Timberland prices in the U.S. have risen steadily since the mid-1990s and are overvalued. Timber prices too are vulnerable to a decline of as much as 50 percent in coming years which would sting timber focused companies that include Plum Creek Timber, Potlatch, and Weyerhaeuser as well as university endowments and institutional investors.
