Avoiding diabetic ketoacidosis in perioperative and procedure settings: Sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) are a relatively new class of oral medications for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. While they are particularly helpful for managing blood glucose in diabetic patients with cardiovascular comorbidities, they also come with side-effects and potentially life-threatening risks.
