- Abstract
The article reports on the pottery industry in Chulucanas, Peru. The potters in the region use mango leaves for firing. Their pottery have distinctive designs created by the smoke from the mango leaves and the slurry painting. The clay used by the potters come from a village called La Encantada. The potters shape their clay in the traditional method using a stone and paddle. The male potters prefer their pots to be burnished while female potters like to decorate their pots with plastic bits.
