The homelessness problem affecting some areas in the UK still needs to be properly addressed. Property leasing and renting are but some of the suggestions to help alleviate the problem. Housing grants and other housing investment programs that offer cash incentives are also being considered by government. Although local authorities have shown willingness to experiment with different initiatives, the issue on homelessness will still remain a lingering social problem.

The problem of homelessness in England has perenially frustrated politicians' best intentions and efforts. Official statistics show that the problem has grown threefold from 1978 to 1990. Its resolution lies in the equally important need to raise income and provide enough employment to city dwellers. Meanwhile, the government should conduct a comprehensive study in support of renting or leasing programs as an interim measure.
