Introduction The COVID-19 pandemic posed a detrimental impact on the conduct of non-COVID-19 related clinical trials, raising concerns about the completeness of these studies and waste of resources. While several measures and strategies have been suggested to address these issues, a thorough and timely summarisation is still lacking. Therefore, our aim is to conduct a scoping review to summarise the negative effects of COVID-19 on non-COVID-19 clinical trials, outline the effective measures for mitigating these impacts, and provide insights for future pandemics.Methods and analysis This scoping review will be conducted in line with the Joanna Briggs Institute’s scoping review methodological framework, and the results will be reported following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews. Relevant articles will be searched in PubMed, Embase and the Cochrane Library from 1 December 2019 to 1 July 2023. We will also screen the reference lists of the included studies manually to identify more potentially relevant articles. Articles focusing on the adverse impacts of COVID-19 on non-COVID-19 clinical trials and effective measures for mitigating them will be included. Two investigators will perform study selection and data extraction independently. A narrative summary as well as a descriptive analysis of the basic characteristics and key results of the included studies will be performed.Ethics and dissemination Ethical approval is not required, as this scoping review will be completed based only on published literature. The findings of this scoping review will be disseminated through a peer-reviewed publication and/or conference presentations.

Objectives We aimed to comprehensively evaluate the relationship between forkhead box P3 (FOXP3+) regulatory T cell (Treg) expression and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) prognosis and to explore the sources of heterogeneity of the results.Design Systematic review and meta-analysis.Data sources We searched the Cochrane Library, PubMed, Embase and Web of Science databases up to 5 December 2021.Eligibility criteria We included studies that analysed the prognostic significance of FOXP3+ Tregs in DLBCL. Introduction Concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) is the standard of care for inoperable locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer. To further improve prognosis, the use of consolidation treatments after CCRT has been explored extensively. Although durvalumab is the only consolidation treatment recommended by national clinical practice guidelines, there have been many studies exploring the effectiveness of other agents. However, until now, no studies have compared all agents systematically, and no studies have provided evidence for the optimal combination of different CCRTs and consolidation treatments regimens. This systematic review will evaluate the comparative clinical efficacy of consolidation therapies after CCRT as well as various combinations of CCRTs and consolidation therapies.Methods and analysis PubMed, the Cochrane Controlled Register of Trials (CENTRAL), EMBASE and ClinicalTrials.gov will be searched for relevant information. The estimated end date for the search will be 3 February 2022. Each stage of the review, including the study section, data extraction and risk of bias and quality of evidence assessments, will be performed in duplicate. We will include randomised controlled trials that included participants who received CCRT and consolidation treatment in at least one treatment arm. The primary endpoints will be overall survival and progression-free survival. Tumour response, health-related quality of life, disease-free survival and treatment-related toxicity will be presented as secondary outcomes. Both traditional meta-analysis and network meta-analysis (NMA) with the Bayesian approach will be conducted. Subgroup analyses and meta-regression will be completed to investigate heterogeneity, and sensitivity analyses will be conducted to assess the robustness of the findings.Ethics and dissemination Ethical approval and patient consent are not required as this study is a meta-analysis based on published studies. The results of this study will be submitted to a peer-reviewed journal for publication. In case of any changes in the protocol, protocol amendments will be updated in PROSPERO and explanations of these modifications will be described in the final report of this review. Objective Whether splenectomy increases the risk of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) remains unclear. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to explore the association between splenectomy and CTEPH.Design Systematic review and meta-analysis.Data sources PubMed, Embase and Cochrane Library databases.Methods Two authors independently searched and extracted the data. The Newcastle-Ottawa Scale and the Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology guidelines were used to assess the quality of the included studies, and each quality item was graded as low risk or high risk. A random-effects model was used to calculate different effective values.Results In total, 8 trials involving 6183 participants fulfilled the inclusion criteria. IntroductionLaryngeal mask airway (LMA), an alternative to traditional tracheal intubation, is widely used in clinical practice and is considered to be an effective device for airway management. LMA and i-gel have been widely used in anaesthesia and emergency situations in children. Some systematic reviews have evaluated the efficacy of LMA and i-gel in children, but they have not shown consistent results in clinical performance. This study aims to evaluate the airway complications of all subtypes of LMA and i-gel in child patients under general anaesthesia using a Bayesian network meta-analysis (NMA).Methods and analysisPubMed, EMBASE.com, the Cochrane library, Web of Science and Chinese Biomedical Literature Database will be searched from inception to January 2019. We will include prospective randomised controlled trials (RCTs) that reported the subtypes of LMA and i-gel regardless of sample size. The risk of bias assessment of the included RCTs will be conducted according to the Cochrane Handbook V.5.1.0. A Bayesian NMA will be performed using WinBUGS V.1.4.3. Objectives Soluble urokinase plasminogen activated receptor (suPAR) is a biomarker that may predict the occurrence of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS); however, there is still controversy about whether suPAR can predict FSGS. In this study, we performed a systematic evaluation and meta-analysis to prove whether suPAR can predict FSGS, and to detect a threshold concentration of suPAR that can be used to diagnose FSGS. In addition, a threshold concentration of suPAR for the diagnosis of FSGS was proposed. Design Systematic review and meta-analysis. Data sources We systematically searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science and China Biology Medicine databases for studies published from the inception dates to 1 December 2018. Eligibility criteria (1) Data involving the suPAR level were from blood samples; (2) FSGS was diagnosed by biopsy; and (3) randomised controlled trials, cohort studies, case–control studies and cross-sectional studies. Data extraction and synthesis Initially, a total of 364 studies were searched, among which 29 studies were finally included. In addition, seven studies described the cut-off value of suPAR, which ranged from 2992.6 to 5500 pg/mL. Results The results showed that the suPAR levels in the primary FSGS group were significantly higher when compared with that in the normal control group (p<0.001; standard mean difference (SMD): 2.56; 95% CI 1.85 to 3.28), and significant differences were observed in the secondary FSGS and in the normal control group (p<0.001; SMD: 1.68; 95% CI 1.37 to 1.98). A suPAR concentration of 3000 pg/mL may be the best threshold for the diagnosis of primary FSGS (sensitivity=0.72; specificity=0.88; area under the curve=0.85). Conclusion Our results suggested that suPAR might be a potential biomarker for predicting primary and secondary FSGS. Introduction Patient and public versions of guidelines (PVGs) can help with individual decision making and enhance the patient-clinician relationship by providing easily understandable and reliable information. An increasing number of guideline organisations are developing PVGs. However, the reporting of PVGs by different groups and organisations varies widely. This study aims to develop a reporting checklist for PVGs for healthcare. Methods and analysis We will develop the PVG reporting checklist as an extension of the Reporting Tool for Practice Guidelines in Healthcare (RIGHT) statement. We will build on the methods recommended by the EQUATOR network, which is our starting point. We will conduct a literature review, establish an international multidisciplinary team, run a modified Delphi process to identify the reporting items and pilot test the draft reporting checklist. We plan to update the checklist every 3 years. Introduction Postoperative atrial fibrillation (POAF) is the most common complication following cardiac surgery, and randomised clinical trials (RCTs) and systematic reviews have been conducted to compare and evaluate different pharmacological interventions for preventing POAF. This study aimed to explore the effect of different pharmacological interventions for prophylaxis against POAF after cardiac surgery using network meta-analysis (NMA). Methods and analysis A systematic search will be performed in PubMed, EMBASE and the Cochrane Library to identify RCTs, systematic reviews, meta-analyses or NMA of different pharmacological interventions for POAF. We will evaluate the risk of bias of the included RCTs according to the Cochrane Handbook V.5.1.0, and use GRADE to assess the quality of evidence. Standard pairwise meta-analysis, trial sequential analysis and Bayesian network meta-analysis will be used to compare the efficacy of different pharmacological interventions. Objectives: Considering equity into guidelines presents methodological challenges. This study aims to qualitatively synthesise the methods for incorporating equity in clinical practice guidelines (CPGs). Setting: Content analysis of methodological publications. Eligibility criteria for selecting studies: Methodological publications were included if they provided checklists/frameworks on when, how and to what extent equity should be incorporated in CPGs. Data sources: We electronically searched MEDLINE, retrieved references, and browsed guideline development organisation websites from inception to January 2013. After study selection by two authors, general characteristics and checklists items/framework components from included studies were extracted. Based on the questions or items from checklists/ frameworks (unit of analysis), content analysis was conducted to identify themes and questions/items were grouped into these themes. Primary outcomes: The primary outcomes were methodological themes and processes on how to address equity issues in guideline development. Results: 8 studies with 10 publications were included from 3405 citations. In total, a list of 87 questions/ items was generated from 17 checklists/frameworks. After content analysis, questions were grouped into eight themes ('scoping questions', 'searching relevant evidence', 'appraising evidence and recommendations', 'formulating recommendations', 'monitoring implementation', 'providing a flow chart to include equity in CPGs', and 'others: reporting of guidelines and comments from stakeholders' for CPG developers and 'assessing the quality of CPGs' for CPG users). Four included studies covered more than five of these themes. We also summarised the process of guideline development based on the themes mentioned above. Conclusions: For disadvantaged population-specific CPGs, eight important methodological issues identified in this review should be considered when including equity in CPGs under the guidance of a scientific guideline development manual.
