This article examines the potential of human rights education (HRE) for youth engagement in promoting human rights and children's rights for diversity and inclusion. The retrospective study of Speaking Rights , a programme implemented by a community-based organisation for over a decade across Canada, presents the outreach, outcome and approach of youth-led community action projects (CAP s). The accessible, practical, relational and reflective approach was generative. The iterative and multi-pronged work provided opportunities for broad outreach and awareness amongst a range of youth-serving organisations. We discuss the transformative prospects of the CAP s as illustrative of a broadening of children's rights and a renewal of HRE, along with the limitations of bringing the emancipatory nature of HRE to scale, and the need to allow for a critical stance throughout the HRE process that includes supporting disruptive spaces to meaningfully tackle injustices. This article discusses the approach of women to the promotion of indigenous children's rights in Venezuela. Women have brought the principles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) to the communities by grounding them in the children's cultures. Acknowledging children's different cultural needs also raises questions as some cultural traditions do not reflect the spirit of the CRC. The emphasis of CRC on a child's right to participate, for instance, challenges some cultural views and practices. When the outside world thinks about the state, they think of the paradise-like sandy beaches, or of its wealth since it has one of the largest reserves of oil and other non-renewable resources. The presence of indigenous people in this country is hardly known by the international community. The marginalization and discrimination against indigenous people in the state results in a fate similar to that of other indigenous people around the world. Policies of discrimination and assimilation have been part of the state's practices. It is impossible to pinpoint the exact events leading to the promotion of indigenous children's rights. Two developments appear to have contributed enormously to creating a receptive environment. These include the indigenous peoples' increased political positioning at the national level, and more particularly the creation of the indigenous women's associations.
