Premda je moderna dogmatska teologija ukazala na važnost mariologije za poimanje kršćanske vjere, ne možemo se oteti dojmu da je mariologija još uvijek bez velikoga značenja, ako ne i potpuno beznačajna za današnju teologiju i duhovnost. Usudili bismo se reći da se mariologija nalazi u svojevrsnomu teološkom egzilu. Stoga se ovim člankom kani povratiti mariologiju iz teološkoga egzila, vratiti je ponovno u teologiju. To se želi postići analizom marioloških promišljanja dvojice najvećih katoličkih teologa prošloga stoljeća: Hansa Ursa von Balthasara i Karla Rahnera. Analizirajući njihova razmatranja o Blaženoj Djevici Mariji, pokušat ćemo pokazati koliki se teološki potencijal krije u mariologiji. Unatoč određenim razlikama, i Balthasar i Rahner mišljenja su kako nam mariologija omogućuje razumijevanje kršćanstva te nam pruža jasniji uvid u temeljne dogme i pojedine vidove kršćanske vjere, kao što su kristologija i ekleziologija. Prikaz Balthasarove i Rahnerove mariologije također je najbolji dokaz da bez mariologije teologija i duhovnost olako gube svoje središte, odnosno često se događa sljedeće: zapostavljanje povijesno-spasenjske dimenzije vjere, relativiziranje božanstva Isusa Krista, zaborav ekleziologije ili pogrješno poimanje Crkve, racionalizam u teologiji i pastoralu i dr. Mariologija Hansa Ursa von Balthasara i Karla Rahnera također rasvjetljava i druge teološke teme, primjerice narav i ulogu žene u Crkvi i u društvu, značenje čovjekove slobode i njezina odnosa prema Bogu. Vidjet ćemo kako mariologija i za te teme može biti teološki plodno tlo. U završnom osvrtu pozabavit ćemo se ukratko stanjem mariologije u kontekstu današnje Crkve i teologije., Even though modern dogmatic theology points out the significance of Mariology for the understanding of Christian faith we cannot but wonder that the notion of Mariology still does not carry any great significance to present theology and spirituality although it is not totally meaningless. We might dare say that Mariology exists in some form of theological exile. This article therefore intends to bring Mariology out of its theological exile and reinstate it in theology. The article attempts to do so with an analysis of Mariological thought of two great Catholic theologians from the past century: Hans Urs von Balthasar and Karl Rahner. Analysing their thinking about the Blessed Virgin Mary, the article endeavours to show just how much theological potential lies in Mariology. Despite some differences both Balthasar and Rahner's thinking is that Mariology allows us to comprehend Christianity and offers us a clearer insight into some fundamental dogma about certain perspectives of Christian faith such as Christology and Ecclesiology. A presentation of Balthasar and Rahner's Mariology is the best proof that without Mariology, theology and spirituality easily lose their focus or often gives way to the following: neglect of the historical-salvational dimension of faith, relativity of the divinity of Jesus Christ; neglect of Ecclesiology and an incorrect comprehension of the Church; rationalisation of theology and pastorale and so on. Hans Urs von Balthasar and Karl Rahner's Mariology highlights other theological topics, e.g. the nature and role of women in the Church and society; the meaning of man's freedom and its relationship to God. The article shows us how Mariology can be theologically fruitful ground for these topics.
