The 2005 Virgin/ DTS DVD-A/V is a fine place to start, with a robust 24-bit/96kHz DTS Master Audio 5.1 mix by Ronald Prent and mastered by Simon Heyworth, including a pair of vintage videoclips to boot. The 1985 Virgin and/or 1993 Virgin/A&M Redbook CDs are all well and good for completists, but if you really want to enjoy the album's stereo mix digitally, then the remaster found in the 2015 Virgin/Universal 2CD Deluxe Expanded Edition will do you just fine - unless you're a Super Audio CD fan, that is, in which case you can try to hunt down the 2003 Virgin hybrid SACD. Music AL STEWART AL STEWART is the kind of seasoned artist known for being well worth the wait. Stewart's narrative singing voice - perhaps his most direct stylistic descendent is Neil Tennant of Pet Shop Boys - stays mostly in the middle as previously burrowed piano and guitar accents are relegated to various quadrants in mostly supportive, but more clearly identifiable, ways. Some Stereophile readers will surely remember - some may even have in their collections - Christian Marclay's 1985 vinyl release Record Without a Cover, surely one of the oddest records ever, right up there with the dying-rabbit record and the seven-inch single that's tinted yellow by the band's actual urine. But then I read an interview between Marclay and musi-cian/scholar David Toop,1 published in a book I recommend: Arcana III: Musicians on Music (Hips Road, 2008).
