Abstract Background Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is commonly associated with insulin resistance (IR) and dyslipidaemia. Apolipoprotein E (APOE) plays important roles in lipid metabolism. The study aimed to disentangle the multifactorial relationships between IR and APOE based on a large-scale population with OSA. Methods A total of 5,591 participants who underwent polysomnography for OSA diagnosis were finally enrolled. We collected anthropometric, fasting biochemical and polysomnographic data for each participant. Linear regression analysis was performed to evaluate the relationships between APOE, IR, and sleep breathing-related parameters. Logistic regression, restricted cubic spline (RCS) and mediation analyses were used to explore relationships between APOE and IR in patients with OSA. Results Increasing OSA severity was associated with greater obesity, more obvious dyslipidaemia, and higher levels of APOE and IR. Abstract Objectives Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is associated with abnormal glucose and lipid metabolism. However, whether there is an independent association between Sleep Apnea-Specific Hypoxic Burden (SASHB) and glycolipid metabolism disorders in patients with OSA is unknown. Methods We enrolled 2,173 participants with suspected OSA from January 2019 to July 2023 in this study. Polysomnographic variables, biochemical indicators, and physical measurements were collected from each participant. Multiple linear regression analyses were used to evaluate independent associations between SASHB, AHI, CT90 and glucose as well as lipid profile. Abstract Purpose To evaluate the prevalence, characteristics, and respiratory arousal threshold (ArTH) of Chinese patients with positional obstructive sleep apnea (POSA) according to the Cartwright Classification (CC) and Amsterdam Positional Obstructive Sleep Apnea Classification (APOC). Methods A large-scale cross-sectional study was conducted in our sleep center from 2007 to 2018 to analyze the clinical and polysomnography (PSG) data of Chinese POSA patients. Low ArTH was defined based on PSG indices. Results Of 5,748 OSA patients, 36.80% met the CC criteria, and 42.88% the APOC criteria, for POSA. The prevalence of POSA was significantly higher in women than men (40.21% and 46.52% vs. 36.13% and 42.18% for CC and APOC, respectively). Abstract Background The relationships between apolipoprotein A-I (APOA-I), apolipoprotein B (APOB) with insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome (MetS) are unclear in OSA. We aimed to evaluate whether the multiple single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) variants of APOA-I and APOB exert a collaborative effect on insulin resistance and MetS in OSA. Methods Initially, 12 APOA-I SNPs and 30 APOB SNPs in 5259 subjects were examined. After strict screening, four APOA-I SNPs and five APOB SNPs in 4007 participants were included. For each participant, the genetic risk score (GRS) was calculated based on the cumulative effect of multiple genetic variants of APOA-I and APOB. Logistic regression analyses were used to evaluate the relationships between APOA-I/APOB genetic polymorphisms, insulin resistance, and MetS in OSA.
