We investigate rare decays of Higgs via exchange of two almost degenerate heavy on-shell Majorana neutrinos $N_j$ ($j=1,2$): $��_{\pm} = ��(h \to ��_k N_j \to ��_k \ell^{\pm} ��^{\mp})$, and into the open quark channels $��_{\pm} = ��(h \to ��_k N_j \to ��_k \ell^{\pm} U D)$, where $U D$ are two jets of open quarks (${\bar U} D$, or $U {\bar D}$, where $U=u, c$ and $D=d, s$). The related CP violation asymmetry $A_{\rm CP} = (��_{-} - ��_{+})/(��_{-} + ��_{+})$ is studied in detail. We take into account the $N_1$-$N_2$ overlap and oscillation effects. We can see that for certain, presently acceptable, range of input parameters, such decays with open quark channels, and their asymmetries, could be detected in the International Linear Collider (ILC).

The disagreement between the standard model prediction and the experimental measurement of muon anomalous magnetic moment can be alleviated by invoking an additional particle which is either a vector boson ($X_1$) or a scalar ($X_0$). This new particle, with the mass $m_X \lesssim 2 m_��$, can be searched for in the decay $J/��\to ��^- ��^+ X$, where $X$ is missing. In the 2-spinor formalism, the gravity can be dealt with curvature spinors with four spinor indices. Here we show a new effective method to express the components of curvature spinors in the rank-2 $4 \times 4$ tensor representation for the gravity in a locally inertial frame. In the process we have developed a few manipulating techniques, through which the roles of each component of Riemann curvature tensor are revealed. We define a new algebra `sedon', whose structure is almost the same as sedenion except the basis multiplication rule. Finally we also show that curvature spinors can be represented in the sedon form and observe the chiral structure in curvature spinors. A few applications of the sedon representation, which includes the quaternion form of differential Binanchi indentity, are also presented., Comment: 24 pages, 4 tables

Decays of heavy pseudoscalar mesons $B$, $B_c$, $B_s$ and $D_s$ at LHCb upgrade are considered, which produce either two equal sign muons or taus. In addition, we consider the analogous decays with opposite sign muons or taus. All these decays are considered to be mediated by a heavy on-shell neutrino $N$. Such decays of $B$ mesons, if not detected, will give in general stringent upper bounds on the heavy-light mixing parameter $|U_{��N}|^2$ as a function of the neutrino mass $M_N \sim 1$ GeV, principally due to the large expected number of produced mesons $B$. While some of the decays of the other mentioned mesons are attractive due to a weaker CKM-suppression, the expected produced number of such mesons is significantly smaller that that of $B$'s; therefore, the sensitivity bounds from such decays are in general comparable or less restrictive. When $��$ pairs are produced, only two types of such decays are significant: $B^{\pm}, B_{c}^{\pm} \to ��^{\pm} ��^{\pm} ��^{\mp}$ (and $��^{\pm} ��^{\mp} ��^{\pm}$), giving us stringent upper bounds on $|U_{��N}|^2$; the other decays with a pair of $��$, such as $B^0 \to D^{(*)-} ��^+ ��^+ ��^-$ (and $D^{(*)-} ��^+ ��^- ��^+$), are prohibited or very suppressed by kinematics., 13 pages, 4 figures; the paper is a continuation of our work arXiv:1705.09403; v4: improved legends in Fig.2

Distinguishing the Dirac and Majorana nature of neutrinos remains one of the most important tasks in neutrino physics. By assuming that the $��^- \to ��^- ��^- e^+ ��$ (or $\bar��$) decay is resonantly enhanced by the exchange of an intermediate mass sterile neutrino $N$, we show that the energy spectrum of emitted pions and muons can be used to easily distinguish between the Dirac and Majorana nature of $N$. This method takes advantage of the fact that the flavor of light neutrinos is not identified in the tau decay under consideration. We find that it is particularly advantageous, because of no competing background events, to search for $N$ in the mass range $m_e + m_�� \leqslant m_N \leqslant m_�� + m_��$, where $m_X$ denotes the mass of particle $X \in \{ e, ��, ��, N \}$., 6 pages, 5 figures, accepted for publication in Physical Review D

The universality of the weak interactions can be tested in semileptonic $b \to c$ transitions, and in particular in the ratios $R(D^{(*)}) \equiv ��(B \rightarrow D^{(*)} ����)/��(B \rightarrow D^{(*)} \ell ��)$ (where $\ell = ��$ or $e$). Due to the recent differences between the experimental measurements of these observables by BaBar, Belle and LHCb on the one hand and the Standard Model predicted values on the other hand, we study the predicted ratios $R(D^{(*)}) = ��(B \rightarrow D^{(*)} ��+$ "missing" $)/��(B \rightarrow D^{(*)} \ell ��)$ in scenarios with an additional sterile heavy neutrino of mass $\sim 1$ GeV. Further, we evaluate the newly defined ratio $R(0) \equiv ��(B \to ��+$ "missing" $)/��(B \to ����)$ in such scenarios, in view of the future possibilities of measuring the quantity at Belle-II., 17 pages, 6 figures, 3 tables, to appear in Chinese Physics C

We consider the lepton number violating decays $B \to ��^{\pm} ��^{\pm} ��^{\mp}$ and $B \to D^{(*)} ��^{\pm} ��^{\pm} ��^{\mp}$ which may be detected at LHCb and Belle-II experiments; and $B \to ��^{\pm} ��^{\pm} e^{\mp} ��$ and $B \to D^{(*)} ��^{\pm} ��^{\pm} e^{\mp} ��$ decays which may be detected at Belle-II experiment. The projected total number of produced $B$ mesons is $4.8 \times 10^{12}$ at LHCb upgrade and $5 \times 10^{10}$ at Belle-II. For the case that the above decays are not detected, we deduce the new upper bounds (sensitivity limits) for the mixing parameter $|U_{��N}|^2$ of heavy sterile neutrino with sub-eV light neutrino, as a function of the sterile neutrino mass in the interval $1.75 \ {\rm GeV} < M_N < 5.0 \ {\rm GeV}$. We take into account the probability of decay of the sterile neutrino $N$ within the detector, taking as the effective detector length $L=2.3 \ m$ at LCHb upgrade and $L=1 \ m$ at Belle-II. In the interval $1.75 \ {\rm GeV} < M_N < 3 \ {\rm GeV}$, the most stringent bounds can be obtained with the decays $B \to ��^{\pm} ��^{\pm} ��^{\mp}$ at LHCb upgrade. The sensitivity limits are expected to be in general more stringent at LHCb upgrade than at Belle-II, principally because the number of produced $B$ mesons in LHCb upgrade is expected to be by about two orders of magnitude larger than at Belle-II. We conclude that the LHCb upgrade and Belle-II experiments have the potential to either find a new heavy Majorana neutrino $N$, or to improve significantly the sensitivity limits (upper bounds) on the heavy-light mixing parameter $|U_{��N}|^2$, particularly in the mass range $1.75 \ {\rm GeV} < M_N < 3 \ {\rm GeV}$. We present the fully general, model independent study of a few rare semileptonic $B$ decays that get dominant contributions from $W$-annihilation and $W$-exchange diagrams, in particular $B^0 \to \bar{D}^0 \ell^+\ell^-$, where $\ell = e,\mu$. We consider the most general Lagrangian for the decay, and define three angular asymmetries in the Gottfried-Jackson frame, which are sensitive to new physics. We show how these angular asymmetries can be easily extracted from the distribution of events in the Dalitz plot for $B \to D \ell^+ \ell^-$ decays. Especially a non-zero forward-backward asymmetry within the frame would give the very first hint of possible new physics. These observations are also true for related decay modes, such as $B^+ \to D^+ \ell^+ \ell^-$ and $B^0 \to D^0 \ell^+ \ell^-$. Moreover, these asymmetry signatures are not affected by either $B^0$-$\bar{B}^0$ or $D^0$-$\bar{D}^0$ mixings. Then, this implies that both $B^0 \to \bar{D}^0 \ell^+ \ell^-$ and $B^0 \to D^0 \ell^+ \ell^-$ as well as their CP conjugate modes can all be considered together in our search for signature of new physics. Hence, it would be of great importance to look for and study these decays in the laboratory, LHCb and Belle II in particular., Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures

Some of the outstanding questions of particle physics today concern the neutrino sector, in particular whether there are more neutrinos than those already known and whether they are Dirac or Majorana particles.There are different ways to explore these issues. In this article we describe neutrino-mediated decays of charged pseudoscalar mesons such as $��^{\pm}$, $K^{\pm}$ and $B^{\pm}$, in scenarios where extra neutrinos are heavy and can be on their mass shell. We discuss semileptonic and leptonic decays of such kinds. We investigate possible ways of using these decays in order to distinguish between the Dirac and Majorana character of neutrinos. Further, we argue that there are significant possibilities of detecting CP violation in such decays when there are at least two almost degenerate Majorana neutrinos involved. This latter type of scenario fits well into the known neutrino minimal standard model ($��$MSM) which could simultaneously explain the Dark Matter and Baryon Asymmetry of the Universe., v3: 37 pages, 14 figures; minor typographical errors corrected; published in Symmetry

The axial-vector emitting weak hadronic decays of $��_c^0$ baryon are investigated. After employing the factorization and the pole model framework to predict their branching ratios, we derive the symmetry breaking effects on axial-vector-meson-baryon couplings and effects of flavor dependence on baryon-baryon weak transition amplitudes and, consequently, on their branching ratios. We found that the W-exchange process contributions dominate $p$-wave meson emitting decays of $��_c^0$ baryon., 23 pages, 5 tables, final version accepted for publication in Phys. Rev. D

We derive the decay widths for the leptonic decays of heavy charged pseudoscalars to massive sterile neutrinos, $M^{\pm} \to \ell^{\pm} + N$, within the frameworks involving the Standard Model and two-Higgs doublets (type II). We then apply the result to $B^\pm \to ��^\pm +$ "missing momentum" of the Belle/BaBar experimental results, in order to measure directly the relevant parameter space, including the mixing parameter $U_{��N}$., 19 pages, 6 figures, published at Phys. In a scenario with two almost mass degenerate heavy sterile Majorana neutrinos with a mass $\sim 1$ GeV, we present the semileptonic decay widths of heavy charged pseudoscalars such as $B$ mesons, either lepton-number-violating ($B^{\pm} \to ��^{\pm} e^{\pm} ��^{\mp}$), or lepton-number-conserving ($B^{\pm} \to ��^{\pm} e^{\mp} ��^{\pm}$), mediated by such on-shell neutrinos. It had been explained in the literature that such decays may be eventually detected, and that they can present even detectable CP violation effects. In this work we point out that, in addition, such decays may present detectable effects of heavy neutrino oscillation, allowing us to extract the oscillation length and thus the heavy neutrino mass difference $��M_N$, as well as a CP-violating Majorana phase., 18 pages,7 figures; minor improvements in presentation; the last paragraph in Sec.III is new; new Sec. We review the detection of the Delta L=2 semileptonic meson decays of the form M(+) -> M'(-) lepton(+) lepton(-) that we studied in a previous work, mediated by a Majorana neutrino with a mass in the range between the masses of the initial and final mesons. For such range of masses, the Majorana neutrino will go on its mass shell and the two charged leptons will appear at displaced vertices or, if the lifetime is long enough, most secondary vertices will fall outside the detector. We consider the issue of the top quark Yukawa coupling measurement in a model in dependent and general case with the inclusion of CP-violation in the coupling. Arguably the best process to study this coupling is the associa ted production of Higgs boson along with a $t\bar t$ pair in a machine like the International Linear Collider (ILC). While detailed analyses of the sensitivity of the measurement assuming a Standard Model (SM) - like coupling are available in the context of ILC, conclude that th e coupling could be pinned down at about 10\% level with modest luminosity, our investigations show that the scenario could be different in case of a more general coupling. The modified Lorentz structure resulting in a changed functional dependence of the cross section on the couplin g, along with the difference in the cross section itself leads to considerable deviation in the sensitivity. Our studies with an ILC of center of mass energies of 500 GeV, 800 GeV and 1000 GeV show that moderate CP-mixing in the Higgs sector could change the sensitivity to about 20\ %, while it could be worsened to 75\% in cases which could accommodate more dramatic changes in the coupling. While detailed considerations of the decay distributions point to a need for a relook at the analysis strategy followed for the case of SM such as for a model independent analysis of the top quark Yukawa coupling measurement. This study strongly suggests that, a joint analysis of the CP properties and the Yukawa coupling measurement would be the way forward at the ILC and that caution must be excercised in the measurem ent of the Yukawa couplings and the conclusions drawn from it., 18 pages, 7 figures, uses revtex

We propose a simple renormalizable model for the spontaneous CP violation based on $SU(2)_{L}\times U(1)_{Y}\times A_{4}$ symmetry in a radiative seesaw mechanism, which can be guaranteed by an extra $Z_{2}$ symmetry. In our model CP is spontaneously broken at high energies, after breaking of flavor symmetry, by a complex vacuum expectation value of $A_{4}$-triplet and gauge singlet scalar field. We show that the spontaneously generated CP phase could become a natural source of leptogenesis, %CP violation for neutrino oscillation and leptogenesis, respectively. Then, and also investigate CP violation at low energies in the lepton sector and show how the CP phases in PMNS could be arisen through spontaneous symmetry breaking mechanism. As a numerical study, interestingly, we show that the normal mass hierarchy favors relatively large values of $\theta_{13}$, large deviations from maximality of $\theta_{23}\pi/4$ and discrete values of $\delta_{CP}$ around $100^{\circ},135^{\circ},255^{\circ}$ and $300^{\circ}$. Finally, with a successful leptogenesis our numerical results give more predictive values on the Dirac CP phase: for the normal mass hierarchy $1^{\circ}\lesssim\delta_{CP}\lesssim10^{\circ}$ and for inverted one $\delta_{CP}\sim100^{\circ},135^{\circ},300^{\circ}$., Comment: 36 pages and 25 figures. We study the pion decays with intermediate on-shell neutrinos $N$ into two electrons and a muon, $��^{\pm} \to e^{\pm} N \to e^{\pm} e^{\pm} ��^{\mp} ��$. We investigate the branching ratios ${\rm Br}_{\pm} = [��(��^- \to e^- e^- ��^+ ��) \pm ��(��^+ \to e^+e^+��^-��)]/��(��^- \to {\rm all})$ and the CP asymmetry ratio ${\cal A}_{\rm CP} = {\rm Br}_{-}/{\rm Br}_{+}$ for such decays, in the scenario with two different on-shell neutrinos. If $N$ is Dirac, only the lepton number conserving (LC) decays contribute (LC: $��= ��_e$ or ${\bar ��}_e$); if $N$ is Majorana, both LC and lepton number violating (LV) decays contribute (LV: $��={\bar ��}_��$ or $��=��_��$). The results show that the CP asymmetry ${\cal A}_{\rm CP}$ is in general very small, but increases and becomes $\sim 1$ when the masses of the two intermediate neutrinos get closer to each other, i.e., when their mass difference becomes comparable with their decay width, $��M_N \not\gg ��_N$. The observation of CP violation in pion decays would be consistent with the existence of the well-motivated $��$MSM model with two almost degenerate heavy neutrinos., 16 pages, 6 figures, v4: new references ([17,18]) added, and ref.[9] extended; the version to appear in J.Phys.G

$B^\pm \to (D^0, \bar D^0, D_{CP})K^{*\pm}_{0,2}$ decays are helpful in determining the CP violation angle $��$, and we analyze these decay processes within the perturbative QCD approach based on $k_T$ factorization. We found that the branching ratio of $B^-\to D^0 K^{*-}_0$ can reach the order of $10^{-4}$, due to the enhancement of nonfactorizable contributions in color-suppressed $D^0$-emission, while the branching ratio of $B^-\to \bar D^0 K^{*-}_0$ is of the order $10^{-5}$. The ratio of decay amplitudes is about 3 times larger than the one in the channel $B^\pm\to D K^\pm$. Large branching ratios provide a good opportunity to observe $ B^\pm \to D K^{*\pm}_2$ on the ongoing and forthcoming experimental facilities and consequently these channels may be of valuable avail in reducing the errors in the CP violation phase angle $��$. We also explore the possible time-dependent CP asymmetries of $B_s$ decay into a scalar meson to determine the phase angle $��$., 7 pages, 2 figures

We obtain the first estimates of branching ratios for the weak decays of $B_c$ meson decaying to two orbitally excited mesons namely, axial-vector meson ($A$) and tensor meson ($T$), in the final state. We calculate $B_c \to T$ transition form factors using the Isgur-Scora-Grinstein-Wise II framework and consequently predict branching ratios of $ B_c \to AT $ decays in Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa favored and suppressed modes., Comment: 17 pages

We examined the influence of additional scalar doublet on the parameter space of the Standard Model supplemented with a generation of new vector like leptons. In particular we identified the viable regions of parameter space by inspecting various constraints especially electroweak precision (S, T and U) parameters. We demonstrated that the additional scalar assists in alleviating the tension of electroweak precision constraints and thus permitting larger Yukawa mixing and mass splittings among vector like species. We study the rare decays of charged \pi\ mesons, \pi+ to e+ e+ \mu- anti-\nu_\mu\ and \pi+ to e+ \mu- e+ \nu_e, induced by a sterile neutrino N with a mass in the range m_\mu < m_N < m_\pi. The first process violates Lepton Number by two units and so occurs only if N is Majorana, while the second process conserves Lepton Number and occurs irrespective of the Majorana or Dirac character of N. We study a way to distinguish the Majorana vs. Dirac character of N in these processes using the muon spectrum. We also find that the branching ratios could be at the reach of high luminosity experiments like Project X at FNAL or any proposed neutrino (or muon) factories worldwide., Comment: 20 pages, 8 figures, tex added in the introduction and section 3, equations moved to appendix in section 2

Within the perturbative QCD approach and ignoring the contributions of long distance and subleading penguin loops, we investigate $\bar B^0 \to D^0 ��^+��^-$ decay in the large recoiling kinematic region in the Standard Model. At the tree level, $\bar B^0$ decays to $D^0$ by exchanging a $W$ boson accompanied by a virtual photon emission from the valence quarks of $\bar B^0$ and $D^0$ meson, then the virtual photon decays to the lepton pair. Numerically, we find that the branching ratio decreases rapidly as the $q^2$ increases, and the branching ratio of $ \bar B^0\to D^0��^+��^-$ is $(9.7_{-3.2}^{+4.2})\times 10^{-6}$ in the region $q^2 \in [1,5] \mathrm{GeV}^2$. The order of the branching ratio shows a possibility to study this interesting channel in the current $B$ factories and the Large Hadron Collider. The presence of the light CP-odd scalar boson predicted in the next-to-minimal supersymmetric model (NMSSM) and the simplest little Higgs model (SLHM) dramatically changes the phenomenology of the Higgs sector. We suggest a practical strategy to discriminate the underlying model of the CP-odd scalar boson produced in the decay of the standard model-like Higgs boson. We define the decay rate of "the non $b$-tagged jet pair" with which we compute the ratio of decay rates into lepton and jets. They show much different behaviors between the NMSSM and the SLHM., Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures (5 figure files)

The lifetime difference ($y_D=����_D/2��_D$) and mass difference ($x_D=��m_D/��_D$) of neutral $D$ meson have been measured with $y_D=(0.80\pm 0.13)%$ and $x_D=(0.59 \pm 0.20)%$, respectively. Intriguingly, in contrast with the cases of $K$ and $B_q$ systems, the current data indicate that $y_D/x_D \sim 1$ and $y_D$ favors to be larger than $x_D$. For explaining the experimental indication, we here study the $D-\bar D$ oscillation in the framework of unparticle physics. We demonstrate that {\it the peculiar phase appearing in off-shell unparticle propagator} could play an important role on $x_D$ and $y_D$., 9 pages, 2 figures

Recent measurements of the inelastic and total proton-proton cross section at the LHC, and at cosmic ray energies by the Auger experiment, have quantitatively confirmed fits to lower energy data constrained by the assumption that the proton is asymptotically a black disk of gluons. We show that data on \bar p(p)p,��^\mp p, and K^\mp p forward scattering support the related expectation that the asymptotic behavior of all cross sections is flavor independent. By using the most recent measurements from ATLAS, CMS, TOTEM and Auger, we predict ��^{pp}_{\rm tot} (\sqrt s=8 {\rm TeV})=100.6 \pm 2.9 mb and ��^{pp}_{\rm tot} (\sqrt s=14 {\rm TeV})=110.8 \pm 3.5 mb, as well as refine the total cross section ��^{pp}_{\rm tot} (\sqrt s=57 {\rm TeV})=139.6 \pm 5.4 mb. Our analysis also predicts the total ��^\mp ��^+ cross sections as a function of \sqrt s., Final version to be published in PRD (2012)

The branching ratio and direct CP asymmetry of the decay mode $B_s \to ����^0$ have been calculated within the QCD factorization approach in both the standard model (SM) and the non-universal $Z^\prime$ model. In the standard model, the CP averaged branching ratio is about $1.3\times 10^{-7}$. Considering the effect of $Z^\prime$ boson, we found the branching ratio can be enlarged three times or decreased to one third %by the effect of $Z^\prime$ boson within the allowed parameter spaces. Furthermore, the direct CP asymmetry could reach 55% with a light $Z^\prime$ boson and suitable CKM phase, compared to 25% predicted in the SM. The enhancement of both branching ratio and CP asymmetry cannot be realized at the same parameter spaces, thus, if this decay mode is measured in the upcoming LHC-b experiment and/or Super B-factories, the peculiar deviation from the SM may provide a signal of the non-universal $Z^\prime$ model, which can be used to constrain the mass of $Z^\prime$ boson in turn., 9 pages, 5 figures

The recent measurements of the direct CP asymmetries ($A_{CP}$) in the penguin-dominated $B\to K ��$ decays show some discrepancy from the standard model (SM) prediction. While $A_{CP}$ of $B^+ \to ��^0 K^+$ and that of $B^0 \to ��^- K^+$ in the naive estimate of the SM are expected to have very similar values, their experimental data are of the opposite sign and different magnitudes. We study the effects of the custodial bulk Randall-Sundrum model on this $A_{CP}$. In this model, the misalignment of the five-dimensional (5D) Yukawa interactions to the 5D bulk gauge interactions in flavor space leads to tree-level flavor-changing neutral current by the Kaluza-Klein gauge bosons. In a large portion of the parameter space of this model, the observed nonzero $A_{CP}(B^+ \to ��^0 K^+) - A_{CP}(B^0 \to ��^- K^+)$ can be explained only with low Kaluza-Klein mass scale $M_{KK}$ around 1 TeV. Rather extreme parameters is required to explain it with $M_{KK}\simeq 3\tev$. The new contributions to well-measured branching ratios of $B \to K ��$ decays are also shown to be suppressed., 18 pages, 2 figures

We revisited the extracting $\left|V_{ub}/V_{cb}\right|$ and $|V_{ub}|$ through calculating the ratios ${\cal B}(B^0\to D_s^{(*)+}(\pi^-,\rho^-)/ {\cal B}(B^0\to D_s^{(*)+} D^{(*)-})$ in the perturbative QCD approach, which is regarded as an effective theory in dealing with non-leptonic charmed $B$ decays. Utilizing this approach, we could calculate the form factors effectively as well as non-factorizable and annihilation contributions. Within the updated distribution amplitudes and the latest experimental data, we get $\left|{V_{ub}}/{V_{cb}}\right|=0.083\pm0.007$, which favors a bit smaller $|V_{ub}|$ compared with the averaged PDG value, but agrees well the exclusively measured values. Furthermore, we predict the branching ratio of $\bar B^0 \to D_s^-\rho^+$ $\sim$ $(2.7\pm 1.2)\times 10^{-5}$, which could be measured in $B$ factories near future. In our calculation, the major uncertainty is due to our poor knowledge of heavy meson wave functions. If the Higgs boson were the only particle within the LHC accessible range, precision measurement of the Higgs's properties would play a unique role in studying electroweak symmetry breaking as well as possible new physics. We try to use low energy experiments such as rare B decay to constrain a challenging decay mode of Higgs, in which a Higgs decays to a pair of light (\approx 1 \sim 2 GeV) SM singlet S and becomes invisible. By using the current experimental bound of rare decay B\to K��\bar�� and computing the contribution of B\to K SS to (the) B\to K+\cancel{E}, we obtain an upper bound on the Higgs coupling to such light singlet. It is interesting that the partial width of the invisible decay mode h\to SS by taking the upper bound value of coupling is at a comparable level with h\to WW/ZZ or WW^(*) decay modes, making the Higgs identifiable but with a different predicted decay BR from the standard model Higgs decay. It will then have an impact on precision measurement of the Higgs's properties. Within the framework of perturbative QCD approach based on $\mathbf{k_T}$ factorization, we investigate the charmless decay mode $B \to K_0^*(1430)��$. Under two different scenarios (S1 and S2) for the description of scalar meson $K_0^*(1430)$, we explore the branching fractions and related CP asymmetries. Besides the dominant contributions from the factorizable emission diagrams, penguin operators in the annihilation diagrams could also provide considerable contributions. The central values of our predictions are larger than those from the QCD factorization in both scenarios. Compared with the experimental measurements of the BaBar collaboration, the result of neutral channel in the S1 agrees with experimental data, while the result of the charged one is a bit smaller than the data. In the S2 scenario, although the central value for the branching fractions of both channels are much larger than the data, the predictions could agree with the data due to the large uncertainties to the branching fractions from the hadronic input parameters. The CP asymmetry in the charged channel is small and not sensitive to CKM angle $��$. We present a complete study of R-parity violating supersymmetric effects in thirteen exclusive and inclusive semi-leptonic $b \to (s,d) ��\bar��$ decays, including $B^+_u\to K^{(*)+}��\bar��$, $B^0_d\to K^{(*)0}��\bar��$, $B^0_s\to ����\bar��$, $B^0_d\to ��^0(��^0)��\bar��$, $B^+_u\to ��^+(��^+)��\bar��$, $B^0_s\to K^{(*)0}��\bar��$ and $B \to X_{s,d} ��\bar��$ decay modes, and we find those thirteen modes are very sensitive to the constrained R-parity violating couplings. We derive stringent bounds on relevant R-parity violating couplings, which are based on all existent experimental upper limits of involved semi-leptonic decays. In addition, we also investigate the sensitivities of the branching ratios and di-neutrino invariant mass spectra to the survived R-parity violating coupling spaces. We consider a leptophobic Z^\prime scenario in a flipped SU(5) grand unified theory obtained from heterotic string theory. We show that the allowed Z^\prime mass, flavor conserving and flavor changing couplings of the Z^\prime to the down-type quarks are strongly constrained by the mass difference in B_s-\bar{B}_s system and the four branching ratios of B -> ��K decays. It is shown that even under these constraints large deviations in direct and/or indirect CP asymmetries of B \to ��K decays from the SM expectations are allowed. Motivated by the possible large direct CP asymmetry of \bar{B}^0_d \to D^+ D^- decay measured by Belle collaboration, we investigate double charm B_{u,d} and B_s decays in the minimal supersymmetric standard model with R-parity violation. We derive the bounds on relevant R-parity violating couplings from the current experimental data, which show quite consistent measurements among relative collaborations. Using the constrained parameter spaces, we explore R-parity violating effects on other observables in these decays, which have not been measured or have not been well measured yet. We find that the R-parity violating effects on the mixing-induced CP asymmetries of \bar{B}^0_d \to D^{(*)+} D^{(*)-} and \bar{B}^0_s \to D^{(*)+}_s D^{(*)-}_s decays could be very large, nevertheless the R-parity violating effects on the direct CP asymmetries could not be large enough to explain the large direct CP violation of \bar{B}^0_d \to D^{+} D^{-} from Belle. We study a $��- ��$ reflection symmetry in neutrino sector realized at the GUT scale in the context of the seesaw model. In our scenario, the exact $��- ��$ reflection symmetry realized in the basis where the charged lepton and heavy Majorana mass matrices are diagonal, leads to vanishing lepton asymmetries. We find that, in the minimal supersymmetry extension of the seesaw model with appropriate values of $\tan��$, the renormalization group (RG) evolution from the GUT scale to seesaw scale can induce a successful leptogenesis. It is shown that the right amount of the baryon asymmetries $��_B$ can be achieved via so-called resonant leptogenesis, which can be realized at rather low seesaw scale in our scenario, so that the well-known gravitino problem is safely avoided. We investigate the implication of unparticle physics on the B_{u,d}\to (��, K) ��decays under the constraints of the B_{d,s}-\bar B_{d,s} mixing. We found that not only the unparticle parameters that belong to the flavor changing neutral current (FCNC) processes but also scaling dimension d_{\UP} could be constrained by the B_{d,s}-\bar B_{d,s} mixing phenomenology. Employing the minimum ��^2 analysis to the B_{u,d}\to (��, K) ��decays with the constraints of B_{d,s} mixing, we find that the puzzle of large branching ratio for B_{d}\to ��^0 ��^0 and the discrepancy between the standard model estimation and data for the direct CP asymmetry of B^+ \to K^+ ��^0 and B_d \to ��^+��^- can be resolved well. However, the mixing induced CP asymmetry of B_d\to K_S ��^0 could not be well accommodated by the unparticle contributions., Analysis on mixing part is revised

We present a systematic method to extract each standard model (SM)-{\it like} hadronic parameter as well as new physics parameters in analytic way for $B\to K��$ decays. Using the analytic method to the currently available experimental data, we find two possible solutions analytically equivalent: one showing the large SM-{\it like} color-suppressed tree contribution and the other showing the large SM-{\it like} EWP contribution. The magnitude of the NP amplitude and its weak phase are quite large. For instance, we find $|P^{NP}/P| = 0.39\pm0.13$, $��^{NP}=91^\circ\pm15^\circ$ and $��^{NP}=8^\circ\pm27^\circ$, which are the ratio of the NP-to-SM contribution, the weak and the relative strong phase of the NP amplitude, respectively., 17 pages, 3 figures, The title has been also changed

Motivated by the recent measurements of the B_s-\bar{B}_s mass difference from the D0 and CDF collaborations, we probe new physics effects in the B_q-\bar{B}_q mixing within the context of the supersymmetric grand unified model (SUSY GUT). We find that new physics effects in B_{s(d)}-\bar{B}_{s(d)} mixing lead to the correlated information in the branching fractions of the lepton flavor violating decays, which may serve as a test of the SUSY GUT. We study $B \to K^* ��$ modes that are analogues of the much studied $B\to K ��$ modes with B decaying to two vector mesons instead of pseudoscalar mesons, using topological amplitudes in the quark diagram approach. We show how $B \to K^*��$ modes can be used to obtain many more observables than those for $B \to K ��$ modes, even though the quark level subprocesses of both modes are exactly the same. All the theoretical parameters (except for the weak phase $��$), such as the magnitudes of the topological amplitudes and their strong phases, can be determined in terms of the observables without any model-dependent assumption. We demonstrate how $B\to K^*��$ can also be used to verify if there exist any relations between theoretical parameters, such as the hierarchy relations between the topological amplitudes and possible relations between the strong phases. Conversely, if there exist reliable theoretical estimates of amplitudes and strong phases, the presence of New physics could be probed. We show that if the tree and color-supressed tree are related to the electroweak penguins and color-supressed electroweak penguins, it is not only possible to verify the validity of such relations but also to have a clean measurement of New Physics parameters. We propose a new method to extract the CKM phase angle ��(\equiv ��_3) from the isospin analysis in B \to K ��decays. Unlike previously proposed methods, we do not employ flavor SU(3) symmetry, so that this method is free from the hadronic uncertainty coming from the SU(3) breaking effect. Neither we adopt any Dalitz-plot analysis, which may involve multiple strong phases and large final state interactions. After including small CP violating terms in B^+ \to K^0 ��^+ and color-suppressed electroweak penguin contribution in B^0 \to K^+ ��^-, whose values are estimated from the QCD factorization, we obtain ��= ({70}^{+5 +1 +2}_{-14 -1 -3})^\circ \textrm{or} {106^\circ}< ��< {180^\circ}. The first error is due to the experimental errors mainly caused by mixing-induced CP asymmetry S_{{K_s} ��^0}. The second and third errors come from the theoretical uncertainty for two above-mentioned small contributions, respectively. Since we utilize only the isospin relations in B \to K ��decays, this method will work well, regardless of possible new physics effects unless the isospin relations do not hold., Error analysis has been improved

The custodial Randall-Sundrum model based on SU(2)_L X SU(2)_R X U(1)_(B-L) generates new flavor-changing-neutral-current (FCNC) phenomena at tree level, mediated by Kaluza-Klein neutral gauge bosons. Based on two natural assumptions of universal 5D Yukawa couplings and no-cancellation in explaining the observed standard model fermion mixing matrices, we determine the bulk Dirac mass parameters. Phenomenological constraints from lepton-flavor-violations are also used to specify the model. From the comprehensive study of B->K* l+ l'-, we found that only the B->K*ee decay has sizable new physics effects. The zero value position of the forward-backward asymmetry in this model is also evaluated, with about 5% deviation from the SM result. Other effective observables are also suggested such as the ratio of two differential (or partially integrated) decay rates of B->K*ee and B->K*mu mu. For the first KK gauge boson mass of M_A^(1)=2-4 TeV, we can have about 10-20% deviation from the SM results., references added with minor changes

We study the exclusive $b \to u \ell^- \bar��_{\ell} (\ell=��,��,e)$ decays in the MSSM with and without R-parity violation. From the experimental measurements of branching ratios $\mathcal{B}(B^-_u \to ��^- \bar��_��)$, $\mathcal{B}(B^-_u \to M'^0 \ell'^- \bar��_{\ell'})$ and $\mathcal{B}(\bar{B}^0_d \to M'^+ \ell'^- \bar��_{\ell'})$ $(\ell'=��,e, M'=��,��)$, we derive new upper bounds on the relevant new physics parameters within the decays. Using the constrained new physics parameter spaces, we predict the charged Higgs effects and the R-parity violating effects on the branching ratios, the normalized forward-backward asymmetries of charged leptons, and the ratios of longitudinal to transverse polarization of the vector mesons, which have not been measured or have not been well measured yet. We find that the charged Higgs effects and the R-parity violating effects could be large and measurable in some cases. Our results could be used to probe new physics effects in the leptonic decays as well as the semileptonic decays, and will correlate with searches for direct supersymmetric signals in future experiments., 28 pages and 10 figures

We study the spin Coulomb drag in a quasi-two-dimensional electron gas beyond the random phase approximation (RPA). We find that the finite transverse width of the electron gas causes a significant reduction of the spin Coulomb drag. This reduction, however, is largely compensated by the enhancement coming from the inclusion of many-body local field effects beyond the RPA, thereby restoring good agreement with the experimental observations by C. We investigate systematically how to extract new physics contributions in B --> K pi l^+ l^- decay by using the angular decomposition. The decomposition will enable us to define not only several CP averaged forward-backward (FB) asymmetries but also the direct CP asymmetry and the time-dependent mixing induced CP asymmetry for each FB asymmetry newly defined in the general 4 body angular space. The decay process involves several intermediate vector and scalar resonances as sources of strong phase difference through interference, therefore, one can expect largely enhanced CP asymmetries, if there exists any new physics with weak CP phases. Non-vanishing U_{e3} has been theoretically related to a certain flavor symmetry breaking in the neutrino sector. We propose a scenario to break the mu-tau symmetry so as to accommodate the non-vanishing U_{e3}. Our scenario is constructed in the context of a seesaw model, and the mu-tau symmetry breaking is achieved by introducing a CP phase in the Dirac Yukawa matrix. We also show how the deviation of theta_{23} from the maximal mixing and non-vanishing U_{e3} depend on the CP phase. Neutrino mixings and the neutrino mass-squared differences are discussed, and the amplitude in neutrinoless double beta decay m_{ee} are also predicted. We found that a tiny breaking of the mu-tau symmetry due to mass splitting between two degenerate heavy Majorana neutrinos on top of the Dirac CP phase can lead to successful leptogenesis. We examine how leptogenesis can be related with low energy neutrino measurement, and show that our predictions for U_{e3} and m_{ee} can be constrained by the current observation of baryon asymmetry., Comment: 18 pages, 7 figures, published version in PRD

We consider the exclusive flavor changing neutral current processes B -> M ��\bar�� (M= ��, K, ��, K^*) in the leptophobic Z^\prime model, in which the charged leptons do not couple to the extra Z^\prime boson. We find that these exclusive modes are very effective to constrain the leptophobic Z^\prime model. In the leptophobic Z^\prime model, additional right-handed neutrinos are introduced and they can contribute to the missing energy signal in B -> M + E_missing decays. Through the explicit calculations, we obtain quite stringent bounds on the model parameters, |U_{sb}^{Z^\prime}| \leq 0.29 and |U_{db}^{Z^\prime}| \leq 0.61, from the already existing experimental data. We present a quantitative analysis of the $D^{+}_{sJ}(2632)$ observed by SELEX mainly focusing on the assumption that $D^{+}_{sJ}(2632)$ is the first radial excitation of the $1^{-}$ ground state $D^{*}_{s}(2112)$. By solving the instantaneous Bethe-Salpeter equation, we obtain the mass $2658\pm 15$ MeV for the first excited state, which is about 26 MeV heavier than the experimental value $2632\pm 1.7$ MeV. By means of PCAC and low-energy theorem we calculate the transition matrix elements and obtain the decay widths: $\Gamma(D^{+}_{sJ}\to D^{+}_s\eta)=4.07\pm 0.34$ MeV, $\Gamma(D^{+}_{sJ}\to D^{0}K^{+}) \simeq \Gamma(\Gamma(D^{+}_{sJ}\to D^{+}K^{0})=8.9\pm 1.2$ MeV, and the ratio $\Gamma(D^{+}_{sJ}\to D^{0}K^{+})/\Gamma(D^{+}_{sJ}\to D^{+}_{s}\eta)=2.2\pm 0.2$ as well. This ratio is quite different from the SELEX data $0.14\pm 0.06$. The summed decay width of those three channels is approximately 21.7 MeV, already larger than the observed bound for the full width ($\leq 17$ MeV). Furthermore, assuming $D_{sJ}^+(2632)$ is $1^{-}$ state, we also explore the possibility of $S-D$ wave mixing to explain the SELEX observation. Based on our analysis, we suspect that it is too early to conclude that $D^{+}_{sJ}(2632)$ is the first radial excitation of the $1^{-}$ ground state $D^{*}_{s}(2112)$. More precise measurements of the relative ratios and the total decay width are urgently required especially for $S-D$ wave mixing., Comment: 12 pages, 8 figures

In the light of new experimental results on B -> K pi decays, we critically study the decay processes B -> K pi in a phenomenological way. Using the quark diagram approach and the currently available data, we determine the allowed values of the relevant theoretical parameters, corresponding to the electroweak (EW) penguin, the color-suppressed tree contribution, etc. In order to find the most likely values of the parameters in a statistically reliable way, we use the chi^2 minimization technique. Our result shows that the current data for B to K pi decays strongly indicate (large) enhancements of both the EW penguin and the color-suppressed tree contributions. We propose a scenario that the mass splitting between the first generation of the heavy Majorana neutrino and the other two generations of degenerate heavy neutrinos in the seesaw framework is responsible for the deviation of the solar mixing angle from the maximal mixing, while keeping the maximal mixing between the tau and muon neutrinos as it is. On top of the scenario, we show that the tiny breaking of the degeneracy of the two heavy Majorana neutrinos leads to the non-zero small mixing angle $U_{e3}$ in the PMNS matrix and the little deviation of the atmospheric neutrino mixing angle from the maximal mixing., Comment: 12 pages, model claified, references added and corrected

We study the decay processes $B \to K ��$ by using generalized decay amplitudes with both the final state re-scattering strong phases and the topological quark diagrammatic strong phases included together as part of fitting parameters. Using a generalized approach, so called ``isospin phased topological approach'', for all the currently available data of $B \to K ��$ decays, we determine the allowed values of the relevant theoretical parameters, corresponding to the electroweak penguin, the color-suppressed tree contribution, strong phase differences, etc. In order to find the most likely values of the parameters in a statistically reliable way, we use the $��^2$ minimization technique. Since the CP violation in the $B$ system has been investigated up to now only through processes related to the $B$--$\bar{B}$ mixing, urgently required is new way of study for the CP violation and establishing its origin in the $B$ system independent of the mixing process. In this work, we explore the exclusive $ B^0 \to ��^0 ��$ decay to obtain the time-dependent CP asymmetry in $b \to d$ decay process in the standard model and the supersymmetric model. We find that the complex RL and RR mass insertion to the squark sector in the MSSM can lead to a large CP asymmetry in $b \to d ��$ decay through the gluino-squark diagrams, which is not predicted in the Standard Model induced by the $B$--$\bar{B}$ mixing., 10 pages, 4 eps figures
