A literary criticism of the book "Murphy," by Samuel Beckett is presented. It outlines the historical sense of the combination of Irish migrant characters, close attention to economic questions, precise descriptions of medical settings, and sensitivity to biopolitical discourses in the novel which focuses on the connection between health and the economy. It also reflects the equivalence between sadistic night-time system, and enlightened, daylight system of biopolitically-motivated therapy.
