Abstract

The article argues that the transgender regulation of the International Olympic Committee is inadequate to ensure fairness to competitors and access to competition for transgender athletes. Topics covered include the failure of the approach to protect cisgender female competitors from being at a competitive disadvantage, the deficiencies of the current rule for female transgender athletes, and two solutions to replacing the current that the IOC should consider.
