The article discusses a study on the effects of reduced tillage (RT) and conventional tillage, preceding crops and the use of phosphorus (P) fertilizer on arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) colonization, root biomass and root growth of flax at two farm sites in Manitoba. Among the preceding crops used in the study were a mycorrhizal crop, wheat and canola. Also stressed is the role played by climatic conditions in enhancing the effect of the preceding crop on AMF colonization and increased root biomass and lateral root growth of flax.
