The article discusses a research study on the new and non-destructive method of measuring the partial pressure of carbon dioxide (CO2) in bulk sea ice. The method is based on the equilibration procedure between a standard of gas called CO2 concentration and sea ice through the measurement by gas chromatography at 5% precision rate. Conclusions indicated that the method provides an opportunity for working at high resolution with smaller ice volumes and allows the documentation of small-scale pCO2 variations and gradients within sea-ice cover with the use of the sackhole technique.
