CTR prediction, which aims to estimate the probability that a user will click an item, plays a crucial role in online advertising and recommender system. Feature interaction modeling based and user interest mining based methods are the two kinds of most popular techniques that have been extensively explored for many years and have made great progress for CTR prediction. However, (1) feature interaction based methods which rely heavily on the co-occurrence of different features, may suffer from the feature sparsity problem (i.e., many features appear few times); (2) user interest mining based methods which need rich user behaviors to obtain user's diverse interests, are easy to encounter the behavior sparsity problem (i.e., many users have very short behavior sequences). To solve these problems, we propose a novel module named Dual Graph enhanced Embedding, which is compatible with various CTR prediction models to alleviate these two problems. We further propose a Dual Graph enhanced Embedding Neural Network (DG-ENN) for CTR prediction. Dual Graph enhanced Embedding exploits the strengths of graph representation with two carefully designed learning strategies (divide-and-conquer, curriculum-learning-inspired organized learning) to refine the embedding. We conduct comprehensive experiments on three real-world industrial datasets. The experimental results show that our proposed DG-ENN significantly outperforms state-of-the-art CTR prediction models. Moreover, when applying to state-of-the-art CTR prediction models, Dual graph enhanced embedding always obtains better performance. Further case studies prove that our proposed dual graph enhanced embedding could alleviate the feature sparsity and behavior sparsity problems. In this paper, we study 5d $\mathcal{N}=1$ $Sp(N)$ gauge theory with $N_f ( \leq 2N + 3 )$ flavors based on 5-brane web diagram with $O5$-plane. On the one hand, we discuss Seiberg-Witten curve based on the dual graph of the 5-brane web with $O5$-plane. On the other hand, we compute the Nekrasov partition function based on the topological vertex formalism with $O5$-plane. Rewriting it in terms of profile functions, we obtain the saddle point equation for the profile function after taking thermodynamic limit. By introducing the resolvent, we derive the Seiberg-Witten curve and its boundary conditions as well as its relation to the prepotential in terms of the cycle integrals. They coincide with those directly obtained from the dual graph of the 5-brane web with $O5$-plane. A data structure is presented that explicitly maintains the graph of a Voronoi diagram of $N$ point sites in the plane or the dual graph of a convex hull of points in three dimensions while allowing insertions of new sites/points. Our structure supports insertions in $\tilde O (N^{3/4})$ expected amortized time, where $\tilde O$ suppresses polylogarithmic terms. This is the first result to achieve sublinear time insertions; previously it was shown by Allen et al. that $\Theta(\sqrt{N})$ amortized combinatorial changes per insertion could occur in the Voronoi diagram but a sublinear-time algorithm was only presented for the special case of points in convex position., Comment: 14 pages, 10 figures. Most graph-network-based meta-learning approaches model instance-level relation of examples. We extend this idea further to explicitly model the distribution-level relation of one example to all other examples in a 1-vs-N manner. We propose a novel approach named distribution propagation graph network (DPGN) for few-shot learning. It conveys both the distribution-level relations and instance-level relations in each few-shot learning task. To combine the distribution-level relations and instance-level relations for all examples, we construct a dual complete graph network which consists of a point graph and a distribution graph with each node standing for an example. Equipped with dual graph architecture, DPGN propagates label information from labeled examples to unlabeled examples within several update generations. In extensive experiments on few-shot learning benchmarks, DPGN outperforms state-of-the-art results by a large margin in 5% $\sim$ 12% under supervised setting and 7% $\sim$ 13% under semi-supervised setting. Predicting interactions between structured entities lies at the core of numerous tasks such as drug regimen and new material design. In recent years, graph neural networks have become attractive. They represent structured entities as graphs and then extract features from each individual graph using graph convolution operations. However, these methods have some limitations: i) their networks only extract features from a fix-sized subgraph structure (i.e., a fix-sized receptive field) of each node, and ignore features in substructures of different sizes, and ii) features are extracted by considering each entity independently, which may not effectively reflect the interaction between two entities. To resolve these problems, we present MR-GNN, an end-to-end graph neural network with the following features: i) it uses a multi-resolution based architecture to extract node features from different neighborhoods of each node, and, ii) it uses dual graph-state long short-term memory networks (L-STMs) to summarize local features of each graph and extracts the interaction features between pairwise graphs. This work is about graphs arising from Reuleaux polyhedra. Such graphs must necessarily be planar, $3$-connected and strongly self-dual. We study the question of when these conditions are sufficient. If $G$ is any such a graph with isomorphism $\tau : G \to G^*$ (where $G^*$ is the unique dual graph), a metric mapping is a map $\eta : V(G) \to \mathbb R^3$ such that the diameter of $\eta(G)$ is $1$ and for every pair of vertices $(u,v)$ such that $u\in \tau(v)$ we have dist$(\eta(u),\eta(v)) = 1$. If $\eta$ is injective, it is called a metric embedding. Note that a metric embedding gives rise to a Reuleaux Polyhedra. Our contributions are twofold: Firstly, we prove that any planar, $3$-connected, strongly self-dual graph has a metric mapping by proving that the chromatic number of the diameter graph (whose vertices are $V(G)$ and whose edges are pairs $(u,v)$ such that $u\in \tau(v)$) is at most $4$, which means there exists a metric mapping to the tetrahedron. Furthermore, we use the Lov\'asz neighborhood-complex theorem in algebraic topology to prove that the chromatic number of the diameter graph is exactly $4$. Secondly, we develop algorithms that allow us to obtain every such graph with up to $14$ vertices. Furthermore, we numerically construct metric embeddings for every such graph. From the theorem and this computational evidence we conjecture that every such graph is realizable as a Reuleaux polyhedron in $\mathbb R^3$. In previous work the first and last authors described a method to construct a constant-width body from a Reuleaux polyhedron. So in essence, we also construct hundreds of new examples of constant-width bodies. This is related to a problem of V\'azsonyi, and also to a problem of Blaschke-Lebesgue.

The dual of a polyhedron is a polyhedron -- or in graph theoretical terms: the dual of a 3-connected plane graph is a 3-connected plane graph. Astonishingly, except for sufficiently large facewidth, not much is known about the connectivity of the dual on higher surfaces. Are the duals of 3-connected embedded graphs of higher genus 3-connected, too? If not: which connectivity guarantees 3-connectedness of the dual? In this article, we give answers to this and related questions. Among other things, we prove that there is no connectivity that for every genus guarantees the 3-connectedness or 2-connectedness of the dual, and give upper bounds for the minimum genus for which (with c>2) a c-connected embedded graphs with a dual that has a 1- or 2-cut can occur. For the torus, we determine exact values for the connectivity needed to guarantee 3- respectively 2-connectivity of the dual. We prove that already on the torus, we need 6-connectedness to guarantee 3-connectedness of the dual and 4-connectedness to guarantee 2-connectedness of the dual. In the last section, we answer a related question by Plummer and Zha on orientable embeddings of highly connected non-complete graphs.

We use orientations on stable graphs to express the combinatorial structure of the compactified universal Jacobians in degrees g-1 and g over the moduli space of stable curves, \Mgb, and construct for them graded stratifications compatible with the one of \Mgb. In this article we associate a combinatorial differential graded algebra to a cubic planar graph G. This algebra is defined combinatorially by counting binary sequences, which we introduce, and several explicit computations are provided. In addition, in the appendix by K. We consider a conjectured topological inequality for the number of equisingular moduli of a rational surface singularity, and prove it in some natural special cases. When the resolution dual graph is "sufficiently negative" (in a precise sense), we verify the inequality via an easy cohomological vanishing theorem, which implies that this number is computed simply from the graph (Theorem 3.10). To consider an important and less restrictive meaning of "sufficiently negative" requires a much more difficult "hard vanishing theorem" (Theorem 4.5), which is false in characteristic p. Theorem 7.9 verifies the conjectured inequality in this more general situation. Proctor's work on staircase plane partitions yields an enumeration of lozenge tilings of a halved hexagon on the triangular lattice. Rohatgi recently extended this tiling enumeration to a halved hexagon with a triangle removed from the boundary. A classical theorem by Hartshorne states that the dual graph of any arithmetically Cohen--Macaulay projective scheme is connected. We give a quantitative version of Hartshorne's result, in terms of Castelnuovo--Mumford regularity. If $X \subset \mathbb{P}^n$ is an arithmetically Gorenstein projective scheme of regularity $r+1$, and if every irreducible component of $X$ has regularity $\le r'$, we show that the dual graph of $X$ is $\lfloor{\frac{r+r'-1}{r'}}\rfloor$-connected. The bound is sharp. We also provide a strong converse to Hartshorne's result: Every connected graph is the dual graph of a suitable arithmetically Cohen-Macaulay projective curve of regularity $\le 3$, whose components are all rational normal curves. The regularity bound is smallest possible in general. Further consequences of our work are: (1) Any graph is the Hochster-Huneke graph of a complete equidimensional local ring. (This answers a question by Sather-Wagstaff and Spiroff.) The behavior near the boundary in the Deligne-Mumford compactification of many functions on the moduli space of pointed Riemann surfaces can be conveniently expressed using the notion of "point-like limit" that we adopt from the string theory literature. In this note we study a function on the moduli space of Riemann surfaces that has been introduced by N. Kawazumi and S. Zhang, independently. We show that the point-like limit of the Zhang-Kawazumi invariant in a family of hyperelliptic Riemann surfaces in the direction of any hyperelliptic stable curve exists, and is given by evaluating a combinatorial analogue of the Zhang-Kawazumi invariant, also introduced by Zhang, on the dual graph of that stable curve., Comment: 14 pages

Let $\bar{G} = (G, \omega)$ be a vertex-weighted graph, and $\delta$ a divisor class on $G$. Let $r_{\bar{G}}(\delta)$ denote the combinatorial rank of $\delta$. Caporaso has introduced the algebraic rank $r_{\bar{G}}^{\operatorname{alg}}(\delta)$ of $\delta$, by using nodal curves with dual graph $\bar{G}$. In this paper, when $\bar{G}$ is hyperelliptic or of genus $3$, we show that $r_{\bar{G}}^{\operatorname{alg}}(\delta) \geq r_{\bar{G}}(\delta)$ holds, generalizing our previous result. Graph theoretical ideas are highly utilized by computer science fields especially data mining. In this field, a data structure can be designed in the form of tree. Covering is a widely used form of data representation in data mining and covering-based rough sets provide a systematic approach to this type of representation. In this paper, we study the connectedness of graphs through covering-based rough sets and apply it to connected matroids. First, we present an approach to inducing a covering by a graph, and then study the connectedness of the graph from the viewpoint of the covering approximation operators. Second, we construct a graph from a matroid, and find the matroid and the graph have the same connectedness, which makes us to use covering-based rough sets to study connected matroids. In summary, this paper provides a new approach to studying graph theory and matroid theory.

Let $S$ be a set of $n$ points in 3-dimensional space. A tetrahedralization $\mathcal{T}$ of $S$ is a set of interior disjoint tetrahedra with vertices on $S$, not containing points of $S$ in their interior, and such that their union is the convex hull of $S$. Given $\mathcal{T}$, $D_\mathcal{T}$ is defined as the graph having as vertex set the tetrahedra of $\mathcal{T}$, two of which are adjacent if they share a face. We say that $\mathcal{T}$ is Hamiltonian if $D_\mathcal{T}$ has a Hamiltonian path. Let $m$ be the number of convex hull vertices of $S$. We prove that by adding at most $\lfloor \frac{m-2}{2} \rfloor$ Steiner points to interior of the convex hull of $S$, we can obtain a point set that admits a Hamiltonian tetrahedralization. An $O(m^{3/2}) + O(n \log n)$ time algorithm to obtain these points is given. We also show that all point sets with at most 20 convex hull points admit a Hamiltonian tetrahedralization without the addition of any Steiner points. We prove comparison results for the Swendsen-Wang (SW) dynamics, the heat-bath (HB) dynamics for the Potts model and the single-bond (SB) dynamics for the random-cluster model on arbitrary graphs. In particular, we prove that rapid mixing of HB implies rapid mixing of SW on graphs with bounded maximum degree and that rapid mixing of SW and rapid mixing of SB are equivalent. Additionally, the spectral gap of SW and SB on planar graphs is bounded from above and from below by the spectral gap of these dynamics on the corresponding dual graph with suitably changed temperature. As a consequence we obtain rapid mixing of the Swendsen-Wang dynamics for the Potts model on the two-dimensional square lattice at all non-critical temperatures as well as rapid mixing for the two-dimensional Ising model at all temperatures. In a recent work of Ayaka Shimizu$^{[5]}$, she defined an operation named region crossing change on link diagrams, and showed that region crossing change is an unknotting operation for knot diagrams. In this paper, we prove that region crossing change on a 2-component link diagram is an unknotting operation if and only if the linking number of the diagram is even. Besides, we define an incidence matrix of a link diagram via its signed planar graph and its dual graph. By studying the relation between region crossing change and incidence matrix, we prove that a signed planar graph represents an $n$-component link diagram if and only if the rank of the associated incidence matrix equals to $c-n+1$, here $c$ denotes the size of the graph., Comment: 10 pages, 7 figures

We show that all the tangles in a finite graph or matroid can be distinguished by a single tree-decomposition that is invariant under the automorphisms of the graph or matroid. This comes as a corollary of a similar decomposition theorem for more general combinatorial structures, which has further applications. These include a new approach to cluster analysis and image segmentation. As another illustration for the abstract theorem, we show that applying it to edge-tangles yields the Gomory-Hu theorem., Comment: 33 pages

This paper studies the local geometry of compactified Jacobians constructed by Caporaso, Oda-Seshadri, Pandharipande, and Simpson. The main result is a presentation of the completed local ring of the compactified Jacobian of a nodal curve as an explicit ring of invariants described in terms of the dual graph of the curve. The authors have investigated the geometric and combinatorial properties of these rings in previous work, and consequences for compactified Jacobians are presented in this paper. We present a new circular-arc cartogram model in which countries are drawn as polygons with circular arcs instead of straight-line segments. Given a political map and values associated with each country in the map, a cartogram is a distorted map in which the areas of the countries are proportional to the corresponding values. In the circular-arc cartogram model straight-line segments can be replaced by circular arcs in order to modify the areas of the polygons, while the corners of the polygons remain fixed. The countries in circular-arc cartograms have the aesthetically pleasing appearance of clouds or snowflakes, depending on whether their edges are bent outwards or inwards. This makes it easy to determine whether a country has grown or shrunk, just by its overall shape. We show that determining whether a given map and given area-values can be realized as a circular-arc cartogram is an NP-hard problem. Next we describe a heuristic method for constructing circular-arc cartograms, which uses a max-flow computation on the dual graph of the map, along with a computation of the straight skeleton of the underlying polygonal decomposition. Thanks to the recent work of Bhupal, Stipsicz, Szabo, and the author, one has a complete list of resolution graphs of weighted homogeneous complex surface singularities admitting a rational homology disk ("QHD") smoothing, i.e., one with Milnor number 0. They fall into several classes, the most interesting of which are the three classes whose resolution dual graph has central vertex with valency 4. We give a uniform "quotient construction" of the QHD smoothings for these classes; it is an explicit Q-Gorenstein smoothing, yielding a precise description of the Milnor fibre and its non-abelian fundamental group. This had already been done for two of these classes in a previous paper; what is new here is the construction of the third class, which is far more difficult. In addition, we explain the existence of two different QHD smoothings for the first class. We also prove a general formula for the dimension of a QHD smoothing component for a rational surface singularity. A corollary is that for the valency 4 cases, such a component has dimension 1 and is smooth. Another corollary is that "most" H-shaped resolution graphs cannot be the graph of a singularity with a QHD smoothing. We study minimal free resolutions of edge ideals of bipartite graphs. We associate a directed graph to a bipartite graph whose edge ideal is unmixed, and give expressions for the regularity and the depth of the edge ideal in terms of invariants of the directed graph. For some classes of unmixed edge ideals, we show that the arithmetic rank of the ideal equals projective dimension of its quotient.

In this paper we completely classify all the special Cohen-Macaulay (=CM) modules corresponding to the exceptional curves in the dual graph of the minimal resolutions of all two dimensional quotient singularities. In every case we exhibit the specials explicitly in a combinatorial way. Our result relies on realizing the specials as those CM modules whose first Ext group vanishes against the ring R, thus reducing the problem to combinatorics on the AR quiver; such possible AR quivers were classified by Auslander and Reiten. In this paper we give a much more efficient proof that the real Euclidean phi 4-model on the four-dimensional Moyal plane is renormalizable to all orders. We prove rigorous bounds on the propagator which complete the previous renormalization proof based on renormalization group equations for non-local matrix models. On the other hand, our bounds permit a powerful multi-scale analysis of the resulting ribbon graphs. Here, the dual graphs play a particular r\^ole because the angular momentum conservation is conveniently represented in the dual picture. Choosing a spanning tree in the dual graph according to the scale attribution, we prove that the summation over the loop angular momenta can be performed at no cost so that the power-counting is reduced to the balance of the number of propagators versus the number of completely inner vertices in subgraphs of the dual graph., Comment: 34 pages

We consider a first-passage percolation model on a Delaunay triangulation of the plane. In this model each edge is independently equipped with a nonnegative random variable, with distribution function F, which is interpreted as the time it takes to traverse the edge. Vahidi-Asl and Wierman have shown that, under a suitable moment condition on F, the minimum time taken to reach a point x from the origin 0 is asymptotically ��(F)|x|, where ��(F) is a nonnegative finite constant. However the exact value of the time constant ��(F) still a fundamental problem in percolation theory. We study non-crossing frameworks in the plane for which the classical reciprocal on the dual graph is also non-crossing. We give a complete description of the self-stresses on non-crossing frameworks whose reciprocals are non-crossing, in terms of: the types of faces (only pseudo-triangles and pseudo-quadrangles are allowed); the sign patterns in the self-stress; and a geometric condition on the stress vectors at some of the vertices. As in other recent papers where the interplay of non-crossingness and rigidity of straight-line plane graphs is studied, pseudo-triangulations show up as objects of special interest. For example, it is known that all planar Laman circuits can be embedded as a pseudo-triangulation with one non-pointed vertex. We show that if such an embedding is sufficiently generic, then the reciprocal is non-crossing and again a pseudo-triangulation embedding of a planar Laman circuit. For a singular (i.e., non-generic) pseudo-triangulation embedding of a planar Laman circuit, the reciprocal is still non-crossing and a pseudo-triangulation, but its underlying graph may not be a Laman circuit. Moreover, all the pseudo-triangulations which admit a non-crossing reciprocal arise as the reciprocals of such, possibly singular, stresses on pseudo-triangulation embeddings of Laman circuits. All self-stresses on a planar graph correspond to liftings to piece-wise linear surfaces in 3-space.
