Objectives: to understand the process of adapting to childbirth during the COVID-19 pandemic from the perspective of a group of pregnant women., Methods: a qualitative, descriptive-exploratory study was conducted with 23 women. Data were collected between October and December 2021 through documentation and semi-structured interviews, which were analyzed using Minayo's methodology and Roy's Adaptation Model., Results: various types of stimuli - focal, contextual, and residual - were identified as influencing childbirth preparation. The online group was essential for facilitating pregnant women's adaptation, offering significant support and generating positive feedback for childbirth preparation., Final Considerations: the importance of pregnant women's groups as a strategy for improving adaptation to childbirth was identified, underscoring the effectiveness of this support among professionals and participants, as well as among pregnant women. This support network strengthened preparation for childbirth during a challenging period like the pandemic.

Objective: To identify the pedagogical strategies and the elements that determine the construction of the educational workshop in healthcare at the teaching-service integration process., Method: Collective case study with qualitative approach. The cases consisted of two undergraduate courses in nursing. Thirty-one interviews were conducted with healthcare professionals, professors and students, in addition to participant observation in seven basic health units (UBS) that received the students interviewed., Results: The following analytical categories emerged: teaching-service integration: articulating idealized situations with real situations; pedagogical workshop in health: development of collective pedagogical actions; reflection on the experiences in the pedagogical workshop in health: articulating the knowledge of the work world with the teaching world., Final Consideration: Despite the integration difficulties between teaching and service, we can conclude that their encounter generates a fertile field for the development of the educational workshop in healthcare. To this end, the agreement of the strategies presented in the constitution of the workshop is necessary.

Objective: To define a theoretical framework to guide the systematization of nursing care in a maternity unit in the South of Brazil., Method: This was the preliminary stage of a qualitative methodological study, based on an educational activity and the assumptions of Paulo Freire, involving 15 nurses, between August and November 2015. The aim of data analysis was to identify emerging themes., Results: The following themes emerged: knowledge of nurses about nursing theories; barriers to implementing and systematizing nursing care; the importance of a framework to guide practice and; educational activities as opportunities to systematize nursing care., Conclusion: The discussion process involved in establishing the theoretical framework enabled reflections about nursing practices, reinforcing the importance of theoretical frameworks to guide work processes and enhance quality of care.

Objective: to understand how dialogue occurs in the pedagogical relation in the practical reflective teaching in an undergraduate program in nursing., Method: qualitative research, case study. Data collection was conducted from May 2013 to September 2014 with eight professors of Nursing, by means of observation and interviews. Data analysis followed the operational proposal constituted by the exploratory stage and the interpretive stage., Results: point the dialogue established within the pedagogical relation as a challenge to be faced in practical-reflective teaching, so professor and student build a relationship that foster thought and action in the theoretical context and in the field of practice., Conclusion: in establishing a dialogic-reflective tone in the pedagogical relationship, the professor opens paths to new discoveries, enabling the creation of teaching-learning spaces that stimulate autonomy, abilities, and critical and reflective attitudes of students along their education.

Objective: to analyze the application of the theory evaluation model proposed by Meleis in Brazilian studies., Method: integrative review of online articles published from 2002 to 2012 in the databases LILACS and BDENF., Results: the 16 selected studies confirmed the use of only three of the five stages proposed for Meleis' theories analysis: Description of the Theory, Criticism of the Theory and Analysis of the Theory, with a predominance of a single unit of analysis in each., Conclusion: the analysis of nursing theories provides support to nurses in the practice, research, education and administration of the different dimensions of care. Meleis' model figures as very important by contributing to the development of knowledge of nursing discipline, considering that its use as a method allows several reflections on theories in order that they be revalidated to support a more theoretical and practical applicability.

Objective: compare divergences and convergences between the nursing diagnoses established for a case study, in the light of two nursing terminologies., Method: a descriptive research was undertaken. The participants were 24 nurses from public teaching hospitals (N=12) and hospital care institutions (N=12) in the Northeast of Brazil., Results: in group A (6 faculty members and 6 clinical professionals), 51 diagnoses were established according to NANDA-I: 54.9% of high accuracy, 23.5% zero, 15.7% low and 5.9% moderate accuracy. In group B (6 faculty members and 6 clinical professionals), 43 declarations were established using the ICNP®: 44.2% of zero accuracy, 39.5% high, 16.3% low. Four out of fi ve diagnostic titles of high accuracy in group A and the seven titles in group B converged; divergences were attributed to the number of combinations among the focus, judgment and location axes of the ICNP®., Conclusion: a range of titles was observed with different diagnostic inferences and low diagnostic accuracy in both groups.

Objective: to know the beliefs of older adults about their vulnerability to HIV/Aids, and to identify nursing diagnoses., Method: a field research implemented in Family Health Units, in João Pessoa, Brazil. The sample included 250 older adults of both genders with data collected from April to July of 2011. A Test of Free Word Association was applied using the term HIV/Aids. A content analysis and cross-mapping of the most frequent terms with the International Classification for Nursing Practice, 2011 were performed., Results: 202 terms were identified in terms, with an overall frequency of 1156. Of the 202 terms, 16 were more frequent and were used to construct the nursing diagnoses. The diagnoses identified were knowledge about appropriate sexual behavior, ability for partial protection, fear of death and hopelessness., Conclusion: understanding these beliefs drew from knowledge about factors related to, vulnerability to HIV/Aids aimed at planning health care actions for this population segment.

Descriptive and comparative study, developed from two historical used to implement the Systematization of Nursing Care in a Pediatric clinic of a teaching hospital. It aimed to compare the International Nursing Minimum Data Set (i-NMDS) with the data contained in nursing clinical assessment tools that are used in the application of the Nursing Process in the area of Children and Teenagers Health in a Pediatric Clinic. From the sixteen items evaluated that belong to the proposal of the i-NMDS, the nursing clinical assessment tool for hospitalized teenagers included 12 (75%), while the instrument for children from 0 to 5 years old presented 7 (43.75%). It was concluded that the nursing clinical assessment tools analyzed did not include the i-NMDS data in its entirety. It is suggested that there should be an improvement on the development of the nursing clinical assessment tools, using standardized nursing language for planning assistance, documenting activities, identify and measure the results of practice.

This is an epidemiological research, descriptive and transversal, which had as objectives to estimate the prevalence of overburden among family caregivers of dependent elderly in the city of João Pessoa, Paraíba, and to identify its relationship with the elderly's conditions of health, functionality and demand for care. The population comprised 240 elderly people residents in the twenty census sectors in the referred city. The sample was composed of 52 elderly people with functional inability and their caregivers. To data collection, it was applied a structured questionnaire and the scales of Mini Mental State Examination, Katz Index and Burden Interview. The results demonstrated that 84.6% of caregivers showed overburden, which was associated with clinical and functional characteristics of the elderly and with the demand for care. The findings bring relevant contributions to the elaboration of public policies in order to establish formal support for families' caregivers.

This paper aims to describe (1) the evolution of the International Classification for Nursing Practice (ICNP® ), since the International Council of Nurses (ICN) assumed, in 1989, the task of developing a classification of the elements of professional practice (nursing diagnoses, interventions and outcomes) with an international ambit; (2) the ICNP® Programme and its structural components, which fit together to conform the ICNP® terminology life cycle; (3) the Centres for ICNP® Research and Development, accredited by ICN; (4) finally, the Brazilian Center's contribution for research, development and dissemination of the ICNP® terminology. The ICNP® is constantly evolving and much has been achieved in nearly twenty-five years of its development. The ICNP® Centres have played a key role in the development, dissemination and use of the terminology in different fields of professional practice - teaching, clinical practice, research and management of nursing care.

Knowledge areas have been discussed by Science and Technology managers and administrators and by the scientific community searching for tools to support data systematization, mainly for management and administrative activities. The main table in use by CNPq is admittedly outdated and requires revision or reclassification. The aim of this article is to contribute to the current debate based on previous results from participation in a table review study performed in the 1990 s and on research results in the area of knowledge organization and representation in the context of Information Science. It presents a proposal to reformulate the Nursing Knowledge Area and some reflections about the possibilities of this ongoing process.

The study aimed to build an instrument to collect nursing data for patients in a General ICU, based in Horta. Action research developed in three phases: identification of the empirical indicators in hospitalized adults in a General ICU; validation of the indicators and formatting of the preliminary instrument; apparent and content validation with a posterior arrangement of the instrument final version. A number of 545 empirical indicators were identified, remaining 179 with IC > 0.80, being the final version of the instrument structured in four main areas: Identification, Interview, Physical Examination, Nurse Impressions and Intercurrences. It is believed that this instrument will identify situations of health and disease and nursing care needs; will promote a more effective interpersonal relationship among nurses, clients and families; will disclose the imperative of the systematization of nursing care on quality of care, as well as raise new researches working with Nursing own tools.

The objective was to understand how users of an emergency service see the nursing action in the user embracement. Interviews were carried out with 382 service users from October 2008 to March 2009. We randomly approached subjects that were assessed in the embracement and they directed to the emergency ward. It was verified that even though most users (34.5%) reported having being assisted by the nursing team, few reported having been guided by some professional of the embracement team (49.2%). The major difficulties experienced by users referred to the lack of information on care and respect in the assistance. We emphasize the importance of more nursing activities in user embracement, understanding it as an activity not restricted to a service entrance.

This study aims to identify the nursing theses and dissertation production catalogued in the Center for Study in Nursing Research - CEPEN, which treats nurse formation according to the National Curricular Directives on the SUS formation approach. This is a bibliometric and descriptive study performed on the theses and dissertations catalog of CEPEN, between 2003 and 2007. Twenty seven papers were selected, and quantitatively analyzed according to institution, year of publication, degree of research (dissertations or theses), type of research, and qualitatively analyzed according to themes, philosophical theory, and methodological reference. The results show 100% of the work performed in public institutions, with increased production in theses, there are few studies that deal with the profile of graduates, as well as training for SUS.

This is a methodological study of innovative technology developed which aims to build up nursing care protocol to the patient in the pre and postoperative bariatric surgery. The proposed model of care was based on the General Theory Orem Self-Care and organized from the requirements of self-care (universal, developmental and health deviation). Within each requirement, it is presented nursing diagnoses, expected outcomes and nursing interventions that were identified in a survey conducted with 31 clients suffering from morbid obesity, assisted by the Gastroenterology Outpatient Clinic of a university hospital in the period from April to June 2009. The development of the protocol is considered an important resource both to organize the guidelines provided by nurses to the bariatric patient, aiming their self-care, and to provide subsidies to systematize nursing care to be provided.

Concepts are terms referring to phenomena that occur in nature or in thought, which are essential in developing research, as well as in the construction of theories. To fulfill this role in the construction of scientific knowledge, it is appropriate for them to be reviewed periodically, aiming mainly at its improvement. Despite the existence of different models of conceptual analysis, this methodology, in general, has not been well understood by nursing, especially in our reality. Therefore, in this article, of reflection, we describe some methodological considerations, including a practical approach on the methods proposed by Walker and Avant, Rodgers and Schwartz-Barcott and Kim, in order to give nurses greater understanding of this process.

The use of information technologies are considered as instruments that can do that nursing practice becomes visible in health data, local, national and internationally, in way to influence the elaboration of health and education policies. The development of nursing classification systems is approached, with emphasis in the International Classification for Nursing Practice - ICNP, with technological instrument for professional practice, which has as one of the principal criteria for its construction to be sufficiently wide and sensitive to cultural diversity, so that it serves to the multiples purposes requested by the different countries where it will be used.

Research with the purpose of understanding the limits/possibilities of the implementation of mental health actions in the services of the basic health system of the municipal district of Cabedelo-PB, in the perspective of the Psychiatric Reform proposed in the country. It has theoretical-methodological reference in the Historical Materialism and Dialectics. The empiric material was analyzed by the technique of speech analysis. The results indicated that the work process of the nurses identifies with the work process to Attend (Care/Making). It preserves aspects of the traditional model, but it incorporates other focuses of the Collective Health, in a movement that requests the understanding of the presuppositions of the movement for the Psychiatric Reform for the transformation of the work process of nursing, in the sense of the social inclusion and of the integrality of the assistance.

In this paper some aspects concerning the nursing classification systems are discussed, with emphasis in the International Classification for Nursing Practice (ICNP) and the perspectives of its incorporation in Brazilian nursing practice. The authors present three Brazilian experiences of incorporation of that classification system: the project of implementation of the language CIPE/CIPESC in electronic record of the Health Department of Curitiba - PR; the project of systematization of nursing care in UTI, that is being developed in Florianópolis - SC; and the development of a technological instrumental, based on the terms used by the nursing team components, for insertion in information systems of a school hospital, in João Pessoa - PB.

This study is the result of research conducted by senior students of the Nursing Course on the conceptions of the mental health/disease process in the perspective of the Psychiatric Reform proposed countrywide. It was based on the theoretical-methodological system of the Historical and Dialectical Materialism and it has Work as its category of analysis. The empirical material was analyzed through the Speech Analysis technique. The themes gathered from the speeches converged into the formation of an empirical category that refers to the reproduction of the knowledge of traditional psychiatry in the teaching of Nursing, indicating a professional education based on that conservative social position.

In this essay some aspects concerning the phenomenon of knowledge and of the activity of knowing are taken into consideration, serving to the authors'purpose to point out the perspective from which they understand which have been the contribution of the nursing theories for the construction of the knowledge of the area. The nursing theories select, define and interrelate concepts representative of phenomena that are in the nursing domain of interest. To guarantee the understanding and the recognition of the meaning of the concepts included in these theoretical frameworks is a basic aspect, therefore it raises their potential of practical applicability, either in education, research or nursing care.

The objective of this study was to validate the data collection instrument used in adult hospitalization, verifying if the items permitted data collection that enabled the development of later phases of systematization of nursing care, improvement of its operation, and the construction of an instructional guide. The research was conducted in a Medical Clinic at the Lauro Wanderley University Hospital, (HULW), where data collection has taken place since 1984. The technique used for validation was to interview a focus group. The sample consisted of 13 nurses, and the activities took place from September to December 2002. The result of the discussions enabled restructuring of the instrument according to the consensus obtained, adapting it to the most objective form for clinical use according to the characteristics of the clients.

Communication is an indispensable tool in the context of the assistance; the written form is widely used in the educational activities in health. This article describes aspects related to the language, illustrations and layout that health professionals should consider when elaborating educational printed material, in order to make it legible, understandable, efficient and culturally relevant. Considering the great contribution of written material in the context of education in health and the role of these resources to promote health, to prevent illnesses, to develop skills, to favor patient's autonomy, one concludes that it is important to create, to develop and to produce qualified material which can the patient's needs.

This research aims at the systematization of nursing assistance under Orem's nursing theory of self-care deficit. In order to conduct this study, the convergent approach was used through the performance of the nursing processes in an adult with asthma. Interviews, physical examinations, observations, data record, observation of nursing assistance in policlinics along with home visits were the techniques used to gather data. After the observation of the nursing assistance, self-care deficits were identified and a new assistance plan and objectives were established, as well as a system and methods of support. The assistance plan was performed through the implementation of nursing assistance, prioritizing educational support. Based on the results, it was concluded that the application of the nursing processes through Orem's self-care referential is feasible and necessary for the engagement of clients and their family in self-care.

This work aims at continuing the contribution of Brazilian nursing in the elaboration of ICNPâ, which is being constructed by the coordination of ICN. It has two main objectives which are: 1) the definition of the terms identified in the CIPESC project and classified in the axis focus of nursing practice of the Nursing Phenomena Classification of ICNPâ-Beta Version; 2) the validation of these definitions within a group of judges composed of professionals who were previously involved in the execution of the CIPESC project, or who were teachers or nurse assistants in the area of community health nursing. The process was carried out in two phases, considering that the definitions that had a 0.80 rate of Agreement (RA) within the group of judges were validated. Ninety-nine definitions of the terms were validated: 26 attained a RA equal to 1.00; 56 attained a RA between 0.90-0.99 and, 17 attained a RA between 0.80 an 0.89. The definition of one term was not validated.
