalb der verwendeten Sprayflamme haben kann. Considering the current global scenario, battery electric vehicles will play a pivotal role in personal mobility in the future; thus, necessitating an increase in charging infrastructure. According to several studies, greater diffusion of these vehicles can be expected to have an impact on electricity demand. Furthermore, as electricity generation is becoming increasingly volatile, increasing the flexibility of electricity demand is imperative. The current electric vehicle charging models aim to coordinate vehicle charging in a predefined charging network to optimize an objective, such as meeting the demands of all vehicles or cost minimization (electric vehicle charge scheduling problem). Another stream of literature aims to optimize the placement of charging stations and the design of the charging infrastructure. In models supporting these decisions, the charging demand is predefined, and differences in demand over time are not explicitly considered. In this thesis, a decision support model is developed to determine the relationships between different charging network layouts, and to optimize vehicle charging in current and future energy system configurations. To achieve this, a mixed integer linear programming model, which simultaneously optimizes the layout of the charging network and vehicle charging while considering factors related to mobility and the electricity system, was developed. Exact and heuristic solution approaches are presented to solve the model that combines the charging station placement problem and electric vehicle charge scheduling. Furthermore, the geographically and temporally resolved mobility data required for the real-world application of the model is synthetically generated using an activity database and an open-source geographic information system, while factors related to the electricity system are derived from existing energy scenarios. To evaluate how the developed model can support real-world decision-making, it was applied to a case study of charging station placement and coordination of charging activities in Essen. The results were analyzed based on factors such as the geographical and temporal distribution of the charging activities or the economic and ecological effects of the optimized charging network and coordinated vehicle charging. In the case study, the results of a combined optimization of charging station placement and vehicle charging indicate that the joint consideration of both decision problems can influence the charging pattern, yielding different and in some parts more exact results than the previously considered approaches. The model can be used to analyze the impact of changes in the electricity system configurations, changes in mobility behavior, and vehicle charging technology on the energy system, and it can be used to support decisions of charging infrastructure planners, network operators, or policymakers., Aktuellen Prognosen zufolge werden batterieelektrische Fahrzeuge in Zukunft eine entscheidende Rolle im Individualverkehr spielen, was einen Ausbau der Ladeinfrastruktur erfordert. Die stärkere Verbreitung elektrisch betriebener Fahrzeuge wird außerdem zu einer höheren Stromnachfrage führen, während auch die Stromerzeugung - aufgrund der Verschiebung hin zu einer Erzeugung aus erneuerbaren Quellen - volatiler wird. Die Sektorenkoppelung ist ein entscheidender Baustein, damit die Integration von batterieelektrischen Fahrzeugen in ein erneuerbares Energiesystem gelingt. Aktuelle Studien beschäftigten sich unter anderem mit der Ladeinfrastrukturplanung oder Ladeplanung, wobei beide Bereiche in der Regel in getrennten Forschungsgebieten und Entscheidungsproblemen behandelt werden. Die Koordination des Ladens von Elektrofahrzeugen erfolgt in einem vordefinierten Ladenetz, um ein Ziel, z. B. die Minimierung der Ladekosten oder Maximierung des verwendeten Ladestroms aus erneuerbaren Quellen, zu optimieren. Ladeinfrastrukturplanungsmodelle hingegen gehen von einem vordefinierten Ladebedarf aus und unterscheiden in der Regel nicht, wie die Nachfrage über die Zeit variieren kann, berücksichtigen allerdings die geografische Verteilung des Ladebedarfs. In dieser Arbeit wird ein Optimierungsmodell entwickelt, um beide Entscheidungen simultan zu berücksichtigen. Dieses gemischt-ganzzahlige lineare Optimierungsmodell erlaubt gleichzeitig die Auslegung des Ladenetzes und die Optimierung des Ladens von Fahrzeugen unter Berücksichtigung, der variierenden Standorte von Elektrofahrzeugen und volatilen Stromerzeugung. Zur Lösung dieser miteinander verknüpften Planungsaufgaben des entwickelten Modells werden exakte und heuristische Lösungsansätze entwickelt und vorgestellt. Geographisch und zeitlich aufgelöste Mobilitätsdaten, die für die reale Anwendung des Modells erforderlich sind, werden synthetisch aus einer Aktivitätsdatenbank und einem Open-Source-Geoinformationssystem generiert, während die Kenngrößen, die mit dem Stromsystem zusammenhängen, aus bestehenden Energieszenarien abgeleitet werden. Zur Evaluation wird das entwickelte Modell in einer Fallstudie für die Platzierung von Ladestationen und die Koordination von Ladeaktivitäten in der Stadt Essen angewendet. Die Modellergebnisse werden nach Faktoren wie der räumlichen und zeitlichen Verteilung der Ladeaktivitäten oder den ökonomischen und ökologischen Effekten des optimierten Ladenetzes und der koordinierten Ladung der Fahrzeuge analysiert. Ergebnisse einer kombinierten Optimierung der Platzierung von Ladestationen und der Fahrzeugladung zeigen, dass die gemeinsame Betrachtung beider Entscheidungsprobleme zu Ergebnissen führen kann, die sich von denen bisheriger Ansätze unterscheidet. Das entwickelte Modell und die entwickelten Lösungsansätze ermöglichen es, die Auswirkungen von Änderungen der Energiesystemkonfiguration, des Mobilitätsverhaltens und der Ladetechnologie auf das Energiesystem zu analysieren. Das Modell kann eingesetzt werden, um die Entscheidungen von Ladeinfrastrukturplanern, Netzbetreibern oder politischen Entscheidungsträgern zu unterstützen.

Small and medium foundry industries strive to produce defect free parts and are planning to use the technological advancement to incorporate automation in their production processes. These targets require online monitoring and control of a foundry process. In case of an expected defect, the goal is to know about it in advance. If a monitoring system is in place and informs about the problem before occurring, corrective measures can be taken in time to prevent producing defected parts. This results in high production quality, continuous running of these processes, and minimization of production time and scrap rate. One of the possible ways is to capture the process related data and implicitly learn the unknown hidden model using machine learning methods. Technological advancement has enabled to produce the vast amount of data related to the processes and many promising machine learning methods are available. Utilizing these resources can help learn a data-driven model of the target process. This model can be used for monitoring and control of the target process. Hence in the current work, a novel framework based on data-driven machine learning model has been introduced and is applied on the different datasets of the foundry industry. The proposed framework is composed of three stages. In the first stage, a good data-driven machine learning model is obtained which can be used to monitor the target process by predicting the label of the current inputs. In the second stage, a knowledge-base is created using the model learnt to control running process. In the third stage, the learnt model is used to predict the part quality. If the quality meets the requirements, the production process continues and in case the prediction shows faulty part, then changes are proposed using the knowledge-base. The promising verification results obtained for the foundry industry datasets confirm that the proposed unified framework can enable the production processes to run more efficiently by reducing the manufacturing defects and down time. This can be achieved by preempting a potential problem and proposing a cost effective solution., Kleine und mittlere Gießereien streben danach, fehlerfreie Teile zu produzieren und planen, den technologischen Fortschritt zu nutzen, um Automatisierung in ihre Produktionsprozesse zu integrieren. Diese Ziele erfordern eine Online-Überwachung und -Kontrolle des Gießereiprozesses. Das Ziel ist es, im Falle eines zu erwartenden Fehlers diesen im Voraus zu erkennen. Wenn ein Überwachungssystem vorhanden ist und über das Problem informiert, bevor es auftritt, können rechtzeitig Korrekturmaßnahmen ergriffen werden, um die Produktion fehlerhafter Teile zu verhindern. Dies führt zu einer hohen Produktionsqualität, einem kontinuierlichen Ablauf der Prozesse und einer Minimierung der Produktionszeit und Ausschussrate. Eine Möglichkeit besteht darin, die prozessbezogenen Daten zu erfassen und das unbekannte verborgene Modell mit Hilfe von Methoden des maschinellen Lernens implizit zu erlernen. Der technologische Fortschritt hat es ermöglicht, große Mengen an prozessbezogenen Daten zu erzeugen, und es stehen viele vielversprechende Methoden des maschinellen Lernens zur Verfügung. Die Nutzung dieser Ressourcen kann helfen, ein datengesteuertes Modell des Zielprozesses zu erlernen. Dieses Modell kann für die Überwachung und Steuerung des Zielprozesses verwendet werden. Daher wurde in der vorliegenden Arbeit ein neuartiges Framework auf der Grundlage eines datengesteuerten maschinellen Lernmodells eingeführt und auf verschiedene Datensätze der Gießereiindustrie angewandt. Das vorgeschlagene Framework besteht aus drei Stufen. In der ersten Phase wird ein datengesteuertes maschinelles Lernmodell erlernt, das zur Überwachung des Zielprozesses durch Vorhersage der abhängigen Variablen anhand der aktuellen Eingaben verwendet werden kann. In der zweiten Phase wird mit Hilfe des erlernten Modells eine Wissensdatenbank zur Steuerung des laufenden Prozesses erstellt. In der dritten Stufe wird das gelernte Modell zur Vorhersage der Teilequalität verwendet. Wenn die Qualität den Anforderungen entspricht, wird der Produktionsprozess fortgesetzt, und wenn die Vorhersage ein fehlerhaftes Teil ergibt, werden anhand der Wissensdatenbank Änderungen vorgeschlagen. Die vielversprechenden Verifizierungsergebnisse, die anhand von Datensätzen aus der Gießereiindustrie erzielt wurden, bestätigen, dass das vorgeschlagene einheitliche Framework einen effizienteren Ablauf der Produktionsprozesse ermöglichen kann, indem er die Herstellungsfehler und Ausfallzeiten reduziert. Dies wird dadurch erreicht, dass ein potenzielles Problem bereits im Vorfeld erkannt und eine kosteneffiziente Lösung vorgeschlagen wird.

Als Naturprodukt mit begrenzten Ressourcen ist Sand für diverse Industriezweige von existenzieller Bedeutung. Insbesondere die Gießereitechnik benötigt weltweit für Sandformen sowie –kerne beträchtliche Mengen. Dabei ist Sand nicht gleich Sand, sodass beispielsweise Wüstensande nicht für solche Gussformen bzw. - kerne eingesetzt werden kann, da die Oberfläche der Körner für die meisten Anwendungen zu glatt ist. Je nach Gussprozess werden die hochwertigen Quarzsande daher bereits im Kreislauf gefahren und wiederverwendet. Allerdings wird immer noch, insbesondere bei anorganisch gebundenem Formstoff häufig nicht rezykliert, sondern unter umweltrelevanten Auflagen dem Abfallsystem zugeführt. Bestehende dieser Regenerationsverfahren stoßen analytisch häufig an ihre Optimierungsgrenzen, da die Prozesse nicht transparent genug sind, um entsprechende Parameter zur Optimierung analytisch zu beschreiben. Somit sind Inlineanalysen der Formstoffqualität während des Prozesses unmöglich. Die bestehende Herausforderung ist, dass die Formstoffqualität und der Regenerationsfortschritt nicht während des betrachteten Prozesses bestimmt werden können, um im Laufe des Regenerationsprozesses entsprechende Optimierungen oder Prozessanpassungen durchzuführen. Der aktuelle Aufbereitungszustand ist während der Regeneration prozessbedingt nicht direkt messbar. Die Formstoffqualität soll zukünftig während des Prozesses in Echtzeit bestimmbar sein, um so aktiv den Aufbereitungszustand mit entsprechenden Parametereinstellungen zu steuern. Die quantitative Formstoffbestimmung im laufenden Prozess bietet die Möglichkeit, umweltrelevante Ziele, wie einen verringerten Energiebedarf, Reduzierung des CO2-Ausstoßes oder Ressourcenschonung durch eine effizientere Steuerung zu berücksichtigen. Darüber hinaus kann eine optimierte Anlagensteuerung zu verbesserten Prozessfahrweisen hinsichtlich Zeit-, Kosten- sowie Energieeffizienz führen. Im Rahmen dieser Forschungsarbeit wird eine Methodik mit Hilfe von Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) zur maschinellen Verarbeitung von Ton- und Bilddaten vorgestellt, die die nicht messbaren Veränderungen des Formstoffes im laufenden Prozess über die Prozessakustik in Echtzeit abbilden und bewerten soll. Unter der Annahme, dass die Veränderungen des Formstoffes während des Prozesses akustisch erfassbar sind, wird jede Regeneration über ein Kondensatormikrophon aufgenommen. Die Veränderungen, die während des Prozesses auftreten, wurden mit den im Folgenden genannten Methoden extrahiert und erlernt. Die akustische Signalverarbeitung (Audio Signal Processing) bietet eine Vielzahl an Analysemethoden zur Merkmalsextraktion (Feature extraction). Das Spektrogramm steht dabei im Vordergrund der Analysen, da Spektrogramme den Zeit-Frequenz-Inhalt eines Signals mithilfe der Short-Time-Fourier-Transformation (STFT) visualisieren. Die aufgenommenen Audiodaten werden damit zu Bilddaten transformiert und anschließend mit CNNs, im Sinne der Bilderkennung, analysiert. CNNs bilden einen Grundstein der Methoden des sogenannten Deep Learnings (DL), ein Teilgebiet des maschinellen Lernens, und werden bereits erfolgreich in der Bilderkennung eingesetzt. Damit ergibt sich eine Kombination aus Methoden der Signalverarbeitung und maschinellen Lernverfahren zur Bildverarbeitung, um Qualitätsveränderungen des regenerierten Sandes zu erkennen und zu klassifizieren., As a natural product with limited resources, sand is of existential importance for various branches of industry. Foundry technology in particular requires considerable quantities for sand moulds and cores worldwide. However, not all sand is the same. Desert sand, for example, cannot be used for such moulds or cores, as the surface of the grains is too smooth for most applications. Depending on the casting process, the high-quality silica sands are therefore already recycled and thus reused. However, especially in the case of inorganically bonded moulding sand, it is still frequently not recycled but added to the waste system under environmentally relevant conditions. Existing regeneration processes often reach their analytical optimisation limits because the processes are not transparent enough to render inline analyses of the moulding sand possible. The challenge at hand is that the moulding material quality and the regeneration progress cannot be determined in real time during the process under consideration, so that appropriate optimisations or process adjustments can be carried out during the regeneration process. The running process and the associated current preparation status cannot be measured directly. In the future, it should be possible to determine the moulding sand quality in real time during the process in order to actively control the preparation status directly with corresponding parameter settings. The feasibility of quantitative moulding sand determination during the running process offers the possibility to take into account environmentally relevant goals, such as reduced energy consumption, reduction of CO2 emissions or resource conservation through more efficient control. Optimised plant control in terms of time, cost and energy efficiency can also be derived from this. This research presents a methodology using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) for machine processing of sound and image data to map and evaluate the non-measurable changes of the moulding material in the running process via the process acoustics in real time. Assuming that the regeneration of the moulding material during the process are acoustically detectable, each process is recorded via a condenser microphone. Changes that occur during the process are extracted and learned using the methods mentioned below. Audio signal processing offers a variety of analysis methods for feature extraction. The spectrogram is at the forefront of the analyses, because spectrograms visualise the time-frequency content of a signal with the help of the Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT). The recorded audio data is thus transformed into image data and then analysed with CNNs, in the sense of image recognition. CNNs form a basic element of the methods of so-called deep learning (DL), a subfield of machine learning, and are already being used successfully in image recognition. This results in a combination of signal processing methods and machine learning methods for image processing to detect and classify process changes.

Im Jahr 2017 wurden 3,5 % (EU: 3,3 %) der weltweit Rohstahlgesamtproduktion von rd. 1691 Mt im Blockgussverfahren vergossen. In Deutschland kommt dem Blockguss mit 4,6 % (entspricht 2000 kt) an der Gesamtrohstahlproduktion eine besondere Bedeutung zu (1). Ein wirtschaftlicher Betrieb unter der im europäischen Raum zu berücksichtigenden Kostenstruktur (Energie, Umweltschutz…) bewirkt zunehmend eine Nischenbildung zu qualitativ hochwertigen Spezialprodukten. Einige dieser Produkte haben ihren urformenden Ursprung als gegossener Block. So werden heutzutage hauptsächlich sehr große Schmiederohlinge, kleine Produktionsmengen mit speziellen Legierungen oder Stahllegierungen, die im Strangguss aufgrund der Erstarrungsbedingungen nicht technisch sinnvoll hergestellt werden können, im Blockgussverfahren erzeugt (Kapitel 1.3). Aufgrund der im Vergleich zum Stranggussverfahren deutlich nachteiligen Kostenstruktur hat das Blockgussverfahren nur dort Relevanz, wo es technische Vorteile bietet. Die Haltbarkeit bis zum Ausfall von großen Blockgusskokillen mit einer Kapazität von 25 bis 40 Tonnen Blocktonnage variiert in der Regel zwischen 20 und 70 Thermozyklen (Abgüssen). Nach der ersten thermischen Belastung durch den Stahlguss lässt sich eine verbreitete Brandrissigkeit an den Innenseiten der Kokille, die Kontakt zur Stahlschmelze hatten, feststellen. In der weiteren Abfolge der thermozyklischen Belastung kommt es zu lokalen Anrissen, die zunächst noch mit Dichtmassen eingedämmt werden können, sich jedoch mit jedem Gießzyklus ausweiten. Schließlich kommt es zum Durchriss über die gesamte Wandstärke und damit zum Ausfall der Kokille. Für ausgefallene Kokillen ist eine kostenintensive Ersatzerzeugung notwendig. Kostentreiber sind insbesondere die schwierige Rezyklierung sowie die hohen Vollkosten für eine Erzeugung von Kleinchargen. Zunächst müssen zu verschrottende Kokillen in einem zugelassenen Trümmerwerk zerkleinert und dann als Eisenmischschrott abgesetzt werden. Aufgrund des hohen Volumen/Masse-Verhältnisses sowohl der Kokillen (nicht schachtelbar) als auch der Trümmerstücke entstehen erhebliche Transportkosten. Weiterhin sind Margenabschläge bei Absatz von Kleinmengenschrott zu bedenken (2). 2 Kokillen werden aus Gründen des Schutzes von Betriebsgeheimnissen oft direkt von dem Verwender selbst hergestellt. Es kam und kommt immer wieder zum „zufälligen“ Erzeugen von Kokillen mit erheblich gesteigerter Haltbarkeit. Erst seit einigen Jahren wurden in verschiedenen Betrieben Untersuchungen zur Verlängerung der Haltbarkeit von Blockgusskokillen angestellt, ohne jedoch konkrete Ergebnisse ausweisen zu können. Es wird weiterhin im Allgemeinen mit bewährten und reproduzierbaren Grobvorgaben gearbeitet. Ziel dieser Arbeit soll die Untersuchung der der variablen Kokillenhaltbarkeit zugrunde liegenden metallurgischen Phänomene sowie deren technisch nutzbare und reproduzierbare Umsetzung zur Verlängerung der Haltbarkeit sein. Gleichzeitig muss die Eignung für den Produktionszweck, also der Erhalt und gegebenenfalls die Steigerung der Blockqualität, berücksichtigt werden, auf die in den Blockgussbetrieben bislang das Hauptaugenmerk gelegt wurde. Die Antriebe für die Mobilität der Zukunft basieren auf Batterien und Brennstoffzellen, die die meisten Ansprüche an Reichweite und Nutzlast erfüllen können. Forschung und Entwicklung zur Verbesserung von Batterien adressieren zum Beispiel die Energiedichte und Umweltfreundlichkeit, auch Batterietypen der nächsten Generation und die Weiterentwicklung von Brennstoffzellen in Hinblick auf Produktionstechnik und Kostenreduktion sind zentrale Themen., Both battery electric vehicles (BEV) and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV) contribute to zero-emission driving. Both technologies have distinct advantages, meaning that they are used with different applications. Highly efficient BEV have already been introduced into the market in significant numbers, while fuel cell drives are mainly produced in Asian countries. For heavy duty applications, fuel cells and hydrogen – or even more energy dense hydrogen carriers like ammonia – are considered as options. Research and development into improving Li-ion batteries is of utmost importance, but the development of secondgeneration batteries like Li-sulfur or zinc-based systems is also carried out. The results of these long-term programmes will show the potential of these technologies for possible applications, electric traction or stationary energy storage. Fuel cells have not yet achieved a comparable state of development. Series production has been realised, but mass production and broad market introduction will take some more years of development. High performance membrane-electrode assemblies are the core of fuel cells, but research and development are also required for production technologies, lifetime and cost reduction. Both BEV and FCEV technologies require their own refuelling infrastructure. Electric charging either takes time or needs high power, for example 50 kW or higher to charge a passenger car within one to two hours. Hydrogen is stored under a pressure of 700 bars in pressure vessels in order to achieve a high energy density and a high driving range. Refuelling technology is thus consuming energy depending on the refuelling time and the refuelling station design. Applied research for technological improvement is therefore important. Both infrastructures are also massively subsidized to make electric driving attractive for consumers. For ocean shipping or aviation, hydrogen might not have the sufficient energy density, not even in liquefied form. In this case, ammonia might be an option as a hydrogencarrying material. Mobilität ist ein wesentlicher Bestandteil unserer Gesellschaft, aber auch gleichzeitig Ursache für die Produktion von Treibhausgasemissionen und Luftschadstoffen. Für eine realistische Einschätzung des mit der Mobilität einhergehenden Kraftstoff- beziehungsweise Energiebedarfs und damit verbundenen Emissionsausstoßes werden realitätsnahe Testverfahren benötigt. Eine Möglichkeit stellen Testzyklen dar, die die Mobilität abbilden., Mobility is an essential part of our society. However, it is undergoing a transformation to a more climatefriendly form. An important part of this is being achieved through the complete electrification of vehicles. The consumption and thus the emissions of electric vehicles depend on a number of different factors, such as driving behaviour or temperature, which are influenced by the individual driving style but also by traffic and the use of auxiliary units. However, these characteristics specific to electric vehicles are not adequately covered by standardized driving cycles, which have long been criticized for not being realistic. Current efforts consider parameters under real operating conditions. In addition to measurements of emissions on test benches, tests and measurements are carried out under real operating conditions. In this so-called RDE test, the emission of NOx and particulate matter is measured by portable emissions measurement systems (PEMS) during driving. In future, the fuel consumption and energy requirements of new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles will also be recorded during real-world operation and transmitted to the European Commission. This will enable estimates to be made of fleet-wide fuel and energy requirements and fuel-related emissions. Another measure aimed at reducing the difference between the parameters determined by standardized test cycles and the real parameters is the development of application-specific test cycles. These are constructed based on real data covering the specific application. Furthermore, real environmental conditions as well as the user-specific use of additional consumers such as auxiliary units can be mapped. This makes it possible to create an alternative to standardized test cycles that allows parameters to be determined that are closer to reality. Based on comprehensive real driving data from Germany and China, which were recorded over a long period of time by UDE’s Chair of Mechatronics with various partners from industry and research, a series of driving cycles was developed. Transient driving cycles were generated region-specifically on the basis of important influencing parameters. In addition to speed cycles, battery load cycles were developed using recorded current profiles and, for a higher level of detail, current profiles were generated by simulation. It was clearly shown that driving cycles for electric vehicles based on real driving data differ significantly from standardized driving cycles. This thesis describes a novel three-vector plant model for sector coupling based on 1.steam power plant producing electric power, 2. heat as steam, and finally 3. as methanol production by exploiting the higher heating value (HHV) of the fuel used. This thesis describes how flue gas condensation working in conjunction with high temperature heat pumps improves fuel utilization, while integration of a power to methanol plant consisting of water electrolysis, carbon capture unit and methanol generation couples power generation to chemical production. Such a plant will be shown to have to capability to operate with high flexibly over increasingly fluctuating renewable electricity generation demands to provide electric power, heat and methanol production reliably over a wide range. This techno-economic analysis presents a full cycle of one year of operation, using wind and solar renewable generation using Germany as the model based on real data. The operation of the plant is analysed for its carbon footprint for methanol generation by power to methanol (PtX) in this three-vector generation plant. In dieser Arbeit wird beschrieben, wie die Rauchgaskondensation in Verbindung mit Hochtemperatur-Wärmepumpen die Brennstoffausnutzung verbessert, während die Integration einer Power-to-Methanol-Anlage, bestehend aus Wasserelektrolyse, einer Anlage zur Kohlendioxidabscheidung und einer Methanol-Erzeugungsanlage, die die Stromerzeugung mit der chemischen Produktion koppelt. Es wird gezeigt, dass eine solche Anlage in der Lage ist, mit hoher Flexibilität bei zunehmend schwankendem Bedarf an erneuerbarer Stromerzeugung zu arbeiten, um Strom, Wärme und Methanol über einen weiten Bereich zuverlässig bereitzustellen. In dieser technisch-wirtschaftlichen Analyse wird ein vollständiger Betriebszyklus von einem Jahr unter Verwendung von Wind- und Solarstrom aus erneuerbaren Energien in Deutschland als Modell auf der Grundlage realer Daten dargestellt. Der Betrieb der Anlage wird auf seinen Kohlenstoff-Fußabdruck für die Methanolerzeugung durch Power-to-Methanol (PtX) in dieser Drei-Vektoren-Anlage analysiert. Dies wird mit anderen bestehenden kohlenstoffarmen Methanol-Erzeugungsoptionen und deren Kohlenstoff-Fußabdruck verglichen.

Injection molded and then electroplated plastic parts are mainly made of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) or polycarbonate/acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (PC/ABS) blends. Nevertheless, compared to these materials, polyamide (PA) has superior physical properties. However, the coating quality is inferior to that of conventional polymers and the scrap rates of 25% to 30% are higher. The coating quality depends not only on the electroplating parameters but also on the surface of the injection molded part. The aim of this paper is to determine the influence of injection molding parameters on the surface structure of injection molded, mineral-filled polyamide parts. Therefore, mineral-filled polyamide parts are produced in a full-factorial design of experiments (DoE) and electroplated subsequently. Afterwards, surface parameters from DIN EN ISO25178 are determined by confocal microscopy for different pre-treatments of the electroplating process chain and at different positions

The characteristics and the quality of a blown film are strongly influenced by the stretching and simultaneous cooling of the molten polymer within the bubble formation zone. Moreover, the output rate of the process is generally limited by the cooling rates and the stability of the bubble. As a consequence, the design of cooling systems is highly relevant in terms of process optimization. Beside intensifying the heat removal, the concept of secondary air cooling aims at eliminating unsteady ambient influences during bubble formation and increasing bubble stability. Different concepts for cooling systems with integrated secondary air cooling are presented and experimentally tested. The results confirm that the implementation of secondary air cooling is feasible and generally supports bubble cooling regarding the aforementioned intention. Furthermore, the study reveals that an accurate design of such cooling systems is required.

Basiseisen für die Herstellung von Gusseisen mit Kugelgraphit wird bei einem Bedarf von 50t bis 100t Flüssigeisen pro Stunde in der Regel mit einem Kupolofen erschmolzen. Unter diesen Gegebenheiten ist es besonders wirtschaftlich, die notwendige Mg-Behandlung im Georg Fischer-Konverter durchzuführen. Darüber hinaus ist diese Art der Mg-Behandlung jedoch auch mit spezifischen Nachteilen verbunden. Ein nicht zu unterschätzender Nachteil ist der deutlich negative Einfluss der Rein-Mg-Behandlung auf den Keimzustand der Schmelze. Im Allgemeinen spricht man von „totem Eisen“, da sich der Kohlenstoff nicht ohne Weiteres als Kugelgraphit ausscheidet. Zielsetzung der vorliegenden Arbeit ist es, zu überprüfen, inwiefern sich Korrelationen in der Herstellung von Gusseisen mit Kugelgraphit aus Kupolofeneisen unter Anwendung des Georg Fischer-Konverter-Verfahrens nachweisen lassen. Dazu wird der gesamte Prozess der Flüssigeisenerzeugung mittels thermischer Analyse sowie, soweit sinnvoll, metallographisch untersucht. Zur Bewertung herangezogen wird dazu die Fahrweise und der Einfluss der Einsatzstoffe im Schmelzprozess sowie das Zwischenspeichern im Warmhalteofen, eine Vorkonditionierung der Schmelze mit einer zeitgleich stattfindenden Legierungsarbeit, die Rein-Mg-Behandlung im Georg Fischer-Konverter und der Einfluss des Impfens auf das mittels der voranstehenden Schritte hergestellte Flüssigeisen. In dieser Arbeit werden konkrete Zusammenhänge zu oben beschriebenem Prozess erarbeitet und detailliert dargestellt. Möglichkeiten zur prozesstechnischen Regelung und Wege zur wirtschaftlichen Nutzung werden aufgezeigt., A cupola furnace is often used when it is necessary to produce 50-100 tonnes per hour of liquid base iron for ductile iron production. Under these circumstances it is economic to carry out the nodularising process in a Georg Fischer converter, however there are also disadvantages associated with this process, in particular the negative effect of the pure magnesium treatment on the metallurgical condition of the iron. In general, iron of low nucleation is termed “dead iron” since the carbon does not readily precipitate as spheroidal graphite. The objective of the present work is to verify to what extent correlations can be proven in the production process of ductile iron via cupola furnace and the Georg Fischer converter process used for the nodularisation. To facilitate this, the entire process has been evaluated using thermal analysis and, as far as appropriate, metallographic techniques. Four production stages have been examined in the evaluation: The operation of the cupola and the influence of the charge materials, also the effects of holding in the induction furnace Preconditioning of the melt and alloying The pure magnesium treatment in the converter The influence of subsequent inoculation after the preceding steps have been completed In this work, connections and interactions within the processes are developed and discussed in detail. Possibilities to improve process control and economic utilisation are demonstrated.

Process technologies for nanoparticles represent an unprecedented challenge and opportunity. This opportunity can be tapped by continued innovation brought through research at and across the process scale, particle scale, and perhaps right down to the molecular and atomic scale. Particle formulation products can be simple dispersions of well-structured and shaped particles, thin films, or formulated products of complex hierarchical particle assemblies. The ability to construct and control the process-structure and structure-property relations is necessary if particle processing knowledge is to springboard into next generation products through scalable and sustainable manufacturing. This consequently will lead to far-reaching societal and environmental benefits and advancement of chemical engineering sciences. This thesis is concerned with enabling this ability to characterize and explain process-structure-property relations. Apart from model systems, the particle systems I have studied here include materials for energy conversion and storage such as fuel cell catalyst inks and battery slurries. Despite the great importance of ink formulation for the high-performance electrode layers in fuel cells and batteries, their optimization is largely empirical. Moreover, the literature consists of contradictory data, partly because of the huge parameter space (e.g., particle selection, solvent selection, fabrication process) and partly due to the lack of approaches to determine the surface properties of particles for quality control and their effect on subsequent process and solvent selection. Further complexity arises from the application-related high solids concentrations and the use of binders/additives resulting in a multicomponent system. This work presents the methods to characterize such systems comprehensively, embracing the complexity of the formulation. I prepared nanoparticle dispersions and performed particle characterization experiments such as the evaluation of surface properties and rheology. The aim here is to investigate the systems at their technical concentrations, without altering the sample integrity. I use a comparatively new analytical technique for the measurement of such complex multi-material particle systems, namely analytical centrifugation. Further, I propose and developed novel data processing workflows using the characterization measurement data. Among these data processing methods, first I describe transmittograms that allow facile visualizations for settling assemblages. I show how they can be used to draw information about the particles in suspension from sedimentation dynamics and rationalize observations made regarding agglomeration phenomena and particle size. Secondly, I describe stability trajectories, which provide a quantitative framework for assessing the heterogeneity in the formulation. Together, by using these procedures, I demonstrate how temporal and spatial patterns can be extracted from them to bridge the process-structure-property relationships. Finally, I propose and describe a combinatorics-based approach, which provides a deterministic framework for the evaluation of the Hansen solubility parameters of particles. Neben der Erzeugung von Strom aus erneuerbaren Quellen, ist die Speicherung und Verteilung dieser Energie einer der größten Herausforderungen unserer Zeit. Eine herausragende Rolle kommt hierbei den Batteriesystemen zu. Durch die Entwicklung der Lithium-Ionen Batterie wurden vor allem mobile Kleingeräte mit höherer Leistungsfähigkeit und Energiebedarf möglich. Um die Energiedichte der Speichersysteme weiter zu steigern, sind jedoch alternative Zellkonzepte notwendig. Erfolgversprechend ist hierbei die Festkörper-Batterie, welche durch den Einsatz keramischer Festkörperelektrolyte Lithium- Metall als Anodenmaterial zugänglich macht. Um die erfolgreiche Implementierung solcher Zellkonzepte in industrierelevanten Maßstäben zu ermöglichen, müssen dabei skalierbare Fertigungsverfahren etabliert und ihr Einfluss auf die Leistungsfähigkeit der finalen Bauteile verstanden werden. Hier setzt diese Arbeit an. Als etabliertes Verfahren zur Herstellung dünner Batterie-Komponenten wurde hier Foliengießen von Li6,4Al0.05La3Zr1,6Ta0,4O12 gewählt, da die Machbarkeit bereits in der Literatur demonstriert wurde, jedoch noch kein detailliertes Verständnis der komplexen Zusammenhänge während der Verarbeitung existiert. Entlang der Prozesskette wurden in der vorliegenden Arbeit wichtige Parameter identifiziert und ihr Einfluss untersucht. Basierend auf existierenden Arbeiten wurden neben der Partikelgröße und -größenverteilung der eingesetzten keramischen Pulver, sowohl die Schlickerrezeptur als auch die gesamte Prozesskette optimiert werden. Die Änderungen der chemischen Zusammensetzung des LLZO durch den Li*/H”-Austausch mit dem Lösemittel konnten durch Nachbehandlungen gezielt eliminiert werden. Während der anschließenden Konfektionierungs und -sinterprozesse wurden neben den etablierten Faktoren wie Temperatur und Haltezeit eine Reihe weiterer Faktoren wie Lager- und Prozesszeit untersucht und angepasst um optimal flache, verdichtete und mechanisch stabile Komponenten zu erreichen. Die so hergestellten Separatoren zeigen eine bis dahin unerreichte ionische Leitfähigkeit von bis zu 3,9 10-4 Scm-1 und kritische Stromdichten der Dendritenbildung von 300µA cm-². Die hier gewonnenen Erkenntnissen und neuen Einblicken in die komplexen Zusammenhänge zwischen den Parametern entlang der Prozesskette des Foliengießens und den resultierenden elektrochemischen EigenschaRen der Festkörperelektrolyten schlagen die Brücke zwischen der Laboranwendung und der Implementierung im industriellen Maßstab. Vor allem durch die Betrachtung der weichen Prozessparameter, welche in wissenschaRlichen Veröfientlichungen oÜmals nicht detailliert beschrieben werden, konnten sowohl die erreichbaren elektrochemischen Werte, als auch die Reproduzierbarkeit signifikant gesteigert werden. Gleichzeitig konnten die Erkenntnisse zur Herstellung von freistehenden, dünnen LLZO- Separatoren auf keramische Mischkathoden ausgeweitet werden. Die Entwicklung von skalierbaren Prozessen zur Herstellung freistehender Mischkathoden Iegt dabei den Grundstein für die Herstellung kathodengestützter, vollkeramischer Festkörperbatterien und den Einsatz von Dünnschicht-Separatoren zur weiteren Steigerung der Energiedichte. Aufgrund der hohen Kompatibilität mit LLZ0 während der thermischen Behandlungsschritte wurde LiCoO2 als Kathodenmaterial ausgewählt. Neben der Erstellung einer vollständig neuen Prozesskette und Optimierung der Prozessparameter wurde besonders das Potential durch das sequentielle Gießen von Schichten mit unterschiedlicher Zusammensetzung betrachtet. Um die elektrochemische Charakterisierung der hergestellten Mischkathoden umzusetzen, wurde eine Modellzelle entwickelt. Anodenseitig besteht diese aus einem LLZO-Separator mit Lithium-Metall Anode, um die Dendritenstabilität zu gewährleisten. Verbunden werden die Anodenhalbzelle und die Mischkathode durch einen Polymerelektrolyt, welcher den vollflächigen Kontakt der keramischen Bauteile gewährleistet. Die optimierten, freistehenden Mischkathoden in den Modellzellen bei angepasster Dicke und Mikrostruktur, zeigen bei einer Beladung von etwa 18mg cm-² Kapazitäten von über 2,5 mAh. Während im ersten Zyklus die theoretische Entlade-Kapazität voll ausgenutzt wird, liegt die Coulombsche Efiizienz über alle Zyklen nur bei etwa 90%. Folglich degradiert die Kapazität der Zelle über die ersten Zyklen stark, zeigt jedoch ab dem 5. Zyklus eine stabile Kapazität von über 1mAh. Die hier gezeigten, freistehenden keramischen Mischkathoden eröffnen die Möglichkeit zur Entwicklung einer neuen Generation kathodengestützter Festkörperbatterien. Da die mechanische Stabilität der Zelle bereits durch die Mischkathode gegeben wird, kann die Dicke des elektrochemisch inaktiven Separators signifikant reduziert werden. Daher können in zukünftigen Untersuchungen durch die Kombination der hier gezeigten Mischkathoden mit polymerbasierten oder keramischen Dünnschicht-Separatoren Vollzellen mit herausragender Energiedichte entwickelt werden. Damit können vollkeramische Festkörperbatterien weiter Richtung Marktreife vorangetrieben werden., In addition to the generation of electricity from renewable sources, the storage and distribution of this energy is one of the greatest challenges of our time. Battery systems play a prominent role in this regard. The development ofthe lithium-ion battery in particular has made small mobile devices with higher performance and energy requirements possible. However, alternative cell concepts are needed to further increase the energy density of storage systems. The solid-state battery, which makes lithium metal accessible as anode material by using ceramic solid-state electrolytes, is promising in this respect. In order to enable the successful implementation of such cell concepts on industrially relevant scales, scalable manufacturing processes must be established and their influence on the performance ofthe final components must be understood. This is where this work comes in. Tape casting of Li6,4Al0.05La3Zr1,6Ta0,4O12 was chosen here as an established process for manufacturing thin baxery components, since its feasibility has already been demonstrated in the literature, but a detailed understanding of the complex interactions during processing does not yet exist. Along the process chain, important parameters were identified and their influence was investigated in the present work. Based on existing work, in addition to the particle size and size distribution of the ceramic powders used, both the slip formulation and the entire process chain were optimized. The changes in the chemical composition ofthe LLZO due to the Li+/H+-exchange with the solvent could be specifically eliminated by post-treatments. During the subsequent fabrication and sintering processes, in addition to the established factors such as temperature and holding time, a number of other factors such as storage and process time were investigated and adjusted to achieve optimally flat, compacted and mechanically stable components. The resulting separators exhibit previously unattained ionic conductivity of up to 3.9 10-⁴ Scm-1 and critical dendrite formation current densities of 300µA cm-2. The knowledge gained here and new insights into the complex relationships between parameters along the film casting process chain and the resulting electrochemical properties of the solid-state electrolytes bridge the gap between laboratory application and industrial scale implementation. Especially by considering the soft process parameters, which are often not described in detail in scientific publications, both the achievable electrochemical values and the reproducibility could be significantly increased. At the same time, the findings on the fabrication of free-standing, thin LLZO separators could be extended to ceramic mixed cathodes. In this context, the development of scalable processes for the fabrication of freestanding mixed cathodes lays the foundation for the fabrication of cathode-supported, all-ceramic solid-state batteries and the use ofthin-film separators to further increase energy density. LiCoO2 was selected as the cathode material due to its high compatibility with LLZO during the thermal treatment steps. In addition to creating a completely new process chain and optimizing the process parameters, special attention was paid to the potential ofiered by sequential casting of layers with different compositions. In order to implement the electrochemical characterization ofthe produced mixed cathodes, a model cell was developed. On the anode side, this consists of an LLZO separator with lithium metal anode to ensure dendrite stability. The anode half-cell and the mixed cathode are connected by a polymer electrolyte, which ensures full-surface contau ofthe ceramic components. The optimized free-standing mixed cathodes in the model cells at matched thickness and microstructure, show capacities of over 2.5 mAh at a loading of about 18mg cm-². While the theoretical discharge capacity is fully utilized in the first cycle, the Coulomb efiiciency over all cycles is only about 90%. Consequently, the capacity ofthe cell degrades sharply over the first few cycles, but shows a stable capacity of over 1mAh from the Sth cycle onwards. The free-standing ceramic mixed cathodes shown here open up the possibility of developing a new generation of cathode-supported solid-state batteries. Since the mechanical stability ofthe cell is already given bythe mixed cathode, the thickness ofthe electrochemically inactive separator can be significantly reduced. Therefore, in future studies, full cells with outstanding energy density can be developed by combining the mixed cathodes shown here with polymer-based or ceramic thin-film separators. Thus, all-ceramic solid-state batteries can be further advanced towards market maturity.

Vortex-induced vibration (VIV) of cylindrical structures in fluid flow is a well-explored topic that is relevant to many fields of engineering. In particular, it is a classical topic within fluid-structure interaction (FSI). In offshore engineering, VIV often causes fatigue in slender structures, such as risers, mooring lines, and pipelines. Recently, VIV has been a key issue in wind turbine tower design. Turbine towers can be subject to VIV when exposed to stream flow because the shedding of vortices downstream of the structure induces forces on the structure that may cause vibrations. A detailed understanding of this FSI phenomenon and efficient estimation of such self-excited and self-sustained oscillations are required for the reliable prediction of the fatigue damage and the development of VIV suppression techniques. The study of this problem is hampered by a lack of high-quality measurements and a lack of reliable models to predict the response and the fluid loading on towers undergoing VIV. In the present study, experimental and numerical investigations on a cantilever cylinder with free end boundary conditions have been studied. Methods of eliminating or reducing vortex-induced oscillations are by varying structural or aero/hydro-dynamics behavior. Structural methods, such as those that involve altering damping, mass, or natural frequency, however, aerodynamic/hydrodynamic techniques, such as those that change the flow pattern using alternative methods. A series of experiments were performed in an enclosed towing tank to investigate the response amplitudes, hydrodynamic forces, lock-in region, Strouhal number, and frequency response while varying the locations of different newly developed angular-position fin plates. The experiments were conducted in a uniform current flow with cylinder models below the critical mass value and allowed to oscillate in two degrees of freedom in the inline and transverse directions. The results demonstrated the disappearance of the synchronization features when the models approached their natural frequencies, which led to a significant reduction in the response amplitudes. Interestingly, strong suppression of over 90% and 75% was observed for the inline response and transverse response, respectively. This trend is also apparent for the lift and drag forces when compared with the measuring data of the smooth cylinder, demonstrating a potential solution for these mitigation tools. A further experimental investigation was performed in a wind tunnel to examine VIV behavior in an attempt to understand the free end effect with a high Reynolds number and a rigid installation without adding storing elements. Wind tunnel experiments were conducted at Reynolds numbers ranging from 3.6 × 104 to 3.26 × 105. The current study produced several important results. The study showed that the response amplitude with vortex shedding was finite, even at the synchronization point. It increased with flow velocity and affected synchronization behavior. The lock-in region was reduced to a certain point. Results suggested that nonlinearities occurred when vortices were shed due to the influence of the free end conditions and the higher Reynolds numbers. The present study focused on aspects that have not been fully addressed by previous studies, such as end-cell induced vibration. The end-cell-induced vibration that occurred at a high wind speed was not influenced by the high damping ratio of the model, while the amplitude response of the ordinary VIV decreased significantly. Generally, the use of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) has added value in supporting decisions surrounding the risk management of operating assets. Regarding the numerical investigations of the VIV of a cantilever cylinder, the new models for suppressing VIV were examined. The effect of these tools was tested numerically using CFD simulation, which is an attractive and cost-effective alternative to model tests. Numerical simulations were carried out for a low mass ratio cylinder model subjected to uniform flow. The present numerical model was first verified for different grid resolutions and validated by comparison with published experimental data, and the results indicate that the outcome was satisfactory. The supercritical to upper transition flow regime around a 3D smooth circular cylinder at a Reynolds number range of 4,000 to 14,000 was examined numerically using standard 3D detached-eddy simulation approaches. The objective of the present study was to evaluate whether the models are applicable for further experiments and engineering design within these flow regimes. The simulation results also demonstrated the feasibility of these devices and encourage further experimental studies. Over the past decades, VIV has been extensively studied, and the majority of literature consists of experiments or semi-empirical modeling. In contrast, FSI simulations, by combining CFD and computational structural dynamics solvers, have received less attention. One of the objectives of this thesis was to investigate the VIV of elastically mounted rigid cylinders and flexible cylinders using fully 3D FSI simulations. The results from 3D simulations were close to previous experimental results. The solid stress tool coupled with a morphed mesh was utilized within StarCCM+ to test their ability to simulate such cases. Laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) is an established technique for spatially resolved imaging of temperature, pressure, density, and gas composition in complex flows. Because the measurement is quasi-instantaneous, it is particularly useful in turbulent and high-velocity flows. While in many applications either already existing species or species created during the process (e.g., fuels, products, or intermediates in practical combustion) are excited to fluoresce, so-called fluorescence tracers are added in inert flows or for answering specific questions via tracer LIF. Their photophysical characterization is crucial for quantitative analysis of measurements in practical applications. This work focuses on the advancement and application of the tracer LIF technique for the investigation of mixing processes in accelerated transonic and supersonic flows under conditions that occur, e.g., in supersonic combustion of air-breathing hypersonic propulsion systems or in proposed supersonic reactors for the synthesis of nanoparticles. For the chemical reactions that take place in both cases, efficient mixing of reactants at the molecular level within the short time scales available in the fast flows is crucial. To assess mixing at the molecular level, the sensitivity of aromatic tracers to collisional quenching by molecular oxygen was exploited. In a purpose-built air-driven modular flow channel at the ITLR in Stuttgart, the macroscopic and microscopic mixing behavior in the transonic wake of a central injector was measured by imaging in joint measurement campaigns as part of a collaborative project. The transonic mixing boundary layers encountered are associated with strong pressure and temperature gradients. In particular, the strong cross-dependence of the LIF signal of the applied tracers on these flow conditions represents a major challenge for the quantitative signal evaluation. Because the temperature range in the specific applications is below the previously explored conditions, hardly any photophysical data was previously available. To determine the missing spectroscopic information, two experiments, a cooled fluorescence flow cell and an optically accessible miniature flow channel, were developed. While the flow cell enabled precise and independent adjustment of pressure and temperature, conditions similar to those in the Stuttgart flow channel could be created in the miniature flow channel. In addition to the development and application-oriented testing of LIF measurement strategies, the miniature flow channel is also suited for spectroscopic measurements, since it can be operated with pure nitrogen containing variable amounts of oxygen. In this work, two fluorescence tracers, anisole and toluene, were characterized in detail for low temperatures with particular emphasis on mixing studies at the molecular level. Within the framework of MABMEM research project, newly developed polyether sulfone (PESU)-based and polyphenylene sulfone (PPSU)-based single bore hollow fiber UF membranes were evaluated in comparative and standardized fouling tests. To realize a reliable decision-making process regarding promising membrane candidates within a reasonable experiment time, it was crucial to design lab-scale filtration experiments as close as possible to real-scale UF plants. Most of literature reporting on performance of ultrafiltration membranes were performed in bench-scale experiments employing flat-sheets at operating conditions far from what is seen in real-scale applications. Moreover, the employed feed solutions were mostly made from real natural resources, where maintaining their quality over long testing periods is often a challenge. In addition, the ability of extensively reported synthetic fouling surrogates to resemble typical organic fouling by real surface waters remains questionable. Therefore, there is an imperative need for an appropriate lab-scale testing protocol employing reliable fouling surrogates. In this study, an application-oriented testing protocol employing mini-plant testing unit was developed. Performance of new modified membrane modules was investigated and compared with performance of commercially available Multibore�� modules, as standard membrane, at conditions close to full-scale application. Potting soil extracts were investigated as reliable and inexpensive model foulants. They were comprehensively characterized and compared with real surface water samples as well as commonly reported fouling surrogates (humic acid, bovine serum albumin, alginate, colloidal silica). Potting soil extract feeds were emphasized to imitate chemical composition and characteristics of moderately organic-loaded surface waters, at high reproducibility, and induce typical organic fouling within experiment time. At comparable total organic carbon content, aqueous extracts of four potting soil types had different dissolved organic carbon compositions and turbidity. Humic substances were the main constituents; however, hydrophobic organic carbon (HOC) and biopolymers varied significantly. Feeds exhibiting high biopolymer content or a combination of biopolymer and HOC were able to distinguish explicitly between fouling propensity of different modified membrane materials. Besides regular performance measures, fouling propensity was quantified as hydraulic irreversible fouling index (HIFI). This fouling index was correlated to the turbidity removal; however, no consistent correlation was found between HIFI and humics as well as low molecular weight organic fractions in the potting soil extracts. Furthermore, impact of feed solution type on the interplay between membrane characteristics and HIFI values was investigated. Good correlation between PPSU-based membrane characteristics and HIFI values was noticed upon using feeds containing considerable biopolymers and HOC portions. Nonetheless, no reliable correlations could be observed in case of PESU-based membranes which was attributed to the dominant impact by more relevant parameters, i.e., pure water permeability., Im Rahmen des MABMEM-Forschungsprojekts wurden neu entwickelte Polyethersulfon (PESU) -basierte und Polyphenylensulfon (PPSU) -basierte Single-Bore-Hohlfaser-UF-Membranen in standardisierten Foulingversuchen verglichen und bewertet. Bisherige Untersuchungen zur Leistungsf��higkeit von Ultrafiltrationsversuchen im Laborma��stab wurden ��berwiegend unter Verwendung von Flachmembranen und bei Betriebsbedingungen durchgef��hrt, die den realen Anwendungsfall nur unzureichend widerspiegeln. Dar��ber hinaus werden die verwendeten Feed-L��sungen meist aus nat��rlichen Rohstoffen hergestellt, was die Qualit��tssicherung ��ber l��ngere Zeitr��ume schwierig macht. Gleichzeitig ist die F��higkeit von synthetischen Fouling-Surrogaten (���Foulants���), organisches Fouling durch reale Oberfl��chenw��sser zu simulieren, fraglich. Es besteht folglich ein hoher Bedarf an zuverl��ssigen Fouling-Surrogaten sowie aussagekr��ftigen Testprozeduren im Laborma��stab. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wurde ein anwendungsorientiertes Testprotokoll entwickelt, das 24 Filtrationszyklen unter Verwendung einer Membranfiltrationsanlage im Laborma��stab umfasst. Dieses wurde eingesetzt, um die Leistungsf��higkeit von neuartigen, speziell modifizierten Membranmodulen zu untersuchen und mit der Leistung von kommerziell erh��ltlichen Multibore��-Modulen unter anwendungsnahen Bedingungen zu vergleichen. Dabei wurden Blumenerdeextrakte als zuverl��ssige und kosteng��nstige Foulants eingesetzt. Diese wurden umfassend charakterisiert und mit realen Oberfl��chenwasserproben sowie mit h��ufig eingesetzten Fouling-Surrogaten (Humins��ure, Rinderserumalbumin, Alginat, kolloidale Kiesels��ure) verglichen. Aufgrund ihrer chemischen Zusammensetzung weisen Blumenerdeextrakte ��hnliche Eigenschaften wie m����ig organisch belastete Oberfl��chenw��sser auf und induzierten w��hrend der Versuchszeit ein f��r diese W��sser typisches organisches Fouling. Gleichzeitig waren die Versuche gut reproduzierbar. Bei vergleichbarem Gesamtgehalt an organischem Kohlenstoff unterscheiden sich die w��ssrigen Extrakte von vier Blumenerde-Typen in ihrer Zusammensetzung. Huminstoffe waren bei allen untersuchten Typen die Hauptbestandteile; die Gehalte an hydrophobem organischem Kohlenstoff (HOC) und Biopolymeren variierten jedoch deutlich. Extrakte, die eine hohe Konzentrationen an Biopolymeren oder eine Kombination von Biopolymeren und HOC enthielten, eigneten sich dabei in besonderer Weise zur Charakterisierung unterschiedlicher Membranmaterialien. Neben allgemein bekannten Kennzahlen wurde die Foulingneigung auch als hydraulisch irreversibler Fouling-Index (HIFI) quantifiziert. Dieser Fouling-Index korrelierte mit der Entfernung der Tr��bung, es konnte jedoch keine konsistente Korrelation mit dem Gehalt an Huminstoffen und niedermolekularen organischen Fraktionen im Feed festgestellt werden. Dar��ber hinaus wurde der Einfluss der Feed-L��sung (d.h. der Extrakt-Typ) auf die Wechselwirkung zwischen Membraneigenschaften und HIFI-Werten untersucht. Eine gute Korrelation zwischen den Membraneigenschaften PPSU-basierter Membranen und den HIFI-Werten wurde bei der Verwendung von Feeds mit erh��hten Biopolymer- und HOC-Anteilen festgestellt. Diese Korrelation konnte bei den untersuchten PESU-Membranen nicht beobachtet werden, da die entsprechenden Effekte vermutlich durch die deutlich gr����ere Reinwasserpermeabilit��t dieses Membrantyps ��berlagert werden.

In this work, a comprehensive database for the thermodynamic properties of a large group of silicon-organic compounds is provided. A reaction mechanism is also developed for tetramethylsilane (TMS) as a precursor in the flame synthesis of silica nanoparticles. In the first part of this work, a combinatorial consideration is applied to derive group additivity values (GAVs) required to describe the thermochemistry of a large group of silicon-organic compounds. Due to a lack of experimental data for Si���C���H���O species, the thermochemistry of species is calculated by quantum chemical calculations. The theoretically calculated compounds are considered as a training set for the regression of GAVs. Based on the group additivity method, a multivariate linear regression analysis is performed. The regressed group additivity values serve as an alternative for the estimation of thermodynamic data of new silicon-organic compounds. The uncertainty of quantum chemical calculations, as well as the uncertainty of GAVs are discussed in this work. The final results are provided as databases. For the second part of this work, a kinetics model is developed for the decomposition and oxidation of TMS as a promising precursor for the flame synthesis of silica nanoparticles. The reaction mechanism is developed and validated based on the experimental data. The reaction pathways analysis and the sensitivity analysis are performed to the developed kinetics model. The sources of uncertainty and the possibility to improve the kinetics model are discussed. In this mechanism, reaction rate coefficients are either estimated via an algorithmic optimization procedure or are assumed based on analogies to similar reactions in the literature or calculated using Rice���Ramsperger���Kassel���Marcus theory (RRKM) theory. The genetic algorithm-based optimizer is also extended in this work., In dieser Arbeit wird eine umfassende Datenbank f��r die thermodynamischen Eigenschaften einer gro��en Gruppe von siliziumorganischen Verbindungen bereitgestellt. Au��erdem wird ein Reaktionsmechanismus f��r Tetramethylsilan (TMS) als Vorl��ufer f��r die Flammensynthese von Siliziumdioxid-Nanopartikeln entwickelt. Im ersten Teil dieser Arbeit wird eine kombinatorische Betrachtung angewandt, um Gruppenadditivit��tswerte (GAVs) abzuleiten, die zur Beschreibung der Thermochemie einer gro��en Gruppe von siliziumorganischen Verbindungen erforderlich sind. Die regressierten Werte der Gruppenadditivit��t dienen als Alternative f��r die Sch��tzung der thermodynamischen Daten neuer siliziumorganischer Verbindungen. Die Unsicherheit von quantenchemischen Berechnungen sowie die Unsicherheit von GAVs werden in dieser Arbeit diskutiert. Die Endergebnisse werden als Datenbanken zur Verf��gung gestellt. Im zweiten Teil dieser Arbeit wird ein kinetisches Modell f��r die Zersetzung und Oxidation von TMS als vielversprechendes Ausgangsmaterial f��r die Flammensynthese von Siliziumdioxid-Nanopartikeln entwickelt. Der Reaktionsmechanismus wird auf der Grundlage der experimentellen Daten entwickelt und validiert. Die Analyse der Reaktionswege und die Sensitivit��tsanalyse werden f��r das entwickelte kinetische Modell durchgef��hrt. Die Quellen der Unsicherheit und die M��glichkeiten zur Verbesserung des kinetischen Modells werden diskutiert. Bei diesem Mechanismus werden die Reaktionsgeschwindigkeitskoeffizienten entweder ��ber ein algorithmisches Optimierungsverfahren gesch��tzt oder auf der Grundlage von Analogien zu ��hnlichen Reaktionen in der Literatur angenommen oder anhand der Rice-Ramsperger-Kassel-Marcus-Theorie (RRKM) berechnet. Der auf einem genetischen Algorithmus basierende Optimierer wird in dieser Arbeit ebenfalls erweitert.

The development of semiconductors with extended lifetime that split water photocatalytically under visible-light irradiation is a path to efficient conversion of solar energy. The aim of this work is the production of zinc-gallium oxynitride nanoparticles (Ga1-xZnx)(N1-xOx) with a high potential for improved photocatalytic activity. Chemical Vapor Synthesis (CVS) is used in this thesis to generate nanoparticles of high purity with well-defined composition, structure, size distribution and high surface area. ��-Ga2O3 is used for optimization of the CVS process to obtain quantitative structure-property correlations. As demonstrated, a temperature of 1200��C and pressure of 300 mbar are found to be optimal. Pure phase and highly crystalline ��-Ga2O3 with crystallite size of about 20 nm and specific surface area of 62 m2/g is generated from inexpensive solid gallium acetylacetonate precursor. With optimal loading of Rh/Cr2O3 co-catalysts this sample is regarded as photocatalytically the most active for overall water splitting under UV light compared to all samples synthesized in this work. In addition, the high reproducibility of the sample is confirmed applying the same CVS parameters. CVS ��-Ga2O3 demonstrates a better stability for long time irradiation under UV light compared to commercial Ga2O3. X-ray absorption (XANES and EXAFS) data indicate that ��-Ga2O3 nanoparticles do not undergo significant local structural changes during overall water splitting experiments. Light absorption and charge carrier generation can be optimized by size effects and doping and charge carrier separation by low defect density (high crystallinity) and band alignment through microstructural variations. ��-Ga2O3 is doped with Mn, Rh and Fe to investigate the change in electronic structure and corresponding photocatalytic activity. Doping with 0.26 % of Mn shows the highest photocatalytic activity among doped samples at optimal co-catalyst loading, but still lower than for pure ��-Ga2O3. Higher dopant concentrations above 1 % generate higher defect densities in the material, which has a negative effect on photocatalytic activity. By combining Zn and Ga precursors and varying their delivery sequences a mixture of ZnO and ��-Ga2O3 (using two reactors), as well as the complex spinel phase ZnGa2O4 (using one reactor) are generated. During the nitridation process nitrogen is incorporated into the crystal structure, while oxygen and zinc are eliminated to form (Ga1-xZnx)(N1-xOx). It is possible to tune atomic composition and band edge positions by varying nitridation times from 0.17 h to 10 h at a temperature of 850��C. The Zn volatilization rate during thermal nitridation starting from spinel ZnGa2O4 is lower compared to ZnO-Ga2O3 mixture. ZnGa2O4 and ZnO-Ga2O3 are nitrided for 5 h at 850��C, which are the optimal nitridation conditions, and Zn/(Zn+Ga) ratios of 0.15 and 0.03, respectively, are observed. Hence, oxynitrides made from ZnGa2O4 show about four times higher photocatalytic activity than oxynitride from ZnO-Ga2O3. However, all nitrided samples show lower activities in UV region compared to pure ��-Ga2O3, which is also due to increased defect density and higher recombination probability. Microwave assisted plasma nitridation of ZnGa2O4 is developed and employed with the aim to decrease the nitridation temperature and increase the Zn/(Zn+Ga) ratio. NH3 and N2 are decomposed in a microwave plasma reactor. The wurtzite phase, typical for oxynitrides, is observed already at 550��C. When NH3 is decomposed by microwave plasma a very aggressive reduction atmosphere (concentration of H2 increases) is created leading to an even faster loss of Zn. This is avoided by using N2 as reaction gas and the Zn/(Zn+Ga) ratio changes very little at lower nitridation temperatures. However, the disadvantage of this method is a strong charging of the powder and its loss during the process. Therefore, the powder must be pelleted, which causes co-sintering of the particles during nitridation. After regeneration of powder from pellets the specific surface area is strongly decreased and photocatalytic activity drops. To generate GaN nanoparticles directly via CVS at lower pressures (e.g. 20 mbar) triethylgallium, as an alternative oxygen-free liquid precursor compared to solid gallium acetylacetonate, is used. This precursor reacts violently in ambient air or in contact with water, and they are very difficult to handle. In this work final nanoparticle characteristics and their photocatalytic activities are correlated and supported by comprehensive structural and spectroscopic characterization., Die Entwicklung von Halbleitern mit verl��ngerter Lebensdauer, die Wasser unter Bestrahlung mit sichtbarem Licht photokatalytisch spalten, ist ein Weg zur effizienten Umwandlung von Sonnenenergie. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist die Herstellung von Zink-Gallium-Oxynitrid-Nanopartikeln (Ga1-xZnx)(N1-xOx) mit einem hohen Potenzial f��r eine verbesserte photokatalytische Aktivit��t. Chemische Gasphasensynthese (CVS) wird in dieser Arbeit verwendet, um Nanopartikel von hoher Reinheit mit gut definierter Zusammensetzung, Struktur, Gr����enverteilung und hoher Oberfl��che zu erzeugen. ��-Ga2O3 wird zur Optimierung des CVS-Prozesses verwendet, um quantitative Struktur-Eigenschafts-Korrelationen zu erhalten. Wie gezeigt, erweisen sich eine Temperatur von 1200��C und ein Druck von 300 mbar als optimal. Reinphasiges und hochkristallines ��-Ga2O3 mit einer Kristallitgr����e von etwa 20 nm und einer spezifischen Oberfl��che von 62 m2/g wird aus einem kosteng��nstigen festen Galliumacetylacetonat-Precursor erzeugt. Bei optimaler Beladung mit Rh/Cr2O3 Co-Katalysatoren gilt diese Probe im Vergleich zu allen in dieser Arbeit synthetisierten Proben als die photokatalytisch aktivste f��r die Gesamtwasserspaltung unter UV-Licht. Dar��ber hinaus wird die hohe Reproduzierbarkeit der Probe bei Verwendung der gleichen CVS-Parameter best��tigt. CVS ��-Ga2O3 zeigt eine bessere Stabilit��t bei Langzeitbestrahlung unter UV-Licht im Vergleich zu kommerziellen Ga2O3. R��ntgenabsorptionsdaten (XANES und EXAFS) zeigen, dass die ��-Ga2O3 Nanopartikel w��hrend der Wasserspaltungsexperimente keine signifikanten lokalen Strukturver��nderungen erfahren. Lichtabsorption und Ladungstr��gergenerierung k��nnen durch Gr����eneffekte und Dotierung und Ladungstr��gertrennung durch geringe Defektdichte (hohe Kristallinit��t) und Bandausrichtung durch mikrostrukturelle Variationen optimiert werden. ��-Ga2O3 wird mit Mn, Rh und Fe dotiert, um die Ver��nderung der elektronischen Struktur und die entsprechende photokatalytische Aktivit��t zu untersuchen. Die Dotierung mit 0.26 % Mn zeigt die h��chste photokatalytische Aktivit��t unter den dotierten Proben bei optimaler Co-Katalysatorbeladung, aber immer noch niedriger als bei reinem ��-Ga2O3. H��here Dotierstoffkonzentrationen ��ber 1 % verursachen h��here Defektdichten im Material. Dies wirkt sich negativ auf die photokatalytische Aktivit��t aus. Durch die Kombination von Zn- und Ga-Precursoren und die Variation Ihrer Zufuhrsequenz wird eine Mischung aus ZnO und ��-Ga2O3 (unter Verwendung von zwei Reaktoren), sowie die komplexe Spinellphase ZnGa2O4 (unter Verwendung eines Reaktors) erzeugt. W��hrend des Nitridierungsprozess wird Stickstoff in der Kristallstruktur der synthetisierten CVS Oxide eingebaut und Sauerstoff und Zink eliminiert, um (Ga1-xZnx)(N1-xOx) zu bilden. Durch Variation von Nitridierungszeiten von 0.17 h bis 10 h bei einer Temperatur von 850��C ist es m��glich, die atomare Zusammensetzung und die Bandkantenpositionen einzustellen. Die Zn-Verdampfungsrate w��hrend der thermischen Nitridierung ist im Vergleich zur ZnO-Ga2O3 Mischung ausgehend vom Spinell ZnGa2O4, deutlich geringer. ZnGa2O4 und ZnO-Ga2O3 werden f��r 5 h bei 850��C nitridiert. Dies sind die optimalen Nitridierungsbedingungen und es werden Zn/(Zn+Ga) Verh��ltnisse von 0.15 bzw. 0.03 beobachtet. Dabei zeigt das Oxynitrid aus ZnGa2O4 eine etwa viermal h��here photokatalytische Aktivit��t als das Oxynitrid aus ZnO-Ga2O3. Allerdings zeigen alle nitridierten Proben geringere Aktivit��ten im Vergleich zu reinem ��-Ga2O3 im UV Bereich was auch auf eine erh��hte Defektdichte und h��here Rekombinationswahrscheinlichkeit zur��ckgef��hrt werden kann. Die mikrowellenunterst��tzte Plasmanitridierung von ZnGa2O4 wird mit dem Ziel eingesetzt, die Nitridierungstemperatur zu senken und das Zn/(Zn+Ga) Verh��ltnis zu erh��hen. NH3 und N2 werden durch den Mikrowellenplasmareaktor zersetzt und die f��r Oxynitride typische Wurtzitphase wird bereits bei 550��C beobachtet. Bei der Zersetzung von NH3 mittels Mikrowellenplasma entsteht eine sehr aggressive Reduktionsatmosphere (Konzentration von H2 steigt an), die zu einem noch schnelleren Verlust von Zn f��hrt. Dies wird durch die Verwendung von N2 als Reaktionsgas vermieden und das Zn/(Zn+Ga) Verh��ltnis ��ndert sich bei niedrigeren Nitridierungstemperaturen nur wenig. Der Nachteil dieser Methode ist jedoch eine starke Aufladung des Pulvers und dessen Verlust w��hrend des Prozesses. Daher muss das Pulver pelletiert werden, was zu einer Versinterung der Partikel w��hrend der Nitridierung f��hrt. Nach der Regeneration des Pulvers aus den Pellets nimmt die spezifische Oberfl��che stark ab und die photokatalytische Aktivit��t sinkt entsprechend. Um GaN Nanopartikel direkt ��ber CVS bei niedrigeren Dr��cken (z.B. 20 mbar) zu erzeugen, wird Triethylgallium, als alternativer sauerstofffreier fl��ssiger Precursor im Vergleich zu festem Galliumacetylacetonat, verwendet. Dieser Precursor reagiert an der Luft oder in Kontakt mit Wasser heftig und ist sehr schwierig zu handhaben. Deshalb wurde eine neuartige, komplexe und einzigartige Precursor-Zufuhreinheit, die sogenannte Inertgasbox entwickelt. Es werden GaN Nanopartikel mit einer Kristallit��tgr����e unter 3 nm und einer sehr hohen spezifischen Oberfl��che von 160 m2/g erzeugt. Die Korrelation zwischen den endg��ltigen Eigenschaften der Nanopartikel und ihren photokatalytischen Aktivit��ten, unterst��tzt durch eine umfassende strukturelle und spektroskopische Charakterisierung, wird in dieser Arbeit dargestellt.

This study mainly explores comprehensive investigations which were carried out on fouling scenarios in Polyethersulfone hollow-fiber (HF) membrane modules occurring during filtration of various suspensions containing microalgae. Intensity and various types of fouling were correlated to properties and cell condition of the microalgae, organic components of the algal-containing suspension, and membrane retention. Four microalgae species were individually suspended in two extreme cell conditions which are intact (i.e., growth / algae bloom phase) and lysed (i.e., death and ultimate cell breakage phase). Suspensions were made without prior separation of algal cells, debris, and algae organic matter (AOM) as in case of real application. Mini-plant filtration experiments were performed at operating conditions close to full-scale application, up to 16 multiple cycles of dead-end constant flux filtration and mechanical backwashing, equivalent to 1,040 L/m2 total filtered volume per one experiment. Moreover, the temporal variation of fouling mechanisms with the number of filtration cycles performed was modelled via a consolidation between classical pore blocking filtration model and resistance-in-series model using a self-made algorithm. This method allows changes in the contribution of different fouling mechanisms (in fouling rates per cycle and in fouling reversibility over multiple filtration cycles) to be properly interpreted. Additionally, the observed fouling behavior could be identified as combined fouling and reliably correlated with the ratio of individual chemical substances in the AOM and chlorophyll-a concentration, as well as with the cell conformation and size distribution of the microalgae. The vast majority of experiments reported in the literature investigating membrane performance loss and fouling behavior during filtration of microalgae were conducted using flat sheet membranes (FS) that are backwashable only once, if at all. Additionally, the fouling mechanisms (in particular, cake layer formation) could differ due to the different hydrodynamic conditions in FS and HF at macroscale (i.e., no cross-flow vs. low cross-flow). This may also influence the responsible fouling mechanisms in microscale that may result in, for instance, different fouling layer morphology and/or distribution along the membrane surface. Thus, the motivation of the second part of the thesis was to investigate the extent to which the performance of FS in laboratory-scale experiments could be comparable to that of HF operated at full-scale conditions. The performance and fouling propensity of FS and HF were compared in terms of normalized decrease in membrane permeability, chronological analysis of fouling mechanisms, individual fouling mechanisms and fouling rates, membrane retention, and initial fouling in the early filtration phase (onset of fouling)., Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht Fouling-Szenarien in Polyethersulfon-Hohlfaser (HF)-Membranmodulen, die bei der Filtration von verschiedenen mikroalgenhaltigen Suspensionen auftreten. Dabei wurden die Intensität und die Art des Foulings mit dem Membranrückhalt sowie den Charakteristika der jeweiligen Feedsuspension korreliert, d. h. dem Zellzustand der Mikroalgen sowie den organischen Bestandteilen der Suspension. Dazu wurden Versuche mit vier unterschiedlichen Mikroalgenspezies durchgeführt, welche in jeweils zwei sehr unterschiedlichen Zellzuständen vorlagen, zum einen als intakte Zellen in der sogenannten Wachstumsphase, zum anderen als lysierte Zellen, d.h. abgestorben und teilweise zerstört. Wie im realen Anwendungsfall wurden die Mikroalgensuspensionen hergestellt, ohne zuvor Zelltrümmer oder algenbürtige, extrazelluläre Substanzen (AOM) abzutrennen. Die Filtrationsversuche wurden mit einer Membrananlage im Labormaßstab unter Betriebsbedingungen durchgeführt, die der Anwendung im großtechnischen Maßstab nahekommen. Im Dead-End-Modus wurde in bis zu 16 Zyklen (ein Zyklus entspricht jeweils einer Filtration mit konstantem Flux gefolgt von einer hydraulischen Rückspülung) ein Gesamtvolumen von 1.040 L/m2 pro Experiment filtriert. Darüber hinaus wurde die zeitliche Änderung der Fouling-Mechanismen über die Anzahl der durchgeführten Filtrationszyklen mit Hilfe eines selbst entwickelten Algorithmus modelliert, wobei das klassische „Pore Blocking“-Modell und das „Resistance in Series“-Modell kombiniert wurden. Dadurch war es möglich, sowohl den sich ändernden Einfluss verschiedener Foulingmechanismen als auch die Änderung der Foulingrate pro Zyklus sowie die Reversibilität des Foulings über verschiedene Zyklen zu interpretieren. Zudem konnte das beobachtete Foulingverhalten als kombiniertes Fouling identifiziert und zuverlässig mit dem Verhältnis der einzelnen chemischen Substanzen der AOM und der Chlorophyll-a-Konzentration sowie mit der Zellform und -größenverteilung der Mikroalgen korreliert werden. Die überwiegende Mehrzahl der in der Literatur beschriebenen Versuche zur Leistungsfähigkeit und zum Fouling von Membranen bei der Filtration von Mikroalgen wurden mit Flachmembranen durchgeführt. Diese sind jedoch, wenn überhaupt, nur ein einziges Mal rückspülbar. Zudem können sich durch die unterschiedlichen hydrodynamischen Bedingungen (gar keine Überströmung der Membran gegenüber geringer Überströmung) die jeweiligen Foulingmechanismen, insbesondere die Kuchenbildung, erheblich von jenen in makroskaligen Hohlfasermembranprozessen unterscheiden. Dies kann die entsprechenden Foulingmechanismen beeinflussen und führt unter Umständen zu einer unterschiedlichen Morphologie der Foulingschicht oder einer anderen Verteilung derselben auf der Membranoberfläche. Ein weiteres Ziel dieser Arbeit war daher die Untersuchung der Übertragbarkeit von mit Flachmembranen im Labormaßstab generierten Membranleistungsdaten auf großtechnische Hohlfasermembrananlagen. Dazu wurde die Leistungsfähigkeit sowie die Foulingneigung von Flach- und Hohlfasermembranen verglichen. Untersucht wurden die normalisierte Membranpermeabilität, individuelle Foulingmechanismen und -raten sowie der Membranrückhalt und das Fouling in der frühen Phase der Filtration. Zudem erfolgte eine chronologische Analyse der Foulingmechanismen.

Lithium-Ionen-Batterien (LIB) stellen die derzeit wichtigste Technologie zur elektrochemischen Energiespeicherung dar. In den ersten kommerziell erhältlichen LIB wurde Graphit als negative Elektrode, und Lithium-Kobalt(III)oxid (LCO) als positive Elektrode verwendet. Auch heutzutage haben LIB bestehend aus diesen beiden Materialien noch immer den höchsten Marktanteil, trotz gewisser Nachteile wie beispielsweise geringe spezifische Kapazitäten und unzureichende Laderaten. Dies hat zur Folge, dass deren Einsatz in den immer wichtiger werdenden Anwendungsfeldern Elektromobilität und Batterie-Speicherkraftwerke begrenzt ist. Um die Leistungsfähigkeit von LIB zu steigern und somit auch Verbesserungen in den genannten Gebieten zu erzielen, wurden in den letzten Jahren verschiedene Strategien untersucht. Der am häufigste verfolgte Ansatz ist hierbei, die etablierten Aktivmaterialien durch jene mit einer weiterentwickelten Chemie der Ladungsspeicherung und folglich höheren spezifischen Kapazitäten zu ersetzen. Das Potential dieser Strategie wird in dieser Arbeit beispielsweise anhand von Zinn(IV)oxid gezeigt, welches insbesondere aufgrund seiner sehr hohen theoretischen Kapazität eine interessante Alternative zu Graphit darstellt. Diese hohe Kapazität kann jedoch nur im Falle von nanometergroßen Zinnoxid Partikeln erreicht werden, da nur dann die entsprechenden Lithiierungs- und Delithiierungsreaktionen vollständig reversibel ablaufen. Zudem ermöglicht die Nanoskalierung des Aktivmaterials kürzere Li+ Diffusionswege, wodurch eine Verbesserung der Lithiierungs- und Delithiierungskinetiken erzielt werden kann. Diese Strategie eignet sich, wie in dieser Arbeit gezeigt, auch um andere Anoden- und Kathodenmaterialien wie LiCoO2 und Li(NixCoyMnz)O2 weiterzuentwickeln. Um die elektrochemische Leistungsfähigkeit zusätzlich zu verbessern, ist neben der Steuerung der Partikelgröße des Aktivmaterials die Herstellung von Verbundmaterialien von Vorteil. Diese Verbundmaterialien setzen sich aus dem Aktivmaterial und leitfähigen Trägermaterialien zusammen. Letztere sind typischerweise kohlenstoffhaltige Verbindungen, wie zum Beispiel Kohlenstoffnanoröhren (CNT), reduziertes Graphenoxid (rGO) oder Kohlenstoffnanofasern. Diese Trägermaterialien tragen zu einer signifikanten Erhöhung der Gesamtleitfähigkeit bei und verleihen den Verbundelektroden darüber hinaus eine hohe strukturelle Stabilität. Die Vorteilhaftigkeit dieses Ansatzes wird in dieser Arbeit anhand verschiedener Anoden- (SnO2 und MoS2) und Kathodenmaterialien (LiFe0.2Mn0.8PO4; LFMP) gezeigt. Eine Verbesserung der elektrochemischen Leistungsfähigkeit einer Batterie kann nicht nur durch Verwendung neuer und/oder verbesserter Materialien erfolgen. Eine zusätzliche Option stellt die Optimierung der Elektrodenarchitektur dar, welche als Ergänzung zu erstgenannten Vorgehensweisen fungieren kann. Die derzeit verwendeten Elektroden bestehen typischerweise aus Aluminium- oder Kupferfolien, auf denen das Aktivmaterial aufgetragen wurde. Die Verwendung solcher Folien als Stromabnehmer hat jedoch zur Folge, dass die spezifische Gesamtkapazität aufgrund des hohen Anteils an elektrochemisch inaktivem Material verringert ist. Ein interessanter Ausweg ist der Einsatz von freistehenden Elektroden, die keine metallischen Trägerfolien benötigen. Frei- oder selbststehende Elektroden sind typischerweise Hybridmaterialien, die aus einer (kohlenstoffhaltigen) Trägermatrix aufgebaut sind, in der das Aktivmaterial eingebettet ist. Aufgrund des eingesparten Stromabnehmers weisen freistehende Elektroden, im Vergleich zu herkömmlichen Elektroden, einen insgesamt geringeren Anteil an elektrochemisch inaktiven Materialien auf. In dieser Arbeit werden freistehende ATO/rGO, MoS2/CNT und LFMP/rGO Verbundmaterialien vorgestellt, die sehr gute elektrochemische Eigenschaften zeigen. Zusammenfassend zeigt diese Arbeit das große Potenzial verschiedener (nanostrukturierter) Anoden- und Kathodenmaterialien mit Partikelgrößen im Nanometerbereich. Außerdem konnte gezeigt werden, dass der Einsatz von Kompositmaterialien, die durch Einbettung des Aktivmaterials in eine kohlenstoffhaltige Trägermatrix gewonnen wurden, die Zyklenstabilität und Leistungsfähigkeit bei unterschiedlichen C-Raten drastisch verbesserte. Weiterhin zeigten die untersuchten freistehenden Kompositelektroden eine bemerkenswerte und äußerst vielversprechende elektrochemische Leistungsfähigkeit, welche unter anderem auf die verringerte Menge an elektrochemisch inaktivem Material zurückzuführen ist. Die in dieser Arbeit gewonnenen Erkenntnisse bezüglich Strukturoptimierung, Zusammensetzung und (neuer) Synthesetechniken können ferner zur Entwicklung zukünftiger Aktivmaterialien für Hochleistungsbatterien beitragen, welche insbesondere benötigt werden, um die angestrebte Elektrifizierung des Mobilitäts- und Energiesektors erfolgreich umzusetzen., Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) represent the currently most important technology for electrochemical energy storage. The first commercialized LIBs used graphite as negative electrode and lithium cobalt oxide (LCO) as positive electrode. LIBs composed of these two materials still have the highest market share. However, graphite and LCO have several disadvantages including their restricted specific capacities and slow charging rates, which limits their application in the currently emerging fields of electromobility and large-scale energy storage. In order to improve the performance of LIBs and thus increasing their applicability in the mentioned fields, several strategies were studied in recent years. Replacing graphite and LCO by materials with an advanced charge storage chemistry and consequently higher theoretical capacities is one of the most intensively pursued approaches. Tin (IV) oxide as a member of this group is studied in this thesis being an interesting alternative to graphite due to its very high theoretical capacity. However, the lithiation and delithiation reactions are completely reversible only for nanosized tin oxide particles, therefore nanostructuring is essential for reaching high reversible capacity of tin oxide-based electrodes. Nanoscaling of the active material can furthermore improve the lithiation and delithiation kinetics resulting from a shortened Li+ diffusion path and is therefore also an appealing strategy to improve other anode and cathode materials. The proposed strategy is also applicable to improve other anode and cathode materials, like Li(NixCoyMnz)O2 (NCM) or LiMnPO4 (LMP), as shown in this thesis. Besides controlling the particle size of the active material, its incorporation into conductive supports to form a hybrid material is additionally beneficial to improve the electrochemical performance. Conductive support materials typically include carbonaceous materials such as carbon nanotubes (CNTs), reduced graphene oxide (rGO), or carbon nanofibers. Those support materials provide an increased overall conductivity and a high structural stability of the resulting composite electrodes. In this thesis, the positive effects of the formation of hybrid materials are demonstrated for different anode (SnO2 and MoS2) and cathode (LiFe0.2Mn0.8PO4; LFMP) active materials. Enhancing the electrochemical performance of a battery not only rests on using new and/or improved materials. Optimization of the overall electrode architecture can be an additional option and can complement the former. Currently used electrodes consist of aluminum or copper foils coated with active material. However, using such foils as current collectors results in a large amount of electrochemically inactive material that decreases the overall specific capacity. An interesting strategy to solve this issue is the utilization of freestanding electrodes that do not require metallic supports. Free- or selfstanding electrodes are typically hybrid materials consisting of the active material embedded into a (carbonaceous) support matrix. Due to the absence of an additional current collector, freestanding electrodes have an overall lower amount of electrochemically inactive materials as compared to conventional electrodes. In this thesis ATO/rGO, MoS2/SWCNT and LFMP/rGO freestanding composites are presented demonstrating excellent electrochemical performance. In summary, this thesis demonstrates the great potential of nanosizing and –structuring of different anode and cathode materials. Moreover, it is shown that embedding the active material into carbonaceous support materials can drastically improve their rate and cycling performance. Furthermore, it was shown that freestanding electrodes can be very attractive to lower the amount of electrochemically inactive material while preserving a remarkable electrochemical performance. With these findings on structural optimization, composition and applicable synthesis techniques this thesis may contribute to the development of future high-performance battery active materials envisioned for a successful transition of the mobility and energy sector towards their electrification.

Der Einsatz von aliphatischen Polymeren wie zum Beispiel Polyethylen oder -propylen erfreut sich trotz ihrer hohen Brennbarkeit in vielen Lebensbereichen einer hohen Beliebtheit. Diese Omnipräsenz ist trotz der hohen Brandgefahr dem Einsatz von Flammschutzmitteln zu verdanken, die in der Vergangenheit hauptsächlich auf Halogenverbindungen basierten. Halogenverbindungen können bei der Verbrennung jedoch giftige und umweltschädliche Substanzen auf Basis von Chlor oder Brom freisetzen. Gegenwärtig wird vermehrt auf umweltfreundlichere Alternativen bezüglich des Flammschutzmittels zurückgegriffen, die auf Metallen oder Elementen wie Phosphor basieren. Solche Additive zeigen ebenfalls vielversprechende flammhemmende Effekte, deren Wirkungsweisen allerdings in weiten Teilen noch nicht vollständig verstanden sind. Flammhemmer wirken meist, indem sie verhindern, dass die für Verbrennungsprozesse essenziellen, wärmefreisetzenden und selbsterhaltenden Kettenreaktionen ablaufen können. Es ist oft unklar, ob die Flammhemmung auf einem Gasphasenmechanismus beruht oder ob der Effekt sich bereits in der kondensierten Phase des Polymers ereignet. In dieser Arbeit wird ein Einblick in die Wirkungsweise dieser „grünen“ alternativen Flammschutzmittel auf Metall- oder Phosphorbasis gegeben und mögliche Methoden zur Analyse solcher vorgestellt. Zunächst muss das im Polymer eingearbeitete Additiv an die brennende Oberfläche gelangen, um von dort entweder in die Gasphase überzugehen oder um den Kohlenwasserstoffverbund durch chemische Reaktionen in der kondensierten Phase zu schützen. Diese Transportprozesse stellen einen wichtigen Schritt zum allgemeinen Verständnis der Flammhemmung dar. In dieser Arbeit werden daher mittels der Methode der isothermen Thermogravimetrie (TGA) sowohl Aktivitäts- als auch Diffusionskoeffizienten in binären Gemischen bestimmt, bei denen der Dampfdruck hauptsächlich vom Additiv dominiert wird. Die Kombination der unterschiedlichen Prozesse aus Verdampfung und Stoffdiffusion in einem Gemisch führt zu einem instationären Massenverlust, der von den Aktivitätskoeffizienten und von den Diffusionskoeffizienten der Gas- bzw. der kondensierten Phase abhängt. Mit der hier vorgestellten neuen Methode lassen sich bei bekanntem Gasphasendiffusionskoeffizienten sowohl der Aktivitätskoeffizient als auch der binäre Diffusionskoeffizient in der kondensierten Phase simultan als Funktion der Temperatur bestimmen. In der Praxis existieren allerdings sehr viele verschiedene Polymer/Flammhemmer-Systeme. Daher wird in dieser Arbeit das Konzept zur Bestimmung der physikalischen Verdampfungs- und Transportparameter explizit für das Modellsystem Ferrocen/n-Tetracosan getestet. Das Metallocen soll dabei ein Flammschutzmittel repräsentieren und das langkettige Alkan wird als simplifizierter Ersatz für ein Polymer herangezogen. Für den untersuchten Temperaturbereich zwischen 343 und 398 K ergibt sich für 343 K ein Aktivitätskoeffizient für Ferrocen von über 3, der mit zunehmender Temperatur auf einen Wert von nahe 1 abfällt. Der Diffusionskoeffizient zeigt eine schwache Temperaturabhängigkeit mit Werten im Bereich von ca. 2 × 10-9 m2∙ s-1. Darüber hinaus wurden die bereits bekannten Dampfdrücke der beiden Reinsubstanzen für diesen Temperaturbereich erneut gemessen. Im Allgemeinen hat sich diese Methode zur Bestimmung von physikalischen Parametern wie Aktivitäts- und Diffusionskoeffizienten als vielversprechend für dieses System erwiesen und zeigt Potenzial auch künftig für die Bestimmung der Transporteigenschaften anderer unbekannter Polymer/Flammhemmer-Systeme gut geeignet zu sein. Zum Einblick in die Wirkungsweise von Flammhemmern in Polymeren wurde das Pyrolyseverhalten in dieser Arbeit konkret für das System bestehend aus ultrahochmolekularem Polyethylen (UHMWPE) und Aluminiumdiethylphosphinat (AlPi) mittels Molekularstrahl-Massenspektrometrie (MBMS) unter isothermen Bedingungen untersucht. Der Wechsel des Modellsystems von n-Tetracosan auf ein „echtes“ Polymer war hier notwendig, um realitätsnahe Bedingungen für einen Flammhemmer im Einsatz zu realisieren. Die relativ komplizierten Polymer-Pyrolysemechanismen spielen für die Wirkungsweise von Flammhemmern eine tragende Rolle. Metallphosphinate wie AlPi stellen eine neue vielversprechende Art von Flammschutzmitteln dar, deren Wirkungsweisen sowohl in der Gas- als auch in der kondensierten Phase noch sehr schlecht untersucht sind. Die Pyrolyseexperimente erfolgten hierbei systematisch, indem die jeweiligen Reinstoffe zunächst einzeln untersucht wurden, bevor anschließend Experimente der Gemische mit unterschiedlichen Additivmengen durchgeführt wurden. Das Ziel dieser Untersuchung war es, phosphorhaltige Spezies in der Gasphase nachzuweisen. Die Experimente zeigen, dass offensichtlich das Hauptzersetzungsprodukt von AlPi durch die Diethylphosphinsäure gegeben ist, welche anschließend zu leichteren Spezies abgebaut werden kann oder Dimere mit doppelter molarer Masse bildet. Im Gemisch wird der AlPi-Zerfall zwar durch das Polymer in der kondensierten Phase beeinflusst, aber die meisten für eine flammhemmende Wirkung verantwortlichen Spezies sind dennoch in der Gasphase vorhanden. In einem weiteren Schritt wurde ergänzend die thermische Zersetzung des Flammhemmers als Funktion der Heizrate untersucht. Letzteres sollte einen näheren Bezug zu der üblicherweise jedem Polymerbrand vorhergehenden Pyrolyse des Polymers in realen Brandszenarien herstellen. Zu diesem Zweck wurde zum einen die Schnellpyrolyse von AlPi mittels der Methode der differentiellen massenspektrometrischen Thermoanalyse (DMSTA) untersucht und zum anderen wurden TGA-Experimente bei moderaten Heizraten durchgeführt. Die Gasphasenentwicklung von AlPi bei niedrigeren Heizraten (TGA) erfolgt durch eine Kombination von Prozessen wie Verdampfung und thermischer Zersetzung, während bei der Schnellpyrolyse das Flammschutzmittel hauptsächlich aufgrund einer höheren Pyrolyse-Starttemperatur von T > 500 °C zersetzt wird. Dabei werden gasförmige, phosphorhaltige Produkte wie zum Beispiel Diethylphosphinsäure freigesetzt. Neben der reinen Pyrolyse wurde der Abbrand von Polyethylen in kerzenähnlichen Diffusionsflammen als Funktion des Additivgehaltes untersucht. Zunächst ergibt sich aus der Bestimmung des Sauerstoffindex (engl. LOI = Limiting Oxygen Index) die Tatsache, dass ab einer Additivmenge von ≥ 10 Gew.-% sich das Polymer unter Umgebungsbedingungen nicht mehr entzünden lässt. Geringere Mengen hingegen erlauben trotz der Flammhemmerbeteiligung das Ausbilden einer selbsterhaltenden Flamme. Mittels Thermometrie und der Aufnahme von ortsaufgelösten 1D-Temperaturprofilen unter dem Einsatz eines Mikrothermoelements konnte festgestellt werden, dass ein AlPi-Anteil von lediglich 2,5 Gew.-% bereits einen signifikanten Einfluss auf die Flammentemperatur hat. Im Vergleich zu den flammhemmerfreien Experimenten reduziert sich hier die Temperatur der Flamme um bis zu 155 K. Aufgrund der massenspektrometrischen Untersuchungen und der Aufnahme von ortsaufgelösten, eindimensionalen Speziesprofilen konnten entlang der Flammenachse diverse phosphorhaltige Spezies nachgewiesen werden, was eventuell die erwähnte Absenkung der Flammentemperatur erklären könnte. Dem AlPi kann somit in Verbindung mit Polyethylen eine mögliche Gasphasenaktivität zugeschrieben werden. In dieser Arbeit werden verschiedene Aspekte der Flammhemmung beleuchtet. Zunächst wird eine Methode vorgestellt, die es erlaubt den Transport des Flammhemmers aus dem Polymer in die Gasphase zu untersuchen. Das ist wichtig, um nachvollziehen zu können, wie schnell ein Flammschutzmittel im Brandfall das zu schützende Material verlässt. In der Praxis könnten aus diesen Erkenntnissen Zeitparameter abgeleitet werden, über die sich abschätzen ließen, wie lange das jeweilige Polymer in Gefahrensituationen einem Flammschutz unterliegen würde. Auch Alterungsprozesse, die mit einer Verflüchtigung des Flammhemmers einhergehen (sog. Ausbluten), können mitberücksichtigt werden und es lässt sich abschätzen, über welchen Zeitraum ein Polymer effektiv flammgeschützt ist. Die Methoden zur Gasphasenuntersuchung von Flammhemmern in dieser Arbeit sind wegweisend, um feststellen zu können, welche Substanzen in der Gasphase für den inhibierenden Effekt verantwortlich sind. Nur über ein solches Verständnis lassen sich gezielt Flammhemmer für individuelle Einsatzbereiche designen, was letztendlich den bestmöglichen Brandschutz und ein hohes Maß an Sicherheit bei der Verwendung von Polymeren garantiert., The use of aliphatic polymers such as polyethylene or polypropylene is very popular, despite their high flammability in almost all areas. Their omnipresence, despite their fire hazard, is due to the use of flame-retardants, which in the past were mainly based on toxic and environmentally harmful halogen compounds based on chlorine or bromine. Nowadays, more environmentally friendly alternatives based on metals or elements like phosphorus are increasingly being used for flame retardancy. Such additives show promising flame-retardant effects, although their modes of action are not yet fully understood to a large extent. Flame retardants usually act by preventing the self-sustaining and heat-releasing chain reactions, which are essential to combustion processes. It is often unclear if the flame inhibition is based on a gas-phase mechanism or whether the actual effect of suppressing occurs already in the condensed phase of the polymer. In this work, an insight into the mode of action of such metal- and phosphorus-based "green" flame retardant alternatives is provided. First, the additive embedded in the polymer must reach the burning surface in order to either vaporize into the gaseous phase or to protect the material by chemical reactions in the condensed phase. These transport processes represent an important step in the overall understanding of flame retardancy. In this work, isothermal thermogravimetry (TGA) method is used to investigate both activity and diffusion coefficients in binary mixtures where the vapor pressure is mainly dominated by the additive. The combination of the different processes, evaporation and mass diffusion in a mixture leads to a transient mass loss, which depends on the activity coefficients and the diffusion coefficients in the gas and condensed phase, respectively. The novel method presented here allows to determine simultaneously both the activity coefficients and the binary diffusion coefficients of the condensed phase as a function of temperature if the gas phase diffusion coefficient is already known. In practice, however, many different polymer/flame retardant systems exist. Therefore, in this work, the concept for determining the physical evaporation and transport parameters is explicitly tested for the model system ferrocene/n-tetracosane. The metallocene is intended to represent a flame retardant and the long-chained alkane is used as a simplified substituent for a polymer. For the temperature range studied, between 343 and 398 K, the activity coefficient for ferrocene is above 3 for 343 K, decreasing to a value close to 1 with increasing temperature. The diffusion coefficient, instead, shows a weak temperature dependence, with values of approximately 2 × 10-9 m2∙ s-1. In addition, the vapor or sublimation pressures of the two neat substances were re-evaluated for this temperature range. In general, this relatively simple method for determining physical parameters such as activity and diffusion coefficients has proven to be useful for this system and shows potential to be applied in the future for determining the transport properties of other polymer/flame retardant systems. To gain insight into the mode of action of flame retardants in polymers, the pyrolysis behavior in this work was specifically investigated for the system consisting of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) and aluminum diethyl phosphinate (AlPi) using molecular beam mass spectrometry (MBMS) under isothermal conditions. Changing the model system from n-tetracosane to a "real" polymer was necessary here to realize realistic conditions for a flame retardant in use. The relatively complicated polymer pyrolysis-mechanisms play a key role in the mode of action of flame retardants. Metal phosphinates such as AlPi represent a promising new type of flame retardant whose mode of action in both the gas and condensed phase is still very poorly understood. The pyrolysis experiments were performed systematically by first investigating the respective neat substances separately before experiments of the mixtures with different amounts of additive were conducted. The main objective of this study was to detect phosphorus-containing species in the gas phase. These experiments show that apparently the main decomposition product of AlPi is given by diethylphosphinic acid, which can be subsequently degraded to lighter species or form dimers with twice the molar mass. In the mixture, the decomposition of AlPi is affected by the presence of the polymer in the condensed phase, but most of the species that have the potential to be responsible for flame retardant activities are still present in the gas phase. In an additional step, besides the isothermally conducted experiments, the thermal decomposition of the flame retardant was investigated under an imposed heating rate. The latter was intended to provide a closer connection to the pyrolysis preceding each polymer combustion in real fire scenarios. For this purpose, the flash pyrolysis of AlPi was investigated by means of the differential mass spectrometric thermal analysis (DMSTA) method. In addition, TGA experiments were performed at moderate heating rates. Gas phase development of AlPi at lower heating rates (TGA) occurs through a combination of evaporation and thermal decomposition, whereas in flash pyrolysis the flame retardant is primarily decomposed as a result of a higher pyrolysis starting temperature of T > 500 °C. Gaseous phosphorus-containing products are released during this process, such as diethylphosphinic acid. In addition to pyrolysis, the combustion of polyethylene in candle-like diffusion flames as a function of additive content was also investigated. First, the determination of the limiting oxygen index (LOI) reveals that from an additive quantity of ≥ 10 wt.-%, the polymer can no longer be ignited under ambient conditions. Smaller amounts allow the formation of a self-sustaining flame despite the presence of a flame retardant. By means of thermometry and the recording of spatially resolved 1D temperature profiles using a micro thermocouple, it was found that an AlPi content of only 2.5 wt.-% already has a significant influence on the flame temperature. Compared to the flame retardant-free experiments, the temperature of the flame is reduced by up to 155 K. Based on the additional mass spectrometric investigation and the recording of one-dimensional species profiles with spatial resolution, various phosphorus-containing species were detected along the flame axis. These results could possibly explain the aforementioned reduction in the flame temperature and thus AlPi can be attributed a possible gas phase activity in conjunction with polyethylene. In this work, various aspects of flame retardancy are highlighted. First, a method is presented that allows investigations with respect to the transport of the flame-retardant additive from the condensed phase of the polymer into the gas phase. It is important to understand how fast a retardant leaves the protected material during a fire. In practice, these findings could be helpful to derive time parameters to estimate the duration in that the polymer would be subjected to flame retardancy in hazardous situations. Aging processes associated with volatilization of the flame retardant (so-called bleeding) can also be taken into account, and it is possible to estimate the time period over which a polymer is effectively protected. The presented methods for the gas-phase investigations of flame retardants in this work are groundbreaking in identifying which substances in the gas phase are responsible for the inhibiting effect. Only through such an understanding can flame retardants be specifically for individual applications, guaranteeing the best possible fire protection and a high level of safety in the use of polymers.

In the Tunisian desert ants of the species Cataglyphis fortis exhibit remarkable navigational abilities. They are able to home even under extreme conditions and rough terrain without the use of external guidance. This makes them ideal candidates for model organisms when developing biomimetic navigation strategies for mobile robots. This approach tackles challenges routinely faced in autonomous mobile robot navigation. The system is robust to external influences, computationally cheap, self-contained and independent of external infrastructure. The broader goal is the development of a generic biomimetic system capable of autonomous locomotion. In particular this thesis addresses the element of detecting the substrate inclination which is crucial information in earth-bound navigation in three-dimensional space. This information will be used in an odometer to determine the ground projection of the travelled distance and thus allow reliable path integration in conjunction with compass information. Based on existing research like behavioural experiments on the desert ants the hypothesis is developed that measuring forces on the legs during movement is the determining factor to gain sufficient information about the substrate inclination. In the course of this thesis it is narrowed down to the measuring of only joint torques to reach that goal. The thesis follows the biomimetic engineering process. The model organism is analysed with respect to morphology, location and distribution of force sensors campaniform sensilla with a scanning electron microscope. The findings are validated via synchrotron X-ray microtomography analysis. The essential leg movement is extracted from digitized high speed videos. The data is used to establish an automated system to translate the motion to joint angles under varying constrictions that can be chosen based on the design of the desired technical application. A one legged prototype is constructed to evaluate the permissible level of abstraction and the suitability of force sensors versus torque sensors. The results are subsequently transferred to a generic commercially available mid range hexapod platform. Manual analysis of joint torque proves the general feasibility of correlating the joint torque measurements with the substrate inclination. To eliminate designing expert systems for each eventuality encountered in an exploratory mission artificial neural networks are employed. Simulated data is used to optimize the topology of a shallow feedforward network sufficient for this task. Loading and unloading processes as well as slanted paths are covered in this approach. Validation is performed on experimental data. The final conclusion of the thesis affirms the initial hypothesis. It is possible to implement a system on a generic mobile robot platform that allows detection of the substrate inclination based solely on idiothetic cues, i.e. joint torques. The proposed system works without installation of additional sensors and is computationally economical through the use of artificial neural networks. Determining the inclination is possible with a temporal resolution of once per step and as such suited for real time capable systems. The presented method has implications on biological research as well as the development of generic biomimetic systems. New hypotheses about the desert ants can be generated and experiments designed with the use of the robotic platform. Furthermore the proposed method ties in seamlessly with existing research of two-dimensional navigation systems or as a redundant system to amend alternative navigation methods., Im Gegensatz zu heimischen Ameisenarten, welche zum Großteil bei der Futtersuche auf die bekannten Ameisenstraßen setzen, sind Vertreter der Art Cataglyphis fortis zu großen individuellen Navigationsleistungen gezwungen. In ihrem Lebensraum in der tunesischen Salzwüste ist die Orientierung mittels volatiler Pheromone gar nicht und die visueller Landmarken nur eingeschränkt möglich. Dennoch sind sie in der Lage, ihr Nest auch nach ausgedehnter Futtersuche in Entfernungen von bis zu mehreren zehntausend Körperlängen zuverlässig wiederzufinden. Diese herausragende Navigationsleistung, welche unter schwierigsten Bedingungen mit beschränkten neuronalen Fähigkeiten durchgeführt wird, macht sie zu einem geeigneten Vorbild für die Odometrie in Laufrobotern. Der bionische Ansatz adressiert gängige Herausforderungen in autonomer Navigation von Laufrobotern. Das vorgeschlagene System ist robust gegenüber äußeren Einflüssen, sparsam im Rechenaufwand, in sich geschlossen und unabhängig von externer Infrastruktur. Das übergeordnete Ziel ist die Entwicklung eines generischen bionischen Systems, welches zu autonomer Lokomotion fähig ist. Im Speziellen befasst sich die vorliegende Arbeit mit dem Element der Bestimmung des Untergrundneigungswinkels, welcher ein entscheidender Baustein für die landgebundene Navigation im dreidimensionalen Raum ist. Mit dieser Information kann die Projektion des gelaufenen Weges auf eine zweidimensionale Ebene errechnet werden. In Kombination mit der Information über die Richtung kann so ein Odometer entwickelt werden, das eine zuverlässige Pfadintegration ermöglicht. Basierend auf der bestehenden Forschung zu Verhaltensexperimenten bei den Wüstenameisen wird die Hypothese entwickelt und getestet, dass die Messung der Beinkräfte während der Bewegung der entscheidende Faktor ist, um ausreichend Information über den Untergrundneigungswinkel zu erhalten. Im Verlauf der Arbeit wird diese These zugespitzt auf die Messung der Drehmomente in den Gelenken, um das beschriebene Ziel zu erreichen. Die vorliegende Arbeit folgt dem Prozess des bionischen Arbeitens. Der gewählte Modellorganismus wird analysiert hinsichtlich seiner Morphologie, insbesondere der Lage und Verteilung der Kraftsensoren Campaniforme Sensillen mittels eines Rasterelektronenmikroskops. Die Ergebnisse werden durch Röntgenmikrotomographie mit Synchrotronstrahlung validiert. Die wesentliche Beinbewegung wird aus Hochgeschwindigkeitsvideos extrahiert. Die digitalisierte Bewegung wird verwendet, um ein automatisiertes System zu schaffen, welches die Bewegung in Gelenkwinkel übersetzt. Die Randbedingungen, welche sich durch das Design der technischen Anwendung ergeben, werden direkt berücksichtigt. Ein einbeiniger Prototyp wird konstruiert, um den zulässigen Grad an Abstraktion zu ermitteln und die Eignung von Drehmomentsensoren im Vergleich zu Kraftsensoren zu ermitteln. Die Ergebnisse werden in der Folge auf eine generische, handelsübliche Hexapodplattform der Mittelklasse übertragen. Die manuelle Auswertung der Drehmomente in allen Gelenken zeigt die grundlegende Möglichkeit der Verknüpfung von gemessenen Gelenk-Drehmomenten mit dem Untergrundneigungswinkel. Künstliche neuronale Netze werden eingesetzt, um die Notwendigkeit der Entwicklung immer neuer Expertensysteme für jede Eventualität, die in einer Forschungsmission auftreten kann, zu umgehen. Mit Hilfe von Datensätzen, die in einer Simulationsumgebung erzeugt werden, wird die optimale Topologie eines flachen feedforward Netzwerkes bestimmt. Be- und Entladeprozesse, sowie ungerade Pfade können so ohne zusätzlichen Aufwand abgefangen werden. Die Validierung erfolgt mittels experimentell ermittelter Datensätze. Das abschließende Ergebnis bestätigt die eingangs formulierte Hypothese. Es ist möglich ein System zu entwickeln, welches den Untergrundneigungswinkels rein auf Grundlage idiothetischer Informationen bestimmt. Dieses System wird auf einem generischen Laufroboter in der Bewegung implementiert und benötigt nur Informationen über die Drehmomente der Gelenke. Das vorgestellte System ist ohne die Installation weiterer Sensoren funktionsfähig und durch den Einsatz künstlicher neuronaler Netze ressourcenschonend im Rechenaufwand. Die Bestimmung des Untergrundneigungswinkels kann mit einer zeitlichen Auflösung von mindestens einmal pro Schritt erfolgen und somit ist das System prinzipiell echtzeitfähig. Die vorgestellte Methode hat Auswirkungen auf biologische Forschung sowie auch auf die Entwicklung eines generischen bionischen Systems. Neue Hypothesen über die Verhaltensweisen von Wüstenameisen können auf Basis der Plattform generiert und neue Versuchsdesigns erprobt werden. Darüber hinaus komplementiert das vorgeschlagene System die bestehende Forschung zweidimensionaler Navigationssysteme und kann zudem als redundantes System alternativer Navigationsansätze ohne hohen Aufwand implementiert werden.

Vehicles offer people many conveniences, but at the same time cause considerable problems, for example for the environment. Today, the electrification of the automobile is considered the best way to solve at least a large part of the environmental problems caused by motor vehicles. Apart from the fact that an electric powertrain produces no local emissions, it also differs from a conventional fossil-fuel powertrain in its propulsion dynamics. It is therefore also to be expected that electric vehicles will influence the flow of traffic due to their different dynamic properties. This thesis focuses on using microscopic traffic simulation to provide a first estimation of how the electrification of vehicles could change the traffic flow and to what extent different traffic situations would influence the fuel and energy consumption of vehicles. In most microscopic traffic flow models, drivers and vehicles are modeled together by a combined model in one simulation object. By adjusting some parameter values, different combinations of driver and vehicle can be roughly distinguished. The values are determined on the basis of observational data of the traffic flow. However, the currently still small share of electric vehicles in road traffic and the fact that they look little different from combustion engine driven and hybrid vehicles make it difficult to collect data from electric vehicles in traffic flow, unless the data is collected in fleet tests. In this thesis, drivers and vehicles were modeled separately. The focus of this thesis is on the assessment of the influence of vehicle propulsion on traffic flow. Therefore, the model developed in this thesis was based on the physical capabilities of both the fossil-fuel powered and the electric powered vehicles. The driver model, which was also required, was created on the basis of data of human drivers, which were determined in an accompanying investigation of a driving simulator. Driver and vehicle model were combined again in the microscopic traffic simulation to a car-following model. For observing the impact of electric vehicles on traffic flow and estimating energy consumption of vehicles, a traffic scenario of a part of the City of Duisburg was established. The effect of electric vehicles on traffic flow, as well as the effect of traffic density on fuel and energy consumption was studied based on this scenario. The simulation results indicate that electric vehicles could raise the average speed of traffic flow to a certain degree, when traffic load and driving styles of the drivers remain the same. The increase of the share of electric vehicles has a positive effect on traffic efficiency. In situations with higher traffic density, energy consumption of electric vehicles is far superior to that of vehicles with internal combustion engine powertrains. Durch die hohe Geometriefreiheit und die Möglichkeit, etablierte Prozessketten zur Bauteilentwicklung deutlich zu beschleunigen, gewinnt die Additive Fertigung zusehends an Bedeutung. Um den nächsten Schritt in Richtung Industrialisierung dieser Technologie voran zu treiben, ist es notwendig, die Reproduzierbarkeit der Bauteilqualität zu erhöhen und die Kosten zu reduzieren. Ein Fortschritt hinsichtlich dieser Kriterien soll über Untersuchungen bezüglich der Lagerbedingungen des genutzten Metallpulvers und des Einflusses des Prozessgases auf die Bauteilqualität erzielt werden. In der kompletten Prozesskette spielen Industriegase eine bislang eher unterschätzte, aber wichtige Rolle. Von der Pulververdüsung über den Bauprozess bis hin zur Analytik kommen Gase zum Einsatz. Aus der Schweißtechnik ist bekannt, dass geringste Veränderungen in der Atmosphärenzusammensetzung bereits Einfluss auf die Bauteilqualität haben können. Reintitan kann neben Stickstoff und Wasserstoff auch nennenswerte Mengen an Sauerstoff interstitiell lösen, was zu einer Spannungserhöhung im Gitter und damit zu einer Versprödung (Verlust an elastischer Verformbarkeit) führen kann. Bei reinem Aluminium ist die Lösbarkeit von Stickstoff und Sauerstoff geringer. Wasserstoff bildet hier die bekannte Ausnahme. Sauerstoff bildet mit diesem Metall verschiedene Oxide, was jedoch nicht grundsätzlich zu einer Versprödung des Wirtsgitters führt. Aluminiumoxide haben in der Regel erheblich höhere Schmelztemperaturen als das Ausgangsmetall, wodurch ein vollständiges thermisches Aufschmelzen oft schwierig ist. Weiterhin hat z.B. das Al2O3 eine höhere Dichte als reines Aluminium und sinkt daher im Schmelzbad tendenziell nach unten. Ein vollständiger Stoffschluss wird hierüber erschwert. Bei dem hier untersuchten additiven Verfahren, dem pulverbettbasierten Laser-Strahlschmelzen, wird eine Baukammer mit Stickstoff oder Argon gespült, bis eine definierte Restsauerstoffkonzentration von 1000 ppm erreicht ist. Um diese exakt zu kontrollieren, werden vorwiegend Lambdasonden eingesetzt, deren Messwerte jedoch häufig durch prozessbedingte Nebenprodukte, wie beispielsweise Wasserstoff, verfälscht werden. Für eine exaktere Analyse und Regelung der Gasatmosphäre während des Laser-Strahlschmelzens wurde ein externes Analysegerät, basierend auf einer chemischen Messzelle, verwendet. Um den Einfluss der Restsauerstoffkonzentration im pulverbettbasierten Laser-Strahlschmelzen zu untersuchen, wurden Ti-6Al-4V und Scalmalloy® bei unterschiedlichen Restsauerstoffkonzentrationen (0 ppm–1000 ppm) aufgebaut und auf ihre chemischen sowie mechanischen Eigenschaften untersucht. Es konnte gezeigt werden, dass es mit steigender Restsauerstoffkonzentration in der Baukammer sowohl bei der Aluminium- als auch bei der Titanlegierung zu einer Versprödung des Materials kommt. Verglichen mit Benchmark-Versuchen, bei welchen die Atmosphäre von der Strahlschmelz-Anlage kontrolliert wurde, konnten sowohl die mechanischen als auch die chemischen Eigenschaften besser reproduziert werden. Dies ermöglicht eine konstantere Bauteilqualität zu fertigen. Die Pulverlagerung ist ein wichtiger Bestandteil der additiven Prozesskette. Da es zumeist in feuchtigkeits- und temperaturregulierten Umgebungen gelagert wird, können erhöhte Kosten entstehen. Deshalb wurde in einem weiteren Schritt die Auswirkung von Luftfeuchtigkeit bei der Lagerung von Ti-6Al-4V-Pulver untersucht. Dazu wurde Ti-6Al-4V-Pulver für 294 Tage in unterschiedlicher relativer Luftfeuchte gelagert und alle drei Wochen untersucht. Zudem wurden jeweils Proben für mechanische und chemische Analysen aufgebaut. Es konnte gezeigt werden, dass sich die Luftfeuchtigkeit bei Lagerung des Pulvers nur geringfügig auf Zugfestigkeit, Härte und chemische Zusammensetzung der damit gefertigten Bauteile auswirkt. Die Ermüdungseigenschaften verschlechtern sich dagegen mit steigender Lagerungsdauer des Pulvers. Durch heißisostatisches Pressen konnte dieser Effekt jedoch merklich reduziert werden. Der reversible Einfluss der Lagerbedingungen auf die Bauteilqualität kann zu einer Kostensenkung in der Prozesskette führen., Due to the high geometrical freedom and the possibility of significantly accelerate fixed process chains for component development, additive manufacturing is becoming increasingly important. In order to advance the next step towards the industrialization of the technology, it is necessary to increase the reproducibility of component quality and reduce production costs. Progress with regard to these criteria is to be achieved through investigations into the storage conditions of the powder and the influence of the process gas. In the entire process chain, industrial gases play an underestimated role, but are still important. Gases are used from powder atomisation through the building process to analysis. It is known from welding technology that even the slightest changes in the atmospheric composition can have an influence on the quality of the components. In addition to nitrogen and hydrogen, pure titanium can also interstitially dissolve significant amounts of oxygen, which can lead to an increase in stress in the lattice and thus to embrittlement (loss of elastic deformability). With pure aluminium the solubility of nitrogen and oxygen is lower. Hydrogen is the well-known exception here. Oxygen forms different oxides with this metal; however, this does not generally lead to embrittlement of the host lattice. Aluminium oxides generally have significantly higher melting temperatures than the base metal. Complete thermal melting is therefore often difficult. Furthermore, Al2O3, for example, has a higher density than pure aluminium and therefore tends to sink downwards in the melt pool. Therefore, a complete adhesive bond is more difficult. In the additive process investigated here, laser powder bed fusion, a build chamber is flushed with nitrogen or argon until a defined residual oxygen concentration of 1000 ppm is reached. In order to control this precisely, lambda sensors are mainly used. Though their measured values are often falsified by process-related by-products, such as hydrogen. In order to achieve a more precise analysis and control of the gas atmosphere during laser powder bed fusion, an external analysis device based on a chemical sensor was used. In order to investigate the influence of the residual oxygen concentration in laser powder bed fusion, Ti-6Al-4V and Scalmalloy® were processed at different residual oxygen concentrations (0 ppm–1000 ppm) and examined regarding their chemical and mechanical properties. It could be shown that the higher the residual oxygen concentration in the build chamber, the more brittle the materials become for both the aluminium and titanium alloys. Compared to benchmark tests, in which the atmosphere was controlled by the laser powder bed fusion machine, reproducibility could be improved for both the mechanical and the chemical properties. This allows to produce a more consistent part quality. Powder storage is an important part of the additive process chain, as the powder is usually stored in humidity and temperature-controlled environments, resulting in increased costs. Therefore, in a further step the effect of humidity during storage of Ti-6Al-4V powder was investigated. For this purpose, Ti-6Al-4V powder was stored for 294 days in different relative humidity and examined every three weeks. In addition, samples for mechanical and chemical analyses were built in each case. It could be shown that the relative humidity during storage of the powder slightly affects the tensile strength, hardness and chemical composition of the components manufactured with it. In contrast, the fatigue properties deteriorate with increasing storage time of the powder. However, this effect could be noticeably reduced by hot isostatic pressing. The reversible influence of storage conditions on component quality can lead to cost reductions in the process chain.

Phosphorus has a detrimental effect on the quality of steel as it reduces its ductility and toughness. In order to ensure a good quality of the final product, the requirements for steel regarding the phosphorus content are very strict. Recently, it has been reported that the levels of phosphorus in iron ores are increasing due to a gradual shortage of low phosphorus iron ores. Thus, the phosphorus content of the hot metal charged into the BOF (Basic Oxygen Furnace) process will be increasing, which will sharpen the challenges associated with meeting the end phosphorus requirements. Steelmakers are therefore exploring the possibilities for refining high phosphorus iron ore and aim at developing solutions that ensure controlling the final phosphorus contents within the target range under those new circumstances. A detailed study of the thermodynamics of dephosphorization reaction at conditions relevant for the BOF process is necessary in order to point out the potential as well as the limitations of phosphorus removal for different starting conditions and blowing strategies. This is important for deriving the appropriate process solution, for example, in deciding whether a single or a double slag treatment is required, or for the development of innovative process technologies and new control methods. Even though the quaternary system CaO-FeOx-SiO2-P2O5 is the fundamental oxide system for low and high phosphorus refining processes, its thermochemical behavior remains unclear. Instead, it is common practice to reduce this system to its ternary sub-systems CaO-FeOx-SiO2 and CaO-FeOx-P2O5 when studying the thermochemical behavior of low and high phosphorus systems. However, the phase diagrams available in the literature do not always cover the total temperature range of the industrial process. In addition, the effect of the oxidation state of FeOx and that of minor oxides such as MgO or MnO on the phase boundaries of those ternary systems remains unclear. By means of carrying out extensive evaluations of the oxide systems relevant for both low and high phosphorus refining processes, this thesis aims at providing a deep understanding of the state of industrial slags in the composition, temperature, and p(O2) ranges relevant for the entire process. In addition, an assessment of the dephosphorization potential of industrial slags under those conditions is provided. The extent of phosphorus removal from the metal phase is controlled by the dephosphorization potential of the slag phase, which is generally believed to be a strong function of the composition and temperature of the relevant oxide system. A computational thermodynamics approach is used for the thermodynamic evaluations carried out in the present work, which involves coupling the newly developed thermodynamic database BOFdePhos to the software package FactSage TM. The non-ideal associate solution model is used for the description of the Gibbs energy of the liquid phase and the Compound Energy Formalism (CEF) for the description of the Gibbs energy of the solid solution phases while the solid stoichiometric compounds are treated with simple temperature-dependent Gibbs energy functions. This approach has been selected due to the fact that modeling approaches developed according to the CALPHAD (CALculation of PHAse Diagrams) method have a good capability for extrapolating from assessed binary and ternary sub-systems to higher-order systems. Thus, it is possible to generate new phase diagrams using experimental data from lower-order systems. The thermodynamic evaluation of the oxide system CaO-FeOx-SiO2-P2O5 and its ternary subsystems were carried out for the total composition, temperature, and p(O2) ranges relevant for the process. The results were used for the assessment of the state of industrial slags by means of the analysis of plant trial measurements. The assessments indicate that industrial slags are heterogeneous throughout the major part of the process and, in most cases, saturated with the solid C2S_C3P (2CaO.SiO2_3CaO.P2O5) phase. However, most phosphorus distribution approaches (Lp-approaches) reported in the literature were developed for purely liquid slags. Thus, a new Lp-approach has been developed in the present work, which considers the effect of the amount, type, and composition of the different slag phases. The type and amount of phases formed during the process are found to be highly sensitive to the composition, temperature, and oxidation state of FeOx. The risk involved with simplifying the oxide system to its main components, as well as with the non-consideration of the effect of p(O2) is underlined in this work. This work demonstrates how new methods and strategies for enhancing dephosphorization control can be developed based on a combination of thermodynamic, experimental, and industrial evaluations. Those methods include an implementation concept for the thermodynamic database into dynamic models, the specification of a new target slag region for achieving optimal dephosphorization results, as well as the development of a new BOF method for ensuring a flexible, yet accurate, control of the slag composition towards the target region. In dieser Arbeit wird die historische Entwicklung der Dimensionierung von Elektroreduktionsöfen (SAF) unterschiedlicher Typen bis zum heutigen Stand zusammenfassend beschrieben und schwerpunktmäßig die elektrische Leitfähigkeit typischer Schlacken der Ferronickel(FeNi)-Produktion untersucht, um eine breitere Basis für die elektrische und in Folge auch mechanische Dimensionierung von FeNi-Produktionsanlagen zu legen. In der Vergangenheit gab es, gemessen am Gesamtfeld der Schlackenmetallurgie, nur wenige Betrachtungen zu Schlacken der Ferrolegierungsproduktion und insbesondere der modernen FeNi-Gewinnung. Mit dieser Arbeit wird zum Zwecke eines besseren Verständnisses des Energieeintrags für den elektrothermisch-metallurgischen Prozess in Hochleistungs-SAF eine Lücke geschlossen. Zur Gewinnung belastbarer Daten der elektrischen Leitfähigkeit einer großen Bandbreite typischer FeNi-Schlacken (FeO-MgO-SiO2) wurden mittels Vierelektrodenmessprinzip Leitfähigkeitsmessungen an 20 repräsentativen Schlackenqualitäten in einem Tammannofen durchgeführt und für einen Temperaturbereich von 1.350 °C bis 1.675 °C vergleichend ausgewertet. Die Ergebnisse werden in Ternärdiagrammen mittels Interpolation dargestellt, sodass für nahezu alle Schlackenzusammensetzungen und alle untersuchten Schlackentemperaturen Werte für die spezifische elektrische Leitfähigkeit abgelesen werden können. Die Bandbreite der gemessenen Leitfähigkeiten liegt bei 0-4 S/cm; eine Abhängigkeit der elektrischen Leitfähigkeit von der Schlackentemperatur konnte bestätigt werden. Desweiteren wurden die Einflüsse verschiedener Anteile von Cr2O3 in FeNi-Schlacken auf die Leitfähigkeit und exemplarisch die Einflüsse unterschiedlicher Schlackentemperauren und Schlackenleitfähigkeiten auf die Regelungsgüte eines SAF untersucht. In der Summe bietet diese Arbeit eine wesentliche, neue Grundlage für die Dimensionierung der aufgrund des weltweit wachsenden Bedarfs an Nickel immer größeren und leistungsstärkeren FeNi-Reduktionsöfen., In this thesis, the historical development of the dimensioning of submerged arc furnaces (SAF) of different types until present state is summarized and, predominantly, the electrical conductivity of typical slags of the ferronickel (FeNi) production is examined in order to lay a broader basis for the electrical and also for the mechanical design of FeNi-plants. In the past there were, compared to the total field of slag metallurgy, only few examinations of slags of the ferro-alloy production and in particular of modern FeNi plants. This thesis fills a gap for a better understanding of the energy input for the electrothermic-metallurgical process in high-performance SAF. In order to obtain reliable data on the electrical conductivity of a wide range of typical FeNi-slags (FeO-MgO-SiO2), conductivity measurements on 20 representative slag qualities were carried out using a four-electrode measurement principle in a Tammann furnace and were evaluated for a temperature range from 1.350 °C to 1.675 °C. The results are presented in ternary diagrams by means of interpolation, so that values for the specific electrical conductivity can be read for almost all slag compositions and all examined slag temperatures. The range of the measured conductivity is 0-4 S/cm; a dependence of the electrical conductivity on the slag temperature could be confirmed. Furthermore, the influences of various contents of Cr2O3 in FeNi-slags on the conductivity and, by way of example, the influences of different slag temperatures and slag conductivities on the quality of energy control of an SAF were examined. All in all, this work provides a significant new basis for dimensioning the ever-increasing and more powerful FeNi-SAF due to the growing demand for nickel worldwide.

Die in dieser Arbeit durchgefuehrten Untersuchungen lassen sich in drei Teilbereiche unterteilen: 1. Reaktionen zwischen fluessigem Silicium und Graphit sowie Glaskohlenstoff (Sigradur G); 2. Reaktionen zwischen fluessigem Silicium und CO-haltigen Gasatmosphaeren; und 3. Reaktionen zwischen fluessigem Silicium und Siliciumnitrid. Bei den Fest/Fluessig-Reaktionen wurden Schichtdicken gemessen und die Strukturen der entsprechenden Reaktionsschichten untersucht. Die Untersuchungen zu den Gas/Fluessig-Reaktionen hatten zum Ziel, die einzelnen ablaufenden Reaktionen moeglichst exakt nachweisen zu koennen., Three types of reactions were investigated: 1. Reactions between liquid silicon and graphite and solid sigradur G. 2. Reactions between liquid silicon and CO_2-containing gas atmospheres; 3. Reactions between liquid silicon and silicon nitride. In the solid/liquid reactions, thicknesses and structures of the reaction films were investigated. In the gas/liquid reactions, particular interest was taken in an accurate description of the reaction course.

Dieser vorliegende Artikel soll einen Überblick über die e-Commerce Strategien international agierender Maschinen- und Anlagenbauer geben. Durch den enormen Erfolg des e-Commerce im B2C Bereich versuchen viele Unternehmen aus dem B2B Bereich diese Erfolge nachzubilden. Die Branche des Maschinen- und Anlagenbau hat große Erwartungen an die Digitalisierung. Mit der Umsetzung dieser im B2B e-Commerce ergeben sich immer noch große Potenziale. Im Rahmen dieses Artikels sollen e-Commerce Strategien internationaler Maschinen- und Anlagenbau analysiert werden und Unternehmen ein Ausblick über zu beachtende Faktoren bei der Auswahl der eigenen Lösung gegeben werden. Die Unternehmen wurden teilweise aus der Literatur und teilweise durch Verzeichnisse des Verbands deutscher Maschinen und Anlagenbauer (VDMA) ausgewählt und anhand ihrer Lösungen verglichen. Due to the enormous success of e-commerce in the B2C sec-tor, many companies in the B2B sector are trying to emulate this success. The mechanical and plant engineering industry has great expectations of digitalization, but still has great potential with the implementation of this in B2B e-commerce. In the context of this article, e-commerce strategies of international mechanical and plant engineering firms will be analysed and companies will be given an outlook on factors to be considered when choosing their own solution. The companies were selected partly from literature and partly from directories of the German Engineering Federation of plant engineering (VDMA) and compared based on their solutions. The criteria for the analysis were mostly the state of the art in B2B e-commerce.

Motion planning for legged robots is a challenging problem and remains an open area of research. Particular difficulties arise from effective underactuation, the mechanism complexity, as well as nonlinear and hybrid dynamics. A common approach is to decompose this problem into smaller sub-problems that are solved sequentially. Recent research indicates that using a local optimal control solver, namely Differential Dynamic Programming (DDP), produces more efficient motions, with lower forces and impacts. This master’s thesis contributes in this direction by applying, evaluating and extending DDP-based whole-body trajectory optimization, pursuing three objectives. First, we develop a method for constraining DDP-like solvers in order to generate inherently balanced motion plans. Second, the proposed motion planning approach is evaluated for quasi-static and dynamic motions in a real-time physics simulation and in real-world experiments on the lightweight and biologically inspired RH5 humanoid robot. Finally, the limits of the approach and the system design are examined by solving highly-dynamic movements., Die Bewegungsplanung für Laufroboter ist eine anspruchsvolle Aufgabe und bleibt ein aktives Forschungsgebiet. Besondere Schwierigkeiten ergeben sich aus der effektiven Unteraktuierung, der Komplexität der Mechanismen sowie der nichtlinearen und hybriden Dynamik. Ein verbreiteter Ansatz besteht darin, das Problem in kleinere Teilprobleme zu zerlegen, die nacheinander gelöst werden. Neue Forschungsergebnisse zeigen, dass Algorithmen aus dem Bereich der optimalen Regelung, insbesondere der Differenziellen Dynamischen Programmierung (DDP), effizientere Bewegungen mit geringeren Kräften und Stößen erzeugen. Diese Masterarbeit leistet einen Beitrag in diese Richtung, indem eine DDPbasierte Ganzkörper-Trajektorienoptimierung angewendet, bewertet und erweitert wird, wobei drei Ziele verfolgt werden. Erstens entwickeln wir eine Methode zur Beschränkung von DDP-artigen Algorithmen, um stabile Bewegungspläne zu erzeugen. Zweitens wird der vorgeschlagene Ansatz zur Bewegungsplanung für quasistatische und dynamische Bewegungen in einer physikalischen Echtzeitsimulation und in realen Experimenten mit dem leichten und biologisch inspirierten humanoiden Roboter RH5 evaluiert. Schließlich werden die Grenzen des Ansatzes und des Systemdesigns anhand hochdynamischer Bewegungen untersucht.

Seilbasierte Parallelkinematiken weisen große Vorteile in den Bereichen Dynamik und Energieeffizienz auf. Dessen ungeachtet ist diese Art Manipulator im industriellen Bereich noch weitestgehend unbekannt. Mit der vorliegenden Arbeit wird die Realisierung und der Betrieb von zwei Applikationsbeispielen für kinematisch zweifach redundante parallele Seilroboter unter Verwendung von standardisierter Industrietechnik präsentiert sowie diskutiert. Beide Systeme sind auf Endeffektorlasten bis zu 100 kg ausgelegt und heben sich dadurch im Bereich der Nutzlast von vorangegangenen Arbeiten ab. Der Bewegungssimulator im Windkanal der Technischen Universität Hamburg- Harburg setzt mit der Aktuierung von Schiffsmodellen eine Aufgabe um, die auf die spezifischen Anforderungen des Lehrstuhls für Fluiddynamik und Schiffstheorie hin ausgelegt und mit standardisierter serieller Manipulatortechnik nicht realisierbar ist. Die Umsetzung als Regalbediengerät für Hochregallager im Rahmen des Effizienzclusters Logistik Ruhr stellt ein System dar, welches als Produkt für das breite Spektrum der Logistikbranche angeboten werden kann. Das Verbundprojekt „Regalbediengerät auf Basis der Stewart-Gough-Plattform“ verfolgt das Ziel, durch die Vorteile seilbasierter parallelkinematischer Roboter (leichte Struktur, hohe Geschwindigkeit, hohe Beschleunigung) ein effektiveres und effizienteres Regalbediengerät zu entwickeln. Mit der methodischen Herangehensweise nach dem V-Modell gemäß VDIRichtlinie 2206 werden für beide Systeme kinematische und dynamische Modelle sowie Regelungskonzepte entwickelt und simulativ in Bezug auf die gewünschten Eigenschaften bewertet. Mehrere Verfahren zur Lösung der minimalen Seilkraftverteilung von parallelen Seilrobotern werden auf ihre Einsetzbarkeit in Echtzeitregelsystemen hin untersucht. Im weiteren Verlauf erfolgt eine Validierung der Ergebnisse anhand von Messdaten aus Versuchsfahrten der Prototypen. Im Kontext des Bewegungssimulators werden dabei speziell die Themenfelder Regelung und Arbeitsraum untersucht. In Bezug auf das System CABLAR erfolgt ein Vergleich der Effektivität (Geschwindigkeit und Beschleunigung) und der energetischen Effizienz zu einem konventionellen Regalbediengerät., Wire based parallel kinematic robots show great advantages in terms of dynamics and energy efficiency. Nevertheless, this kind of manipulator is relatively unknown to the industrial sector. This thesis presents and discusses the realization and the operation of two application examples of kinematic twofold redundant parallel wire robots using standardized industrial technology. Both systems are designed for end effector loads of up to 100 kg and therefore differ from previous works in terms of the payload. The motion simulator in the wind tunnel of the Technical University of Hamburg- Harburg is designed for the actuation of ship models and thus to meet specific requirements of the Department of Fluid Dynamics and Ship Theory which are not achievable by the use of standardized serial manipulator technology. The realization as a storage and retrieval machine for high bay warehouses within the framework of the Efficiency Cluster Logistics Ruhr represents a system, that can be offered as a product for the wide range of applications of the logistics industry. The collaborative project „Storage and retrieval machine on the basis of a Steward-Gough-Platform“ aims to develop a more effective and efficient stacker crane using the advantages (light structure, high velocity, high acceleration) of wire based parallel kinematic robots. With the methodical approach pursuant to the V-model according to the VDI guideline 2206, kinematic and dynamic models as well as control concepts are developed for both systems and evaluated simulatively with regard to predifined properties. Several methods for solving the minimum wire force distribution of parallel cable robots are being analyzed with respect to their applicability in real-time control systems. Finally, the results are validated on the basis of measured data from prototype test runs. In the context of the motion simulator, the topics of control and workspace are examined in particular. With respect to the CABLAR system, the effectiveness (velocity and acceleration) and the energy efficiency are compared to a conventional storage and retrieval system.

Die angestrebten Klimaziele der Europäischen Union erfordern eine Abkehr von den bestehenden, etablierten konventionellen Antrieben hin zu Antrieben auf Grundlage emissionsärmerer Kraftstoffe. Eine vielversprechende Alternative stellt der Einsatz von Erdgas dar. In verflüssigter Form (LNG – Liquefied Natural Gas) besitzt es neben den bekannten Vorteilen hinsichtlich der emittierten Abgase eine ausreichend hohe Energiedichte, um auch im Fernverkehr oder für den Betrieb von mobilen Maschinen Verwendung zu finden. Der Einsatz solcher mobilen Maschinen mit dem Kraftstoff Erdgas wurde im Zuge des Forschungsprojektes LeanDeR untersucht. Dazu wurden sowohl Messungen zur Fahrzeugnutzung als auch zum Emissionsausstoß erhoben. Es wurde ein LNG-betriebener Terminaltraktor einer vergleichbaren dieselbetriebenen Variante gegenübergestellt. Ebenso wurde ein Fahrzeug des Typs Reachstacker auf einen Diesel/LNG-Dual-Fuel-Betrieb umgerüstet und der Betrieb des Fahrzeugs sowohl im reinen Diesel- als auch im Dual-Fuel-Betrieb untersucht. Im Zuge dieses Umweltberichtes werden die Ergebnisse der Emissionsmessung präsentiert und diskutiert. The use of natural gas is a promising alternative. In liquefied form (LNG – Liquefied Natural Gas) it has, in addition to the known advantages in terms of emitted exhaust gases, a sufficiently high energy density for use in long-distance transport or for the operation of mobile machines. The use of such mobile machines with natural gas was being investigated in the course of the research project LeanDeR. For this purpose, both measurements for vehicle use and emissions were collected. A LNG-powered terminal tractor was compared to a comparable diesel operated variant. Likewise, a Reachstacker vehicle was being converted to diesel/LNG-dual-fuel operation and the operation of the vehicle was being investigated in both operation modes. Thermodynamische und kinetische Untersuchungen der Adsorption von Hg(0) sind in der Literatur aufgrund der schwierigen experimentellen Randbedingungen sehr fragmentarisch. Häufig wurden nur einzelne Aspekte der Physisorption und Chemisorption von Hg(0) betrachtet, was vielfach zu einer Fehlinterpretation der Adsorptionsmechanismen führte. Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit war es, den komplexen Adsorptionsprozess von Hg(0) an kommerziellen Aktivkohlen systematisch experimentell zu untersuchen, auf der molekularen Ebene mechanistisch besser zu verstehen und quantitativ zu beschreiben. Zur Untersuchung der Quecksilberadsorption und –desorption wurde eine Versuchsanlage entwickelt, mit der Experimente mit einer sehr hohen Reproduzierbarkeit möglich sind. Durchbruchskurvenexperimente an charakteristischen Beispielen für Aktivkohlen zeigen, dass bei der Adsorption von Hg(0) sowohl physisorptive als auch chemisorptive Mechanismen eine Rolle spielen. Die Physisorption von Hg(0) an Aktivkohlen wurde im Konzentrationsbereich von 50 bis 1000 µg m^-3 und Temperaturen von 25 bis 100 °C untersucht. Aus den Messungen wurden Adsorptionsisothermen sowie isostere Adsorptionsenthalpien berechnet, die Informationen zur Art und Stärke der Wechselwirkungen sowie zu energetischen Homogenität der Plätze bei der Adsorption liefern. Neben der thermodynamischen wurde eine kinetische Auswertung mit mathematischen Simulationen auf Basis eines Stofftransportmodells durchgeführt. Sehr langsame Reaktionen an der Oberfläche verhindern die Bestimmung von chemisorptiven Gleichgewichtsdaten und dementsprechend die Berechnung von Adsorptionsisothermen. Der Einfluss von Sauerstoff und Chlor auf die Chemisorption von Hg(0) wurde anhand von Durchbruchskurvenmessungen und TPD-Experimenten gezeigt. Die experimentellen Ergebnisse wurden mit Hilfe eines erweiterten Transportmodells simuliert. Im Anschluss an die mechanistische Aufklärung wurde eine anwendungstechnische Frage untersucht. In technischen Prozessen werden Festbettadsorber mit imprägnierter Aktivkohle zur chemisorptiven Quecksilberabscheidung eingesetzt. Häufig kommt es bei Prozessen mit diskontinuierlichen Abluftströmen mit stark wechselnden Quecksilberkonzentrationen zum Durchbruch des Quecksilbers am Ende der imprägnierten Aktivkohleschicht aufgrund der langsamen Kinetik der chemisorptiven Adsorption. Dynamische Simulationen in dieser Arbeit haben gezeigt, dass ein Mehrschichtadsorber mit einer ersten Schicht aus unbehandelter Aktivkohle zur Glättung der Quecksilberkonzentration und einer zweiten Schicht aus imprägnierter Aktivkohle zur vollständigen Abtrennung des Quecksilbers ein aussichtsreiches technisches Konzept für diese Problematik darstellt. Entwicklung alternativer Entschwefelungsmittel und eines Zugabeverfahrens in der Gießereiindustrie zur nachhaltigen Substitution von Magnesium Diese Arbeit behandelt die Entwicklung eines alternativen Entschwefelungsmittels für den Einsatz in der Gießereiindustrie, sowie die Ermittlung eines dafür geeigneten Einbringungs- verfahrens, unter Berücksichtigung einer maximalen Behandlungszeit von 10 Minuten und einer zu behandelnden Schmelzmasse von 2-10 Tonnen. Diese Entwicklung ist von Interesse, da der Markt des bisher zu Entschwefelung eingesetzten Magnesiums sehr volatil ist und die Abhängigkeit von China, ein potenzielles Problem für die Versorgungssicherheit darstellt. Die Entschwefelung von Eisen mit den unterschiedlichsten Entschwefelungsmitteln und Einbringungsverfahren stellt, gerade im Bereich der Stahlerzeugung, ein sehr gut erforschtes Gebiet dar. Das in der Gießereiindustrie eingesetzte Kupolofeneisen hebt sich von dem in der Stahlindustrie eingesetzten Roheisen besonders durch den hohen Siliziumgehalt ab, welcher die Entschwefelungswirkung vieler Entschwefelungsmittel stark eingeschränkt. Dies macht es schwer, die zur Erzeugung von GJS und GJV geforderten Endschwefelgehalte von 150ppm respektive 200ppm, mit den bereits bekannten Magnesiumalternativen einzuhalten. Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit, wurden Labor- Technikums- und Industrieversuche geplant, durchgeführt und ausgewertet. Die erfolgversprechendsten ermittelten Entschwefelungsmit- tel konnten in einem Industrieversuch erfolgreich getestet werden., Sustainable Substitution of Magnesium in Foundries by Developing an Alternative Desulphurization Process In this thesis the developement of an alternative desulfurization agent for foundary use, as well as different insertion methods for said agent are discussed, considering a maximum treatment time of 10 minutes and a ladle mass of 2 - 10 tons. This research is of deeper interest, due to the market being very volatile, due to the resulting dependency on China. In steelmaking the desulfurization of iron with different agents and delivery methods is well developed. Especially due to its higher silicon content the cupola iron used in foundries differs from pig iron used in steelmaking, which limits the desulfurization capability of commonly used magnesium replacements and makes it difficult to reach the specified sulfur content of 150ppm respectively 200ppm needed for the production of SGI and CGI. During this thesis, experiments in three different stages: laboratory, prototype and industrial, were planed, performed and evaluated. The most promising of the developed agents were successfully tested in industrial scale.

Die individuelle Mobilität steht vor großen Herausforderungen. Sie muss zukünftig energieeffizienter sowie klima- und umweltverträglicher gestaltet werden. Hier stellen elektrisch angetriebene Fahrzeuge eine mögliche Alternative zu verbrennungsmotorischen Fahrzeugen dar. Um am Markt wettbewerbsfähig zu sein, müssen Elektrofahrzeuge jedoch hinsichtlich Kosten, Reichweite sowie Emissionen, die sich bei Berücksichtigung der gesamten Wertschöpfungskette ergeben, gegen konventionelle Antriebe bestehen. Zur Beurteilung der Alltagstauglichkeit gewinnen die Herstellerangaben zu Verbräuchen und Reichweiten beim Fahrzeugkauf deutlich an Relevanz. Die Bestimmung dieser Angaben erfolgt in der Regel mit standardisierten Fahrzyklen auf Rollenprüfständen. Bei diesen Zyklen handelt es sich um Geschwindigkeit-Zeit-Verläufe, die häufig in der Kritik stehen, nicht charakteristisch für die reale Fahrzeugnutzung zu sein. Mit der Einführung der Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) wurde bereits ein großer Schritt in Richtung realitätsnähere Verbrauchsangaben gemacht. Diese Testprozedur regelt zwar explizit auch die Reichweiten- und Energiebedarfsbestimmung elektrifizierter Fahrzeuge, wurde aber ausschließlich auf der Basis von Fahrdaten verbrennungsmotorischer Fahrzeuge entwickelt. Elektrofahrzeuge verfügen aber über ein anderes Beschleunigungsverhalten, haben nur geringe Geräuschemissionen und bieten die Möglichkeit Bremsenergie zurückzugewinnen. Daraus resultiert ein abweichendes Fahr- und Nutzungsverhalten, was ebenfalls in den Testprozeduren Berücksichtigung finden müsste. Auch der Betrieb von Nebenaggregaten besitzt einen starken Einfluss auf die tatsächliche Reichweite eines Elektrofahrzeugs, wird jedoch in den Prüfvorschriften in der Regel nicht einbezogen. Bis heute gibt es keine offiziellen Testzyklen und im Vergleich zu konventionellen Fahrzeugen nur wenige speziell für Elektrofahrzeuge entwickelte Fahrzyklen. An dieser Stelle setzt die vorliegende Arbeit an. Es wird eine methodische Vorgehensweise zur Erstellung von repräsentativen Fahrzyklen für batterieelektrische Fahrzeuge entwickelt und angewendet. Auf Basis realer Fahrdaten von 175 über einem Zeitraum von zwei Jahren vermessenen Elektrofahrzeugen werden Fahrzyklen für verschiedene charakteristische Tagesfahrweiten entwickelt. Dabei wird die Datenbasis entsprechend der Fahrumgebung (Stadt, Land, Autobahn) sowie anhand von fahrstil- und verkehrsflussbeschreibenden Parametern in homogene Cluster untergliedert. Es werden jeweils zugehörige repräsentative Subzyklen erstellt, die zusammengesetzt einen Gesamtfahrzyklus ergeben. Das Ergebnis einer Zyklusgenerierung basierend auf der gesamten, nicht gruppierten Datenbasis wäre ein harmonisiertes Geschwindigkeitsprofil. Es wäre nicht charakteristisch für das tatsächliche Fahrverhalten beispielsweise in den verschiedenen Fahrumgebungen. Durch den Einsatz einer auf stochastischen Ansätzen basierenden Methode wird im Vergleich zu anderen Methoden zur Fahrzykluskonstruktion außerdem eine zufälligere und breitere Abdeckung der Fahrcharakteristika sowie die Verwendung des größtmöglichen Datenbasisanteils sichergestellt. Der Vorteil besteht darin, dass kürzere Sensorausfälle nicht zwingend zum Ausschluss des gesamten Datensatzes einer Fahrt führen, sondern valide Segmente weiterhin für die Datenanalyse und Zyklusentwicklung genutzt werden können. Darüber hinaus stellt die zusätzliche Generierung von Batterielastzyklen einen weiteren Schwerpunkt der Arbeit dar. Charakteristische Lastzyklen sind für die Auslegung der elektrischen Komponenten des Antriebsstrangs von Elektrofahrzeugen von Bedeutung. Sie bieten außerdem die Möglichkeit reale Belastungen simulativ oder im Batterielabor zu untersuchen. Auf Basis gemessener Batteriestromprofile wird ein auf physikalischen Zusammenhängen beruhendes Fahrzeuglängsdynamikmodell aufgebaut, parametriert und validiert. Mithilfe dieses Modells ist die Generierung von Lastprofilen auf Basis der entwickelten Fahrzyklen möglich. Darüber hinaus werden aus den realen Daten explizit auch Lastzyklen für den Betrieb von Nebenaggregaten abgeleitet., Individual mobility is facing major challenges. To achieve this, electrically driven vehicles are a possible alternative to vehicles powered by internal combustion engines. In order to be competitive on the market, electric vehicles must be able to measure up to conventional vehicles in terms of costs, range and well-to-wheel emissions. To assess the suitability for everyday use, the manufacturer's data on consumption and range are becoming increasingly relevant when purchasing a new vehicle. The determination of this information is usually carried out with standardized driving cycles on chassis dynamometers. These cycles are speed-profiles over time that are often criticized for not being characteristic of real-world vehicle use. With the introduction of the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP), a major step has already been taken towards more realistic consumption data. Although this test procedure explicitly regulates the range and energy requirement determination of electrified vehicles, it was developed exclusively on the basis of driving data from internal combustion engine vehicles. However, electric vehicles have a different acceleration behavior as well as low noise emissions. Additionally, they offer the possibility of recovering braking energy. This results in a different driving and usage behavior, which should also be taken into account in the test procedures. Beyond that, the operation of auxiliary units has a strong influence on the actual range of an electric vehicle, but is usually not included in the test regulations. To date, there are no official test cycles and, compared to conventional vehicles, only a few driving cycles specifically developed for electric vehicles. For this reason, a methodical procedure for the construction of representative driving cycles for battery electric vehicles is developed and applied within this thesis. Based on real-world driving data from 175 electric vehicles measured over a period of two years, driving cycles for different characteristic daily mileages are developed. The database is divided into homogeneous clusters according to the driving environment (urban, rural, motorway) and on the basis of parameters describing the driving style and traffic flow. Corresponding representative subcycles are created, which togehter result in an overall driving cycle. The result of a cycle construction based on the entire non-grouped database would be a harmonized velocity profile. For example, it would not be characteristic of the actual driving behavior in the different environments. Furthermore, the use of a method based on stochastic approaches ensures a more random and wider coverage of the driving characteristics and the use of the largest possible database share compared to other methods for driving cycle construction. The advantage is that shorter sensor failures do not necessarily lead to the exclusion of the entire data set of a trip. The valid segments can still be used for data analysis and cycle development. Furthermore, the additional development of battery load cycles is another main focus of this thesis. Characteristic load cycles are important for the design of the electrical components of the powertrain of electric vehicles. They also offer the possibility to analyze realistic loads simulatively or in battery laboratories. Based on measured battery current profiles, a vehicle longitudinal dynamics model based on physical relationships is built, parameterized and validated. With the help of this model, it is possible to generate load profiles based on the developed driving cycles. Lastly, load cycles for the operation of auxiliary units are derived from the real-world data.

Advancements in science and technology has led to development of complex, safetycritical, and capital-intensive systems and processes. To ensure optimal and safe operations of these technical systems and processes requires the development of quality monitoring and supervision approaches. Data obtained during monitoring and supervision can be evaluated for state-of-health diagnosis. The selection of an evaluation approach for an application may require performance assessment. In this thesis a new evaluation approach based on the Probability of Detection (POD) reliability measure is developed. The POD is a probabilistic method to quantify the reliability of a procedure taking into account statistical variability of sensor and measurements properties. The a90/95-criteria representing probability of 90 % detection at a confidence level of 95 % is examined to the measurements and related outcomes. The generalizable capability of the developed approach is demonstrated in multidisciplinary fields: vibration-based Structural Health Monitoring (SHM), Machine Learning (ML), and Computer Vision (CV) classification approaches. Structural Health Monitoring systems are based on suitable sensor techniques allowing online and offline supervision of technical systems. The quantification of sensors/measurement devices is a key issue for qualifying their effectiveness and efficiency. For vibration-based supervision approaches the POD approach can not be applied similarly. This results mainly from the complexity of the dynamical behavior of systems monitored in relation to faults, sensors position (observability), and the related feature extraction or monitoring task. In this research, POD evaluation of vibration-based fault detection of elastic mechanical structures to be monitored is developed. Beside a principal discussion of the problem serving as introduction, an example using different sensor types in combination with mechanical modifications of an elastic beam is presented. Based on the analysis of a suitably chosen feature and dependent on the mechanical modes considered, the efficiency and deficiency of the different combinations are shown. Based on the proposed approach, a new insight to the usefulness of different sensor types and fault position combination becomes possible. To improve the detection quality, suitable assumptions in combination with sensor/information fusion are applied to feature-based analysis as detection task using vibration measurements. Dependent on noise analysis, a trade-off between flaw size detection and probability of falsely characterizing a fault with a90/95 reliability level can be attained. Machine learning approaches provide the ability to automatically learn and improve from experiences. These ML approaches are functional tools that allow classification abilities. In this sense also the machine learning-based recognition of complex driving situations for automated vehicles as well as for human drivers is of increasing interest. In this field based on technical sensors a complex scenario and related dynamical changes have to be interpreted and classified. Evaluation of these classifiers plays a crucial role in their selection for a specific task. In this thesis a new approach is established permitting a new evaluation measure to ML approaches used as classifiers. Current methods utilize measures like the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) providing visually and graphically the performance of classifiers. Beside the ratio of detection rate and false alarm rate (combined as ROC), other properties related to process parameters are not integrated in the evaluation process. In this research, a new evaluation method based on the Probability of detection (POD) reliability measure is developed integrating and discussing the effect of further process parameters on the classification results. As an example for illustration the comparison of classifiers applied to driver prediction behavior is used. The temporal distance of decisions moments to the instant of decision itself is used as process parameter for the classification process. The proposed approach is used to compare the suitability of Artificial Neural Networks, Hidden Markov Models, Random Forest, Support Vector Machines, and improved versions of these classifiers with respect to the reliability of related classification of upcoming events prior to the real ones, here: human decisions based on the visual impression of changes within the environment. Consequently, based on the POD-related evaluation the different classifiers can be clearly distinguished with respect to their ability to predict the correct behavior as a function of time prior to the event itself. In Computer Vision systems, image classification and detection is an important task. Deep Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) is a suitable classifier for large-scale image classification. It is well-known that image classification performance strongly depends on problem characteristics and vary with process parameters. This work focuses on explicit and accurate evaluation of CNN classifiers in image detection. The POD approach is implemented allowing the evaluation of further image parameters affecting the classification results and subsequently the comparison of classifiers related to the same parameter depending on classification task. Die Meerwasserentsalzung mit Umkehrosmoseanlagen gilt heutzutage als wichtigstes Verfahren zur Süßwasserproduktion. Für einen effizienten Betrieb der Anlagen ist eine an das Meerwasser angepasste Vorbehandlung notwendig. Ein zentraler Schritt der Vorbehandlung ist die Prävention von Biofouling durch die Desinfektion mit Chlor. Wegen der hohen Oxidationsstärke muss das residuale Chlor nach abgeschlossener Desinfektion zum Schutz der Membran reduziert werden. Hierfür erfolgt die Zugabe von Schwefel(IV) (Hydrogensulfit, Sulfit). Da die messtechnische Kontrolle einer vollständigen Chlorreduktion aktuell nur unter hohem Aufwand und mit großer Unsicherheit möglich ist, wird das Reduktionsmittel überdosiert. Vor diesem Hintergrund wurde in der vorliegenden Arbeit ein Messverfahren zur in-situ Konzentrationsbestimmung von Schwefel(IV) in Meerwasser entwickelt. Mit dem Messverfahren ist es möglich, die Vollständigkeit der Chlorreduktion nachzuweisen und somit den Chemikalieneinsatz des Reduktionsmittels zu reduzieren. Das Messverfahren basiert auf der UV-Spektroskopie als Messtechnik und der Partial Least Squares Regression als Auswerteverfahren. Im ersten Schritt der Entwicklung wurde das Absorptionsverhalten der Schwefel(IV)-Spezies und aller typischen Meerwasserinhaltsstoffe aufgeklärt. Auf Basis der gesammelten Erkenntnisse wurde ein künstliches Meerwasser definiert, welches als Referenz für die Entwicklung der Messtechnik genutzt wurde. Nachfolgend wurde ein thermodynamisches Gleichgewichtsmodell experimentell validiert. Mit diesem ist es möglich, das Dissoziationsgleichgewicht der Schwefel(IV)-Spezies auf Basis vorgegebener Stoffmengen vorherzusagen. Die so ermittelten Referenzkonzentrationen wurden dann zur Bildung der Regressionsmodelle verwendet. Die Entwicklung der Auswertemethode erfolgte in drei Systemen: Reinstwasser, künstliches Meerwasser und „Vorbehandeltes Meerwasser“. Letzteres beschreibt das künstliche Meerwasser nach Eliminierung ausgewählter störender Komponenten. Es zeigt sich, dass sowohl in Reinstwasser als auch im System „Vorbehandeltes Meerwasser“ eine Erfassung beider Schwefel(IV)-Spezies möglich ist, während im künstlichen Meerwasser nur eine Detektion von Sulfit erreicht wird. Für einen Einsatz des Messverfahrens in der Meerwasserentsalzung ergibt sich hieraus die Notwendigkeit einer Vorbehandlung des Messstroms. Zur Vorbehandlung wurden zwei Strategien untersucht und diskutiert. Hierbei zeigt sich, dass eine Anpassung des pH-Wertes in Kombination mit dem Regressionsmodell „Künstliches Meerwasser“ ein hohes Potential zur Optimierung des Chemikalieneinsatzes aufweist, wohin-gegen eine Abscheidung von Störkomponenten nicht zielführend ist. Accurate in-situ measurements and suitable signal processing are important for reliable monitoring and control of modern industrial equipment. However, measuring relevant variables may be difficult due to physical and technological limitations. Acoustic Emission (AE), which refers to passively recorded mechanical stress waves using highly sensitive equipment, is frequently suggested to obtain in-situ measurements. For instance, AE can be detected due to the release of elastic energy in a material under load due to damage. Sources of AE are manifold and different source mechanisms can be distinguished using suitable signal processing. Furthermore, advantages such as high sensitivity to incipient damages, detectability of damages in a distance from the source, and characterization and localization of source mechanisms, are inherent to the measurement principle. Hence, AE can be identified as promising in-situ measurement technology. The two main research areas (i) Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) and (ii) process monitoring and control are considered in this thesis. From a methodological point of view, both fields are related in that similar methods are used for analysis and interpretation of AE. Several research questions, which address key topics in AE-based monitoring, are established. In particular, suitable sensor mounting is crucial for successful detection of AE. However, some mounting techniques, which were successfully used in the laboratory, may be difficult to realize in practice. Therefore, the question raises if there are alternative mounting strategies, which are suitable to simplify the application of AE. Regarding the use of machine learning for analysis of AE it remains as an open question, how the reliability of an individual classification result depends on environmental and operational factors. Furthermore, characterizing the effect of variable operational and environmental conditions on AE signatures is a difficult topic. Regarding the use of AE for process monitoring and control, it can be stated as an open question, how AE can be processed effectively to characterize the productivity or quality of a process. Furthermore, the choice of a suitable hardware platform to implement AE-based monitoring and to realize control actions online is an important element of AE-based process control. Accordingly, new results of AE for SHM and for process monitoring and control are presented in this thesis. However, the development of a complete AE-based SHM system is not within the scope. For data-acquisition and fast signal processing, a novel hardware architecture is suggested as low cost solution for AE measurements and control. Regarding the use of AE for SHM, the focus is placed on the use of data-driven approaches. The related applications include composite material and spur gears. The reliability of AE classification schemes is discussed at the example of damage classification in composites. Finally, the influence of external factors (i.e. load) and limitations due to signal attenuation are discussed. Furthermore, new results regarding the use of AE in process monitoring and control are presented. It is shown that AE can be used to characterize the lubrication condition during thread forming. As proof of concept, the online use of AE in process control is demonstrated at the example of nanoparticle synthesis using laser ablation., Für die zuverlässige Überwachung und Steuerung moderner Industrieanlagen sind päzise in-situ Messtechnik und geeignete Signalverarbeitung von besonderer Bedeutung. Dabei kann die Erfassung relevanter Größen aufgrund physikalischer und technologischer Einschränkungen schwierig zu realisieren sein. Zur Durchführung von in-situ Messungen wird häufig Acoustic Emission (AE) vorgeschlagen. Dies bezeichnet elastische Wellen, die mit hochempfindlichem Equipment passiv gemessen werden können. Beispielsweise kann AE infolge der Freisetzung elastischer Energie in einem belasteten Prüfkörper aufgrund von Materialversagen gemessen werden. Im Allgemeinen sind AE-Quellen vielfältig und verschiedene Quellenmechanismen können durch geeignete Signalverarbeitung unterschieden werden. Darüber hinaus weist das Messprinzip verschiedene Vorteile wie eine hohe Empfindlichkeit zur frühzeitigen Detektion beginnender Schäden, die Erkennbarkeit von Schäden in einiger Entfernung von der Quelle sowie die Möglichkeit zur Charakterisierung und Lokalisierung von Quellenmechanismen mittels geeigneter Signalverarbeitung auf. Daher lässt sich AE als vielversprechende in-situ Messtechnik identifizieren. In dieser Arbeit werden die beiden Hauptforschungsbereiche (i) Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) und (ii) Prozessüberwachung behandelt. Aus methodischer Sicht sind beide Bereiche insofern verwandt, als dass zur Analyse und Interpretation von AE ähnliche Methoden angewendet werden. Es werden verschiedene Forschungsfragen entwickelt, die sich mit Schlüsselthemen der AE-basierten Überwachung befassen. Konkret ist insbesondere eine geeignete Sensormontage bei der Durchführung von AE Messungen entscheidend. Jedoch sind einige Ansätze, die erfolgreich im Labor getestet wurden, in der Praxis möglicherweise schwierig zu realisieren. Daher stellt sich die Frage, ob es alternative Ansätze zur Sensormontage gibt, die geeignet sind, um die Durchführung von AE Messungen zu erleichtern. Bezüglich der Verwendung von maschinellen Lernverfahren zur Analyse von AE bleibt die Abhängigkeit der Zuverlässigkeit eines individuellen Klassifikationsergebnisses von Umgebungs- und Betriebsfaktoren offen. Darüber hinaus ist es schwierig, den Einfluss variabler Umgebungs- und Betriebsbedingungen auf AE-Signaturen zu charakterisieren. Bezüglich der Verwendung von AE zur Prozessüberwachung und -regelung kann als offene Frage angegeben werden, wie AE effektiv verarbeitet werden kann, um die Produktivität oder Qualität eines Prozesses zu charakterisieren. Darüber hinaus ist die Wahl einer geeigneten Hardware Plattform zur Implementierung AE-basierter Überwachung und zur Online-Realisierung von Steuereingaben ein wichtiges Element AE-basierter Prozessregelung. Vor diesem Hintergrund werden in dieser Arbeit neue Ergebnisse hinsichtlich AE für SHM sowie zur Prozessüberwachung und -regelung vorgestellt. Dabei ist die Entwicklung eines vollständigen AE-basierten SHM-Systems nicht Bestandteil dieser Arbeit. Zur Messwerterfassung und zur schnellen Signalverarbeitung wird eine innovative Hardwarearchitektur als kostengünstige Lösung für AE-Messungen und zur Regelung vorgeschlagen. In Bezug auf die Verwendung von AE für SHM wird der Schwerpunkt auf die Verwendung datengetriebener Verfahren gelegt. Gegenstand der Untersuchungen sind Faserverbundwerkstoffe und Stirnradgetriebe. Die Zuverlässigkeit von Methoden zur Klassifikation von AE Signalen wird am Beispiel der Fehlerklassifikation in Verbundwerkstoffen erörtert. Abschließend werden der Einfluss externer Faktoren (z. B. Last) und Einschränkungen aufgrund der Signaldämpfung dargestellt und diskutiert. Darüber hinaus werden neue Ergebnisse zum Einsatz von AE zur Prozessüberwachung vorgestellt. Es kann gezeigt werden, dass AE geeignet ist um den Schmierzustand während des Einbringens eines Gewindes durch Gewindeformen zu charakterisieren. Als Proof of Concept wird der Online-Einsatz von AE in der Prozessüberwachung am Beispiel der Nanopartikelsynthese mittels Laserablation demonstriert.

A series of optical diagnostics was used in a light-duty optically accessible Diesel engine to investigate the in-cylinder thermofluidic conditions, the spray and combustion characteristics, and compression-ignition (CI) knock. Most of the experiments were performed with Spray B from the Engine Combustion Network’s (ECN) series of standardized injectors and experimental conditions. To determine the in-cylinder flow field, particle image velocimetry (PIV) was performed for both low-swirl and high-swirl conditions. From the resulting flow fields, the time evolutions of the turbulent kinetic energy and the swirl ratio were calculated. The in-cylinder temperature field at compression top-dead center was obtained from laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) of toluene evaporated into the intake charge. At low swirl, the ensemble-average temperature field was found to be almost uniform throughout the piston bowl. At high swirl, temperatures in the bowl are lower and radially inhomogeneous with a thicker boundary layer. The ECN Spray B (three jets, injector 211201) was investigated by “fire-deck retro-reflection” with illumination by a pulsed light-emitting diode (LED). The liquid and the gas phase of the fuel spray were captured simultaneously with high temporal resolution (about 50 000 frames/second) and identified in the images in post-processing. The effects of ambient temperature and density, injection pressure, swirl level, and hole-to-hole variation on liquid length, vapor penetration, spray dispersion angle, ignition delay, ignition location, flame luminosity, and heat release rate were investigated. The effects of swirl and hole-to-hole variation were found to be complex and are likely to be related to thermofluidic conditions and spray/flow interactions that are beyond the scope of this work. The quasi-steady liquid length and the ignition delay measured in this work were compared to data from the literature on Spray B in high-pressure vessels and engines. The effect of facilities (in the sense of chamber size and flow field) was found to be less significant than the effect of the different diagnostics used in the various investigations. To clarify the effect of diagnostics on the detection of ignition delay, multi-spectral high-speed imaging was performed. Chemiluminescence (CL) in the UV (from OH* and other species) and in the visible spectral range was recorded simultaneously by an intensified camera and a color camera, respectively. The area-averaged flame luminosity in the flame contours, obtained with by segmentation via dynamic thresholding, was compared with pressure-based metrics close to ignition. The results show that the OH*-CL and visible-CL signals roughly match but have different sensitivities to the low- and high-temperature reaction. The low-temperature reactions also make traditional heat-release analysis unreliable for detecting the ignition delay. The net pressure rise (the fired pressure minus the motored one) was a better metric. Finally, knocking combustion after compression ignition was investigated. High-speed image sequences of combustion luminosity were processed based on the concept of optical-flow. The resulting flow fields show a “sloshing” movement of the flame that is due to acoustic resonance. The corresponding oscillation frequencies were obtained from the velocity-vector time-series. They match those from pressure-trace analysis and theoretical calculations. Here, knock originated from auto-ignition of the end gas, resembling knock in spark-ignition engines. In the automotive industry a robust trend towards assisted and automated driving has evolved during the last years. Although the technology to accomplish this ambition has made great progress recently, there are still a lot of challenges left to make assisted and automated driving a safe and comfortable experience. One of the main algorithmical challenges is the aptitude of the technical system to acquire situation awareness. Especially the comprehension of the current traffic situation and the anticipation of all traffic participants' future behavior is an indispensable foundation for successful decision-making. In this thesis a prediction framework is developed that infers a driver's maneuver intention via a hybrid Bayesian network and predicts the future poses of any traffic participant by solving an optimal control problem. The parameters of the methods entailed in the framework are learned from data generated in simulation as well as data acquired from a prototype test vehicle. Different data labeling methods are being investigated to enable the use of supervised machine learning: While the parameters of the Bayesian network are learned using the junction tree algorithm with extensions for hybrid networks, which again is based on the expectation maximization algorithm, the parameters of the optimal control formulation are found via inverse reinforcement learning., In der Automobilindustrie hat sich seit einigen Jahren ein robuster Trend hin zu assistiertem und automatisiertem Fahren entwickelt. Zwar hat die Technologie zur Erreichung dieser Anstrengung deutliche Fortschritte gemacht, jedoch gilt es noch viele Herausforderungen zu meistern, um assistiertes und automatisiertes Fahren zu einem sicheren und komfortablen Erlebnis zu machen. Eine der größten algorithmischen Herausforderungen ist die Befähigung des technischen Systems Situationsbewusstsein zu entwickeln. Besonders das Verständnis der aktuellen Verkehrssituation und die Antizipation des zukünftigen Verhaltens aller Verkehrsteilnehmer ist eine unverzichtbare Voraussetzung für ein zielvolles Handeln. In dieser Arbeit wird eine Prädiktionsstruktur entwickelt, die die Manöverintention eines Fahrers mittels eines hybriden Bayesschen Netzes inferiert und die zukünftigen Posen eines Umgebungsfahrzeugs durch die Lösung eines Optimalsteuerungsproblems prädiziert. Die Parameter der in dem Prädiktionsgerüst verwendeten Methoden werden von Daten gelernt, welche sowohl über Simulationen synthetisch generiert, als auch aus Realfahrten in einem prototypischen Versuchsfahrzeug aufgezeichnet wurden. Verschiedene Labelingmethoden werden untersucht, um den Einsatz von Verfahren des überwachten maschinellen Lernens zu ermöglichen: Während das Lernen der Parameter des Bayesschen Netzes mittels des Junction Tree Algorithmus mit enthaltenen Erweiterungen für hybride Netze erfolgt, welcher wiederum auf dem Expectation Maximization Algorithmus basiert, werden die Parameter der Optimalsteuerungsformulierung über inverses bestärkendes Lernen gefunden.

Innerhalb dieser Arbeit wird ein Formalismus zur Erstellung von objektorientierten Modellen mechanischer Mehrkörpersysteme entwickelt, welche sich für die echtzeitfähige Simulation der Dynamik, einschließlich der Berechnung der Reaktionskräfte, von komplexen Kraftfahrzeugradaufhängungen eignen. Durch die Einbindung der Radaufhängungsmodelle in ein modulares Zweispurmodell ergibt sich ein Gesamtfahrzeugmodell, welches die Dynamik des Fahrzeugs genau beschreibt und eine Lösung in Echtzeit garantiert. Das Radaufhängungsmodell weist eine hohe Genauigkeit auf, da auch die Elastokinematik des Systems berücksichtigt wird. Diese schließt die Elastizität der Gummilagerungen und der Lenker ein. Auch die mechanischen Spannungen in den Bauteilen werden berechnet. Die harte Echtzeitfähigkeit wird durch die Verwendung der Methode der Kraftkopplung erreicht. Innerhalb der Methode werden kinematische Kopplungen (ideale Gelenke) durch elastische Gelenke ersetzt, welche als Bushings bezeichnet werden. Weiterhin werden anwendungsangepasste Tiefpassfilter und die BAUMGARTE-Stabilisierung eingesetzt, um die stabile Schrittweite des numerischen Integrators und die Genauigkeit zusätzlich zu erhöhen. Durch diese Techniken wird der Einsatz von iterativen Lösungsverfahren für algebraische Schleifen vermieden und einfache explizite numerische Integrationsverfahren mit fester Schrittweite können verwendet werden. Um kurze Berechnungszeiten und numerische Stabilität bei hoher Genauigkeit zu gewährleisten, werden die Simulationsparameter der Bushings, der Filter und der Stabilisierungsmethode anhand verschiedener Optimierungsverfahren unter Berücksichtigung des Anwendungsbereichs ermittelt. Zur Erprobung des entwickelten Formalismus werden komplexe Anwendungsbeispiele herangezogen. Die Simulationsergebnisse werden erfolgreich mit validierten Referenzmodellen und Messdaten der Doppelquerlenkerradaufhängung des Formula Student Rennwagens A40-02 der Universität Duisburg-Essen und der hinteren Mehrlenkerachse des PORSCHE 911 (Modell 991) verglichen. Es wird erfolgreich nachgewiesen, dass eine Simulation bis zu 30 Hz Erregerfrequenz mit einer Schrittweite von 1 ms numerisch stabil erreicht werden kann und auch harte Echtzeit vorliegt. Die Simulationsergebnisse zeigen je nach Modell eine sehr gute Genauigkeit bis 30 Hz mit einer relativen Abweichung der Kraft unter 6% und der Beschleunigung unter 4%. Um die harte Echtzeitfähigkeit zu unterstreichen, werden die Modelle der Radaufhängungen in ein modulares Zweispurmodell integriert und erfolgreich unter einem Echtzeitbetriebssystem simuliert.
