In the article "The Felled Tree - Metaphor and Theology: The Dream of the Tree (Dan 4) in the Light of the Prophecy 'Shoot from the Stump of Jesse' (Isaiah 10:33-11:9)", Naama Golan examines the connection between the dream of the tree in Daniel and the prophecy of the "Shoot from the Stump of Jesse" in Isaiah. She describes three stages of development of the metaphor of the felled tree and the theological messages conveyed by the authors. The article shows that Nebuchadnezzar's dream about the tree in Daniel serves as an "internal biblical interpretation" for the prophecy about the "Shoot from the Stump of Jesse". Plato and Aristotle understood phenomena to be knowable to the extent that they participate in the reality of the unchangeable, and this attitude was appropriated by the church fathers as a way of exploring the world's dependence on its Creator. Luther's insistence on the world's sinfulness and on salvation as one-sidedly dependent on divine agency has been criticized as a rejection of this understanding of the inherent goodness of the world, thus paving the way for the secularized world view of modernity. Among these critics is Erich Przywara in his works up to and including his book Analogia Entis from 1932. However, in 1952 Przywara published an article where he found Luther's theology of exchange to be a close parallel to his own doctrine of analogia entis, the implication being that Luther is closer to a Catholic understanding of the world's relationship with God than mainstream post-Enlightenment Protestantism, and this article is an attempt to substantiate that claim. This article presents a comparative analysis of copper beads of the Cortaillod culture. The famous deposit from the site of Seeberg Burgäschisee-Süd remained isolated for a long time, and hence the hypothesis of its metrological structure seemed unbelievable to some archaeologists. This article begins with a reminder of this find and presents a new analysis based on Kendall's statistics. In addition, we present a breakthrough discovery of another deposit of beads. During excavations of the site of Colmar in Alsace, an Eneolithic grave was discovered; it produced copper beads of a type that is characteristic of the Cortaillod culture. The distribution of these objects in a grave finally removes doubts as to how beads were valued. The comparison of the deposits of Seeberg and Colmar, using both statistical and conventional methods, is at the core of this article; it allows us to gain a deeper insight into the problematic area of early mathematical and metrological concepts in prehistoric Europe. The beads lie at the interface between traditional, more archaic and less abstract methods of perceiving mathematical relations based on the concept of linear measure and the new approach brought about by the arrival of metal technology. The paper shows that Nietzsche's theory of tropes as patterns of association of mental representations, which permeate everyday thinking and speaking, is deeply rooted in the tradition of German semasiology (semantics). Nietzsche was able to recast in a coherent paradigm the various suggestions to be found in the work of linguists and philologists of his time. Furthermore, thanks to his wide-ranging and idiosyncratic readings, his work benefited from the most striking research results in the fields of experimental psychology, biology and physiology, the result being a most original and modern theory. That is why it may be interesting and fruitful to compare his philosophy of language and, specifically, his theory of tropes, with the recent results of Cognitive Linguistics. Der Aufsatz zeigt, dass Nietzsches Theorie der Tropen als Schemas der Begriffsassoziation, die das alltägliche Denken und Sprechen durchdringen, in der Tradition der deutschen Semasiologie (Semantik) begründet ist. Nietzsche konnte die verschiedenen Vorschläge, die er in den Werken der Linguisten und Philologen seiner Zeit fand, in ein kohärentes Paradigma fassen. Darüber hinaus profitierte seine Theorie dank seiner vielfältigen Lektüren von den neuesten Forschungsergebnissen in den Bereichen der experimentellen Psychologie, Biologie und Physiologie. Das Ergebnis ist eine sehr originelle und moderne Theorie von aktueller Relevanz, die auf interessante und fruchtbare Weise mit den jüngsten Ergebnissen der kognitiven Linguistik verglichen werden kann. This paper studies metaphor as a part of the linguistic code in a discipline's professional communicative spheres and, most important, metaphor as a knowledge-transferring mechanism where concepts from one discipline are transferred into the domain of another discipline. Donald Schön's so-called 'generative metaphor' is introduced and applied to the 'static' structure of disciplinary terminology by analyzing one characteristic example of metaphorical transfer of linguistic theory and terminology into the domain of the information sciences. The paper concludes with some ideas on a research project, taking explicitly the metaphorical stance towards the relations between different disciplines and terminologies.
