The article reports on the potential for the efforts by Asian liquid-crystal-display (LCD) manufacturers to increase domestic production and invest in new facilities to hamper the looming recovery in the flat-panel market. DisplaySearch senior vice president Paul Semenza cited the faster growth of supply than demand. It is said that reduced panel prices will possibly affect the profits of LCD manufacturers beginning early 2010. Japanese firm Sharp started production of LCD at its facility in Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture in Japan.
